Hello! In one of your shows i see a man who didnt want to swallowing big pieces of food, he just eat soft food, because one in his childhood a piece of food was stucked in his throat. Then he need to learn again how to eat and a psychologist helped him. This i am asking because here in Slovenia we have one boy who wont to swallow too and he just eat parental food but doctors here are telling, that they cant help him. He is so poor, because he have a lot of other anomalies and we must pushing him to eat. Parents dont know how to help him anymore and they are looking for a doctor who wants to help him, that he would be "normal" when he grows up. Thank you for answer, M

Within the last few months food has been getting stuck when I swallow. I now have to take a drink straight after I take my first bite of something then I frequently have to drink to help the food go down. My throat feels very dry hence food getting stuck. I have a mild cough which has been arround since this sensation starting. I have been referred to ENT but I am scared that he docor will have to look down my throat so I will probably cancel the appointment when it comes through. Should I just hope it goes away? I am a female, 36 years old.

GO BACK TO THE DOCTORS. i know it sucks having to admit that you're struggling and risk upsetting people but one thing i've noticed in everyone i know with eating disorders is that they've all got significantly worse the moment we left home. please go back to the doctors, a bit of upset and embarrassment is a lot better than a life of eating disorders.

What is it that you want someone else to do for you? I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but you are in control of this illness and you must take charge of alleviating your suffering. You have already pinpointed the problems right here in your comment: Weight, junk food and eating late at night. You owe it to yourself to stick with the solutions: losing weight and eating a healthy diet.

To whom this may concern, Ever since I had my appendix removed in 2002 due to appendicitis, every time I eat something greasy I get severe abdominal upset and diarrhoea. Bear in mind that I have not had any fatty food or greasy food since the start of the year. I avoid fast food places like they are the plague and yet 2 days ago my godson came home with KFC and gave me a piece and for the last two days I have been experiencing diarrhoea and stomach cramps whenever I lay down but when I'm sitting up I am perfectly fine. Please help me with any advice that you can offer and it will be greatly appreciated. Regards Matt

i have the same problem and when im alone i rade the cupboards to see what i can find. I always feel fulfilled for about 5 mins and get to a low sraight after because im worried about my weight. I too am over 11 stone and im only 13. I find keeping my hands occupied prevents me from binging on food. i usually eat out of boredom and cleaning or drawing keeps me from doing it again. I hope this helps you as i know how horrible it is to feel this way.

Hi, I am 23, female and I have been bulimic for the past 9 years now, It started off as anorexia and I would throw up if I had eaten a square piece of chocolate, then the more I ate the more I threw up etc. I have hidden this all my life, there are periods of when its not so bad and periods of when it's terrible and for the past 2 years I have been a mess, hours and hours of binging and purging. My heartbeat has become very irregular and I get really bad chest pain where my heart is, my blood pressure is on the low side of normal and heart beat regular (after visit to GP), I don't know whether the two are related but I am becoming worried now, I'm not in a good place right now and I know that triggers it, but even when I've been happy I still do, just not to as much extent. I want to recover I just don't know where to begin.

Hi Alessandra, I am having the same problem, but less strong I have had it for about a year now, but I think going to a nutritionist helps a lot. Getting into sports and taking proteins and vitamins produce endorphins that make us happier therefore we eat less out of stress and anxiety and purge less. Also finding other hobbies help me a lot. If I think of chocolate and I know I will throw it up afterwards I take my guitar and play until I forget. It doesn't work all the time and I still have this stupid bulimia ))': that's how I came on this website because I want to get rid of it too but start off with things like this they may help! I've never admitted this to anyone, but hopefully it will help. It started off as comfort eating when I was 13. Now I'm 2 1/2 stone overweight, which doesn't sound terribly bad. But, I've been binge eating since 15. I went through a phase before that where I stopped eating more than 1 meal a day. I used to lie to my parents about having school dinners and then have 1 slice of toast for tea (I'd tell them I'd eaten more in the kitchen when they weren't there). Then I started binging. It got worse and I started to plan my binges as a reward. Then my tummy started swelling for a few days after a binge and so I started taking laxatives (I know this isn't the most usual form of bulimia but I now know it's a rare form). It makes me feel disgusting to admit it because it's more gross than throwing up. But I can't make myself throw up. I don't know what to do. I can't seem to stop binging now (3-4 times a week) despite not being a healthy weight for the 1st time in my life. I'm at uni and it's interfering with my degree and my friendships and my relationship (although he's had a year abroad which has worsened the binging). I want to lose weight and quickly. I've heard about treatments but am so worried about what they'll do to me. I hate the thought of admitting the extent of this in person. If anyone can be of reassurance I'd be so deeply grateful, but I suppose this is already a big leap for me...

Hi I have read through alot of the comments and so much sounds familiar. I binge and eat huge amounts on the evening vomit and then do it again. In the day I cant Bring myself to even look at food the thought of eating makes me feel sick again. Every few months i go through an extreme phase of starving myself or having a nutrigrain bar a day and exercising for at least 3 and a half hours a day. this phase lasts another couple of months, i usually lose alot of weight and then all of a sudden im back to binging. Its really affecting me and its hard to talk to the people around me as they dont understand. Does anyone have any suggestions on what exactly im doing to myself and what to do about it?

