Bed bugs were a problem that humans thought they had got under control, but recent years have seen a 500% increase in their occurrence. Read more →

I got my snug pierced a month ago and a couple of weeks ago I noticed a bump near the ball on the end of the bar on both sides, I've left it as I got a similar bump near my Tragus piercing that eventually disappeared without me having to do anything. The bump on my ear has now turned into a pea size lump and forms a skin type texture around it that I've picked off a couple of times but underneath that the bump is quite squishy and hurts whenever I touch it, it's white in colour with bits of red and I don't know what to do, is it anything for me to worry about?

you have a minor infection in it its really common with a snug. mine gets infect almost once a month but usually sorts its self out. go your doctors and get some antibiotic and i little tip get a flexible bar put in to take some off the pressure of the back of the ear. i left a curved metal bar in and ended up with a massive infectious bubble on the back of my ear that burst. since ive put a bio flex bar in no problems. also snugs will take forever to heal

Hi! I had my nose pierced around 6 weeks ago and my little lump appeared (I know its not in the same place but its still cartilage). I kept cleaning it with salt solution and Savlon and it only seemed to be making it worse. So I contacted my piercer. They said Ive basically cleaned it too much so its stopped trying to heal and has none of its own bacteria in it. Its not infected (and yours definately won't be after 9 months!) They are very common on cartilage piercings. The best thing to do it act as if it isn't there at all and it will go by itself! If it is still there after about 3 weeks then go and see you piercer and they will take a look! Hope this helps!

I have never had an ingrown hair but have developed a very dark large bump on my bikini line, not red just much darker than my normal skin tone. In the last 2 days two smaller dark circles have appeared either side of it but aren't yet raised into a bump. Is it related and should I be concerned?

I am only 13 and while masturbation i felt this hard bump at the Back wall of my vagina, i looked at diagrams of the vagina to identify what this bump was but there was no large bump on the diagrams. What is it and can it effect my reproduction systems to form a baby?

Ive got a small smooth skin coloured bump near the entrance of my vagina. I had genital warts over 7 years ago and it doesn't look like any of them that came up last time (i have not had another outbreak since). Can they come back after all that time? And how likely is it that it is genital warts as there is only one little bump and not several like last time.

In the majority of people, HPV (including strains 6 & 11 which cause 90% of Genital Warts) will "clear" the virus from their system. It is rare (but possible) for people to have recurrences after 2 years of being clear from Genital Warts. What you've described doesn't sound like a wart at all. I recommend that you get it checked out for reassurance but I honestly don't think you have anything to worry about. The fact that you haven't had a recurrence for 7 years & the "bump" is small, smooth and skin coloured suggests that you'll be fine. Like I said though, it is "possible" for you to have a recurrence of warts but this is rare, regardless of what you read on the internet.

I'd google Sebacious Prominence and Penile Pupiles. It's likely the prior of the two and something we all have to some extent and I first noticed them on myself as a 14 year old virgin as well. For what it's worth five years down the line not one of 10 girls has noticed or mentioned it to me. It is however always advisable to see your GP or go to a GUM clinic for a proper diagnosis.

This could be penile pupiles or more than likely sebaceous prominence. Pictures of which can be found online and usually appear at around your age when puberty hormones are rife. It's entirely superficial and is seen in some extent in all men and in personal experience I've never once had a women notice or mention it. It's always advised to visit your GP or a GUM clinic for a proper diagnosis.

After reading all the questions, i guess any little bump on the skin is a skin tag. And the GP's probably call them skin tags, but if you look at the picture you can see that they are not white bumps, or white pinky color skin etc. actually they look like little nipples, (and i mean little) I have a couple on my armpit and 1 close to my genital area and the don't bother me i guess i could have them removed but they don't bother me. I think I might have had some or something else like brown tags on my testicles and the demomtologist just freezed them off, no needle was used and it was painless. The skin tags that are like in the picture can be cut off yourself but they bleed, so my advice is to have freezed off. I think the GP's don't even know what there talking about when they say skin tags. I have no idea where u are but in the United States my doctor would not call any bump, wart, white bump skin tags.

