Hi, I seem to suffer with extreme itchiness when I've nicked or cut myself (shaving for example). i know itching usually means its healing but the itching is so intense i scratch until the whole surrounding area bleeds. the itching seems to spread further outwards from the original site. It becomes unbearable at times. I've had this problem on my legs, hands and very lower back. how can I ease the itching?

Hi, I'm 14, and I've had this constant itching in my ear for the past 6 months or so. It's on the inside and I end up itching my ear about 20-30 times a day just to try and relive it! It's driving me nuts! It's only in the right ear, but my left one produces really clear liquids wax, but doesn't itch. This itching of the right ear goes right down the side of my neck, from the ear, round the back of the jaw and then toward my tonsils and that general area. I don't want to go to the doctors cause its not really serious... My mum said it might be to do with the fact I'm growing but I've not had it for my whole life.... Please if anyone knows how to stop it it would be so greatly appreciated!! :)

I have an 8yr old daughter who for her age is tall,so her weight is also more than the average 8yr old, for the past few months she has been complaining of itching, mainly on her stomach and chest area but also less of a problem on her legs and arms, we have no idea why this is happening, but have given her Piriton Syrup, which at times has helped, does anyone know why this itching would be happening to her (no one else in the family has any type of itching problem) and is there anything I can do to help her, as she is making herself bleed now due to scratching, many thanks x

Someone please give an answer to this. I began thrush symptoms on Thursday night and proceeded to my doctor on Friday who prescribed a pessary and cream to use overnight. It is now Sunday and the itching is still there!

Hello, This is extreamly embarrassing for me, but over the past two weeks i've been suffering from vaginal dryness, soreness and extream itching. I was thinking it might be to do with the antibiotics i was taking for something else, I was given many different courses of antibiotics when finally one worked (klaracid) & i've been off them for 2 weeks, which is when the extreame itching started. I ho so hoped it would settle down but it's just horrible to live with! I've tried anticeptic creams and they calm it down for an hour or so, but it isn't clearing up. It now hurt when i go to the toilet because i've been itching so much. It also worrys me because i'm 17, and i've only ever had one peroid (in feb) and well.. it makes me think somethings wrong. Please help?

It sounds like you may have a thrush infection which is very common after antibiotics. You can get medication from the chemist or your GP. The combination of a single tablet and cream for your vaginal area works best. Canesten Duo is one but supermarkets do their own brands which are the same but cheaper!!

hello, sometimes antibiotics can cause an ulteration in the vagina, be it dryness, change in consistency of discharge and even on some ocasions it can be the cause of a yeast infection, such as thrush which is particularly common and easily treated, by a cream, oral pill or pesory. My advice would be to pop into see your GP to give you a perscription of treatment, also it is in my past experiance that eating natural bio yogart for breakfast and fruits such as kiwis, pineapples and bannanas that contain enzymes and vitamins that can help with vaginal dryness and discharge consistensy. In regards to the anticeptic cream, there could be some chemicals that could be too harsh on the area but being an antiseptic it could also contain a small amout of anasthetic that would reduce any inflamation, remember this is the most sencitive part of your body! it would not remove the problem which would only cause re-ocurances, I hope this helps best of luck. :)

hi i sufer from itching anus, also it is very wet or sweaty so much so i use toilet roll pads to soak it up during the day which helps the itch would it be i have wot they would call itching piles if so wot treatment is available? i have had this for many years

hi i am 22 years old and have had a problem with anal itching and bleeding for just over a year now. i thought the itching was caused by worms but i have not seen worms in my stools at all, then i recently noticed a smallcut on my anus. it will heal but then when i go to the toilet again it just gets torn. the cut has now healed for a while but the itching is still there. is the itching caused by the cut or are they two different problems?i have tried anusol but it doesn't seem to work. i am slightly worried as i have heard that anal itching can be quite serious as it can be linked to cancer, is this true?

I have the same thing. But it is on the hood or skin above vagina on my pubic bone. I have had several creams from doctor but nothing helps. Also I found shaving down there kept me from itching but only for a day. It gets so sore and looks like eczema. I hope you get an answer as well but it seems a lot of girls and women get it as well. As I searched Internet forums and no one seems to know what it is or what can help :(.

I'd try a combination of Lanacane for the itching plus either Canesten for thrush, or Daktarin with 2% Ketoconazole. I have been applying this combo for two weeks, and it has almost cleared now.

Hi, I'm 45 and blood tests revealed I'm going through the menopause although no hot flushes just yet. I was also very itchy down below and the doctor said I have a condition called lichen sclerosus, I have to wash using aqueous cream which has been a really big help. They also gave me a steroid cream which I was instructed to use only if it flares up badly. The doctor also said with this condition, I'm going to be susceptible to thyroid trouble, which my mum has. After talking to my mum and sisters, it turns out we all have this itching problem. I have urged them to see their doctors. I had never heard of this condition before so it's worth checking it out.

