I am a 34 year old male, 16st 10lb & for many years I suffer from a very bad running nose. It just itches & starts to stream really bad within 30 seconds. Its like guey white like if i had a cold but its not.. i have tried hay fever tablets & also nasal sprays to ease it but nothing is helping. As soon as I start to wake, it starts streaming, during the day when i've had something to eat and in the middle of my shift & also when i have an evening meal. Its making my life hell.. I think i can manage to polish off a full box of Kleenex per day when i have my bad days.. Even when have a pint at the local, my nose starts streaming straight away.. takes about 20 - 30 minutes to settle.. Its so embarassing! Some times it takes all day to ease! When Using the PC my nose starts dripping onto the keyboard.. My GP won't refer me as i have to work it out for myself.. I have gone to the expense on replacing the matress (incase its dust mites) & still no avail.. Please, Please Help!!

After I used the restroom as I stood up it started dripping but not dripping like water it was more like sticky, I just wanna know if there's something wrong with me or is it normal? I'm really worried but I'm afraid to tell my mom.

Hi there as like a lot of young people I have enjoyed a few years partying however my nose has really taken a beating and I think the bridge in my nose has started to erode away on one side and the cartilage in my nose feels as if it's dropped on one side, unless I told you about my nose problem you probably wouldn't notice it if you met me but me knowing about it and feeling the pain of it, it constantly plays on my mind.. What so I do?

After a considerable amount of acne on my nose, I began scratching it and squeezing it to remove spots, which has left my nose very red and inflamed. I thought that it would go away in a few months, but the redness is still there after about a year, and it is confined solely to my nose. I do not believe that there is any significant swelling or thickening of the skin on the nose, and if there is it is very small. I have no idea what I am suffering from, and it is very embarrassing; what is my condition, and how do you alleviate or stop it?

This past January I had a septal button put into my nose, because I had a very large hole in my nasal septum from a previous surgery I had when I was little. Just recently, the right side of my nose has been sore and swollen and making the right side of my mouth to hurt. It hurts to blow my nose, eat or even smile. What should I do and why is my nose hurting this much since my surgery?

Hello, I'm not sure if I have nasal polyps, but when I look up my nose I have what look like swellings up each nostril, one worse than the other at the moment but can change, they look fleshy, red and I can't feel them but I can never breathe properly out my nose and when I do have a look the passage down my nose is mostly all closed up, it was only when someone else looked I realised it wasn't right! Recently also I've noticed blood coming from them, not enough to worry about but I wondered if anyone else had the same problem? I have been to the doctors who just looked in my ears and gave me drops? Also recently bought more sprays for my nose but I don't notice any difference really! I'd have an op on this like I've seen comments have done! But the thought of being awake and having it I just don't think I could go through it! Any advice or anyone have the same problem!!!!

You probably have swollen turbinates. I have the same problem. They are fleshy coloured balls that when inflamed you can see yourself by shining a torch etc up your nostril. I've had two operations on mine and I'm still struggling to breathe propperly even now, 2 years later. It all makes you very depressed as not a lot of people appreciate you breathe 24/7, any continual problems really impact quality of life. You need to ask your gp to refer to you to an ENT consultant. I was misdiagnosed by my gp for 8 months and my ENT, although trying hasn't managed to fix my problem.

Hi, at last, someone else who suffers from Hyperhidrosis all over! I am sitting typing this with perspiration dripping all over my computer in spite of trying to mop it up with a nice soft cloth! My hair is dripping, my nose and chin. This is a horrendous condition that keeps one a prisoner. Botox is not suitable neither are any deodorants or mineral powders, you cannot put all this stuff on your hair, head, neck, arms etc. Still hoping for a miracle or at least understanding of this horrible thing. Will try to put pictures onto this site. Good luck everyone!

I have a constant dripping nose. My doctor has given me nasal sprays but these don't seem to work. I get through boxes of tissues weekly and it is totally embarrassing when I am in meetings at work or talking to colleagues, friends or family. My husband will say to me "wipe your nose" before he kisses me - very romantic!!!! I am at a loss to know what to do next, my doctor doesn't seem to help.

Having had nasal polyps for over ten years, (16-26), I completely sympathise with your plight. I had no sense of smell, a constant runny nose, and breathing and snoring issues a plenty! After having two operations to remove the polyps, they unfortunately returned. This was, I believe, because Doctors only focus on the symptoms e.g. the polyps themselves, and not the ROOT CAUSE; which is an allergic reaction to food! After following the advice of another sufferer who I met online! I am now COMLETELY FREE of the polyps! This worked for me, so I hope it works for you too! Cut out ALL (and I do mean ALL!!!) wheat...gluten...yeast...and dairy! This includes bread, pasta, cake etc, and just about every other nice food in existence! ESPESCIALLY ALCOHOL! Cease drinking any form of alcohol too. As extreme as this all sounds, after following a new wheat/dairy free diet, the polyps vanished! It takes about one month-six months to work however, but don’t lose faith! The ability to smell again is a miracle for me!! My snoring has stopped completely and my nose never runs either! You may want to try an elimination diet first, just to make your parameters as wide as possible. Examples of which can be found online! I implore you to try it, and good luck! ...A former fellow sufferer. :-)

A few years ago I notices two small hard lumps either side of my sons nose. I thought it was cartilage so I left it. My sons says that his nose is painful and he often has a blocked nose. I tried looking up his nose and it does seem like there are lumps inside- although it is difficult to see. I was wondering if he could have nose polyps?

