Growing Pains

Burnt Bottom

This week the Doctors are at Wakestock to help out teens with festival ailments. First up in the mobile clinic is 18 year old Alex, who has been left with quite a bad burn on his bottom after being the victim of a practical joke. Dr Christian does not see the funny side of this, and after having a quick look he tells Alex that the most important thing is to keep the burn clean and dry to avoid any scarring.

The EB team would like to thank:

I am 14 years old and often have aching pains in my vaginal area and I wonder if it's necessary to go to the doctors and if anyone has an indication of what this may be! Please help I'm seriously in need of advise before I waste my parents time over growing pains or something 😏😔

I'm almost 15 with excruciating pains in my thighs sometimes arms and knees aswell. I've had this since I've been a baby it kept me up every night crying and my doctors just shrugged it off saying its growing pains. I wasn't to worried when a heating pad and medicine made it better, but at this point I lose hours of sleep and wake up crying. Could this be serious?

same here but i have no armpit hair and i am circumsized (medical reasons)

I was just wondering if their is anything wrong with my hips. When I was three I dislocated my hip very badly and had to have an operation to put it back into place. Now I am 15 sometimes even when I'm just sat down down or walking it feels like my left hip has had somebody come along and rip it apart for about 5 seconds then the pain dies down. It has stopped me from doing some p.e activities such as cross country etc. I thought it might be natural considering I'm a teenager but not even my twin sister has experienced these pains. Please help

Just keep on using a good quality nit comb morning noon and night. Also use vosene medicated shampoo and also try to cut out the conditioner if you use it. Repeat this process daily for about 3 weeks if the nits are still there visit your GP they will prescribe you with Derbac M which generally kills the of within a week.

Can be any number of things, nothing to be embarrassed about at all, though fatty deposits can't be controlled where they go, maybe look at what your eating? Are the foods your eating high in saturated fats and sugars? If so cut them out maybe? Look up conditioning exercises specially towards the leg area, if not dont hesitate to ask a professional their employed to help :)

I get that aswell just feel good about it you are who you are so yes

I'm 14 and I'm worried about my discharge it smells quite strong and I get it almost everyday but I clean myself mostly everyday aswell! What do I do? And I don't want to show my doctor my vagina! And my I eat a lot and I get worried about not eating enough and I just don't want anything to happen to me and I'm quite fat and I want to be a little bit slimmer and my boobs grow downwards and I'm a 36/38 'C'! And I've never let any one touch my vagina and I've never had sex and never want to! What shall I do? And is that normal??

This is COMPLETELY normal! Many girls of your age are exactly be the same. Different "bits" develop at different stages. I'm sure many girls in your class are jealous that you don't have to cope with these things. Don't worry about it, it will all happen in time but maybe if you still haven't had your period by 16 have a quick check-up with your GP to make sure you're okay! Don't be scared!

I didn't start my period until I was 15/16, in year 10! So don't worry about it. I'm still irregular now and I'm 18! you've probably heard this before, but try to enjoy not having to worry about having a period at the moment. :)

Dont worry about this, I like you had small breasts at this age. Most of my friends started their periods beforethe age of 13, but I didnt start mine until I was 15.Like you my boobs were very small but I have notice that just after my 16th birthday they have appeared out of nowhere. I was a 28AA at age 12 and it very gradually went up to a 30C. But now I am proud to say that I am now a 32DD, and the majority of my friends are smaller now. It totally depends on each individual but yours will arrive, in due time. Best if luck

Your body will start in its own time mine did my pains started in may last year and started in December the next year I put it down to my eating but I don't know x
