Hey, I'm only 15, but I've noticed that my breasts are a tubular shape. I don't know whether this is normal for my age or whether the breast shape will change. I got my period about 3 years ago, and since then, my breast size hasn't changed at all. I'm about a B cup, sometimes I barely fit into a B! My breasts are very far apart (abnormally widely spaced.) There's no breast tissue underneath my nipple/arealo and the breasts have a kind of 'tubular'/'triangular' shape... they don't naturally curve like normal breasts do, they 'stick straight out!' I really don't know whether this is serious or not, whether it's really abnormal or if it will change once I stop growing. I've noticed other girls in my class seem to have round breasts. I'm too embarrassed to go to the GP. Is there something wrong with me?

Hello I am 20 years old and for a few years now I have suffered bad with my breast. 2 years ago now I refered to hospital for pains and miss shaped breast. My left great is 2 sizes bigger then my right and I have had mammograms and scans which confirm I have no breast tissue. This makes me in so much pain. The hospital seem to have done nothing to help. I would really like to know what I could do. I don't really have a lot of confidence and Have been thinking about breast plants would this help? Thankyou. X

I recently turned 18, and I started my period when I was about 14, my breasts have taken a long time to develop, and I'm small 34 C/ 34 B. My breasts have a tubular look to them, and aren't full and round. My nipples are really puffy, and the areola and nipple are raised up quite significantly from the rest of the breast and form a mound on top of it. When they're touched or its cold the nipple pokes out and the areola shrinks flat to the breast, and they look normal apart from the shape of the breast. I'm so disgusted with them, and I'm so scared that they're not going to change. They're not in proportion with the rest of my body at all and look so disgusting, I'm particularly bother by my nipples. Does anyone know if they'll change shape or have they stopped growing? Has anyone else had similar problems? Help!!! Its worrying me so much!

I'm 29 and having almost the exact same symptoms...

stop layin on your chest, and also dont lay on the left side of your heart too much pressure, also slow down on dairy produce and salt

Okay so I have a question, I'm 17 now and my left breast is a full 32B and noticeably still growing, however my right breast is still an A cup, not to mention it's not shown any signs of growth in the last 2 years. It is still sort of in the 'conical' shape where as the B is normal breast shape - what I'm wondering is: will my smaller breast eventually grow to almost match the other? I don't really want to get surgery I'm just hoping something will trigger some growth? Makes wearing summer tops and boys an absolute nightmare for me. PLEASE ANSWER ME x Laura

Im 16 and i have the same problem.. I tend to wear padded bra's or have gel pads inside my bra to make them look even. My mum says its totally normal but im not too sure. I plan to make a trip to the GP sometime soon to have their opinion, maybe you should consider that too... I hope ive been abit of help.. Jess x

I'm 17 years of age and my breasts seem saggy/droopy. I'm not overweight and haven't any children. They are a size 32DD is this normal for them to be droopy at my age. One is a cup bigger than my other one. They are not perky. This is affecting me very badly, I'm becoming more and more depressed. I absolutely hate taking my bra off and going in the shower. I don't know if this is something that is psychological and my breast are actually fine. Could my breast shape change as they develop more?? Thanks

I'm 19 and I have tubular breasts... I hate how I can't fill my bra naturally, but what gets me most and worst is that I may not be able to breast feed. Is there any chance that I can improve my chances of breast feeding? Will surgery help (though I dislike the idea really)? Also my breasts often change shape... not at a certain time of the month, but if pressure is applied or if it's cold (don't laugh ^^") the areola (I believe that's the right word) shrinks to a "normal", small size, and the breast looks "normal". It ends up reverting to its usual odd self though. Any idea what's going on there?

Hi I'm 20 and I have tubular breasts too. My breasts are quite pointy and my nipples are puffy. Mine, like yours, look 'normal' when they're cold. I've been to see my GP and a breast surgeon, (although I can't afford surgery) and they confirmed I should be able to breast feed as some breast tissue is there. Hope this helps you & I'd also like to know why they change shape and can look 'normal'.

Please read my post dated 5-17-12...It will answer a few of your questions.

