I have got like ridges forming on the surface of my two front teeth and they seem to be getting worse and the front of my teeth seem to be decaying in between the ridges so that there will eventually be holes on the surface. Do you know what I can do for this?

My teeth are in pretty poor shape after my childhood and my reluctance to clean my teeth. I'm living with the consequences now, but thankfully I am brushing my teeth twice a day currently. However, my top 2 teeth have began to rot at the top of the tooth where it meets the gum, and I have had numerous fillings. Is there anything I can do to make the appearance of my teeth better, make the teeth whiter and look more healthy. And also, disguise or fix the rotted area between my top two teeth and my gum.

The most suitable solution is to have 'composite' restorations placed which are white - this must be done by a dentist and is available on the NHS for anterior teeth. Keep on top of your brushing etc., stop smoking and avoid foods that stain teeth including wine/curry etc.

the rot at the top of your teeth is because you are not cleaning your teeth properly. i would advise a trip to the dentist to have the rot removed and filling placed, and thena trip to the hygienist for a very strict oral hygiene regime

Hi I'm stevie and I'm coming 26, for the past 9 years my teeth are yellow and the enamel is off most my teeth, I used to drink a lot of fizzy drinks when I was in my teens. I always have to fillings done because I'm always breaking and chipping my teeth and I also smoke I know that doesn't help my teeth but I have tried to quit a few times in the past. But I have bad anxiety problems that I just can't socialise with people because I don't want people seeing my teeth, I can't remember when the last time I actually smiled. Because of my teeth I get badly depressed and there days that I don't eat beacuse I scared of breaking my teeth. I have no confidence or self esteemm, when I see people in street they have nice perfect teeth. I hate my teeth and I hate myself for what I have done to them. Can anybody help or give me advice?

I'm 34 and some of my teeth have crumbled. I only have 24 teeth left and at least 5 have crumbled. I brush my teeth twice per day. My dentist told me that it's due to smoking. I have friends who smoke more than I do but have perfect teeth. Why are my teeth doing this and how do I stop it?

Hi, I'm 15 and recently my dentist has been baffled as to why I still have my baby teeth. I recently had to go there because if two teeth chipping, they were both baby teeth, molars and both on the side of the mouth I eat with normally. The dentist a say it was caused by the pressure of the adult teeth growing and excessive grinding, probably while in bed.My teeth are in good condition, I brush two-three times a day with Clinomin toothpaste as it prevents staining from tea and coffee. I was wondering if there is anything I could do about getting my baby teeth out and stopping grinding, as my dentist hasn't offered me any treatment. Please help, I love my teeth lots, thanks.

hi, im 18 and had the same brown marks on my 2 front teeth through medication etc from when i was younger. i went to the dentist several times and they suggested having vaneers to cover my teeth. i recently moved to a new dentist who suggested microabrasion where they put some acidic substance on the teeth and scrape it off which removes the discolouration i had this done a few months ago and im now completely happy with my teeth :) x

you have got 2 options, 1st don't worry about them at all, if it's not painful, we all have got at least one weakness, some one is short, some one have got bad teeth, some girls got really small breast, .... 2nd, you pull these 2 tooth out and make 2 new once, ( artificial) however it will costs you.

Hi. I knew someone in the same position as you but they put off going to a dentist until their 20's and needed a lot more work doing. Please go. Trust me a dentist will have seen teeth a lot worse than yours even though you may not believe it. Have you got someone you can take with you for support? I know going to the dentist for the first time can be nerve wracking. I promise you that when you have been you will be so happy that you had the courage to go. At the end of the treatment your teeth will look and feel so much better. Even if you have to lose teeth they can build what's called a bridge. This is were one tooth is used to make up to three teeth. You will feel no pain and I think once you have your teeth sorted it will help with your depression and confidence. I promise they will be able to fix your front teeth so they look great. Just find a reputable dentist near you today and make an appointment. It could change your life!

