I'm a 40yo male and had IBS since about 16. I've managed to control it mostly by diet. I still get some stomach cramps and some constipation but the most annoying thing is the bloating. About 10 mins after I eat something my stomach gets about 6" bigger and goes brick hard. It looks like I'm pregnant. Has anyone come across anything to reduce the bloating.
I think I may suffer from IBS but is unsure. I get severe bloating after eating that it looks like I am pregnant! It's not every day that it is as extreme but there is always some degree of bloating. I also suffer from really bad wind, all the time, day and night, where ever I am and sometimes when in public I have to hold it in and this creates even more bloating and discomfort and my tummy makes noises as my body 'moves around the wind'! Also, I can go without going to the bathroom for up to 3-4 days and then I will have a build up that will be fairly constipated and I will have a suddern urge to go and it will be painful to pass stool. There is some bleeding from time to time but I think this is from a cut I go from having gastroenteristis two years ago. I'm sick of looking like I'm pregnant and having to wear baggy tops to cover my big belly. I know I'm not putting on weight because although I'm not fat, I've definitely not put on any other weight and I do eat a balanced diet. If anyone has any information to pass on, I would be very grateful!
I have the exact same problem. Usually the bigger or hotter the meal i eat the worse it gets. However it also happens when i eat my lunch (a corned beef and salad sandwich on wholemeal bread and a yogurt). The only thing i have been able to do is eat slowly and don't eat large meals. However, even then sometimes it still does not work. It is a mystery to me as well. I do not think it is IBS though. If it is, it is a very mild form. If you find a cure, please let me know.
im 29 and i'm convinced i have IBS. i have bloating and/or abdominal pain after most meals and my bowels are either really loose (not diarrheoa) or constipation.i also get terrible wind my partner is very unsympathetic,he calls it imaginary bowel syndrome!! i know ibs may not be a serious condition but its a nightmare to live with..ive learnt to live with the pain but its the bloating which really gets me down. i would like to get it diagnosed from my gp but i wont go near the surgery if it means needing a camera put up my bum to diagnose it. does anybody know how its diagnosed???
My Gp diagnosed me 5 years ago same symptoms as yourself, i had an internal examination with the GP which took under 30 seconds and a little discomfort. Based on symptoms he diagnosed me as there was no bleeding or weight loss declined to do further investigations i.e camera etc, i have taken colofac every am and buscopan when required which really helps with the bloating and pain, both medication can be brought over the counter and the pharmacist is very helpful making sure your medication doesnt clash, i also use imodium plus, to help with loose stools and it also helps with cramping. Windeze also helps with wind!!
it could be ibs. also get checked for coeliac disease as these are also symptoms of that. it can be serious if untreated.
I suffer from severe bloating. I would have a lot of gas but don't have any problems with going to the toilet. No diarrhoea or constipation. I have quite normal bowel movement. However my doctor give me tablets for ibs. How can he know I have ibs with no test and only symptom is bloating ? The tablets didn't work and It's getting really annoying . I'm constantly getting asked if I'm pregnant and feel like my stomach is going to explode it gets that big and hard and really uncomfortable . It gets worst with certain foods like bread or alcohol. I just wish I could find out what the problem was as my doctor said there's nothing more they can do which is I know is not true
Hi, this just really reminded me of what I felt like before I cut dairy and wheat out of my diet. Dairy, I can eat in small amounts, but everytime I go near wheat, my stomach is so bloated it feels as if something has grown inside, and if I press it, i can feel myself pushing all the air around and it gurgles so much everyone nearby can hear. Perhaps your intolerant to something? maybe keep a food diary, is the alcohol beer? I cannot drink beer or eat bread as exactly that happens to me. Perhaps its sulphates? I have a colleague who has a similar reaction to anything with them in. It probably is a case if finding what triggers it and cutting these down or out of your diet.
I have been dealing with ibs for about a year. I usually get flare ups every few weeks or so, or as soon as I have spicy or greasy food especially Chinese! However for the past month I have been dealing with constant pain, not one that comes and goes on different days. It is either very crampy on the mornings and nights where I have to rush to the toilet and during the day there is a constant dull ache that never goes??? Is this normal! Also, Usually my bloating comes and goes but the past month it has never seem to gone down!!!! It looks like I'm pregnant or something it's so worrying, does anyone else deal with bloating that just won't go? I have been getting major back spasms that are quite worrying and chest pains? Any one else?
I have experienced exactly what you have put on here has occurred to you, please get in contact with me would love to hear what you have/haven't done. Am really worried and could do with some advice or at least someone to talk to about this
Hi im 31 years old and had 2 children and came of Depo in October last year because of bloating(the depo was not the cause as I had this symptom before & decided to clearmyself from any medications) I have not had a period since,I seen my g.p withregard to the bloating where she found blood in my urine so sent me for an ultrasond which showd to be a cyst in my kidney, I was assured there was nothing to worry about, I saw my g.p again a month later where she still found blood in my urine so sent my for a cystascope,--everything was fine with that, and blood tests were fine which I believe was a full blood count and thiroid function, now to months from that I still have no period since October last year but now aware of a pain in my left groin which is intermittant during the day what I can only describe as a wave of pressure, Is this related to my problem? Should I be concerned that I have had no period yet and the new symptom of groin pain?
i was depo and took me 16 months to have a period ,i then became pregnant and now im back on it ,i have blood in my urine i also was sent for a kidney scan which came back negative and also blood test, yet still have blood in my urine

Hi I am suffering from bloating every time I eat food,I have tried drinking more water and eating more fibre but this has not helped. Any suggestions welcome!!
Hi, I feel like this a lot and find having a cup of peppermint tea helps. I tend to keep a teabag in my handbag or a cup alredy brewed to relieve me of the bloating and making me feel a lot more comfortable. (M&S) ones work best for me!
I had sex for the first time on saturday. The condom which we used was fine so there cannot really be any way of me being pregnant. But I have felt weird ever since, abdominal pains and bloating, I just don't understand? I really need some help :(
Does anyone know what is normal in terms of mucous coming out with constipation poo? It looks like orangey grissle. I can also increase by a dress size within 3 hours due to the bloating. :-/
