hi i have this too and its so embarrasing its getting warm and i wear polo neck tops, i was giving steroid cream which helped the scars abit but hasnt stopped the spots

I am an 18 year old girl. I had the nuss procedure on my chest 2 years ago. My chest is quite unusual because on set of ribs did not grow enough causing my sternum to twist up to 90 degrees. Due to crowding of my heart and lungs along with shortness of breath and chest pains, they actually used 2 bars rather than one to fix it. I can breath now and have no more pains, but one side of my chest is still noticeably more sunken in than the other. I'm wondering if there is any non surgical possibilities.

I have a similar case with both Pectuus Carinatum and Excavatum causing my sternum to twist as well so one side of my ribcage is raised while the other is sunken. I had one nuss bar around the age of 15/16 but it worsened it. I am not sure there are any non surgical ways around it. Now 21 I have chosen to have another surgery, similar to the Ratvich where cartilage and bone is removed and the sternum is twisted. As well as this I will be seeing a plastic surgeon after my surgery.

i have had severe chest pain now for several months, I have been on the heart monitor that was clear, i had chest xray of my chest wich showed two grey patches on my left lung, my doctor sent me for pysio on my chest wich made this pain worse i went back to him and he told me there was nothing more he could do and to basically go away and live with it i have had no pain relief from them what so ever is this normal?

I am a 36 year old male, who as a teenager suffered from this condition along with being labelled as intersex or a true hermaphrodite. I had surgery for my chest at a hospital in Southampton and they cocked up by taking too much away. I also had lumps in the breast as well, I have had more surgery on my chest since in Swansea. But there is no difference, I will only take my top off in my own back garden. I would love to be able to take my top off in public and to be able to go swimming. Please can you help to improve the look of my chest.

Don't worry! I also have very dark hairs all over my body and I know from past experience that t was probably not the best idea to shave that area, but you can still fix it! What you have to do now is, just wait for the hair to grow back out (should take between 3-9 days?), then just wax that area. Waxing, while not permanent, does pull out the hair from the root, while shaving just trims it down and leaves a little stub. The waxing takes the hair clean out and leaves you smooth and dot-less. Remember to put a soothing cream on the waxed skin afterwards so the area isn't irritated. Good luck :)

When i get sharp pains in my chest or when it feels like my right lung has popped i get a red itchy rash all over my chest what is it?

I had my son 6 weeks ago and have just been told the ceiling of my vagina has collapsed slightly. It sticks out slightly and I can feel it when I move about. I was told to keep doing my pelvic floor excercises and it will get better. Can I also use a pelvic toner to speed things up? Electronic or one with weights?

Hi, I am 26 and have suffered from excessive sweating since I was 15. In 2002 I had the operation to cut the nerves at the back of my neck to stop me sweating excessively. I had major complications to the surgery, It was horrific and the pain was worst than the 24 hours of labour I had when giving birth to my daughter. I had chest drains inserted at the time of operation due to the nerves being cut and the chest cavity being invaded. Then when the chest drains were removed my lungs collapsed several times. I would like to say to anyone thinking of this option please DON'T. To make matters worse the sweating came back a year after my operation and now is the same as before under my arms but now the whole of my back drips with sweat just through walking. Please think twice

Hi, my three year old son has recently been admitted into hospital with serious respiratory problems. We noticed at birth the middle of his chest was sunken but the midwife reassured us he would fill out and it was nothing to worry about. There is a long history of cardiovascular heart problems as well as respiratory problems in the male line on his fathers side, and i understand that most cases seem to be hireditory. His diafram also collapsed as he uses this to breath instead of the outer wall muscles of his chest due to the lack of flexibility within his ribcage, and have noticed since this is how he breathes. It is already extremely noticeable at his young age and my understanding is that it gets much worse as he reaches adolescence until the time he is fully grown. Have any others had this since they were born? It basically looks like someone has dropped a bowling ball in the middle of his chest, and I am worried that it will only get worse as he gets older. He is such a happy, confident little boy and I don't want this to change, is there anything I can do?

