for many years now, I've been suffering with IBS type symptoms, and have been to my doctor several times. And he just says to me, take more of these pills that I was on. (the standard pills for IBS, Mebeverine, Buscopan & Colpermin) which only make me worse. aka more cramping and discomfert. so a year ago I stopped taking them, and I've felt alot better off them. but the pains haven't totally gone away. and my right side is still worse than my left, being more bloated and aches more. I just wanted to know if these are common with IBS or if its crohns?. as I'm only 7 stone, and find it difficult to eat meals, as most times I feel too bloated to eat it all. also my doctor isnt very helpful. I'm 28, 29 this year. and theres a history of IBS in my family. also I'd like to know what help I can get, as my doctor wont help me. as he's always called me silly and just unhelpful.

Have they done any tests on you to check whether it is Crohns disease? The only way to have a positive or negative answer for Crohns disease is to have tests ie colonoscopy

Hi, change your doctor. My 17 year old son has been diagnosed with crohns and his eating habbit is very similar to yours, he fills up very quickly with just a little food, resulting in great weight lose, also many other symptoms. Go see a more sympathetic doctor, your not silly and should not be dismissed as being so. Good luck.

I have 8 year old daughter, for the past 4 weeks, she has been passing lot of wind, and burping a lot and they really smell, she also gets really bloated and is in lot of pain when she is bloated! She was hospitalised, doctors did the scan, stool test and blood test, they all came back negative. This all started straight after she had a cold and cough, she was feeling like being sick but only brought up food few times, at the same time few of her friends had a Norovirus and she played with them almost everyday. She has a very balance diet, and her stools are normal, but her GP give her various different meds, from anti acids Ranitidine to movicol laxative. recently I have stopped giving her gassy food, and these symptoms still continues. What could it be and how do I help my daughter with her pain.

hello! i dislike my nipples... anyone might say they look normal. i know there is nothing wrong with them, medically. I am a size 32C, in my early twenties. My nipples look like the first picture here but they change. Usually when they are cold, or sometimes not, they go hard and wrinkled up. When they are warm they go really soft and bloated looking like the first picture. Why do my nipples change like that?? it makes me very self conscious about my breasts and i refuse to take my bra off in front of any boyfriends i have because sometimes even one nipple can be hard and wrinkled but the other can be bloated?! i see pictures of other women and remember seeing my mum's breasts as a child and hers always looked the same every time, flat areola and hard middle nipple part. She breast fed both my brother and I, not sure if this made her nipples like that?

Hi.Every woman's breasts react the same way to the cold and sexual arousal. When cold or aroused your nipples will harden and appear wrinkly. If one of your nipples becomes hard simply gently play with your other one for a few seconds or blow on it and it will react as well. Boyfriends will love it when your breasts become hard as shows you're aroused and enjoying yourself. Most men love to lick and play with nipples to stimulate them and make them hard.

I have problems with my bowels, and never really noticed it until i started losing weight. (food replacement about a year and a half ago) and ever since i am very aware of it. I came off the food replacement and begn eating healthy, drinking plenty of water and exercising which seemed to regualte my bowel movements more although i would regularly get bloated, pass gas and find it difficult to pass stools. Recently I have had a very bad diet, due to laziness and have not been exercising as i use to. this past week I have been feeling sick in the morning, and throughout the day. Stomach cramps also, with lower pack pain. passing gas which smells awful..very embarressing. Stomach feels hard and bloated and i find that when i am getting hungry, or i assume thats what it is my stomach rumbles extremmely loudly which is also rather embarressing. As i am self concsious of it, it makes it worse. Just wondering if this is IBS?? as i have had belief that this is what it has been.

Hi you should get it checked out, I had the same problem but it was a small tear in my anus, however, blood in poo can be quite serious and it's a good idea to get it checked out. :)

Hi, im a 16 year old girl and have recently been to the doctors and diagnosed with ibs. i have a weak bladder, so i need the toilet alot, so sometimes i do get bloated from that. i usually also get bloated around a week before my periods. but then i discovered i began to get bloated more or less all the time. id wake up in a morning and be fine, then suddenly as soon as i ate anything, i felt like a beached whale! which also made me not want to eat anything else. so i was concerned and went to the doctor. i am currently on tablets and im just hoping they are going to work, ive only been on them a week. ive been told to take them for a month, then go back to my GP. i just wondered if you could tell me what sort of foods i should perhaps eat? and what foods to stay away from? if water will help? and any other advice you can give me that will help me. being bloated all the time makes me feel really uncomfatable and i feel fat. i notice more that i am bloated as i am very slim and have a flat stomach. so its making me upset. please if you could help, it would be great. and i would really appreciate it! Thanks!! x

Try taking probiotic supplements- they really help to stop you getting bloated after dinner. they are about £15 pounds from holland and barratt and thanks to them i felt much better about what i ate because i didnt feel bloated. Thats the problem when you first start to become better- your stomach isnt used to eating again but the tablets really help. Hope it helps.