Hi, I've had a forceful blow to the nose; the doctor has told me it isn't broken, but a week on I feel as though my nose doesn't feel the same. There isn't any swelling, but when I inhale through my nose, my nostrils close together, which never happened before. Also, when I exhale through my nose I feel as though my soft pallet is lifting and blocking the air flow. I also have noticed since the blow if I drink too fast I can feel the water flowing up my nose. My question is; is it possible that receiving a blow to the nose can move/damage or weaken the soft palate? I am also worried that the cartilage in my nose will collapse; how likely is this? Many Thanks

Same problem. Get impetigo every three to five months. It appears under my nose or on the nose. Often around my eyes and on the neck. GP has been useless and i have had to drive the investigation. Swabs only showed scant staph in the nose and nowhere else. We have tried the decolonisation of the nose but it didn't help. I have no idea what else to try. I am 37 by the way and this has been happening since I was 18.

Have you been put on a course of oral antibiotics - flucloxicillin? I'm 36 and battled it for many years with incorrect diagnoses from multiple doctors, did my own investigation, requested a 2 week course of flucloxicillin (at the time I had a large lesion that had been there for 6 week despite multiple antibiotic creams and doxycycline oral) and within 24 hours it began to improve, healed in 5 days.

In reply to Lisa's comment. Yes I have had fluclox tablets but just for one week. To be honest it still ran it's cycle even without them. Thus far the lesions are scabbing by around day four or five and drop off within two weeks. This leaves pink marks that take time to fade. I may ask for a longer course the next time it happens but how long have you been clear since taking them?

I am a 62 year old male 20 years ago I had an operation on my septum 10years prior to that I got injured and broke my nose even though luckily cosmetically my nose remained straight my septum buckled and blocked breathing hence the NHS operation to rectify the problem, but up until 3 years ago everything was ok but then my nose started to bleed and every morning I have to physically remove the crusts to enable me to breath through my nose, is it serious because no one has asked if the hole will get so big it could affect the outer part of the nose Help me I suffer with anxiety and depression why does it bleed, is it an open wound I am worried to death I knew somone who had to have an artificial nose because his nose had to be removed God Help Me.

Well, I am sad to hear about your anxiety, and having recovered from that myself, I'd like to help... I have a small perforation too which I ignore but occasionally, when it gets infected and bleeds (which is what started it), I wash it in water until the bleed stops, then treat it with some First Aid Wash. The good news? I've had it for about 7 yrs, and in that time I had 1 cold (& much less severe).. I used to get 2 to 3 a year. I just had 'flu and STILL not head cold. The wash I use? I can't recommend it to you, but it is Savlon Cetrimide (from Boots)... do not use without doctors advice and at least a tiny test patch 1st .. and don't over-use it (blow out excess, just leaving a very thin layer). And pls do see a doc if nec (& I'm sure they can point you to some safer wash). So does Septal perforation = cure for common cold? I hope a doc looks into this..

May I add to my reply... (And hopefully others too will find this helpful), at first I too removed the crusted blood clots manually that resulted from the original infection, without realising it was damaging the septum and causing more bleeding later (curiously, it does not cause further bleeding straight away). I was mortified when I discovered the hole so to stop further damage I used good old vaseline (after cleaning the wound with water). That dramatically softens any further crusting, thus stopping damage when you clean. Can I also add that knowing how depression is such a difficult thing to go see a doc about, you can legally and effectively self medicate with St John's Wort on eBay (quick before the EU bans it) .. and recommend also Vit D3 (who's absence is a big contributor). These cheap hassle free remedies changed my life. Pity they don't fix the economy which is undoubtedly a common underlying cause...

I told them only when my nose is blocked that's is when the headache starts. I have used several types of nasal spray but nothing seems to worked , what can I do?

Hi Sharon, did you get the biopsy for WG? What was the result? I had my biopsy yesterday for the same thing. Someone above mentioned Crohn's disease. Does anyone else suffer with both like me? I've read that nasal perforation can be a rare side effect of crohns. My hole is 3cm. Again, no drugs.

Cant believe other people have this problem. I had this terrible smell up my nose and I was referred by my doctor to the local hospital about this, the doctor there looked up my nose and told me about the hole and said I had an infection. He asked if I had surgery up my nose before, He prescribed Naseptin cream and to use it 3 times a day. It is horrible I have only been using it at night, after you put it up it feels like you have the cold and your nose is blocked. In the morning I have to blow really hard to get this stuff down my nose. He sent me for a CT scan, which I have had and I am going back on the 2nd March so see what he says. I think he will be mad cause I havent done it 3 times a day. I will just have to wait and see.