Hello Sarah. Not sure if you will get this but my boyfriend of 8 years now has the sunken chest, he was born with it. He is now 25 years old. His chest is pretty sunken in, and so far has caused him no health problems. It may get a bit worse as your son ages but it may not get TOO severe, it may even itself out and just turn into a minor maybe slightly severe dip. I have heard this causes some people heart problems and it is a possibility maybe this is happening to your son. But I have never heard of anyone loosing their life from it and they may be able to do surgery when he is older if its really bad. As your son ages help him do excersizes that strengthen his lungs and his chest and also cardio. This will ease the tension that might be on his heart and also make his heart stronger and able to deal with it better. But dont fret! My boyfriends chest is pretty deep and he is still doing just fine! :)

I have had this since i was born I am a 21 female. My brother was also born with this however has been able to work out his chest and his is much more less noticeable than mine. Nothing to worry about puberty may be tough but overall most people find it interesting rather than embarrassing

I am in the same position as you. I am a 47 yr old working wife and mum and I have perforated my septum through nose picking. I am so ashamed of myself and scared stiff that my nose is going to collapse. How would I explain that to everyone. Every morning the first thing I do is feel to make sure my nose hasn't collapsed in the night. The thought of it makes my stomach flip like it's already collapsed I am so certain it is going to happen. It is stopping me from getting on with my life as I am now obsessing about it. I just feel sick inside about it. I would love to be able to discuss it with someone who understood and didn't judge too harshly. Have you had any luck with professional help?

Hi now I don't really know if I have ps cause my doctor never really checked my chest cause I was a kid I am currently 19 and I have gone to the doc but I never ask about my chest cause I'm embarrased but my left chest is completely flat and my right chest hangs a little i was looking at pics online and I saw a pic of a women with ps the before and after and her before pic looks just like my chest so does that mean I have it??

Stop drinking drinks ,beer even natural juice and just run 45min a day .....I myself had huge boobs on both upper and lower part of chest but my doctor advised me to eat vegetable and forget the sweets ..so I stopped eating lunch only ate breakfast and dinner which really made my chest fat lesser but when my lower chest fat was left I started a to play football as I'm good at it 2hrs each day plus my extreme diet made me loss by boobs especially by drinking green tea (jasmine,or any. Else) so I say it is not impossible to get rid of man breast as i had breast about 8cm in diameter I thought it can only be removed by surgery and I was very scared and most of the boys at school made fun of me last 2 years ago but know i have more muscular chest which Is straight just in 1yr 2mth...I hope u follow this advice .......by the way of you are going to gym start doing bench press up and push ups 30min a day will help your moobs to reduce.....all the best

I am 22 and I have asymmetrical pectus excavatum which means that the dip in my chest is worse on the right side of my chest. I had the 'nuss procedure' when i was 18 which improved my chest slightly although not enough to say that i was satisfied. The procedure involves inserting a titanium bar into the chest and cranking it round to 'pop' the chest into place. The bar remains in the chest for about a year. Unfortunately mine harboured an infection and had to be removed with all results reversed. Following this i had Bio Alcamid inserted much like the fluid used in the video clip. The results were far better and although my chest isn't perfect it is far less noticeable. Contact your GP to be referred to a specialist. The younger you are the more likely you are to get results as the musculascelital parts of your body are more responsive to manipulation.

I am a 39 year old woman with a corrected funnel chest. I first noticed it in my early teens but only plucked up the courage to tell the GP when I was 25 as it was getting me down so much. There was a huge dent in the centre and left side of my chest and my left breast was non-existent as a result. I was told there would be a very long waiting list on the NHS so I paid for private treatment. The GP had never seen or even heard of the condition before and first referred me to a Cosmetic Surgeon who admitted he couldn't really fix the problem. I was then referred to a Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon who said he could help. The total cost was about £3,000 and was major surgery involving breaking 10 ribs and the sternum in 2 places. This was in 1996 and I don't know what the procedure is now, however it was drastic and I had to spend a week in hospital. I felt as though I'd been run over by a truck - the pain was horrendous. 4 weeks later I was rushed back to hospital with a collapsed lung and spent another week there. Even now I still have discomfort especially when sitting at a desk for instance or even lying on my side in bed. There is a constant feeling of tightness or pressure round my chest which makes wearing a bra or any tight clothing very uncomfortable. Cosmetically the surgery was a success as I doubt anyone would notice any problem now and the scar is barely visible. The left breast is still smaller than the right but not so noticeable. More importantly however, prior to the operation I had never had any relationships with the opposite sex as I was so self-conscious about my chest but within 2 years of having surgery I met my lovely husband - we got married in 1999 and now have 2 gorgeous children who wouldn't be here if I had not had the operation. The surgery definitely changed my life for the better but I wish it hadn't been so invasive. I would think the techniques have improved since then.

