I used to get cystitis very occasionally in my early/mid twenties and it was the classic burning, urgency etc. I used to be able to clear it with over the counter powders and only a few times did I need antibiotics. Now I get cystitis almost every time I have sex, but it's different. I don't get pain/burning, but really bad smelling urine with floaters that look like skin flakes in it and urgency. I can't clear it by myself and have to get antibiotics, though I'm allergic to trimethoprim. I'm concerned that I can't clear it by myself - is my immune system not working properly? and that the GP doesn't seem concerned with keeping dishing out antibiotics which I'm scared I'll become resistant to. What can I do?

I get a lot of water infections to lisa and thrush from the antibiotics so its just a vicious cycle for me I am also now resistant to trimethoprin and had a bad allergic reaction few years ago now to an antibiotic which has totaly put me off taken any really also get anxious while I have to take them but never finish the course as to scared I will have another reaction. I think they should be more to help us women in the way of not constantly handing out pills. Think we need to try lay off them and build up some good bacteria that will kill infection off. How did they manage before pills??? Hope your feeling better now Lisa.

Sounds like you might have a urine infection if it burns when you pee. Or you may have chlamydia. Go to your doctors, it will be 100% confidential, and explain the problem, they will test you. I have had urine infections, they're not nice. However, I sometimes find after sex, it burns a bit when I pee, for a couple of days, because I get a bit of tearing quite often.

Hi John, Go to your G.P. I'm not sure if the burning is another issue based on what you wrote. Burning from the tightness or for example burning from peeing. You also might want to try slow masturbation sessions using a long, slow stroke along with the cream might help stretch the skin some but don't over do it.

I have a similiar issue where I have torn tissue under the skin on the piece of skin between the vagina and bum. I had the burning soreness for about a week until I realised what it was. My remedy...Sudocreme. Dab a bit on the area before bed and in the morning. It can't be used internally but on that little area it has stopped the soreness and burning sensation when peeing. I don't know if will help in the long run, but its something you can get cheaply at your supermarket or you may already have.

Hi, these symptoms sounds exactly what me and my husband have. We got these little spots come up mainly round our hands and they are so itchy you have to pop them, When you do it has this clear fluid come out. Aaswell all our body itches, mainly our thighs and armpit. We have been to doctors several times and get no where. Have you managed to get a result.

My son used to have these symptoms as a child. We found the 'cure' was to change our washing detergent. From experience, Bold was worst followed closely by Persil and Ariel. Try using 'sensitive' products and giving and extra rinse.

This morning I woke up to a burning feeling in my vagina, and when I went to wee it burned even worse...I sat down for a bit and the burning went away, but I just went to wee again and the burning came back and some blood came out too! Help me please, I am in serious discomfort!

Hi Melanie, Sounds like you may have cystitis which is a bladder infection. If you see your doctor they will be able to give you an antibiotic, if it comes back again you can try and control it by drinking lots of water, cranberry juice & if you are sexually active, urinating straight after intercourse to avoid infection. But check with your doctor. Hope this was helpful!

Hi, please help I have vaginal burning since the past 4.5 months and it is agony. I do not have discharge but constant burning and now the clitoris is burning too. I have noticed that eating sugary products flares it up and it gets worst before my period.

hello I have recently got through what I think you are suffering from. At first I thought I had become allergic to my own cervical mucus I was also very itchy and burny on the outside with swelling also. The Dr treated me for thrush, then BV both diagnosis were wrong. I ended up diagnosing myself. I had CV -- Cytolytic vaginosis is a condition and not an infection, caused by the excessive growth of the useful lactobacillus bacteria around the vulva and vaginal area, caused because I had started taking probiotics (actimel drinks etc) so it caused a good bacteria overload in my vagina. As soon as I stopped probiotics it went away hope this helps you

I have the almost the same problem I have constant burning sensations and sometimes numbness in the vaginal area ..I seen 4 different Dr's who said first was a bladder infection then a yeast infection I\ve been on many meds and nothing cured it ..and I can't get a sex drive because of the awkward feeling and I always feel like I have to empty my bladder even when I just did then the burning gets worse..grrr someone help me

The doctor diagnosed me with Raynauld's in 2005 but I'm unsure that it is what I have. I get cold very quickly when sitting still and my finger and toe nails go blue. If my hands get cold and I then come indoors where it's warm I can get an awful burning and itching sensation. The worse problem I get is with my thighs. If it's not that warm outside and I go for a walk. My body gets warm but the skin on my thighs and buttocks stays cold. I can feel an attack coming on with a tingling sensation on my skin. If I don't take an antihistamine then soon I will be overcome by the burning and itching from my knees all the way up to my bum. Itching makes it worse but I feel like I need to stick my fingers deep in to my flesh because the itching is unbearable. My skin turns bright red, can appear lumpy like hives and is burning hot to touch. The doctor said there was nothing they could do apart from medication but I would be on this for the rest of my life. Has anyone else tried antihistamines? This helps me. The one a day stuff isn't much use but Benadryl Relief is good as it works quickly.

I've realised that I have another symptom that I'm not sure is connected. If my feet/legs get cold, even if the rest of me is warm, I suffer will nagging aching legs. I've suffered with this since I was about 7 years old. At the time the doctor told my Mum that I had growing pains. Pain killers don't seem to have much effect and I can find it difficult to sleep with the pains in my legs. I have to try and warm my legs up by wrapping them up with a blanket and using hot water bottles. Sometimes my legs are sweating but still aching! Does anyone else get something like this? Is it part of the Reynauld's?

