Hi there well done for your weight loss,i'm the same as you and have lost 11 stone in 8 months and now i'm in a size 16 to 18 close, which is good. I have applied through my Dr for help with getting the excess skin removed which is about 3 and a half stone. But sadly i have been turned down for NHS help due for there is no funding. I'm disabled and i have been told if i want it removed i will have to pay for it myself, sadly i don't have that kind of money. So sadly for me the excess skin has to stay. Good luck

Hi, I'm 19 and have 36 DD boobs, since having my son I went up to a 38 G. And since my boobs have come back down to a DD they are really sagging, when I lie down in bed they totally droop to the sides, not only do they droop but there is so much excess skin on them, when I where a bra all the excess skin crinkled up, it has already put a strain on my relationship because I won't be naked in front of him anymore. The same has happened with my stomach due to having an emergency C-section. I exercise & exercise but it sags, have lost all my baby weight but it still sags and I have some excess skin, is there anything I can do about this? I really want surgery but can't afford it. Its really making me feel depressed now, I have no self confidence what so ever x

I started gaining weight at 12 yrs old, but despite constant pleas for help to doctors, dietitians & specialists I was only diagnosed with PCOS at 36yrs old....by which time I was nearly 22 stone in weight. I then had a 3 year fight with the PCT to agree the funding for the gastric band surgery to loose the weight. Now 2 and a half years later I've lost 8.5 stone. What it has now left me with is a mass over excess skin, and a large overhang of stomach skin. I have arthritis in both knees, and have been told they won't give me replacements for at least another 15years. The way the excess skin overhangs makes a huge difference to the way I walk, and therefore the pain and difficulty in my arthritic knees...... yet the PCT have refused the funding for any operations to help with the excess skin removal. On your programme I've seen people sent for these skin removal operations, and on this site you say the NHS will pay for this but there might be a few years on a waiting list. So my question is why are some people given the help they need, while others like myself are not? What can I do in my situation..... I am desperate as this problem not only affects my self-esteem (which after years of obesity and bullying is so low anyway), and it affects my physical health and daily pain.

Hello, I've never done this before but this website has given me the courage to come forward and be open and honest like so many others have. I gave birth to my first child naturally via forceps in 2011. My daughter weighed 11.2lbs (over 5kg) and I've had an enormous amount of excess skin/apron/flap since. Even with my second pregnancy two years later I still had excess skin underneath my stomach when I was 9 months pregnant. I often get sores and aside from the way it looks my confidence has been shattered. I look 3 months pregnant and have done ever since. Normally I'm a size 12-14 but I buy size 20 plus tops/jumpers to hide the bulge. Does anyone else have this problem?

My daughter had a c-section 2 years ago, and she has put weight on, but is now starting to loose it. She asked to Dr if there was anything that could be done about the excess skin and his reply was loose weight, well won't that add to the excess skin? She has to wear a size bigger than needed in clothes to "tuck" the excess skin in! She's only 20! Someone must know what can be done

I have a similar problem, I became very large around my belly when I was pregnant and she was a big baby, I had an emergency c-section aswell but now have an overhang where the scar is and saggy skin and belly button. I'm 23 and plan on having another one but I'm so worried about how my stomachs will then look. It gets painful where the waist line of my trousers sits on my belly and I get in the top part of my stomach after wearing things like leggings from where they've sank into my belly. My partner isn't bothered by It but I'm so self confident about it, it's almost like I still have baby pouch but she's now 2 years old :( My gp sent me to physio and told me to do Pilates as my stomach muscles tore and needed to bring them together, which is now sorted, but the problem is the overhang :(

My name is claire and I'm 31 at my heaviest I was 27stone 8 pound I'm now 9 stone 11 but my doctor without viewing me under my clothes has said that I need to lose another stone and half to be put forward for any kind of excess skin removal surgery. I want to know if this is true because I believe the excess skin that surrounds my arms, stomach, thighs and especially pubis would have quite a considerable weight and am already displease with the way my ribs and collar bones pertrude. What are the guidelines for GPS to put forward a patient for skin removal surgery. My excess skin is making it difficult to exercise as my skin slaps so violently, I sweat so bad and get irritated in the folds between my thighs and pubis, when I go to the toilet I wee on myself as the excess skin gets in the way. Due to excessive washing to combat the many abscesses I have had on my upper inner thighs I suffer with Bv regularly. Losing the weight has been a loss in my self asteem and confidence. Should my Gp be helping me? Desperate

Firstly ccongratulationsfor losing your weight. They should be supporting you and realise that this is affecting your mental health and hindering your further weight loss because of the sores and embarracement you feel. Unfortunately you may have to bare all to your dr so they can see the sores. Good luck and congrats again for your loss.

Hello i wondered if you could give me any advice, like a few of the other posts i am suffering from sagging breasts since having my 2 children, I am 23 years old and you can visably see the stretches on my skin from where they have sagged, when i lie down they seem to have no firmness at all and alot of excess skin which makes them pull to either side of my body and face outwards, i have trouble even if i am wearing a bra as the excess skin forms little lines where they are lifted and scrunched together, i also seem to get small pus filled spots underneath them quite regulary due to the unexposed skin becoming a little sweaty and moist. I have to cover up properly and cannot wear low cut clothing or summery styled tops as i am so self concious about them, i would like to find out more about the costs and procedure of having them uplifted and the excess skin removed, i feel worse as even friends have made comments about them.

