It is common for women to experience problems with sex at some stage in their lives, and often this increases as women get older. The main symptoms include loss of desire, loss of arousal, pain during and after sex, and problems reaching orgasm. Sexual desire can be affected by a drop in women’s natural levels of testosterone, but can also be caused by a number of medical problems, as well as psychological issues, such as stress and trauma.

Problems reaching orgasm can be a result of lack of stimulation, but can also be as a result of fear or inexperience. Not every women needs to orgasm to enjoy sex, but it can cause relationship issues, so Psychosexual Counselling is often recommended by GPs. Pain during sex is frequently caused by a condition called Vaginismus, where muscle contractions make sex painful. There are possible treatments, including cylindrical trainers to help adjust the vagina to intercourse.

This is having a massive affect on my sex life life as I don't enjoy it but want to. It is upsetting my partner and getting me very down.

Hello, I'm 33 and have been happily with my partner for over six years. Several years ago we stopped having sex as frequently due to our living situation (with parents). Shortly after we started to live together but had fallen into the habit of not having sex as frequently as we used to. I started to notice sex hurt a little (area around the entrance to my vagina) which also put me off and then I became more apprehensive about it, to the point that six years on we hardly have sex at all. I suffer from generalised anxiety disorder, albeit I have it under control most of the time. My partner tells me he can feel me tensing up and thinks it's all anxiety related. Could anyone offer any advice on how I can get out sex life back on track? Thank you

I am 40 and I recently had a second tumor removed from my ovaries, along with exploratory surgery. Now, I am also not feeling anything. My husband called me his unicorn because I could squirt when I orgazimed. I am very frustrated and I am so sad to loose this most enjoyable act of love. Some one, anyone, help. Please.

Hi im 23 and cant feel anything during sex. I can feel the penis entering but nothing after that. The only way i can orgasm is by clitoris.

Please please help me!! I'm 25 and have been with my partner since we were 14. Since giving birth to my son who is now 5 years old, I've had a constant problem with my pubis area. Stretch marks have obviously helped gravity take its toal on my body- but also on the skin from my pubis area. Because of this my whole vagina has dropped and is fat and saggy. (I'm not overweight).I am effected by this day to day. I cannot wear underwear at all as I'm sore. I cannot walk for too long as my vagina rubs inbetween my legs- I constantly have thrush as a result of this. I can't wear jeans or skirts or smart trousers, I live in leggings as they are the comfiest. Not only that, but because the 'sag' is so much my vaginal skin splits and is extremely sore all of the time. I also have not had an orgasm in 5 years and I think all these problems are connected. I really need to know if I can get any type of help with this, it's destroying my life. Is there any type of surgery available that will hopefully lift my skin to where it used to be?!