Sure sounds like your having an allergic reaction from a medication. I have rashes and symptoms like u at times and benedryl helps. I know its because of the infusions I get. Benedryl helps with allergic reactions. I'd ask your doc to try a different drug and see if that helps.

Hi, I am a 34 yr old mum of 2. I had excess skin on both eyes. I've been to a dematologist and was advised the only way they could do away with this is, burning the skin with acid. This is not even a guarantee, it might even grow back and again leaving black scar on skin. Please, what can I do about my case? Thanks.

Hi, i'm 15, black and a girl. I started itching last night, at first I thought something bit me as my body was covered in red spots that are like filled with something and when I scratch them it starts to bleed. Also when i'm in the shower it reaallly hurts and it felt like my skin was burning during the shower i literally kept yelping in pain.I thought it might be because of the heat as a similar thing happened and keeps happening to my left foot since May, but then I remembered that I stayed with my niece two weeks ago when she had chickenpox. I don't know what to do my skin is burning as I write this and i'm crying from trying not to scratch myself. Please help.

I'm 19 and have been suffering with this for nearly 5 months, experiencing the sharp burning and stinging just around the entrance. Has anyone else been prescribed gels such as Instillagel and Ametop Gel? Both are local anaesthetics, but both have just created severe irritated burning from the moment they touch my skin, and I think the Ametop is what keeps giving me thrush on top. I find it weird that of all 4 or 5 of the practitioners I have seen have so far been hesitant to use the Amitryptiline.. :/

Hiya,I am 19 aswell and also suffer with this problem and have been for 3 years. Amitryptiline seems to be the first medication drs want to use because they say that vulvodynis is to do with 'over senstive nerves' so with the amitryptiline it is meant to help and ease the pain which is caused by nerves. Drs usually start on a very low dose like 10mg then gradually go up on a two weekly or a 2 week basis. I have been doing this for a while now and am now up to 30mg which I have been told is enough. I must point out this is not a cure as sadly, there is no cure it is just to help ease it. In answer to you other questions I have tried numerous local anaesthetics, which do cause a very strong stinging sensation too so I have stopped using them. The other thing that I have found helped alot is using Dermol in the shower to wash all over, it doesnt bubble or anything but it stops it getting irritated from any perfumed products. Also when it serverely bad I use epaderm to put on it which seems to calm it down, it also acts as a good lubricant and a barrier cream for things like swimming. As I am still having issues with it I am now waiting to see a physiotherapist for some pelvic floor exercises which are meant to help. I hope this helps for you as I understand how difficult it can make life.

is it the semen that is burning you? and now you have stopped him coming inside you you don't suffer with the burning sensation? because i get a really severe burning sensation too when this happens.

Hi I am 31 Years old and have a very active lifestyle including playing football and going to the gym. I am a very clean person and wash everyday. However I am extremely embarrassed about my right foot. It is extremely itchy/burning sensation especially at night. The skin is dry and flakey. Directly under my big toe I have hard skin that I often remove but comes back. Worst of all are the toenails they are becoming dark/black in parts and yellowish in colour. The nails are extremely hard. They seem to be rotting away. I have been to the Doctors about the dry/flaky skin, whom put it down to athlete's foot. I used a spray, but that never seemed to work. In-fact seemed to affect my toenails and make them worse. I use Sudocream sometimes, as it seems to help the burning sensation and dryness. Is that any good? I'm not sure what to do/use and definitely want to get this sorted. The strange thing is my left foot is absolutely fine. Please help

I have suffered from this vaginal burning for at least 14 yrs. I bumped into a web site only this past week which suggested I up my intake of echinacea 500 mg 4x a day, oil of oregano 500 mg 2x a day, and now I have incorporated incorporated vitamin C 1000mg 3x a day. The burning have subsided tremendously. I feel like finally I'm on the right track to being healed of this horrible burning!

You can by Driclor from any chemists and it is about £7-£10 but I found it very harsh on my skin and it felt burning and itchy when applied so I had to give up. It can also go too far and dry up the skin on hands etc until they crack. No easy answers.

Hello, i'm 26 and have just had my first child six months ago and just developed within the last two months a really bad skin condition on my hands and feet. My skin is red and sore, it itches and sometimes i have a strong burning feeling when i am hot. It starts as little tiny blisters which start in little groups then they pop and the skin cracks and peels away leaving sore raw new skin which then repeats the cycle. It can be very sore and is affecting my daily activities with my baby girl.

Kellie, the burning sensitive is not that bad, it will not affect the eye ball, only the skin outside. It will goes away after a few mins. Just be focus and imagine the good result and it will overcome your fear or doubts. The steps are simple just made a thin slice or two of the garlic and put them on the spot and push and hold them there. There will be burning sensation but no pain no gain they say. It definitely worth the effort. I cannot wait to return home to do the treatment daily, because I seen the spot flatten now, I have been wanting to cure it but only naturally.

I often wondered what the intense burning almost annoying pins feeling was after attacks almost a burning so bad that the pins feeling almost itches so bad!!! My body does this a lot when its cold outside and I jog. My body warms up and bam it happens. Raynauds hasn't stopped my activity in jogging or sports neither has the burning aftermath. Bittersweet that others also suffer from this.

im 25 and i keep gettin small red spots on my facethat sometimes dissapear then re-appear,their sometimes quite itchy.ive been to docs and they say its acne but nothing they gave me helped, ive got sensitive skin so it usually made it worse or fealt like it was burning my skin.this really dents my confidence.any ideas?