I have a bump on my anus, it hurts very bad, like the skin is pulled too tight, but feels different than hemoroids in the past. It looks very similar to the picture above of the single bump. It's just very uncomfortable, I have a pic!

Hi. I'm 22 and I have a weird bump on one of my labia majora. It's dark and it hurts when I rub or press it. The skin around it is red and slightly protruding. The bump is small, but the pain is noticeable. Will it go away? Should I see a doctor?

I noticed 5 years ago that I had a bump on my head. It didn't look too bad but it hurt. I had my dr look at it and he said it was just a bump. Two years later still there...sometimes smooth sometimes rough so I asked my gp to check it out again. He said "looks benign" The bump has been there 5 years, it hurts a lot, breaks open and bleeds and I'm pretty sure it is getting bigger, I go to same dr he looks and says you have skin cancer, He excised a >7 mm from the crown of my head and closed with 6 stitches. It has been a month and my head is still very sore and has a hole the size of a pencil eraser, normal?

I have a very small bump on my vagina, on the smooth part above the vaginal opening.. It doesn't seem to cause me any problems but I was wondering if I should be concerned about it? It isn't an open wound - it's just a very small bump under the skin.

i have a bump just under my left knee cap that i have had for approx 5yrs. Even the slightest of taps to it puts me in pain. I have been to the hospital about it and they have said that they think it is excess cartilage. What do i have to do to reduce the bump and the pain? I have used anti-swelling cream and antibiotics but none have worked thus far. It is quite a large bump that is visible even through my jeans when my knee is bent.

I'm 19 and rarely shave, the last time I did was probably 3 or 4 yearsago. Now I have some ingrown hair but its hard to get them out, plus I have this huge bump in my pubic area and its hard. There is no hair where the bump is ( its like bald on the spot of the bump), it's hard. It hurt a little before but now it doesn't. Should I go to my GP?

I have the same problem and my huge bump is getting bigger! What do I do? I want to take a needle and pop it.

It may be a cyst? This sounds similar to what I had and I had mine surgically removed. It was like a lump above and under the skin with a small black head. I would squeeze it (which by the way you shouldn't do ha i found out after) and loads of hairs would come out alongside blood and watery puss. So it may be a cyst - I suggest you go to your doctor, hope this helps!

Sounds like you are having ingrown hairs after shaving. Ingrown hair is common among black people when shaving close to the skin. if a hair is cut off too close to the skin, there is a chance it will retreat into the follicle and continue to grow under the skin instead of growing out properly. The curliness of black hair can cause it to grow in a spiral under the skin, creating a painful 'Hair bump' or 'razor bump'. I would recommend using a pair of trimmers or clippers to shave instead of a razor. The clippers leave a bit of hair outside of the follicle, making it easier for the new hair to grow straight out as opposed to curling inward. I'm a guy but it happens when we shave our faces, stomachs and pubes too...

Ive had this bump on the shaft of my penis for about a month now. I believe that its a wart, but im not sure. Its a white/gray/silver bump that has a very small red outline to it.

Hiya, i noticed around 4 weeks ago a 1mm small lump on the forskin near the top of my penis until im errect then its alot lower down my shaft, this lump has made a home just above a blue vain going down my penis, i have had a skin tag on my penis close too the base before but caught it once with a condom and came off (didnt bleed) also no irritation, however this new little lump i have tryed looking closely but i dont quite bend that far haha, its a lighter skin tone than my penis and raised up alit, most skin tags i have on my body are sort of hanging by a thin piece at base but this is more like a bump goose bump, spot, type only way i can discribe up, just this one little thing, only got conserned when it popped up becouse unlike the last tag, it IS slightly irritated when i use a condom so was just wondering if it could maybe be a wart contract many years ago or if i have a new skin ta in the most annoying of areas im 27 and do most of the time have protecte sex but im not a saint i have dabbled in the past with "trusted" friends, i have never had an STI nor have the people i have slept with so im stumped but dont want too jump the gun and be poked and proded again at GU clinic, last time was not a nice experience
