    Phimosis

A tight foreskin is most commonly diagnosed at an early age, as 95% of 16-17 years olds should be able to retract their foreskins fully. Read more →

I am a 14 year old boy. I have a 4•5 inch flaccid penis and a 7 inch erect. My penis has a large foreskin that covers the the top with a lot of excess. When I have an erection my foreskin just stays on the top of my penis and doesn't stay under my glans. It's not tight or enything actually quite loose but I am wondering is it normal to have a foreskin like this or should I be circumcised?

Yes, it is normal for some guys to have a lot of foreskin, exactly as you have described. Since it is quite loose and not causing you any problems, then there is no need to try and fix anything. When you eventually get around to having sex, you can experiment with retracting or not retracting prior to insertion and discover which way will work best for you.

I believe you can reduce it with the circumcision, it is the most ordinary, most common procedure done to the penis, and is as simple as to just cut the foreskin away, when a child is young the parents can choose between doing it or let him grow and decide by himself, just pay your doctor a visit, it isn't expensive at all.

I have halved my size in the last year and a half. I now have excess skin at the top of my arms, legs, and stomach etc. Due to my weight loss, I now have excess skin , I now have folds in my skin, which is extremely sore and painful. Can I get any help with my excess skin? I'm in more pain now due to rashes and sores in my folds of skin that I was before I started loosing my excess weight. I have gone from wearing a ladies size 28, to wearing 18 -20 and still continue on the right road.

Hi there well done for your weight loss,i'm the same as you and have lost 11 stone in 8 months and now i'm in a size 16 to 18 close, which is good. I have applied through my Dr for help with getting the excess skin removed which is about 3 and a half stone. But sadly i have been turned down for NHS help due for there is no funding. I'm disabled and i have been told if i want it removed i will have to pay for it myself, sadly i don't have that kind of money. So sadly for me the excess skin has to stay. Good luck

Hi, I'm a 17 year old boy and when flaccid I can pull my forskin back quite a distance but not all the way, it seems like I've got excess foreskin and it's also very tight, when I am erect it is very hard to retract at all only revealing the tip of my glands, I really don't want to go down the circumsition route, but I have had to turn down sex twice now and I really don't know what to do. Please help me

Im not sure if I have been circumcised or not.... The end of my penis (the head part) never gets hidden by the foreskin, although there is excess skin there, I have heard that some people have loose foreskins and these don't cover the end, is this right or am I circumcised? Thanks

No, you're not circumcised! Many penis' and foreskins come in different sizes. If you've been circumsised, you have no foreskin.

I need more information to know however, you could be Partial circumcised. Partial circumcision is a common procedure that's favored by many men as a happy medium. The removal of just the contractile tip allows the foreskin to retract upon erection, but still retain its protective quality as a natural shield for the head of the flaccid penis. The risks you run in undergoing a partial circumcision are largely the same as those that accompany a full one: a minute to moderate amount of bleeding, infection of the circumcision site or an infection of the urethral opening. Another long-term difficulty could arise, however, if the partial circumcision proves to be an insufficient one, leaving a bit of foreskin that is a nuisance during intercourse. In the hands of a skilled surgeon, however, this outcome is a rare one.

I think I have foreskin problems it seems as If I don't have any foreskin at all but the top of my penis is messed up I have asked around and many people say I may have been born with no foreskin is this true? Any advise anyone on what's wrong with my foreskin?

you may have been born without foreskin, but unlickly. It can be a sexal problam. Only 1 in 20,000 are have this problam. Otherwise most lickley you had the forskin cut off when you were born. This is a poplar choise. it is called crimasine. basicly they numb the penis and burn it off. ask you'r perents. but if you think you have a sexal problam go to the drs/hospital when it is next open for tests.

I am a 16 year old girl who has excess hair leading to my belly button, fortunately it is not as excessive as Anokhi's but it makes me feel extremely self conscious. I am on the contraceptive pill as I heard this can help with cases of excess hair. I was just wondering what pill Anokhi was on, if it was the same as mine and if mine would in fact help my excess hair problem. I am taking Ovranette. Thanks!

My excess hair runs in a straight line from the middle/bottom of my breasts down to my belly button. More hair runs to my pubic line but I have shaved from my belly button to that line. I also need help to get rid of this excess hair!! I think shaving will make it look worse. You are not alone!! Please help!

