I'm 17 and i have had a lazy eye/squint for some time now. It was too late to give me an eye patch due to my age. However i was given glasses from an opticians. About a year ago they told me that glasses would not correct my lazy eye only make the vision in one eye better. I don't wear my glasses because i can see perfect without them (Only when my left eye is open as well, When i close my left eye my vision is blurred) So i was wondering, is there any operations. Lazer treatment that would improve my vision at all? And is it worth my money. Will the treatment make my lazy eye (right eye) as good as the left one? Thanks, James

I am due for blood tests to test me for diabetes next week, however I am very confused for a few reasons. Firstly, I am only 17 and have never shown any signs before. And secondly I am showing mixed symptoms of type 1 and type 2: - I am constantly thirsty - I need to pass urine a lot - Within the last week I have passed out unconscious 4 times - I get pins and needles over my whole body before I pass out - I have blurred vision - More often than not I get really dizzy - I get really tired even if all I do is go for a walk - and strangely, my toes go numb quite often Can somebody give me any advice? If this does not seem like diabetes I would love to avoid blood tests! Thanks.

To be honest....this does sound like typical diabetes symptoms. Please have the tests - even if they confirm that you have diabetes, you will at least be able to get treatment. Taking control of diabetes is the way to move forward, and you'll never get control by not wanting to know - which is hard, I know. I hate having to test and I hate not being able eat what I want, but at least my health is so much better. I can save my eyesight and my fingers/toes. I can't confirm what you have, but you do need help. Good luck.

I had a toxin injection for a squint two weeks ago. I was warned that I might have a slightly drooping eyelid for 3 - 5 days and some slight over-correction for a few days. I subsequently suffered a massive haemorrhage and confusions around my entire eye socket extending down my cheek. My eye swill barely open and what vision I have is severely affected with double vision, due not to over-correction, but exaggeration of the original direction and downward movement of the eye. I have been told that this normal but I was not warned that I could have a haemorrhage or contusions and suffered no such effects with a previous injection. This has affected all aspects of my life and I have no coordination, and feel sick and dizzy. Has anyone had any similar effects?

I have been suffering from severe nerve pain , muscle pain ,blurred vision, for a long time , and things seem to be getting worse , the blurred vision is recent , I have had itchy ,sore ears that have a white substance in them ,and can be very painful , and this horrible swishing noise for 2 years , and have itching of the vulva area, I have had sinus problems for a long time and have now got thinning of the hair , scabs on scalp , and poor bladder control , I had undiagnosed h pylori , from the age of 13 till I was in my thirties ,and was then diagnosed with 3 stomach ulcers ,I was prescribed triple therapy , and when that didn't work I was given quadruple therapy , I have never felt right although I didn't have any stomach ulcer pain , I still feel sick mostly every night ,and usually have to get up .I also have a lot of indigestion which I never suffered with , I did get the courage up to go to my gp, at the beginning of the year , she diagnosed dermatitis and gave me drops for the one ear but it never worked , I am also suffering from severe tiredness, I can't build up the courage to go to my gp, with a long list of issues, I am looking for some self help ,thanks

Try bifocal glasses from your optician it could be a muscle weakness or focusing problem with your eyes. I have to wear bifocals and cannot get through the day without them. If I don't wear them I get headaches and blurred vision and floating dots, leading to pain behind the eye like migraine.

I am 19 and I use to have watery eyes now and then and thought nothing of it as I could still continue with my life. But for the past 6 months my eyes have constantly been watering that I have to carry a tissue with me at all times! People just think I'm always crying and it can be embarrassing. I feel like my vision is a bit blurred and my eyes are now a bit sticky. It's so annoying to have, does anyone have any solutions to help it for now?!

Hi Doc, In 2007 i suffered from Immune mediated disseminated tuberculosis. During the ailment i got a squint in my right eye. i was 19 years old then and now i am 24 years old. The doctors told that it will get corrected with time but can not see it getting correct. I have been wearing specs from a very early age of around 6-7 years of age. Now my vision has gradually become blurred in the right eye and i am not able to see from my right eye where i focus. Please tell me can it be corrected? Your answer would really help me and will be appreciated. :) :)

I'm 16 and I was born cross eyed. I had an operation when I was 2 to realign them but I now think this wasn't the case. If don't see with both eyes I look out one and the other does basically it's own thing. I use my right for distance (few meters) and the left for up close at its vision has deterated. Can any one tell me what my condition is. I'm not bothered about re straightening my right eye which drifts further than the left because both do. I also don't see a 3d form I see as if you would if you covered one eye. The eye not bing focused still sees but adds on a blurred unnoticed image. I hope some one can enlighten me about this condition thanks

Amblyopia with strabismus thats what i have. op wen i was 3 and exactly same as you. my worse unused eye now gives me eye ache at age 25 and im going to get botox.

