Hi there well done for your weight loss,i'm the same as you and have lost 11 stone in 8 months and now i'm in a size 16 to 18 close, which is good. I have applied through my Dr for help with getting the excess skin removed which is about 3 and a half stone. But sadly i have been turned down for NHS help due for there is no funding. I'm disabled and i have been told if i want it removed i will have to pay for it myself, sadly i don't have that kind of money. So sadly for me the excess skin has to stay. Good luck

Hi I have had weight loss surgery and lost 9 stone 9lb's, however since losing the weight, I now have excess skin on my stomach and due to weight loss on my breasts they are very saggy and to add insult to injury have inverted nipples which seem to have got worse since the weight loss, I am unsure whether or not to apply to my GP as I don't know if the NHS would allow this.

Hi, I'm 19 and have 36 DD boobs, since having my son I went up to a 38 G. And since my boobs have come back down to a DD they are really sagging, when I lie down in bed they totally droop to the sides, not only do they droop but there is so much excess skin on them, when I where a bra all the excess skin crinkled up, it has already put a strain on my relationship because I won't be naked in front of him anymore. The same has happened with my stomach due to having an emergency C-section. I exercise & exercise but it sags, have lost all my baby weight but it still sags and I have some excess skin, is there anything I can do about this? I really want surgery but can't afford it. Its really making me feel depressed now, I have no self confidence what so ever x

I started gaining weight at 12 yrs old, but despite constant pleas for help to doctors, dietitians & specialists I was only diagnosed with PCOS at 36yrs old....by which time I was nearly 22 stone in weight. I then had a 3 year fight with the PCT to agree the funding for the gastric band surgery to loose the weight. Now 2 and a half years later I've lost 8.5 stone. What it has now left me with is a mass over excess skin, and a large overhang of stomach skin. I have arthritis in both knees, and have been told they won't give me replacements for at least another 15years. The way the excess skin overhangs makes a huge difference to the way I walk, and therefore the pain and difficulty in my arthritic knees...... yet the PCT have refused the funding for any operations to help with the excess skin removal. On your programme I've seen people sent for these skin removal operations, and on this site you say the NHS will pay for this but there might be a few years on a waiting list. So my question is why are some people given the help they need, while others like myself are not? What can I do in my situation..... I am desperate as this problem not only affects my self-esteem (which after years of obesity and bullying is so low anyway), and it affects my physical health and daily pain.

I am a 32 year old male, approximately 21st at 5'11. I would like to lose a significant amount of weight but I am concerned I will be left with a lot of excess skin. I don't think I would be in a position to afford a lot of corrective surgery and as part of my motivation to lose weight is appearance and confidence issues, I would not want to end up looking worse than I do now. Is there any way to tell if this is likely to be a problem. I have lost a large amount of weight before and had no problems, but that was some years ago.

It gets me down every day and i am finding myself digging hairs out with the tweezers before they have even broken the skin, consiquently causing scars. Please help.

I think you should speak to your doctor and see a specialist. I have hirsutism and am being checked for various causes at the endocronolgy department. This is a serious condition caused by high levels of testosterone and other male hormones being produced in the body somewhere. Please get a blood test for your hormone levels. GL

Hi,I have excess face and body hair, stretch marks on thighs, chest and bust (although haven't been pregnant or had weight gain) and when I get down or tired, I get a shingles type illness. I have suffered from depression in the past and sometimes suffer from fatigue. I have had tests for PCOS and results were negative. I have been prescribed Vaniqa for hair and anti depressants for shingles. The excess hair and ugly stretch marks get me really down. Are there any other tests I could have?

I have the same problem. My facial hair is growing very quickly and everyday more, specially in my chin. Mines are blond/ginger and very thick so laser does not work on them.I tried electrolisys but is very painful and leave marks plus hairs grow back again. My doctor has prescribed me vaniqa which I been using for more than 3 month morning and night but doesn't work so much. I hate sunny days and direct light cos you can see them even more. Makeup does not cover them as I wish.I don't let anyone touch my face as the hairs are very thick, Is like touching a man's beard. Waxing is very painful and leave my face is all scared. I have 8 pairs of tweezers around the house, my bag and at work and a massive enlarger mirror!!! Feel like a woman like this is very difficult. HELP!

