I've suffered from eczema on my eyelids. My flare ups haven't been as frequent here as other places but im only 24 and noticed my left eyelid has started to droop/sag. The skin just seems looser now. I've heard recently that steroid cream can thin skin and im freaking out that I've done irreversible damage as I've been prescribed this for my eyelids before. Could I be right? It's really effecting my self esteem as it's changed my look significantly

I really would like some explanation to why this is, I'm also getting a milky like discharge. Please give me some closure on this,

Are you sure this is about eczema? And also I've had that happen after I've been drinking Alcohol. Alcohol is generally bad for people with eczema anyway. It removes many major nutrients and hydration from your body.

Hi, I am a 26 year old male and have recently developed what I believe to be eczema on my right eye lid. I just wondered what the best course of treatment would be as I know that the normal creams used can eventually thin the affected skin and as eyelids are already quite thin I dont want to do myself more harm than good. Thanks, Darren

hello sabrina its not much fun is it? I have psoriasis on my scalp and also on my eyelids and ears. Polytar shampoo was working well on my scalp but as others have said it is not available at the moment (should be back early next year sometime) and I haven't found any other shampoo that works at the moment. for my eyelids and ears the doc prescibed diprobase which is ok if you apply it 4-5 times a day but i have found that ordinary vaseline is better, particularly on the eyelids - still need to apply it maybe twice a day but it does seem to be effective. give it a try.

Most of these symptoms are due to the Demodex mites living inside the sebaceous glands in your eyelids and causing irritation by their dead bodies and leftovers. The only product that works is tea tree oil which you need to use as shampoo and in a full bath immersion and diluted directly on you eyelids and lashes. You must follow this regime for at least two weeks.

I have just discovered that I have xanthelasma, having seen my GP for other reasons. I also have high cholesterol and he thinks there is a possibility that the bumps on my eyelids and fatty lumps elsewhere on my body may be inherited. All the women on my mother's side of the family have these lumps. I had thought it was something to do with aging and would never have known that it was connected with cholesterol levels. I am now embarking on a strict diet to try to reduce cholesterol, and will be returnign for more tests. I don't know if this will help to reduce the lumps on my eyelids.

I suffer with this condition and for 3 years attended my local skin clinic where the lumps on my upper and lower eyelids were frozen and treated with acid. Unfortunately this did not help and i ended up with unsightly scabs on my eyelids(as if the lumps weren't bad enough looking). Thankfully i was eventually sent to see a wonderfull plastic surgeon who, 2 weeks ago surgically removed the offending lumps. The surgery was called a Bletheraplasty ( it was really the same as an eyelift). Now that it has almost healed i think i look wonderfull and people have stopped asking me "whats wrong with your eyes"

It sounds like something that you are concerned about, Laura, and you should go and see your GP as it might give you some closure. Clearly you will continue to manage as you have but you might feel better knowing rather than wondering. Best wishes.

the septum is thin anyway not sure if it would be possible with out going to a doctors to determine if it has got thinner or not. Could just be a bit paranoid from come downs etc? However you shouldn't be worried about going to the doctors even for a check up just in case. That way at least you will get peace of mind and definite closure.

Hi, I'm Garima, age 29. My heart murmurs were strong since birth, though detected very late.I had an open heart surgery 7 years ago in India. It was an ASD closure. There are the operation scars because of that and it looks very embarassing. Could something be done to get rid of that???

Forgot to add that HS is common in women with PCOS; the disease and the pus are NOT contagious altho care should be taken; latest research says it's not the apocrine glands, but the hair follicles that get inflamed; watch out for accutane & roacutane products - very dangerous side effects; be careful of biologics (enbrel, adlimubab, etc) - altho short term relief is positive, most patients get HS back again worse when meds are stopped. Use women's self-stick minipads in your shirt sleeves or in your panties for absorbency when drainage is non-stop. Also, use micropore or pink hairset tape to secure larger-than-alien non-adherent dressings available in medical supply shops or ordered from the pharmacy. If your doc recommends surgery, be sure to research the kind of closure intended - there is research on success rates for different types of closure (skin grafts, secondary intention, stitches, de roofing, etc). Do the research and give it to your doc - don't depend on them to do it. Block the door to make sure they read it. Don't agree to anything you are not sure about - they are not gods - they don't know it all - they just act like they do. don't let your doc intimidate you - find one who will listen. And yes, stopping smoking and eating healthy will likely improve the disease. Speak up and Speak out! Don't hide!

I have the same problem and its really sore, plus watery, burning and very red sticky eyes, I have been told it is hayfever, although i'm not convinced I've had for a year now only steriods helped, but can only take them for a short time and antihistimines and various drops do nothing

sometimes one or both my eyelids clamp shut involuntarily, and I can't stop them but this only happens like once every four months or so...so that is not this condition is it?
