My mum had symptoms the same as these, she was mis-diagnosed with a peptic ulcer and the symptoms only got worse she ended up with gall stones but she went through horrific pain and had to call the manager of our surgery to have it looked into so press on. ope he is OK.

I was diagnosed with IBS 4 years ago with bloating and unbelievable belching. I was able to control it, now it has come back but now with nausea 247. Doctors say its the IBS, ive been tested for most things and everything has come back negative. Ive been to a hypnotist and still going. It helped at first but now the nausea has taken over my life. Do you have any ideas what it can be?

I suffer from uncontrollable pungent belching. I've had it intermittently for 15 years but it's getting worse recently. It's usually controllable on 20mg omeprazole, but I'm now taking 40mg to no avail. I'm type 1 diabetic (for 27 years) and have been showing signs of autonomic neuropathy. I'm desperate for help as my work involves being close up to strangers

    Get check for helicobacter pylori.

Hi, Last april 2010 I had an abortion, and ever since then I have had very irregular bleeding and pains. I get a sharp/dull aches in my lower left quadrant which comes 10 days before my period, and is there untill my period starts. My last period it was so painful, it left me cycling on my bed for hours.. I was sick and had hot and cold sweats with it to. The pain was so close to being identical to my medical termination pain! .. Some random months ill get a brown or pink discharge for a few days. This april I had to periods in 1 month and again with my last one that lasted for 9 days!! I had a smear test which came back severe dyskarosis.. I had a coloscopy along with a biospy. The doctor who done it said it was CIN 1 CIN 2. I am still awaiting my results... But.. I know no symptoms come with dyskarosis which are cells before they turn into cervical cancer.. And I'm only 21 and I had another smear before the one that came back as severe and that one was mild.. So it couldn't have turned into cancer yet and I have a good appetite and I don't bleed after sex or with anything touching my cervix.. But one thing I am worried about, I had sex 2 nights ago which resulted in me having exruciating pain for around 40 mins, shooting pains in every direction.. Throught my anus and vagina and all in the inside, everytime I would move or sit, BANG shooting pain! I had this about 6 months ago aswell. I went to the docotrs yesterday and he put it down to my cervix being raw still from the biopsy.. Which it is obviosuly not from that! Also I have been diagnosed with IBS... Which I just think its the endometrosis maybe growing on my bowel, I suffer from loud belching that could win me a contest and I don't think that has nothing to do with IBS.. Any awnsers would be much appreciated! D

Hi Neil I see you have just recently been diagnosed with IBS for just over a year. I've been Suffering now for just over a year myself, started with tummy ache and diarrhea. As the months went on the stomach pain and diarrhea was intermittent. About August/September the pain had moved to more of a dull ache in the stomach feeling of being hungry but you knew you wasn't. I also developed more gas wanting to pass wind and belching. From late November my stomach has felt so unsettled bubbling gurgling noisey sounding like liquid with a dull ache with loose bowel movements, along with belching, feeling sick but have never been sick. My doctors have not really given me anything for my stomach apart from mebeverine and told to take it 20 mins before foods which I haven't felt and use. I've also had an endoscopy done and the finding was a cute gastritis. But they still putting this down to IBS. And advice or suggestions.

Since being on insulin 2 months ago I pass wind all day n night n it smells bad, I also on odd days get eggy belching I've also put weight on

Hi there i am 25yrs and have suffered the exact same problems as yourself for atleast 10yr. I eventually went to the doctor as I started becoming really embarressed by the problem. I would advise you to go see your doctor as it turned out there was a problem, I cant unfortunatley remember what it was called but I do know that it has something to do with my stomach and a little bug/parasite (i am unsure exactly what it is)that was present in the stomach. It is treatable but it can return as that happened to myself it actually comes and goes regularly now, but i did help by changing my diet slightly as it was very unhealthy when it started and this helps slightly. I hope this has helped.

