I am 30 years old I have fought with obesity my whole life. I was 26 stone at my heaviest. I have worked very very hard to lose the weight with no pills or help at all, I am now down to 15 stone and I am losing more every week. However I have lots of extra skin. Its to the point that I would prolly be very close to my idea weight if the skin was removed. Is there anything I can do to tone the skin up, I already get plenty of activity and exersize. I get horible rashes and boils and other skin blisters from all the skin. and frankly I'd almost rather be fat then have this skin and the sores and problems it causes. what can be done?

Hi, I really feel for you. I am going through the same thing, not as bad though. I was 19.5 stone and now down to 12.5 stone. I am probably too thin it's just the excess skin keeping my weight up. I am have started doing weights for the last 5 months, 4 times a week, and have been watching my diet, eating lots of protein. I have seen some improvements, but very very slowly. I am going to keep at it til next August to give it every chance of succeeding, but it is a struggle as everyday I think I am going crazy. I have never gone to the beach my whole life, never taken my top off in front of anyone. I can't even have a girlfriend. I hope the exercise works, if not I will go for the surgery as I have to get rid of it. I hope you find a an answer. But I think it is surgery to get rid of the excess skin. keep working on it.

Im 48 and also been fighting obesity all my life. I was 21stone 6ft tall. I got down to 12 1/2 stone and was going to the gym all the time. Going to the gym will certainly tone you up but you would have to put on loads of muscle to hide loose skin and then you have to have the right genetic build for it! I even considered illegally using steroid injections to weight train, but because I had slimmed to be healthy I thought pumping myself full off lethal crap was contradictory to what I set out to do in the first place. My view is I can either stare at my loose skin or stare at my scars from plastic surgery. What I can't stare at is a lean healthy weight body without scars or either loose skin sadly. But at least I will live to see my kids grow up.

i have a skin tag looking little flap a bit whitish in color between the lips and beging part of the vagina some ways above my clitoris skin tag or a wart? i will be going to my doctor in two days but i am so worried and driving my self crazy i would love an opinion the skin tag looking flap sticks out and is not flush with the surrounding skin also there is only one andi am also 13 weeks pregnant and also heavy set like i said looks like a skin tag please help thank you

Male, 20. I had a Skin Tag located in my arm pit for a number of years before it thrombosed and fell away from the skin. However a couple of months afterwards, I recently have found a small lump under my skin, from where the skin tag used to exist. The lump is painful to touch at the moment. Should I be concerned?

I would have it checked into regardless of what was there previously or not...

I'm 15 and I have a problem with the skin on my vagina. I used to shave a lot when I was on holiday and my skin is sensitive and it became irritated, I scratched it and the skin went really sore, now my skin has healed but its extremely pale white and has been for a couple of years. I just wanted to know if I was the only one who has experienced this problem and if it will go away or not. I'm too scared to go see my GP to ask them because I'm too worried, help? :s

Hi I'm 20 years old and I have recently managed lose 15 stone over the course of 9 months, going from 25 stone to 10 but doing this has left my skin to sag hideously. Is there any possibility that the skin might heal and tighten over time or will I need to perform certain exercises to help the skin firm up. I've already consulted my local GP and been rejected for any surgery to remove the excess skin. Are there anymore options?

I don't suffer from acne, however, I do have a lot of blackheads around my nose area which is very frustrating. I hate using skin products because I am scared that they'll make my skin worse. I also have a relatively good diet, so I don't understand where I am getting these spots from? Are there any treatments that i could use to make my skin better? I have even resorted to putting lemons on my face because i read the acid dries out your skin! help...

Hi, First off blackheads are caused by 1)growing up and 2) Makeup . If you were makeup Id get a good makeup remover. Skin products wont make blackheads worse atall. If anything Id try Clean& Clear scrubs for blackheads they work a treat.. Dont put lemons On it will make it worse. Hope it helped.