God, i'm so glad i came onto this site, i had no idea so many other people are suffering from this..i didn't know what was wrong with me, i just typed in "bloated intestines". I get so bloated i look pregnant. People were even giving up their seats on the train for me (so it's not all bad !)I had no idea i had IBS, as i dont get chronic pains or sickness. I've noticed recently the day after having a banana i get bloated so i've stopped eating them. Milk can also give me bad wind, so i'm going to switch to Soya. Rice or pasta also bloats me out (maybe i have a wheat&dairy intolerence huh ?) I eat Alpen in the morning (adding extra nuts & seeds to it) i have a prawn or chicken salad for lunch and fish or chicken with veg at night (no carbs), and i still get bloated. I drink a litre of water a day, i can't drink anymore than that otherwise i feel sick. So i'm stumped too. I'll take as trip to my GP and see what she says, but she is a bit rubbish, so maybe go private. I'll let you know if i find a miracle cure !

Hi,Have you tried not eating foods with bulking agents in. I also drink a glass of cranberry juice every day it seems to help with my gut its good for infections which can be caused by IBS and IBS bladder syndrome. I also eat the same every week and eat it in small portions through the day it seems to stop me bloating up and my body gets used to what i eat. I also dont eat dairy or drimk anything with caffine in.

I have had a very painful abdomen for weeks and my abdomen is very bloated. It seems to be worse just after I eat,I do not exactly run to the loo but sometimes my stools are very soft and light in colour and sometimes I feel that I have not emptied my bowels after a visit to the loo and still feel bloated. The pain varies from a dull ache in my rigt side and around to my back, lots of gurgling noises, anyone have the same symptoms?

I'm 30 and have suffered from constipation all my life. I'm lucky if I go to the toilet once a week. I get bloated, pains, wind, indigestion, nausea, headaches and it is 10 times worse when I'm having a period! My GP diagnosed me with having IBS and has prescribed me just about every laxative available but these only work for a short time if at all then I'm back to square one. I drink lots of water. I try to eat as much fruit and veg as I can but nothing helps. My stomach gets so bloated sometimes that I've had strangers congratulating me on my pregnancy and asking me when my baby is due!!

I have similar problems the bloated tummy is the worsed, I am trying to see if it is wheat and dairy that is affecting it, I can get it settled, then it seems to start again when I have not eaten as healthy as I should, I cannot eat much fruit, all this started after doing a diet and my body seems to have reacted to that, my tummy is bloated today and pain too, so not having a good day, try and see if this might help you, I am trying to eat fresh veg, fish or chicken no wheat or dairy,

When you have IBS you're blood will still come back normal, I'm 21 now & I have has IBS since I was 18, mine was caused by eating medium rear red meat, if it had the tiniest bit if blood in it i am on the toilet is immense pain for a good half an hour, but recently I have been suffering with it without eating red meat, but I suffer with panic attacks and anxiety which was actually caused by IBS, that's why I've been suffering lately. If you suffer with constipation then you need to start eating foods that are insoluble, if you get loose stools then you need to eat soluble foods, I have found eating soluble foods has helped me a lot, just search it up and you will get a list of foods you can and can't eat, I hope this helps you as I know how awful it is to be an IBS sufferer

I am 24 and was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19- I had a proper period every month and then intermittent bleeding in between each one which drove me mad. I had really bad acne which no tablet or cream could cure. I didn't have any other symptoms back then. I am 5'3 and 81/2 stone with little body hair. Now, I've noticed my stomach is bloated. It is the only part of my body that doesn't tone when I exercise. It looks out of proportion with my body- I thought I might be gluten intolerant so I've cut gluten out of my diet. The bloated stomach and acne still persist- even now that I'm on the pill. Any advice?