Hi, I'm having a problem with bouts of wind. (Belching) this lasts for ages and I have to go on long walks to relieve myself. I have been diagnosed with Barratts, I do not however have heartburn. I'm at my wits end, I have told my Dr, he prescribed Lansoprazole and Domperizone. None seem to work. I have tried to self diagnose on the net but to no avail. Please help if you can.

hi please look up oesaphageal reflux or gerd go to wikipedia they are so informative my doctor fed me with tablets for 12 yrs and then they told me they could do nothing for me but barratts oesaphagus is the most lethal of all the oesaphagus diseases please get your self checked urgently, you need to get to a surgeon that specialises in this it a hidden illness and your just given tablets to take which are useless

I have had problems with my digestive system since I caught a stomach bug 10 months ago. Started with diarrhoea, extreme belching, loss of appetite and lethargy. The diarrhoea improved after a few days but then I had bad stomach pains whenever I ate anything. It got to the point where I avoided eating all day until I was at home in the evening. Even bland foof=d like white fish and rice caused the discomfort. Doctors blamed IBS but I thought it may be Giardia so I asked for Metronidazole just in case. Symptoms improved slightly a few weeks after but then gradually got worse again. I then became lactose and fructose intolerant too. Dr then gave me Tinidazole which relieved some more symptoms. Nausea, lethargy and belching has now almost stopped but I still get discomfort whenever I eat (normally within 5 mins of eating).I keep a food diary and take peppermint capsules and tea. I do not smoke or drink alcohol or fizzy drinks. I avoid lactose whenever I can and take lactase tablets. I still avoid eating in public just in case and I take medication to relax my guts (Mebeverine) which helps a bit.I am taking a multi enzyme tablet and probiotic tablets to help restore bowel flora. Is there anything else that could be causing my problem and anything else I can try? I have seen 5 Drs who all say it is IBS and I have to cope with it.

I have had Giardia for 4 years, all the same symptoms as you describe. I have taked 4 courses of antibiotic's but am still unwell. I have been told by a dr, the best way to rid yourself of it is to let it run it's course. It is truly miserable. I have fond I am at my best if eating a low-fat, moderate fibre diet that is lactose and fructose free. I see a dietitian regularly.

I have recently had an endoscopy and am waiting for the histo results. I am still avoiding eating out as so difficult to find anything I can eat safely. Now losing weight too. Consultant is suspicious it is either Helicobacter pylori or post Giardia. I am not coeliac. I will let people know my results on here just in case it helps anyone else who may have the same or similar symptoms. This really is ruling my life at the moment and is making me miserable. I think some of my friends think I am becoming anorexic but I cannot explain enough how much I sometimes want to eat but just don't want to risk it just in case my stomach plays up. This is not IBS.

Hi, I have suffered from belching wind for 4 years ever since I got back from a trip to the USA of which I visited Mexico and had something to eat and drink. I am getting myself tested for parasites.

I have recently been suffering with excessive wind, belching, bloatedness, grumbling tummy, occasional pains, nausea and a change in bowel motions. I'm 28 and went to the doctors last week. Doc thinks I have IBS and I've been put on Meberverine for a month. All though I'm still not convinced, since I've been taking the tablets over the last week, my symptoms have eased. I'm quite lucky though as I only go to the toilet in the mornings unless my stomach is acting up. I still haven't managed to find any triggers.

I can relate to these symptoms, and have also been told that I have IBs since the age of 19 yrs, I am now 44,and things have continued to cause the same symptoms, with the addition of recurrent indigestion. I have for the last 4 years been avoiding cows milk - although recently changed to Lactose free, and also avoiding as much wheat and gluten as I can. Bread is a big "no no", and high sugared foods definately make things appear to ferment in my stomach. You might like to consider specific food groups to see if avoiding some foods help.