Hi. I have suffered for about 2 years now with dry skin on my penis, I am circumcised and the dry skin seems to be on the head of my penis and around the left side of the pulled back skin. This can get itchy and sometimes break the skin making it quite sore aswell as being embaressing. I have been to see different doctors and a dermatologist, I have been prescribed several steroid creams, e45, immolients, I have also used moisturisers, witch hazel, also putting products in my baths etc. Having the steroid creams several times has started to just ruin my skin and is getting a bit OTT now. Someone help with what I can do???

The labia majora (outer lips) appear to be goose bumpy? That's probably the result of plucking the hairs out. Some people just have bumpy hair follicles - it's nothing to worry about. The loose skin in the middle is likely your labia minora (inner lips) and/or clitoral hood. It's extremely common for them to be visible, or hang down past the labia majora - most women are like that. Puberty causes the vulva to change significantly (and somewhat unpredictably, since everyone's body is unique), and and many of the changes you've noted are common. The dark skin, and changes in size and appearance of the labia are likely related to puberty. These changes are a normal part of becoming an adult, and will likely last a long time. The vulva continues to change as you get older, so who knows what will happen, but the changes will be far less significant that those that you've already experienced. The elasticity change is a little surprising though - the labia often become more elastic during and after puberty. If you mean they've become more wrinkled, that often does happen too. I don't think there's any cause for concern, but you can always talk to a doctor if you're worried about anything.

In about March 2010 after masturbating and then sleeping without washing the next day I had developed white patches on my penis head (glans). Well I regret it now but basically I panicked and scratched the skin badly and left my self with scar marks there, almost like deep lines on my penis head. Ever since the skin on my penis can be very dry. The skin now a days looks ok when my penis is flaccid and it can be ok when I get an erection. But after I get an erection and the penis goes flaccid again the skin looks withered, dry, wrinkly and scaly. The skin goes like this also after ejaculatio. After being to the doctors I have used Canesten but to no affect. I am now using Bio OIl to try and stop the skin going like this but im not sure if this will work, I am a virgin so I know the problem is not an STI. Does anyone have any advice?? Thanks.

I have callous skin in the palm of my hands, espically in the joints of the finger, I use a blade to pear away piles of skin and then sand paper or a foot file to smooth the skin over. When the skin is high, it is difficult for cream to be absorbed. I have to do this every week. I have be told that I have ezema in my palms and have had a patch test but it identified no allergies. I have used eucerin and dermavote but no to no avail. - think if I had a skin peel it would clear it away and allow new skin to come through, smooth, but have been advised against. What would you suggest?

I was born with severe icthyosis,I've used Epaderm all of my life which is OK but just mosturises the skin. I found out about creams that contain low levels of acid that burn the skin off. My scales were thick and applying small amounts of the cream on a regular basis got rid of the skin and revealed the normal looking layer underneath. I used neostrata problem dry skin. Made a big difference I am now 26 and have never had any confidence because of my skin.

hi hayley, i went to a specialist who suggest taking a shower every day or every two days and using e45 or any cream that says it helps with seriously dry skin. this show help with your skin drying out and the inching. the problem is with the E45 you should use it everyday and well as moisturising shower gels and when it comes to waxing or shaving your legs make sure you are using the ones that say for sensitive skin as the normal skin wax strips and shaving gel with irritate or even dry your skin out a bit more.

at first that part of skin is vunerable and tattooing it would'nt be the best thing to do it might lead to other skin issues it has nothing to do with food diet or the way of living it just pops there and i have had it for 4 years and what i do is just apply makeup to the patches (fake tan can also be used) and take care of my skin applying sunscreen and avoiding sun in the summer because these patches are very delicate skin and not taking care of it might cause skin cancer

Hello. I'm 18 and ever since I was a little girl I had this itchiness on my private area. It's not really inside my vagina its just below it, on the skin really. I've been scratching to much to the point were my skin has gotten a bit dark. I know that if I scratch too much my skin will get tired of recreating the skin that was lost. There was a time were I got it cured but then it got worst. Can it be the material that I'm using or with what I'm washing it? Any recommendations will be grateful! Thank You.