Hi there Alice, I can relate to your comments as I had Bulimia for many years- and the only good piece of advice is- is to try eating at regular times throughout the day- breakfast, lunch and dinner- with snacks in between as its the only way to maintain a nice weight healthily- without worrying about the endless spiral of binging and fasting and binging and fasting. Feeling less hungry is normal for most people on some occasions but most people also don't worry if they've slightly over eaten as on the grand scale of things it doesn't matter if you've eaten an extra burger or bowl of chips. And it seems to me that your urge to overeat is because you are not eating enough at regular intervals. So, please just enjoy your life and try to get into a set routine of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks as you will find that your mind will then also be healthy enough to gain some perspective and balance xxxx

You could be allergic to the food you have ate, try avoiding that particular food and see if it clears away, if not you know it isn't to do with the food and you should go to your doctor or go to find out what's really going on.

I've been bulimic for about a year, binging and purging multiple times everyday. I try to stop but it's so hard.. It's much more than just wanting to lose weight, it's an addiction, a copy mechanism. I don't think doctors or anyone will take me seriously though as I'm a "normal" weight. I feel so alone and crap but part of me won't let it go. Help? :/

I'm not sure if I have OCD. I have to wash my hands or use sanitizer quite often, or I get really paranoid about germs/getting sick. I also have to make sure that when I eat, wet food cannot touch dry food, or a cannot eat it. I also have to eat everything one at a time, like i have to eat all of one type of food before i start the next type. Could this count as OCD?

Hi I'm 37 yrs old & have had an ED from age 12. I have had an awful childhood but have overcome it. I'm now 8stone & 5ft 5 so a healthy weight. I want to be 7stone again as none off my clothes fit me. I have had treatment for my ED but afraid it has gone from anorexia nervosa to bulimia. I will let myself eat a certain amount but anything over that will get rid off. I also go through stages of not eating & then binging & purging. Lately I've been scared as during night or when I'm lying down & relaxed my body involuntary jumps if asleep it wakens me. Is this related to the ED or something different? Thanks in advance x

Hi Laura I have just read about your problem with IBS. It seem very similar to my own.I always have imodium with me where ever I go. As soon as the growling starts I take one some times tis is enough to control it. I find salad foods especially lettuce and highly spiced food particularly chili . So curry is quite a common food that will set off your IBS. Take care and take note of the food stuff that causes your problem

The only things which have really helped me are: - using Hydrogen Peroxide to disinfect the lesions; - avoiding foods such as ham, cured meat, sausages, bacon, pork, trans fats, processed food, spreads, hydrogenated oils; - eating healthy food, such as olive oil, fruit and veg, normal and simple food cooked from scratch.

Hi I had food testing done and it came out that I was lactose intolerant. You can take a lactose enzyme (from health food shops/dieticians) which can help symptoms. Would suggest having a food intolerance test to diagnose and maybe try removing dairy from your diet to see if that helps. If not go and see your GP and insist they test you for bowel conditions. Good luck

Hi, I'm a 21 year old female, I'm 15 stone, but most of my weight is my stomach, my arms an legs are out of proportion to my tummy. I find it hard to diet due to what kind of food I eat, when I was young I was in and out of hospital due to not eating, as result my range of food is very limited and I find it hard to find other food I can eat.

I have been suffering from IBS symptoms for over 12 years and I am only 25. I know my mom and sister have it but my doctor says I don't, but instead my body just doesn't like food and that it tries to get rid of it as soon as possible, I can't remember the last time I had a solid BM. Most of the time I can't even make it through a meal with out having to go to toilet at least once if not twice. I even have had boyfriends break up with me because they think it's gross. I just want to know if it's true that your body may dislike food and try to get rid of it as soon as possible (if so I can't wait til food is in pill form), or can I accually say I have IBS and have nothing to be ashamed of?

I would say that whilst you have some symptoms of IBS it could also be a food intolerance. Or sensitivity to certain foods, I'd recommend going to the docs to get it checked out and in the meantime keep a food diary, write down what you ate at what time and how you felt afterwards...for example if you bloat up and get diarrhoea after drinking milk it is possibly you have a dairy/lactose intolerance. So take this food diary to the doctors and you should be able to get it sorted no problem! Good luck!

Hi. I don't have a problem with earwax specifically but I have a problem with my ears and I can't fin anywhere else to ask about it. When I eat, sometimes I end up snorting food up my nose. This isn't usually a problem besides being uncomfortable, because I can blow it out however today I accidentally did it again and felt a very mild pain in my ear. I know that the ear is connected to my throat, and was really worried that there was food in my ear. I inhaled in shock and something passed back into my throat, I don't know where from but now I am completely paranoid and don't want to eat. Is getting food in your ear even possible? What problems could it cause? How would it be removed?

hi there, i am 17 years old now. around the age of 13 i started being orthorexic with lots of ocd symptoms. i had a lack of menstruation for 6 moths and i seen a doc who gave me hormoned-based drugs. from 99lbs i have now 132 lbs and extremely big breast which i hate. over the last 3 years i have been constantly binging and fasting, so my body looks now puffy and with lots of cellulite. i've seen a nutritionist and a psychotherapist but things haven't improved by now... i'm scared i will never get over these issues and it's hard to cope with them as the ones around me don't understand what's happening with me...