Hi, I have been suffering from the exact same symptoms as Gemma for 4 years. Excessive belching, stomach gurgling loudly, pain in the abdomen especially severe if I am late eating, change in bowel motions from one a day to 3 a day. I have tried everything, gluten free diet, gastrosocopy (results negative for everything), ultrasound on abdomen, blood tests, stool tests, antibiotics but nothing has worked. Recently the pain in my abdomen got really bad and I ended up in hospital and they put me on 20mg Omeprazole which has made a big difference but I still belch after eating, so I started researching further. I am in the process of doing a stool test for parasites because this all started after I returned from a trip to the USA in 2007 of which I visited Mexico and ate and drank there. The stool test is being tested by Genova Diagnostics in the US. I live in New Zealand. I have also recently been to a chiropractor who has told me my nerves that are attached to my digestive system are not good and that I will need to do a detox and have some manipulation. I am excited about this. Would be interested to hear how you are doing.

Hi, I also have been suffering from the same symptoms. Belching after I eat, no energy, bouts of diarrhoea, two instances when I didn't make it to the toilet, loss of appetite, pain in the abdomen area and nausea especially if I am late to eat a meal. Peppermint tictacs have been my saviour and has helped ease my upset stomach. Get yourself checked for parasites. My symptoms started after a holiday in the USA in 2007 and I while we were there I visited Mexico where I had some to eat and drink. I live in New Zealand.

Hi I don't know if this is helpful as I haven't suffered too much from diarreah, more feeling like belching but can't, and then turning to extreme migraine symptoms and vomiting lasting two to three days at a time, without eating a thing, often just bringing up bile. The only thing thats helped is to cut out all dairy produce (I can tolerate goats & sheep products) and I cut out wheat products. I also cut out eating at night, instead mainly having meals in the morning and lunch time. The symptoms have got much better, no more sickness unless I have dairy/wheat products. Hope this helps.

I have been diagonosed with IBS for over a year now. My main problem as a young woman is the bloating as I am very slim and I look about 3/4 months pregnant as my stomach protrudes through clothes after eating, and gets larger throughout the day. I constantly get asked how many months which I get so annoyed about. I am not intolerant to any foods and have stopped having dairy products (although I dont think this has made much a difference) I have come to realise that when I take andrews salts I begin to realise gas such as passing wind or belching and that seems to elevate pain and reduces bloating. It seems to me as I am just filled up with gas all the time and leads me to believe do I really suffer with IBS or is it something else. Other than using andrews salt as my solution is there anything else I can do or someone I can see to help me prevent this problem entirely. I am tired of taking loads of tablets and being so bloated.

According to a number of medical practitioners I have a combination of gastric problems not least Gastroparesis, spastic or bone idle colon, IBS, rapid transit gullet, Bradygastria, hiatal hernia and double incissional hernias (from previous ops), probably post-operative adhesions and suffer with polyps. However, something causes considerable bloating and distension and almost continual irritation and belching associated with bloating/distension from morning till night and this causes headaches. Watching a recent programme the Doctors used a small capsule to track progress through stomach/colon/intestines to not any possible problem areas. Is this something gastroenterologists should have tried with me to reach some kind of diagnosis and recommend treatment?

around about 15 years ago, I ate some mung beans that hadn't been soaked before cooking. I felt ill all weekend and, after that, for about a year, I couldn't eat any beans or pulses at all without having severe diarrhea. It was very quick. The first sign was belching with a distinctive taste and a chilly sensation in my gut. Then I'd have to go the toilet, often within only half an hour or so of eating, and it was as if the food had barely been digested at all, as if I simply couldn't keep anything in. My sensitivity was so great that the problem was brought on by anything containing soya, meaning I could easily be taken unawares by things like supermarket bread. I went to a doctor about this and he looked grumpy and said, literally, 'What do you expect me to do about it?' then gave me a nasty lecture on how he had people who were actually ill coming to see him and didn't need to be bothered by people like me. Eventually, somehow, I got the idea that vitamin C might help and started eating a lot of organges, sometimes ten in one day. It had an immediate beneficial effect and I was able to go back to eating beans and pulses. However, I still frequently have very loose stools, usually after eating something high in protein like a plate of beans or some meat. My stool is also frequently yellowish, which makes me wonder if the problem is partially the lack of bile described above. From what I can tell, matter does tend to move through my digestive tract quite fast.
