Hi, I am 28 years old, I was healthy n regular to gym, but last 6 month, when I do intense exercise I start coughing n struggle to catch a breath. but as soon as i relaxed i become normal. I also cough a lot in during night, n have to wake up to spit the white cough which looks like thick saliva. I been to hospital n had chest X-ray n sputum test n blood test . Which all came negative. Doctor checked for asthma which she told me, she is not sure about but looks like asthma. I m not allergic to anything.( not checked). Any help. Going to gp is useless as they only give u an inhaler rather than finding the cause of problem. Thanks

I have had a persistent cough for about 20 years. I have been told acid reflux is causing this but nothing seems to help. I don't cough when I am in bed, but I cough when I have eaten or when I excercise. It us very annoying for me and other people.

I have Sjogrens. I have had recurring bouts of upper respiratory infections- 4 bouts in 5 months.it isnt a chesty cough, my GP declared all was clear. It comes with a sore throat, so it's difficult to swallow & when i do its painful and it also hurts my ears. I also have a barking cough, which makes everyine look at me. I was told that it sounded as if i had croup! I do feel poorly for the first few days, then gradually feel better, But the cough stays with me for weeks. I noticed on the current bout, that i had a more than usually dry mouth all day, followed by my voice crackling, and then the cough etc.Having researched Sjogrens a bit, i found that recurring bouts of upper respiratory infections, can occur with Sjogrens. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything i can do to alleviate cough etc. I also have fibromyalgia, so I am already on heavy duty painkillers which affects whether i can take cough medicines. Help?

John, I am in the same boat as you apart from mine is left sided. What I can say is when the lump appears stand up and push gently in on it and cough. If you can feel the "cough" in the lump it's a hernia and I would advise you go to your doctor. If you can feel the cough then yes it's a hernia. Hope your not in too much pain I know what your going through

Hi I am a 38 year old male who has had a persistent chronic cough for the last 8 years, the doctor diagnosed this as cough variant asthma. I have thick mucus that feels like it is sticking in my throat, and I have to cough hard to clear it. However I have always thought that I have mild cystic fibrosis. Is it possble to only display cf symptons later in life? Please excuse my ignorance but I do not know much about this illness. Having a cough for 8 years is definately not normal, and it gets so bad sometimes that I can not talk without hacking up flem, after 8 years of this I get pretty fed up sometimes. I dont want to just live with it! More recently I have developed a epididymal cyst and am experiencing stomach cramps and bloating. The cyst is painful, but I have been advised just to take painkillers. Any help/ advice would be appreciated.

See when I went to my local walk in (as it's easier to be seen there than at the GP surgery), he told me I couldn't possibly have tonsillitis (despite already having had it 3 times in just over a year) because I had a cough! I have now just gotten it again, which is why I've come here because I have a bit of a cough too.

My daughter is turning 9 in a few months and just had a sweat test done. I really had no idea what it was for. You see she's had a cough on and off for the last 8 years and we eliminated allergies and asthma. When I asked the nurse what they look for in the test i panic'd when she told me. I had no clue what CF was. My daughter has had her cough forever and I just hope we figure this out soon to get the right treatment. May God be with us all

Hello I had a baby 6 months ago (I had a relatively normal birth, apart from my son's head got stuck and after 2 hours of pushing I had to have an episiotomy) everything healed up fine, however over the past month I have noticed some bulging in my vagina, particully when going to the toilet and over the last week I have had, and still have, a very bad cough, this has made everything so much worse, it now feels like everytime I cough my insides are going to fall out! and I am experiencing some bladder incontinence, which has not been a problem for me before............help! Regards

The lump is right at the front of my vagina

it could be chlamydia, it could also be vaginismus, endometriosis, cysts, cervical erosion...if the chlamydia test comes back negative you need to push for a referral to a gynecologist who will be able to investigate further. a prolapse is where the muscles that hold the inside of the vagina essentially give up - an easy way to see if this is a possibility is to lie down with your legs apart with a mirror so you can see down there and cough - if you cough and you can see the inside of your vagina coming out of the hole then yes, its probably a prolapse.

I have a recurring problem with one of my tonsils. The tonsil on the right hand side of my mouth swells up at least once a month, if not more. It's only the one tonsil and i've never had a problem with the other one. It causes me to have a very sore throat and a horrible cough that hurts my chest and my throat. I've been to the doctors about it twice and both times i've been turned away. When I have it it's affecting me badly because the cough it seems to cause drains me of energy and I feel awful. Plus it affects my sleeping because I lay awake coughing and in pain. Any advice that anyone could give me would be great.

you can go to your gp , who will then ask you to lye down on the bed and raise you legs as if you were having a smear.. [ legs rasied and open ] then will then ask you to spread them open as far as you can and ask you to cough. when you do cough if you are proloapsed you can see movement in your cervix. if they cannot see any movement then you are fine.. prolapse is often called by child birth over 50% of mums have it at some point.. it is when your cervix comes down entering your vagina. nothing to worry about that much. but you could possbily tell if you had a proloapse.. as you may wet yourself quiet often. - weeing when coughing, sneezing etc.. - go on embarssingbodies channel 4 for more info..