Hi, Im a 32 year old woman. My right breast (& armpit area) are painful and feel like a bruise is there when I lay on my right side. There isn't a bruise & I can't feel any lumps although I do have a lot of breast mass. It's been painful for the last several months or so now & I thought nothing much more than normal because as a woman you hear all the time that breast pain is "normal". What is starting to concern me is that in the past the pain would come and go in both breast but now it's just my right breast & permanently there. Should I be worried or is this just "normal". I seem to exhibit signs of breast infection however I'm not breastfeeding and have never had children. I also cant recall ever bumping or hurting it but even if I did, would the discomfort have lasted this long? I've tried other things like not wearing a bra for ages, even stopped shaving under that arm incase it was infection but nothing helps. Could this be a cyst I just can't feel? I am overweight. No other notable changes ie no discharge, no breast shape change or dimpling so I'm really not sure what or if I should go to doctor about this. No fevers, night sweats etc. Sorry for rambling on.

Hi, I've just been to the dr with what sounds like a similar problem. Pain in the arm pit and breast and a hardening of the breast tissue across the top, I wasn't going to go because I didn't think anything was wrong but I'm glad I did. I have had it checked today and have been told that this is not normal and that I need to see a specialist and have a mammogram and scan. My advise would be to be safe, get it checked out! I can let you know how I get on if you'd like xx take care xx em, aged 30 x

Thanks for your response Emma, I'm sorry to hear that you too are going through this. Since I wrote in I have been to the doctor and already been to the hospital for scan, they really sped things up which was so good. All showed up as normal breast tissue and I've been told not to worry about it being cancer. So that's ruled out although I still do not know what is wrong or why. I'm going to try anti inflammatory gel as the doc thought that may help. Even the ultrasound scan was painful for me as they have to press down when they run the scanner (not sure on technical name). There cld be possibility that it's pain coming from somewhere else but it feels like the breast. You cld try leaning forward when u do your next self exam and if you don't feel pain in breast you know it's not there. I hope this helps a bit before you go so you can explain to doc you tried this and that. Keep me posted on your progress pls as hopefully between us we can come up with something. Evening primrose oil also helps with breast pain xxx

Hi I'm 18 years old, and I'm really concerned about my breasts, the way they are just seem abnormal. I've never came across any other boobs that are like mine and it really gets me down. I am in a relationship and it is hard for me to show them off, I always wear a bra and tshirt when having sex and just in general sleeping in the same bed as my partner as I'm so concous of them. I am a 36D, my nipples are inverted and really pale, and my boobs are saggy, so they are not even a 'boob shape' the nipple is also lower on the boob that where others are normally. I am overweight for my age/hight etc does that make a difference? if I lost weight would they change shape etc? is there anything I can do to change them and get confidence?

no, loosing weight only makes the problem worse. I am 16 and my boobs are exactly the same as yours, I recently asked my boyfriend if my boobs were normal and he wouldn't answer instantly meaning that the answer was a no. I lost 2 stone and my boobs only became saggier. my nipples are pretty much non excitant . however, when I was 13 my boobs where what would be classed as normal but since then I have lost a significant amount of weight and I feel this is what has cause the problem. I would highly advise you not to try and loose any weight as although it will make you slimmer it will only make your boobs worse.

Hi I'm 16 and have been self conscious about my breasts for quite a while now.. I'm a 34 B/C but I really despise the shape of them as they're a tubular shape. I was just wondering if this will change over time etc as it really makes me dislike my breasts.

I'm 18 and i've had painful lumps for over two years now, they're quite large but have got smaller over the last year. They're an odd shape aswell, they look underveloped underneath like i've only got breast on the top. I've been to the doctor but he thought i was talking about the size and didn't listen. i've also had the lumps checked and their not cancerous. Is there anything i can do to make them go? and will my breast ever change shape?

I've suffered from assymetry all my life i just turned 18 and have already had one surgery to fix it. Overall the surgeon who did it is one of the best mr mcully took away the best part of 5! cup sizes from one breast to make them as equal as possible. I truley understand what it feels like because i had one breast that was a c cup and the other an f cup... but the biggest problem was that the smaller breast was a 'normal' shape whereas the other was 'deformed ' it was an odd shape and to try and match them was almost impossible, but they are as near as. I dont think i can describe how happy i am with the results its amazing. and even the surgeon commented on the change in myself from when he first saw me to after. I Had to pay private for my surgery but it was the best money ever spent

Hey, I am 18 years old. I have different cup sizes as well. But, what I'm wondering is can my insurance pay for my asymetrical breasts? How much did it cost you to pay for your surgery? And, how can I find the right docter, that I know will get the job done?

