Don't worry so many people suffer from acne but i am exactly the same with the swimming and staying over friends! i have gone to the doctors and instead of creams ask for oral medication, there are two options of antibiotics or the pill which is also the contraceptive pill, your GP will talk through which is best for you and the side effects i hope this helps. i got put on the pill last week and its such a relief knowing my acne will go down soon!

Try going to your GP and asking for a referral to a dermatologist they have many more resources to help and also many more powerful drugs that can clear it more effectively

I would try Accutane. Antibiotics work but usually only short term. Benzoyl peroxide scrubs (the stronger ones from your doctor) will also help it short term. Accutane is usually a once and done medication. Usually taking it for 6 months to a year will clear it forever (USUALLY). There is another medication called spiro that is known to clear hormonal acne (but only while you take it). Both of these medications can have severe side effects, and you MUST be on birth control before taking it otherwise they will not prescribe it. See a dermatologist and discuss all of your options first. I woildn't worry about your fiancé. I'm sure he loves you no matter what or you wouldn't be getting married! Congratulations, and don't worry, your acne can be managed.

I'm 18 and I've had acne since I was 9. Having been on the pill for about 9 months, my acne is improving a lot but this has just revealed loads of acne scars. Problem is, they aren't like either of the types of scar described above, they are mostly like white, raised freckles all over my chest, back and face. Does this mean that the treatments you've mentioned won't work since they seem to aim to fill in indentations in the skin?

everyone's skin type is different from one another, some products may work for you but not for others. I had the same problem more or less everyone does, some are more serious than others. best healing secret 1) drink a lot of water- flushes down unwanted bacteria 2)you can use lemon mixed with a bit of sugar or honey- helps to fade down scars 3)you can purchase vitamin E creams at boots- helps with irritated skin best thing is try to avoid looking at mirrors, as it encourages you to pick on your face which makes it even worse when bacteria spreads and you get even more scars. good luck - and remember be happy with the way you look- inside is what really counts

Im a 36 year old male and since my teenage years I've had acne on my face and scalp. The acne only appear where my hair i.e beard and scalp, not on the nose, cheeks or forehead. The acne is very painful specially on the scalp. I've tried all kinds of medication including roaccutane which did get rid of the acne but as soon as i stopped the acne came back. I have type 2 diabetes an i do not wish to continue with roaccutane as it interferes with my blood readings? Is there anything i can do or take to stop the acne? Thanks

Different things work for different people. The first treatment I got for my acne only made it worse and stayed worse:/ I had to switch medicine and dermatologist for it to improve! Benzoyl peroxide never really worked for me, it burns my face and is overall very drying. Won't hurt to try for yourself though!

I have had acne since the age of 13. i'm 23 now. I just recently started getting acne on my chest and neck before that it was on my face and back. But my back has got worse over the years. i have been to the dermatologist and have been on the pill dioanette this has not worked for me this has just given me more acne on my arms.I am now using acne free an American product which has cleared my skin but my acne still comes up when i'm on my period. the Chinese herb pill i'm using is working as well. Can you still help me please?

Maybe the Regimen on Acne.org might work for you?

I love this show, but this doesn't seem to apply to me. My diet definitely causes my acne. When I'm away from home and eating what I make, no acne. When I'm at home and someone else is cooking for me (Very different stuff to what I cook for myself), it comes back. I've heard (and read) from other GPs who say they're tired of hearing that 'diet and acne are not connected'. There have been studies of communities which don't have a western diet, and they have had not one single case of acne. There was even a long study on Inuit skin as they transitioned from their traditional diet to a western one. Before: no acne at all, on anyone. After: quite a lot of acne...

I get acne on my back, chin, forehead, nose, and areas around the nose commonly, except, I don't get much at all. Sometimes I get medium-sized pimples, which I don't pop unless I feel the time is right. I never pop my pimple when their big and juicy. Do you consider pimples acne? Is it normal to not get very much acne at all? I also find it interesting that you call acne, spots, in the US we just call it acne.

I'm 14 and I have bad acne. I got my first pimples in 4th grade. I feel like an outcast because of it. Not many others have bad acne like me at my school. It is the only thing I'm insecure about. I act so confident at school just so people can look past the acne. Is it normal to have bad acne at my age and for the last few years?

It's not a bad thing at all! You're hormones just started up early. It happens in plenty of people.

I'm the exact same and I've ended up going to a dermotologist (not sure if I spelt that right) who gave me tablets that cleared my skin up completely within 2 months!

I have been told I may have PCOS due to irregular periods and acne. My acne gets me so down and I have heard that there is a drug called spironolactone for helping reduce acne. has any other acne/PCOS sufferers been on this medication and how did you find it ?

im also 14 years old, just drink alot of water and in i found in 1 week drinking 4-7 glasses of water a day daily works a treat. But i've still got acne becuase by the third day i couldn't be bothered just commit to it and they should go. x

Try not to touch your face because acne is caused by bacteria being pushed out the skin by sebum, this causes a 'spot'. Try a brand called nutrogena and wash your face twice daily, also diet is really important. You are what you eat !

Hi, I'm 19 and i have lots of acne on my back chest and arm. I don't even know if i can call it acne but it's a red spot doesn't have a head or anything. Most of the doctor I've visited said if was because of my skin is blocking the hair from coming out and created an acne. I tried all the medicine but it doesn't seem to work. so i wonder what should i use to get rid of there acne?

I'm 14 years old and I began getting acne around a year ago. My problem zones differ, but right now I seem to be getting acne mostly on my forehead. It's no where near chronic, but it still tends to be embarrassing. I am currently on a prescription pill, medicated acne cream, and an acne face wash, and none of them seem to be helping. I've also tried home remedies, but as I stated before nothing seems to work. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!! F

Try using ProActive which you can find in Boots, the big stores. They're quite pricey but it does help keep acne at bay and helps with blemishes as well. It does take time to start working. It's helped me as I suffered with acne since I was a teen and tried everything from prescription pills, creams and even Tea Tree face wash and never did much.

Go back to your GP and request something stronger :3 - Lee xx

i have had acne since 11 yrs old, and it persists still on my back and is often painful and bleeds. just wanted to suggest a medicine that has helped me - lymecycline. Its not for extremely severe acne (best ask doctor about Roaccutane in these cases), but for moderate/severe/persistant acne. It worked wonders, and the acne it reduced has never returned. but some has remained especially on my back, so i'm gonna speak to GP again. you have to give the meds at least 8 weeks to work tho!!! no quick fixes, but that should be ok its better then a lifetime with acne!!

I had severe acne but have just undergone an acne treatment programme with Hydrohealing a treatment centre in Notting Hill. My acne has improved by 80% and i am almost acne free. They have an amazing treatment called hydrodermabrasion which has worked a treat.

Hi i'm 17 years old and i have had bad acne for about 5 years now. It is all over my face, back and upper arms. Recently it has started to fade but only a tiny bit. However it has faded enough for me to see it has left my skin in a bad way. My questions are i have a couple of holes in my forehead from the acne, can i get rid of these? Also in the 5 years i have had acne i've seen other people have acne and then it went, how come i've had it for so long and its hardly improved at all? It is really affecting my life.
