I am a 34 female and I have developed, over the course of about 2 years, patchy dark pigmented skin on my face, chest, between my legs, a little on my palms and my feet. I already had white patchy circles on my trunk so to now have dark patches I look very patchy. I have seen my doctor about it and he said that it is chloasma but I have had my hormones checked and tests came back normal, I'm not pregnant and as far as I know not going through menopause. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this patchy skin? It feels exactly the same as my pale skin but it looks like a dark brown irregular patched mask on my face and chest. It is all across my forehead and onto my cheeks and around my mouth. Please Help. Thanks.

I have dark patched on my knees, people comment that they look like bruises. The same dark skin tone can be found on my elbows and top inner thighs. What is causing this skin pigmentation? I have been check for PCO's and have been told my hormone levels are fine but have not been a conclusive finding as what is the problem.

Hi, I have a skin tag on my testicles and I have noticed that there is a dark cirlce around the tag. Sounds silly but I can't remember if it has always been there or not (the dark circle that is). Is this normal or should I get it checked out?

I got my nose pierced 9 years ago with a piercing gun, since then I've had a dark grey area surrounding the piercing that won't go away, after seeking advice on this mark from other piercers they tell me the skin has scarred this colour like a tattoo and the only way to fix it is to get a skin graft, I'm now 26 and don't feel the need for my nose piercing any longer but don't want this dark grey mark on my nose for all to see, help!

Unfortunately, without some form of cosmetic surgery or a simple concealer, this sounds pretty permanent.

Piercing guns are notorious for causing problems. It uses blunt force to shove something through your skin, breaking tissues instead of piercing them cleanly like a needle would do. That, and they're used over and over again without ever being completely sterilized (even if the stud is sterilized, the whole shebang is only as sterile as its dirtiest part). In the future, don't let anyone near your body with a piercing gun! They're dirty and dangerous things. If the grey area is very dark, I suggest using a concealer that won't irritate the hole (if you keep the piercing). Go to your doctor and ask about it -- because if you want it gone, you most likely will need a skin graft like the piercing professionals have said.

If you have dark skin. You can try pure Vitamin E Oil, which you can buy from health food shops/chemists. buy the capsules which you can pierce with a pin, and only use on the dark patches only, not the surrounding skin, which will help fade the pigmentation scarring. If you have dark skin enjoy the sun as the tan will help even up the skin tone, if only till it fades. Also my Gran swears by the pure Aloe Gel, which she used to make me put on my skin, for my acne pigmentation scarring, p.s be careful using the Vitamin E and then going into Sun, as this may not help the problem. Also make sure the Vit E, quality if you buy creams or lotions, is powerful enough to do some good!!

Hi, I am an Indian female(married) living in UK for last 2-3 years.I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question. My underarm skin and inner-thighs are really dark compared to the rest of the skin.As far as I can remember they were always bit dark but not this dark.I recently consulted my GP and she prescribed anti-fungal cream. I applied it for about 2 weeks everyday , however it did not seem to have made any difference at all so she said that it seems to be normal. I am not sure if this is natural or due to use of Deo and anti-perspirent all these years.I do sweat a lot so I do have to use a deo. It is quite embarrasing for me and has been like this for a long time but it seems to be getting worse every year. I used to only get my under-arms waxed but recently I started using razor thinking that maybe waxing is causing the skin to get dark. I would really appreciate if you could suggest me some treatment /cream for this. Thanks,

I have been suffering with a problem under my arms. On the armpit region the skin seems to have dark patches that are dry. just recently it has become worse. it may be the soap i used but i'm not sure. the skin has now begun to flake and is still dark and dry. I'm not sure what it is and all i can think to do is use soap for sensitive skin. anyone have any advice for me please?

I'm 17 and have dark skin under my bottom lip. It doesn't itch or irritate but it's darker than the rest of my face. It almost looks as though it's dirty but I wash my face three times a day. I did get dry itchy skin before around my chin but began to use eperderm which it a thick cream which made the flakeyness go and stopped the irritation. I really feel embarrassed of this dark skin under my lip. I have read that lemon juice n honey mixed together can lighten the skin but I'm still weary as it may make my skin worse. Please help me overcome this issue.

My friend has the same problem. She avoids wearing tank tops, skirts and short dresses. She's very self-conscious about it too.

i am a 23 year old black female and i get spots all over my back, on my chest and at the top of my arms. I have tried creams and tablets and also ointments and scar serum. Nothing seems to work i havehad this problem since i was about 13. As my skin is dark the scarring is also very dark and i find it embarrassing. I always cover up the affected areas and especially in the summer this is very hard as i start to sweat and this makes me feel even worse. I asked my doctor about lazer treatment or even an acid skin peel but i was told that because my skin is dark it will make it worse. Can you tell me if this is true and could you please help me to get rid of the horrible scars.

There is a lot of normal variation in skin color around this area across the races. Often Asian or Mediterranean or afro caribean skin tones can be quite dark there even when they have relatively fair body skin. I am also quite dark there. Initially I found it embarrassing. I have since learnt to accept it. No one else has found it to be a turn off, in fact to many it seems quite exotic and attractive. You may not like it and may feel you really must find a way to change it. As you get older you will see no-one is turned off by it and hopefully be happy

Hi, basically I have dark brown skin on both my knees. My natural skin colour is an olive to light brown complexion, so It is causing me to be very self conscious and as a result, I cover my knees all the time. I have had this problem since childhood, and I am now in my mid 20's. I would be so grateful of some help to lighten the dark patches of skin on my knees if possible. Thank you.

The skin of my penis gets darker bit by bit that it get closer to the testicles ..It's not a gradual changing, the skin shifts from light colours to dark ones sharply. But in this dark area (only the dorsal side of penis: the frontal one is "clean") there is a small piece of light skin, and it's really smooth... Should i get scared? Could be some problems related to poor cleaning? Sorry for my bad english, i'm italian

Your English is fine. No need to apologize. I'm glad that you mentioned you are Italian, because when I began to read your post, the first thought I had was, "What race is this guy?" Since you are from the Mediterranean region, it might be possible that your darker color is related to genetics. However, in your case, I suspect this is NOT the case because if this were true, you would have been this way all your life and wouldn't be concerned about it now. Thus, my question would be, "Is this a change in coloration for you?" If the coloration has been changing, then this would suggest to me vitiligo. Vitiligo is a condition that causes depigmentation of sections of skin. The cause of vitiligo is unknown, but it has nothing to do with poor cleaning. Research suggests that it may arise from autoimmune, genetic, oxidative stress, neural, or viral causes. There is nothing to be scared about. The first thing to do is to see a doctor and confirm what's going on. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitiligo

IPL the new laser light.... supposively, Suppose to be all skin types... bullshit. the new IPL well lets just say you dont want sun damged skin from any laser treatment or dark pathes. Im asain and ive tried it but i had 10 treatments and still need more, waste of own money and plus leaves you with sun damaged skin and brown deep patches that u need treatment to get rid of the dark patches... with a crystal clear machine, effective but has left my skin very thin with no collegen... girls my best bet is for the moment try Nad's Gel until a laser comes out for all skin types and only 1 treatment is needed!