Im not sure about insurance, but to pay privatley I whent to 2 surgery 'experts' the first wouldnt even contemplate what I wanted which was originally taking away the tissue from the large breast and then adding implants (to both breast) so that there wasnt a noticable change in size. I first went to a 'cosmetic' company I totally do not reccommend this. This is because they made me feel unatural almost and looked at me in disgust, and secondly after further investigation into the surgeon we found out he wasnt as qualified as they tried to make him out to be.However I contacted BMI healthcare, there website offers you the closest hospitals and then on staff surgeons for you to see, I live in nottingham and was seen by stephen mccully at the park hospital, he was amazing to say the least he was honest and gave you the confidence he was going to do the right thing and reccomended a range of options for me to take, in my case I went for a 2 step procedure 1st was to have a reduction (from the large bresat) and then have implants at a later date, but he is looking into doing this in an all in one procedure which is cheaper than the two step however it is in early development and i didnt want that risk. Now im glad i did this 2 step procedure because 6 months along and i definately do not want the 2nd surgery. in total i spent close to £4200 but it was so worth it as my surgeon is one of the leading surgeons for reconstructive surgery especially in cancer victims and is one of the leading surgeons at the nottingham hospitals. I would definitaley reccomend BMI they are healpful and occomedating and in my case as it was affecting me mentally (i was becoming depressed) they even made the acception To do the surgery for me under 18 years of age, which would not be tollerated in usual circumstances unless via the NHS. I really hope this helps, and from experience having this surgery is the best value for money and the changee mentally and physically were noticeble within a few days

Hi, I have a big hard odd shaped ball in me left breast and a smaller one on my right breast, its been there for over a year, sometimes it pains a lot, and some days it feels bigger then others, we don't have medical aid and I can't afford the doctors bills, is there a place in Johannesburg South Africia where you can get a free breast exam from a professional, its very painful and sometimes the nipple of the left breast points skew and droops low! The shape is very odd but sometimes when its extra painful and you look at the breast the shape changes into a weird shape just by looking at it

I have a couple of questions about the breast lift: 1. In the breast lift operation featured on this page the surgeon re-formed/molded the breast tissue with stitches. Do these stitches remain inside the breast? Do they dissolve and absorb into the body? 2. Also, My breast often swell a whole lot when I'm about to start my period. The swelling is usually very painful, produces a lot of heat, and creates a dramatic size/shape change. I don't enjoy this swelling as is, but I'm worried that if I did get a breast lift my breast would swell and then the breast tissue would be too wadded up to properly drain. What kind of complications do women usually have with this kind of surgery?

Hi i'm 25 and, although my breasts were never as large as yours, at your age they were rather pointed and i was quite worried about it. As i've aged the shape has definitely change and they have dropped, so to speak, and taken a more teardrop shape. Remember you are young and your breasts are still growing, they will change drastically before they're done. I think you are probably looking at grown womens breasts and expecting yours to be the same, they will soon :-) hope this helps in some way x

yes the shape will change when u get older but remember excercise will keep them firm and at there peek.

Hello Im 13 i have small lumps on both of my niples they dont hurt im just concerned and my niples tend to change shape.. most of the time this happens is when i am in the shower. i would also like to know can keeping a phone in your breast pocket lead to breast cancer because some teachers in school are telling me that i would just like to know the truth thanks x

At your age I would suggest that you wait. As you mature the breast shape may change. There is nothing to be ashamed of with tuberous breasts. Please do nothing hasty.

I am turning 14 in 2 weeks and i'm still quite conserned about my boobs. i know that cause of my age i stil have alot of time to develope but it feels like theres NO change happenning. I have researched a thing called tubular breast syndrome online and have found some women have boobs simalar to my shape and size now. Since i started my periods a year ago i have gone from a 32A to a 34C but i hate the shape. There almost pointed and droop a bit. It's really effecting my confidence but i would'nt dare go to my GP as i'd be to embarressed, even with my mum there, Any advice? Rosie xx

I'm in the SAME boat! Tubular (one is bigger than the other, huge areola, no discernable nipple, and what I would call a "pouchy" shape), but then when I am cold - or sometimes when aroused - the breast shape changes to round and firm, and the skin in the areola area sort of puckers up and becomes a normal size, and the nipple looks relatively normal too... they completely change. I would be SO happy if they would look that way all the time. My fear is that with the surgery something weird will happen when they get cold, or they will never look natural... what is going on with all this? We must get to the bottom of it!