I inherited my dental problems from both of my parents! From my father I got overcrowded and twisted teeth whilst my mother passed on her very sensitive gag reflex. My teeth are generally small with one front teeth twisted around at 90 degrees such that you can almost see the back of it. My sensitve gag reflex means that I start wretching as soon as I put a tooth brush in my mouth. You can imagine how difficult it's been to clean my teeth. I even struggle with the taste of any mouthwash. I was offered braces at the age of 9/10 but because of my gag reflex the dentist simply was not able to take any measurements or take a dental mould as I couldn't keep the moulding cement in my mouth without wretching. Most of my upper and lower back teeth have been removed, all of which had to be removed with me being knocked out first as I can't keep my mouth open for more than a few seconds to allow the dentists to do his/her work. Now, aged 47, my biggest fear is that all my teeth are decaying and falling out and just like my late mother there is no way that I could manage to wear false teeth as they would simply make me gag and wretch. How can I beat this gag reflex?

I have on the top set a bridge that has 6 teeth on it,my pegs are decaying and my dentist is saying I need to have them out ,which in itself is no problem,my bottom set are lose and my gums are receding at times they are painful and very lose i cannot eat when this flares up...my dentist has said I would have false teeth top and bottom! The thought of a plate being in my mouth makes me feel sick "gag" at the thought of it...I know there are implants I could have but are very expensive and I have no idea if my bone would be able to take the implants...I have always gone to the dentist and thought I was looking after my teeth, even getting over my phobia of the dentis for my boys ( I wanted them to know there was nothing to fear sitting in the dentist chair) but my dentist has told me that there is a DNA factor here receding gums! The end shot for me is I cannot wear dentures so will carry on with my teeth as they are now until I cannot take the pain any longer...is there any way I can check to see if I am suitable for implants?

You need to book an appointment for a consultation with a dentist that specialises in implantology. easiest way to find one in your area is to google it. They can assess your bone level and tell you the best options for you. Hope this helps.

I really feel your friends pain -PLEASE try and get it across to your friend the glue he is using will poison his blood stream! The reason I know this is because my daughter didn't like her ear - it stuck out and she hated it, she would not go to school for long periods faking all these illnesses, then she started going to school out of the blue - I was surprised but happy she started back at school. Then 1 day I walked in on her in the bathroom putting super glue on her ear!! I was mortified! I handled the situation with care, love and empathy and she them put her trust in me to sort the problem - it was when we were at the doctors we found out how poisonous the glue was, so please tell your friend this. I do not know one dentist that has not seen a bad mouth full of decaying teeth, with technology the way it is they are improving all the time and there is not one thing they cant do to put your friend at ease and help him regain his confidence and smile again! You need to help your friend believe it is possible to get help no matter how bad he thinks his teeth are, they will be able to fix it.Please tell him there are hundreds of people who have really terrible teeth that visit the dental hospital in Manchester that I go to and I have seen some who are terrified and have lost all their confidence come out with huge smiles on their faces - I know because I was one of these people - please tell your friend I did it, I took the bull by the horns and decided I need to get off my butt and do something about it, I am so glad I did because now I never stop smiling and your friend can do this and smile as much as me too!

i have had teeth discolouration ever since i can remember. everyone looks at me as though i do not brush my teeth, i do twice daily but i still have discoloured teeth. my teeth are a mix of white/yellow, some are speckly and some with patches. i was on prednisilone since the age of 3 - 14, and this could be the cause. i am very self-conscious about my teeth :-( what can i do about my teeth? its not a pretty smile, id like to have nice white teeth and a bright smile...... any suggestions please?

Hi,can you tell me how I contact these people.

Hi i have had problems with my teeth as far back as i can remember,i'm now 43 and my teeth are in a real state,my upper front teeth are chipped and broken and when i try to eat my teeth hurt like crazy.I think my teeth are beyond repair and would like to have them all taken out but i'm worried about dentures not fitting correctly and i'm not sure were to start with the process and what is available on the NHS.