Hi I have been itching all over for about 3 weeks now, I get a white itching rash and welt marks that come up when I itch then it disappears and it settles down for a few days it then starts again, the Palm of my hands and feet itch, and my buttocks, it dosent keep me up at night but it's very strange, after an hour the itching will settle down, but it's concerning me now. Once I manage to stop itching rh rash settles and my skin goes back to normal! Any ideas what this could be?

I went to the doctors a few months ago for my itching skin, with no rash or symptoms. He suggested it may be scabies, however I did not have any white marks. White lines on the skin is a key symptom of scabies.

Yes, definitely get that checked out by a doctor. These things rarely get better on their own. Doctors see this type of thing all the time, and they're very used to it, so don't worry about it, just get it checked out.

Sounds like a possible yeast infection. Since you are uncertain, it is important that you see your doctor.

About 2 weeks ago I've had unprotected sex with few days after I started itching inside my vagina and I also was having some discharge with it, but I'm not having any pain or a foul smell with it. The itching lasted for about a week and it's no longer itching but I'm still having the discharge. Does anyone know what this might be?

Hi there, I have had constant itching in the anal area for about 2 months now, but cant seem to see anything abnormal around the area. The itching seems to be most common at night when in bed. I have tried a treatment cream called anasol which does prevent the itching, but has not cured the problem. Can anyone help or relate to the problem. Many Thanks.

Hi,I've had problems with itching inner labia and in the vaginal opening for three months. Was first diagnosed as yeast infection and bacterial vaginos, and got oral medication. But the itching didn't stop. Went and got checked again and the gynecologist said it looks healthy and to just wait it out. But itching still remains. Since three days I'm also experiencing pain in the uterus that comes and goes and vary in intensity. Anyone knows what this might be and how to treat it? Thanks in advance :)

Could be a strep infection, which is itchy and causes redness, but no bumps or tash. This can be caused by bacteria from the rectum/anus coming in contact with the vulva. They can culture specifically for this. It can be treated with capsules of boric acid placed in the vagina. These have to be made by a pharmacy as I could not find them over the counter and it was not recommended that I buy empty capsules and fill myself.

I too have dealt with this while beginning the early stages of menopause. I had partial hysterectomy so I didn't have a cycle but started journaling the onset of this itching was right after the breasts were tender as if I was about to have a cycle. Every time the breasts got tender the itching came about two weeks .... Around time my cycle should be present. My dr gave me a script for diflucan pills and took one daily for 10 days each cycle. As my symptoms became few and far between with absent cycles the itching was at bay. I went several years suffering before realizing this. It's hormonal and bacteria imbalance I guess. Never got a name for it but finally got some relief with longer treatment with yeast meds.hope this helps.

I have had a severe itching in my head and ears for well over a year now. It’s very embracing as I’m sure people think I have nits. I have been to the doctors over ten times and now I have just given up on going. It gets so bad sometimes I want to rip my hair out. I have now shaved my head to calm the itching. The problem is that there is no evidence of anything causing the itch. I have alopecia but I have been told that would not cause itching. I have tried cutting out different foods too thinking it may be an allergic reaction but no luck there either.

I am female so dont want to shave off my waist length hair. I havent changed soap powder or shampoos etc so am struggling to find a trigger. Even standing under a warm shower doesnt bring relief. I have had a battery of blood tests and nothing of any significance has showed up. Frustrating isnt it

Hi Barry, Have you actually done an allergy test? I have been diagnosed with an iron allergy and anything i eat containing iron causes me itching all over, most on my head. Unfortunately I am therefore aneamic and need to take iron in shots or tablet form, I am taking Zirtek to try to relieve the itching. But its not helping all the time.

Dave, I am a 40 yr old male and I started with vitiligo in the same place and with the intense itching about 5 yrs ago. It has now spread onto my hands too but it is quite common to get it round the genitals and bum area so its nothing strange at all. Antibiotics and thrush cream completely stopped my itching but the vitiligo will always be here to stay. Scratching or itching the skin will often start off a new white patch.

I too am 14 and have had worms for about four days now. It does not affect me during the day however in the evenings it drives me insane with all the itching. Itching is very stressful and probably worse than pain, especially if you know you can't scratch it. I suggest showering at night, then applying Vagisil or Savlon around and inside your anus and vagina, to soothe the itching. You may have to do this several times during the night if it disturbs you from sleeping, but you'll eventually fall asleep and wake up free of itching until the next night. Try and distract yourself by listening to music, or just will yourself to fall asleep for a blessed end to the itching. Treatment should be available over the pharmacy counter, although good hygiene must be maintained in order to prevent another infection. If you find it embarrassing, talk to a close family member about what you're experiencing and they will offer support and further suggestions.