Be careful with only using one eye. I had the same problem but I can now use both since my latest surgery. Hold something at the end of your nose and try your best to focus on it. You will likely feel a strain on the eye you dont usually use but carry on, however be careful not to strain the eye to much.

Hi my daughter is eight and been ill now since 4 yrs and yes Bechets. Has consent mouth ulcers - occasional below, migraines, blurred vision, aching joints - onset of extreme pain , stomach pains, occasional chest pains and fatigue lots of fatigue!!!! I can only watch, give out the medicine and feel proud of how she try's to cope bad hold her when she can't. Truly awful illness .

Kim, or anyone else who may have a helpful response based on their experiences. We’ve been waiting for blood test results for two weeks and my daughter, Sam’s endocrinologist is saying the results aren’t back from the lab yet. Is this normal? From some of the posts I've read here, I think we may be waiting longer. Here’s a brief recap - My Daughter, Samantha, is 19 and has symptoms that all seem to add up to her having some type of pituitary tumor. She went to the ER two weeks ago with vision problems including significantly reduced peripheral vision as well as blurred vision. She was in the ER all night. I believe they did a CT scan which showed her pituitary was enlarged. They told her mom she needed to see 4 doctors – an endocrinologist, ophthalmologist, optic nerve specialist, and the neurosurgeon. After the ER, Sam went to see the endocrinologist who did blood work (now 13 days ago) and a 24-hour urine test which was returned to the lab 9 days ago. The endo also set up the MRI which she had now 8 days ago. The day after the MRI, we (Sam, mom and dad) all met with the neurosurgeon. He showed us a shot from the MRI which confirmed her pituitary is about 2 to 3 times the normal size. So, the pressure from the oversized gland on her optic nerve caused the vision problems. They had her on steroids for a week and at least the peripheral vision problems went away, for now. She has had a few heath issues over the past few years that were all hormone related and, now it appears, probably were caused by her pituitary tumor. I understand from the meeting with the neuro she had normal periods until she was 17 at which time they stopped. Because Sam’s mom and I are, of course, stressing during the long wait (she probably is too, but doesn't act like she is), did everyone have to wait a number of weeks for similar blood test results? I don’t know exactly which blood tests they are doing, but, I’m sure hormone levels and others that are likely similar to the blood work most others had at this stage in their diagnosis. Thanks for sharing your experiences on this!

Hi Louise, have you been referred to a rheumatologist who has experience with Behcet's/autoimmune? It sounds from your description that it would be worth it. Please look on the Behcet's Syndrome Society web-site for info too. Good luck.

Louise - Get thee to a good consultant ophthomologist who *specialises in iritis/uveitis. The 'black spots' you mention are most likely 'floaters'. Please discuss with a specialist consultant. You are in the UK? Then Moorfields. They command such specialists - on an international plane - very good. Mouth ulcers? Found very often with AS and vaginal ulcers as well as! Unfortunately, AS has many possible 'bed fellows'. Don't know what medications you are on, but there are many more now than was the case just a few years ago. No, there is no 'cure' one can but 'manage' the condition. Many find that a no starch diet helps (see Prof Ebringer and his research work - only given credence by a few rheumatologists) but, you can start no starch and when under control move to a low starch diet. NASS has covered some of Ebringer's work otherwise, check in at www.kickas.org - much information on NSD/LSD to be had there. Hope this helps. go well -

Wendy are you getting your eyes checked by a opthalmologyst??? I had those symptoms & mine turned out to be iritis & uvitis! I dont want to scare you if you havent already you need to pester your doctor for a referral! Treated early enough they can treat it with drops & steroids. The opthalmologyst will just put drops in your eyes & shine lights into your eyes getting you to look in various directions.(hopefully you wont have this but idf you do I would recommend you buy a prepaid prescription (£29 odd for 3 months) as I forked out nearly £60 in 3 weeks of appointments before finding out this existed. I too dont have the genital ulcers (thankfully) though have experienced 3-4 of the symptoms as well as blood tests coming back with the likey type to have Behcets.

i have had a lazy eye since i was 5 years old i never was given the chance for correction i am now 37 and my left eye has very poor vision,my right eye is fine with no problems,is it to late for me or can botox injections into the eye help with some vision back could you please help thank you

Hello Mart,The main problem with a drifting eye is the cause.Because most people with a squint do not have "binocular vision"that is to say that the brain does not lock both eyes in the same direction due to the squint. so there will always be a slight difference between the two(especially when the muscles are tired),in fact an operation on a squint from childhood is only mainly for "cosmetic reasons"as true binocular vision is developed in childhood.a squint developed in adulthood is more likely to have a favorable outcome due to "binocular vision"having been already developed.
