Episode 11 - Under the Skin

The doctors catch up with some of the show’s most sensitive and scabby cases, all found on the largest organ in the body – the skin.

Dr Christian helps a man with oozing underarms and armpit odour. Dr Pixie catches up with a man with a bottom wound that wouldn’t heal and a chap who, having lost ten stone, went under the knife to deal with the problem of excess skin. Dr Dawn hits the beaches of Thailand to discover how a tropical skin complaint can turn into a holiday horror story. She also helps beach lovers keep watch on their moles. And Dr James Logan recruits Dr Dawn and Dr Christian to find out just what happens when 50 mosquitoes start munching on the skin.

Hi, I'm going to say that it sounds like it could possibly be a symptom of depression (but you'll need to go to your GP to get this checked properly). However, I have a similar problem known as delayed sleep syndrome: I do not get to sleep until around 5-7 am daily and this is my natural sleep pattern. My neurologist told me that I have one of the worst cases ever recorded and am currently being put under study. I am also allergic to melatonin and will not wake up until about 3-4 pm if I sleep at all (I tend to go days without sleep, my longest being 6 nights). I have also been told that I have a deranged sleep pattern - this could apply to you too I guess? It is a serious condition that you should probably look into getting checked as well. You could also be suffering from anxiety. I know this response is over a year late but I thought it would be useful to others.

Hi. I have been suffering for a sore bum for years on and off now. First it was an infection, which was cleared up with cream then it kept coming back. Now I cannot get rid of it. I have had a colonoscopy and everything. I have constant tearing and itchy pain down there. Its an itch that I need to scratch. Its red and sore and it also smells a bit. It has also now spread to the skin between my testicles and my anus which has become dry itchy and sore also. I do most of the scratching in my sleep. I have been to dermatologists and numerous visits to my GP also and they still do not know what it is. I eat well and exercise. I cannot endure this anymore as it is now affecting my sex life. I understand this is only an advice site as I live in Ireland but I really need a fresh insight! It has been at least 5 years of suffering at this stage and my GP and everyone else I have been to see are stumped! Need help :(

I have itching in the groin area which results in bites and large spots/boils. I feel that something is crawling on me but cannot see anything. I have had my home treated three times for bedbugs but the experts say they are no signs of bugs in my home. Doctors have confirmed that I am being bitten but have not investigated any further and just gave me creams and ointments that have not helped. I am now starting to feel rather depressed with the situation. Can anyone help with what this condition might be?

After having my first baby, I needed stitches. When they healed, I was left with a small lump near my back passage. This was about the size of a match head. Over the years, it has grown and now I have several of these lumps, all about the size of a pea. They are all round my anus, which apart from being sore, makes it very difficult to clean after going to the toilet. Could you tell me what these are, and how they can be treated.

I've had a red bum crack for years. It seems to sweat alot and I can scatch a white layer of what seems like dried sweat every night and morning under my nails. It gathers under my nails and I can then literaly roll it in to a small ball of smeg. I shower every day to no avail. Sometimes after beeing for a poo I can go to the toilet and wipe my bum again an hour after and still find it being dirty.

Hi I have had a sore bum crack on and off for about a year now but sometimes it's more sore than other times.i don't think it's piles and have tried various anus creams but its still ongoing ! I keep it clean and don't sweat to much but sometimes after a bath I put a aloe Vera after shave balm on it as it seems too be the only thing stings for a moment but gets rid of the burning sensation. Would love some advice please ?