I too didn't realise that this was a condition and thought my breasts were just a horrible shape. They are however only what would be described as mild and when my nipples are erect it changes the shape of my breast and look lifted and much more normal. Does anyone know if there is a procedure to make the nipple permanently erect which would solve the shape problem?

Hi, I have had this problem since i started puberty, i was the same age as my cousin when we went thru puberty, she "sprouted" i didn't. I knew from early on that they were not right just buy the shape, does anyone know if severe emotional trauma/psycological trauma can affect the growth during puberty as i'm the one who has had this problem in my family. To Jemma,I don't think there is a permanent erected procedure, tho i am going to look in to having mine reshaped but without implants - i don't trust those things!lol. I quite skinny too but i could put on 2 stone and my breasts don't really change or if i lose weight they definately go a bit smaller but hardly ever bigger! I would just love them to be more womanly!lol!

Hi - I have exactly the same problem. I have tuberous breasts but they are fine when erect (when cold or stimulated) I would love to know if surgery is possible on NHS and if it' possible to make them permanently erect. I hate showing them to my boyfriend and am worried I won't be able to breastfeed.

i am 17, the shape of my bum really gets me down i always look at girls around me and the shape of their bum and feel i'm not normal. it has affected my confidence and self esteem i never wear anything that shows my bum due to comments like 'you have a long bum errr'. i'm always looking for procedures, supplement tablets, excerise to change the shape, but what i have tried has never seemed to find a solution, im so jealous of all my friends i feel like im the odd one out and always try to hide when i feel someone is looking at it. someone please help me!!!

Is surgery really the only option to change the shape of the breasts? What if your aerola is normal but the shape isnt, as in pointy rather than round?

Hi, I completely understand how you are feeling, you've just described me, I'm also 23 I have 3 children and I've also been with my partner 8 years, I feel so embarassed about my breasts, they're really saggy wen I've not got a bra on, I'm so ashamed of them I have stretch marks on mine aswel n wen I bend over they come out of my bra, I can't answer my door if I don't have a bra on I just cover myself up all the time, I don't let my partner see or touch them, they feel flat, its stops you wearing the clothes you want and constantly makes you feel awful, I also would really like some help/advice, I hope that knowing someone else understands how your feeling can help you.

Hi I'm 30 yrs old and I've notice over the last two years my breast were like disappearing. I lost 25lbs really fast after my ex and I split up so I'm thinking maybe that's the reason they are so flat. I feel the same way you do and actually you describe the exact same problem that I'm going through. Sometimes it doesn't bother me but it really gets to me when my boyfriend and I are intimate. But I realized that my breast doesn't make me, me. That my boyfriend loves me for who I am not what my breast look like. Plus who else sees them besides you and your partner?! They make so many bras out there that can help you feel and look good so I would try not to let it get you down. It could always be something worse than flat breast! So be happy :)

I am 20 years old and i had my son one year ago. My breasts before having my son were different sizes and then they grew whilst pregnant and became the same shape. After having my son i breast fed for a few months but found it was hard in the breast which was smaller. About 4 months after breast feeding my breasts went smaller again and have now drooped as well and one is smaller than the other. I hate the shape and feel of them and it makes me feel very body conscious.

Hi I have Tubular Breasts with the large ariola, sagginf and the large gap between each breast. I am very self conciuess of them even though I am in my mid 20’s I have been for a consultation with a private clinic and it will cost me over £5000 as one breast will need a reduction so they are the same size or different size implants (which if the breasts do change shape will then become obvious). I would like to be confidant with my apperiance but really struggle and would like to have the operation but cant afoer the operation, does anyone know if I could have it done on the NHS as it is really getting me down.

hi, I'm 15 and my cup size is a 34A which I am fine about. It's just the shape that I'm worried about. They sag quite a lot and they are pointy. Also when they're out of a bra they droop to the side and are really far apart. When they are in a bra they don't fill it out properly because they are not shaped like the round cup. I want to know if the shape of them will change and if this is normal.