You really shouldn't worry so much about this. I am uncircumcised and my partners don't mind at all. It is normal for your foreskin to stay in place if it is long. And remember, there is nothing abnormal about having foreskin. I think it abnormal to be without. Be happy with what you have and with what you have left. Circumcision is the last thing anyone would want to do.

It does not matter what anyone else thinks and most of the opinion on the web is biased. Most of the time it is out of sight in your pants getting all sweaty and unhygenic. You have no choice but to live with it 24/7, so just decide what appearance or function that YOU want for your own self esteem and then go and get it.

I can not retract my foreskin over the head of my penis but also have a lot of excess foreskin. I think that because of this, the excess foreskin tightens and will not allow me to retract it. It can sometimes smell unhygienic after 2 day of not showering but I really wouldn't want to have a circumcision. Please give me a few things I could do

Be gentle with it Steve. Try taking warm baths regularly, as this will soften the skin. Gently try retracting the skin in the warm water and wash the tip as best you can. After a few months of this you should have more movement as it will stretch. Make sure after washing you pull the skin forward again.

i'm 17 years old and when i was 9 I was washing myself in the bath when i accidentally pulled my foreskin back too far and it became detached from my bell end with a single bit still attached. from then onwards my foreskin has become saggier and usually covers my bellend ( having to peel it back when i go to the toilet). My penis is not so bad when erected at 6 inches but there's still foreskin covering my bellend and an excess foreskin when I peel the foreskin back. I am not a virgin but this kind of thing does worry me when it comes to girls. i'm just lucky no girls have pointed my problem out yet. Can someone please point me in the right direction about what i should do in order to fix this problem

Hi I'm Harry, I'm 15, 16 in a week, and have been suffering with a problem with my penis, all my life. The glans of my penis is extremely painful to touch but is fine when the foreskin is over it. It doesn't hurt to urinate but because it is so painful, it is impossible to bare cleaning it properly, so it generally gives off a very unpleasant smell that really kicks my self-esteem. It regularily produces a white discharge under the foreskin which is difficult to clean, and again smells. The foreskin can become tight at times but I naaturally have a lot of excess foreskin. I have visited my GP about it but they have only suggested canesten which did nothing. Thank you. Harry.

I'm an 18 year old girl and I've seen many penis' in your condition. Though you may initially feel that excess amounts of foreskin is a draw back (excuse the pun) in the bedroom department... let me alleviate your doubt as I maintain that a prominent foreskin both adds sensitivity and depth to the love act.

I'm 32 and I had the same problem as you, where my foreskin would tear often and hurt and would take a while to heal. I saw my GP and we agreed that circumcision would be the best option with the choice of getting the whole foreskin removed, or just the excess at the top. I opted for the lot to go and though I've lost a bit of sensitivity on my penis head, sex is a lot more enjoyable. I would recommend this, but it is a big decision to make. Hope this helps bud.

By your comments, I have come to the conclusion that you are uncircumcised. Not only that, but you also mentioned "when the skin is tight and dry..." If you cannot retract your foreskin fully, you are likely to have what's termed as a phimosis, which is a tight foreskin. This, in turn, can make it more difficult to get rid of any excess urine that is left after going to the loo, which, in turn, can irritate the glans and inner foreskin. I had this problem for a number of years, but I simply wash twice a day, with warm, soapy water and use a sheet of paper when I go to the loo. It's not always practical to use toilet paper, if you're at a urinal or such like, but as long as you remove the excess most of the time, it should ease off. Another factor is your diet. I'm not clued up on that side of things, but a change in your diet could make your urine less irritating. All the above is what I've been told by GP's and clinicians, for my own problem. However, you may have a different problem, so it's wise to see your GP. If you're embarrassed to talk about it, I've found it's always easier to use technical terms, like "glans" and so on, but that's just me. Don't forget, your GP has seen tons of stuff, they are there to do a job, which is to diagnose and treat your illness, so it's nothing to be embarrassed about mate! Good luck!

when ur not hard, the foreskin might hang more than other ppl that are uncircumcised. all penises are different. you might have a little excess foreskin. give it some more years. u are not done developing. 6-7 inches when hard is a normal penis size. its not small. that thing u squeezed and blood came out might be a pimple. just make sure u have proper hygiene and clean ur pubic area very well. this will prevent future pimples.