I have lost weight after having my two children and I am slowly getting to my ideal weight but I'm left with a lot of excess skin on my breasts, stomach and viganal area I have been to my doctors and the don't really seem to want to help as its not a medical problem but it is making me miserable and I wear clothes I don't like just to hide it. What can I do to try and get rid of this unwanted excess skin?

I'm Tsholo, I'm 20 years old and I've lost over 20 kilograms. even though I'm happy about my dramatic weight loss, it also caused my breast to look extremely saggy due to the excess skin that is left on them. I've been trying to find a good doctor in Johannesburg that can help with the removal of my excess skin and a breast lift. any information would be appreciated. thank you

Hi, could anyone help me with some advice. I have the same problems as most comments I have read. I went from a size 10 to size 20 after I had my son. It took me 3-4 years to lose weight and now I am left with excess skin iv been going to the gym for 5 years it helps to keep the weight off but I still have excess skin on my belly thighs and arms. Has anyone been successful at getting surgery on the NHS? If so how long did you have to wait? Iv kept the weigh off for 5years now but can no longer live with the saggy skin. I'd go private but just can not afford it.

I'm 33 years old and after been overweight all my life i managed to lose 13 stone without medical help. I have been left with excess skin, i am unable to afford to go private and refused to be refered for nhs by my doctor. the affect on my life is huge, i am so ashamed and embarrassed by it that i cannot have a relationship with someone, for me i feel it unfair that i could have had a gastric bypass paid for, but chose to go it alone and am still left feeling fat because of excess skin.

I am 50 years old over the last 2 years appro I have lost 7.5 stones in weight. I did this by changing my diet, a lot more exercise and a bit of help from my Doc with some medication to keep me going. I have about 3 stone more to loose. I have horrible disgusting excess skin now. How am I going to get rid of the excess skin. I have contacted my local private hospital but their costs are way out of my reach. I am a single parent of 2 young men who are studying so although pleased with my weight loss are not in a position to help. Any suggestions?

I also have a bit of excess skin hanging from my vagina, i was really worried about it. I plucked up the courage to tell my mum, and she literally told me the truth- it happens to alot of girls around puberty- the vagina 'grows' and changes shape, kinda matures and stuff. It's really easy to have it sorted, just go to your GP when you're ready and there's a simple procedure to get rid of the excess skin. It's a bit uncomfortable problem at times, i know! But seriously, it's a totaly normal, managable problem. :) xx (i'm 14)

During my pregnancy i gained 5 stone and a lot of stretch marks on my abs, thighs, backs of knees, buttocks, back, tops of arms and breasts.I have lost the weight and now i am left with excess skin that hangs from my abs and crepey unsightly skin everywhere else. I have suffered with annorexia and other serious problems since having the excess stretched skin. I want to have a normal stomach and dont want anyone to know about my problem so i found that being skinny was the only way of hiding my problem from others. I went to my doctor about the possibility of surgery and she wouldn't listen to me and didn't even take a look. I am so miserable living like this. How do i get a doctor to take me seriously?

My name is marie i would like to know where i can get my excess skin removed.I was having period problems for 2 years, my Dr told me it was nothing to worry about and said i was starting to go through the change. Then i became very poorly and was taken to hospital where i was told i had stage four cancer.i was given chemo therapy and with in 6 months i lost eleven stone, I had a hystarectomy which has left me with a horrible shape.I now have about 3 and a half stone of excess skin. I will say now that i'm so very unhappy because of the way i look and it had destroyed my relationship and i angry for my Dr for not picking this up. Sadly the NHS has turned me down so i the only way now is i have to pay for it.Please can anyone help me.

HI,I feel for you all i'm in the same situation, I've lost 8 stone slowly in 2 and half years, I went from uk size 26/28 to a 14. I am happy with being a 14 but have so much excess skin on my tummy i need to tuck in into clothes and can't wear anything fitted needs to be baggy to hide the skin. I feel awful about myself. I'm still a bit heavier than i hoped it would be, but i'm thinking some of it could be the amount of excess skin i have. I work out in the gym and go to classes 3/4 times a week, plus i walk or cycle everywhere. I should be proud of what i have achieved but instead i feel i look worse now. I hate my body and hate my husband seeing me naked. Doctors have told me no amount of exercise will help, i need surgery.

Hi, I'm a 31 year old man, in the past 20 months I have changed my life for the better and I have so far lost 161lb... In January 2013 I weighed a massive 25.5 stone,,, today I weigh 14 stone, I'm fitter and slimmer than I've ever been and absolutly love going to the gym, in fact if I don't workout I get bored :) Thing is I have excess skin around my midriff, thighs and buttocks and although I'm extremely happy with my weight loss it's quite annoying that I now have to put up with the excess skin,,, I have tightened some if it up through eating the right food and constant exercise but I'm scared that the rest won't go and I'll be stuck with the skin forever,,, I can't afford the tummy tuck privately and doubt the NHS will pay so I'm asking for any advise or solution you could possibly offer.

if you have man boobs, join a gym and they will help you train to become slimmer. As you exercise you will replace the fat with muscle and won't be left with excess skin. If you simply stop eating that is when you are left with excess skin, because you are not building up muscle. In school I was quite obese with moobs - 22 stone. Now i go the gym and swim every day, go boxing twice a week, play football once a week and eat healthy. All the girls love me. I would not recommend going to get surgery, it is lazy, doesn't look good, costs loads of money and is not risk free.
