Itchy bottom is normally a symptom rather than a condition, and is characterised by a persistent strong urge to scratch the skin around the anus. Read more →

I'm 15 and I have a problem with the skin on my vagina. I used to shave a lot when I was on holiday and my skin is sensitive and it became irritated, I scratched it and the skin went really sore, now my skin has healed but its extremely pale white and has been for a couple of years. I just wanted to know if I was the only one who has experienced this problem and if it will go away or not. I'm too scared to go see my GP to ask them because I'm too worried, help? :s

I'm am 21 and have only has two sexual partners since I became intimate. This second guy is much different from my first and the intimacy is much longer and intense, I have also switched to a new birth control and have had spotting while on the pill for over 10 days now and so have been using tampons and pads on and off. My vaginal area is sore around the opening, red, and is irritated which causes an itching feelings. I don't have this feeling during sex, but I seem to have it many other times during the day. Is it caused by the use of tampons or the sex? Should I go to a doctor or it is just irritated and needs a rest?

From my own experience with the pill, when I have my period or start spotting, I tend to get a bit itchy and red down there, too. It's almost as if it changes acidity or something. It's just irritated and needs a rest, basically. My redness and itching goes away after a few days, and in the meantime, I try not to wash my vagina too much (if at all). You're probably getting over it now. If it doesn't go away after a week, definitely go see a GP.

I have an extremly flakiy scalp that regularly scabs over. Its very irritated and red and is very itchy. I also have very dry flaky skin on my face so i think they may be connected? I have tried moisturiser and medicated shampoo but up to now i can find no solution.

I have a small flap of skin by the opening of my anus. Sometimes it gets irritated, particularly when going to the toilet, and sometimes it bleeds. It started when I was put on iron tablets and has been a problem on and off since. What is it, and how can I stop it being a problem?

Buy cotton 'moisturising gloves' and wear them at night. You can get them on the high street. If you need to, keep them on with hair elastics at the wrists. Should lessen the damage you do whilst sleeping. Also, cut your nails. I love having long nails but you transfer bacteria with every scratch, it gets infected and looks worse. Don't get lazy with your eczema routine, it will make your life harder in the long run. If you can avoid it, don't shave until the eczema is less bad. You'll just shave off your scabs, and it might scar! (Depending on how bad your eczema is)

I seem to have piles all the time, sometimes they will become itchy and sore but generally I feel nothing but they always look purple in colour, should I see a gp? I also have what seems like a tab of skin that sometimes becomes irritated but is 'normal' in colour ? I have had this at least a year I also suffer with ibs so bowel habits can change regularly

Hi, I've got a skin tag at the top of my bum below my belt but between my cheeks. I've had it for about 10 years, but in the last 3 years it's grown bigger and often becomes irritated and bleeds. My GP didn't seem concerned about it, but it's getting me down every time it starts bleeding (I also have ITP which worries me when I lose blood). Is it safe to remove given my other condition?

HI, My GP has frozen and then burnt mine off, I did bleed a bit, maybe this is why he is reluctant to remove it? Ive now got them on my eye lids as well as on my torso.

To all users who are experiencing red bumps on recently shaved areas: especially on the pubic area, when you shave it's natural for you skin to become irritated. If you experience bumps that you think are ingrown hairs, gently remove the dead skin with a clean sewing needle, exfoliator, or a salt or sugar scrub. If the bumps keep appearing every time you shave, try using a non-fragrance shaving cream or balm. This will help your skin to become less irritated when you shave. Do not pluck hairs repeatedly after the ingrown hair is gone! This risks infection and puss buildup. Thank you!

i have a ring worm/ rash like looking thing on the side of my inner left thigh/ bikini area. it doesnt itch or hurt at all, but is of a little bit of skin that seems to be really dry. i assumed it was a ring worm and used anti-fungal cream but i realised nothing seemed to be changing with it. i consulted my doctor and she told me it was nothing to worry about, but just a part of my skin that mustve been irritated of sum sort. she also included that it'll clear up on its own soon, and to just keep it clean and moist with cream. i have been doing that for the last 2 weeks but nothing has changed. i havent been sexually active AT ALL and still a virgin so it cant be something that has been transmitted, so im left confused and irritated with the sight of it and the fact its left undiagnosed. please if any one has a clue of what it is and how i can get rid of it, just comment. i'll appriciate it very much x

I think I have a skin tag at the entrance to my anus. It's a dangling flap of skin. Most of the time it doesn't bother me, but sometimes it becomes very irritated. It itches really bad, especially when I wipe. What is this and what do I do?

Hi I have had an itchy anus, (the loose skin area) for a good 8months now. It is sore to touch, and the skin has become a little paler and irritated. There has been no bleeding, or bumps whatsoever. Should I be worried?

Unless you're in pain no its normal.

Hi :) When you shave your skin gets very irritated sometimes so that might be what it is dont worry this is normal and when people shave it happens all the time :) You might just have sensitive skin :)

He probably just irritated his penis skin during sex. This is quite common actually. Penis health cremes are definitely the best way to treat these kinds of skin irritations. But I wouldn't be too freaked out if I were you. Get tested so you know for sure. Good luck.

Use more lube and prepare with plenty of foreplay! The skin is most likely irritated from the friction and that is definitely normal.

Hi I have had skin tags on my left vulva for years I have had them removed twice but they have grown back. I am very embarrased by them and have tried a very expensive tea tree oil which did not work and just irritated my skin. I have even tried to remove them with a stanley knife with no success please are there any natural ways in which I can use to remove them.

Hi Im 16 and have suffered from acne since I was 11. It can leave you feeling really paranoid and lead to a low self esteem. I felt so down that i went to my doctor. I tried Zineryt solution which was absolutely no good - it left my skin roaring red and irritated. I then tried Minocycline tablets and really didnt see a change so i stopped taking them. I was referred to a Dermotologist who put me on the pill. I also felt that was no good. She gave me a gel called Duac once daily gel. I apply this on the affected areas on my face and the spots go down within a day or two. This has made a big improvement to my skin. I used to use clearasal as a cleanser but i woudln't recommend it as it left my skin serverly dry and irritated. I personally recommend the Neutrogena range "Visibly Clear". I use the 2 in 1 cleasner, oil-free moisturiser and the gel. I now have a weekly routine of: 1. Steaming my face to open the pores 2. Exfoliating to remove dirt and dead cells 3. Applying my 2 in 1 cleanser ( leave it on as a mask for five minutes) 4. Rinse my face with cold water to close pores 5. Apply spot treatment. Tip: Let your skin breathe. Try not to wear foundation on a regular basis. Hope this is a help .