Hello, I went to Greece in July 2009, I slept in the sun for four hours, I did put sun block on. The skin went bright red and scabbed up, I pulled a tiny amount of teh skin off which I regret now. I came home and the nine months on the skin still hasn't grown much where the scab was, will this skin grow back in the place of the scab? I also have a white patch on my skin a form of Pigmentation will this go away ? I do use Bio-Oil everyday and this has helped a lot and I sometimes exfoliate. The leg looks horrible I don't want to ever show it again! Please help. Many thanks

it is from shaving, you have very sensitive skin. i would quite for awhile and trying getting it professionally wax, the European style. from pretty kitty or a well known high review place. if you do decide to keep shaving, make sure you warm up your skin and get the razor hot with hot water (be careful) shave with the grain of skin, then use a nice moisturizer to smooth the skin. also helps to use cold water after done shaving so to close the pores of the skin. also wear loose close or something that wont rub up against the skin for at-least a day right after shaving.

Hi, I'm 27 and have been abusing my skin in the sun and sunbeds since my teens. I've black hair, quite tanned skin naturally and don't have any moles. I've recently been worrying about my chances of getting skin cancer after many years of abusing my skin. As I don't have any moles am I still at a high risk of developing skin cancer and what kind of symptoms would I be looking out for?

darker skin around the outer vagina is normal. However, if you have sensitive skin, shaving can cause small nicks or abrasions of the skin if done improperly and cause the skin of the outer vagina to darken more than what is normal. This darkening is called hyperpigmentation. You may need to wax instead. See a doctor such as a dermatologist for more information on how this skin should be treated.

I have a miracle cure for you all - Banana skin! Cut off a square of banana skin with a knife and use a plaster to stick in on to your foot where your verruca is. Change it every morning and night - it doesn't matter if you forget or can't do it one day. The banana skin will kill the skin, so every day/every other day get some scissors and cut away the dead skin, but make sure you don’t cut it so it bleeds. Eventually the verruca will come out. Then it will be gone max I’ve known is 2 weeks! It's amazing!!!

Hi just a quick question - do you put the banana skin skin side down onto the verruca or flesh side down? Also, I'm sure I read on here last night that someone suggested putting nail varnish or duct tape on them. I'm currently trying nail varnish - i'll let you all know how I get on.

Sorry you use the flesh side on your skin. Also if you keep the banana in the fridge then it won't rot so you can cut more skin off the same banana! Good Luck!

I'm a 19 year old female, and the past year I've been getting pimples on my face. I'm on medication for it which has made my skin better, but it hasn't cleared up. Everything I use on my skin is Simple, and I take care of my skin daily. Why isn't my skin clearing up? And what's the best method to treat acne?

I had skin tags on my neck, and after doing some research I bought a bottle of iodine for less than £1. I applied it regularly (2-3 times daily) with a cotton but and within 2 weeks the skin tags died and fell off. Iodine does discolour the skin a little, but this is only temporary. The skin tags feel irritating for a couple of days, but those were the only problems I had. I would definitely use this method again to remove skin tags.

hi do you know if it is it ok to use on back passage? many thanks

it's your skin drying out, due to middle age mate. You need to gentley streach it out (couple of mins a day). Be careful not to split the skin, use a cream (plain/non perfumed)to moisturise it (outer skin only). If you split the skin, just let it heal and try again. Good Luck

hi, my name's nikki - i am 17 years old and have a dry rash around my vagina.. and the skin between the vagina and anus seems to have painful tears. i have been to the doctor and been treated for thrush but it hasnt gone away. also, i have very small, hardened skin lumps on creases of skin outside the vaginal area - they are the same colour as my skin - what could they be?