i have excess foreskin and becomes painful during intercourse would circumsion be advisable

Hi there, I don't know if you'll see this now, but for anyone else I'd like to share my experience. I'm 20, and suffered with balanitis for 2 years, caused by my tight foreskin, meaning that I wasn't able to clean away excess urine or smegma properly. I went to the doctor, who gave me a cream, but like you, it was too painful to apply as I could pull my foreskin back without being on agony. I was eventually (18 months later) referred to a urologist, who said that the only option now available was circumcision. It may seem extreme, but it also might present the best option to help clear and prevent both the phimosis and tight foreskin, so I recently underwent the operation, and am now on my way to getting better. However also be aware that, those under 16 still have some developing to do, so in your case, this should be a last option. Talk to your family though. Until I watched this show, I honestly thought that my penis and foreskin were normal, I did not realise that my foreskin was causing such problems, then I spoke to my family who helped out. Don't suffer in silence, these things happen and are not to be emabarrassed about. Good luck, and hope my advice helps.

Hi, im 21, and quite a large person, and when flacid have a lot of excess foreskin and when erect it dosent pull back over the bell end, i have no sore's or any dis comfort whilst masturbating or having sex , is this ok or should i see some 1

I had the same issue when I was 17 - 5 years ago. I had a circumcision and I've never looked back, it gets rid of the foreskin so you're penis is exposed all the time, no foreskin no problem, if you would consider it, speak to your doctor and explain everything to him, he should be able to give you better advice on a circumcision

Hi Rebecca, I myelf suffer from this. I am just a guy at university who is trying to make something of myself but with this issue have been turned away from job to job and I feel like giving up. it seems easier to go on benefits which is sadly frowned apon, only adding to the stress of my life. I try to apply for jobs where its cold, but being selective in this economy is the best way of not getting a job. I didn't spend years at uni and college and school to be stunned into a job that has good aircon. I hope you find a cure, I found the only thing that works for me is to stop eating. in fact I didn't eat for 5 days and felt the cold like I had never. I am always hot too ? I heard that I could be insensitive to gluten and thus that causes me to get hot, so the stopping eating may have cleared my gluten levels, im not sure. I would say to get tested for it but the tests are awful and very inaccurate, instead just cut it out for a month and see if there is a difference. also sage is good for women who sweat, pro banthine bromide tablets are good but with horrific side effects, i.e cant speak and have red eyes all day , even with eye drops. good luck

My daughter had a c-section 2 years ago, and she has put weight on, but is now starting to loose it. She asked to Dr if there was anything that could be done about the excess skin and his reply was loose weight, well won't that add to the excess skin? She has to wear a size bigger than needed in clothes to "tuck" the excess skin in! She's only 20! Someone must know what can be done

I have a similar problem, I became very large around my belly when I was pregnant and she was a big baby, I had an emergency c-section aswell but now have an overhang where the scar is and saggy skin and belly button. I'm 23 and plan on having another one but I'm so worried about how my stomachs will then look. It gets painful where the waist line of my trousers sits on my belly and I get in the top part of my stomach after wearing things like leggings from where they've sank into my belly. My partner isn't bothered by It but I'm so self confident about it, it's almost like I still have baby pouch but she's now 2 years old :( My gp sent me to physio and told me to do Pilates as my stomach muscles tore and needed to bring them together, which is now sorted, but the problem is the overhang :(

Hello, I was just wondering if your GPS has considered polycystic ovaries syndrome. I have suffered from this for 15 years and didn't put on excess weight until after child birth but have always suffered with excess hair and have just been put on metformin to try and help my symptoms also spironlactone can help with excess hair. It will not cure it but will hopefully help the symptoms. I only wish I could have been put on this when I was 20. I have never heard of cold weather causing excessive hair. I wish you luck with your daughter and hope she gets some answers soon.

Sounds like you have a tight foreskin. Many doctors will reccomend that you attempt to 'train' your foreskin, mainly by in a bath, pulling the foreskin back as far as is comfortable repeatedly for a while and keep this up for a couple of weeks to see if you can slowly stretch the foreskin and eventually allow you to comfortably pull back your foreskin. If you still have trouble, see a GP about it. Nowadays, circumcision is seen as a last resort.