hey there, i was late developing and i didn't get my 1st period until i was 16 and didn't really have much going on in the chest department either. i am now 20 and i have a rather large chest in less than 4 years.... enjoy having smaller chest, seriously... you have to carry them around all your life so make the most of not having them. i have serious stretch marks and pain in my back and neck and its very uncomfortable. i know what its like to be 15 and want a chest but just enjoy being a teenager and it will come when your ready :)

i unfortunately have a funnel chest as you would call it and mine is pretty deep. it is really effecting me with self confidence and it also leaves my chest tight sometimes. i would like nothing better but to have a normal chest and would like to know how. i also have a heart murmer/echoe. will this effect whether i can have it or not?

I am a 43 yearold male,I have a deformed right hand. My chest and right side of my body are missing muscles. I worked all my life as an electrian. In 2005 i was working in a twenty foot hole ,when it collapsed, injurying my left shoulder and my left arm. I have had four surgerys to my arm and shoulder. I still have crontic pain from my injury. it is too painfull to return to work. I have filed for disability, but turned down, because they don"t connt my poland syndrome as real. With the pain i have in both arms , it seems that i am always miserable. As i have gotten older my fingers on my right hand are growing together. they are more nubs than fingers. Iused to use my right as a helper hand, but now it is too painfull. Now that i cant work , i have no money for doctors. I am tired of hurting,, I need help..... Any sugestons that would benifit my condition. I would be gratefull for........... Thanks Paul

Hi, I'm a 28 year old male and I have a concave chest. I dont have PE or rotational scilosis. My concave chest was caused by my elbow interfering with my chest plate during birth development. I can fit my right elbow in my chest cavity perfectly. As for my breathing, I'm fine. I work a very physically demanding job and I'm a smoker. I hope this can help anyone who is concerned about their condition. No need to panic. Just because you have a concave chest doesn't mean you have a genetic illness or need corrective surgery. As for those with a condition that requires surgery, you have my sympathy and support. Best of luck to ya.

I am 36 with two kids, my breasts were barely A before nursing and now barely AA after nursing. I don't even have anything left in my breast, feels like the little breast tissue I had were sucked out with breastmilk too. Anyway, I am quite frustrated and discouraged with my absolutely flat chest. Even my husband has bigger chest than me (he is a skinny guy). I want to say I feel the pain of all those flat chest women out there and a bit relieved when I see the comments above, know that I am not the only one with flat chest. For normal days I wear padded bra, my biggest problem is wearing swimsuit. What can I do to make my chest look not so flat with swim suit?

I have had exactly the same problem! Last year, I found a Modbe brand tankini top that has a lightly padded cup & is rouched (vertically) across the bust. I love it! The best swimsuit I've found that makes me look like I have some sort of bust :). You could also check out Hapari swimsuits, I believe they have "pockets" that you can insert water-wearable pads to add some to your bust. Good luck!

Hi, the pain I had in my chest went from my diaphragm upwards and was like an ache that spread right across my chest. I would sometimes get sharp pain too that would go through my chest up towards my shoulder area. The other thing that used to happen was an indigestion type feeling and food would repeat on me a lot. No disrespect to your specialist but I don't think they always understand what it's like. When I first seen mine he said he doubted it was endo as it wouldn't cause pain other than when I had my period. I think that sometimes they think we are being irrational about symptoms that we associate with an illness we think we may have. That's all I can say is that since my surgery, despite still having some pain, the pain in my chest has gone.