My daughter had a c-section 2 years ago, and she has put weight on, but is now starting to loose it. She asked to Dr if there was anything that could be done about the excess skin and his reply was loose weight, well won't that add to the excess skin? She has to wear a size bigger than needed in clothes to "tuck" the excess skin in! She's only 20! Someone must know what can be done

I have a similar problem, I became very large around my belly when I was pregnant and she was a big baby, I had an emergency c-section aswell but now have an overhang where the scar is and saggy skin and belly button. I'm 23 and plan on having another one but I'm so worried about how my stomachs will then look. It gets painful where the waist line of my trousers sits on my belly and I get in the top part of my stomach after wearing things like leggings from where they've sank into my belly. My partner isn't bothered by It but I'm so self confident about it, it's almost like I still have baby pouch but she's now 2 years old :( My gp sent me to physio and told me to do Pilates as my stomach muscles tore and needed to bring them together, which is now sorted, but the problem is the overhang :(

I have halved my size in the last year and a half. I now have excess skin at the top of my arms, legs, and stomach etc. Due to my weight loss, I now have excess skin , I now have folds in my skin, which is extremely sore and painful. Can I get any help with my excess skin? I'm in more pain now due to rashes and sores in my folds of skin that I was before I started loosing my excess weight. I have gone from wearing a ladies size 28, to wearing 18 -20 and still continue on the right road.

Persist! I am 21 and also have PCOS. I am very fair hair luckily but have got excess slightly darker hair on my face, chest and stomach. This has totally knocked my confidence and prevented me from having relationships. I have no body confidence at all. However, it is wrong of your doctor to tell you there is nothing you can do. I am currently having laser treatment at a private clinic as the NHS will not fund it. So far it is working. As for the extra weight I am also struggling with this. I am now taking the pill dianette and feel it is helping slightly but unfortunately it seems for us PCOS girls it is just going to be harder to shift the extra weight. Good luck to you and your husband. Don't let PCOS get you down. Be positive and pro-active. KEEP ASKING YOUR DOCTOR!!

I have an mri booked in on 12th october for a possible prolactinoma my blood test revealed high levels of prolactin and my boobs also leak does anyone elses prolactin show higher when they are on a period or is it just me :(

I have lost weight after having my two children and I am slowly getting to my ideal weight but I'm left with a lot of excess skin on my breasts, stomach and viganal area I have been to my doctors and the don't really seem to want to help as its not a medical problem but it is making me miserable and I wear clothes I don't like just to hide it. What can I do to try and get rid of this unwanted excess skin?

Like 'A' I had excess facial and tummy hair but was told I didn't have PCOS. I was advised to lose weight so over the course of a year I lost 3 stone (I'm now 10 stone at 5'7''). I now only have 1 thick hair on my chin and none on my tummy. If you do have excess hair and are over weight and your doctor has said weight is an issue do listen to them!! I wish I'd done it years before, yes it was hard but not having to pluck and that horrible feeling of looking at your body and thinking 'gorilla' it was worth every step class!

I am 47 and I have gone through the Menopause ans put on 2 stone, I guess I should expect that!! But the hardest thing is I have put on another 3 stone after 2 spinal operations after an accident at work, and I still walk with crutches, therefore I am finding it really hard to exercise because of lack of ability to move too well! Is there Anything that I could do to help me loose the amount of excess weight I am carrying around? It is causing so much pain carrying around this excess weight, and it causes me to become so depressed.

I am 50 years old over the last 2 years appro I have lost 7.5 stones in weight. I did this by changing my diet, a lot more exercise and a bit of help from my Doc with some medication to keep me going. I have about 3 stone more to loose. I have horrible disgusting excess skin now. How am I going to get rid of the excess skin. I have contacted my local private hospital but their costs are way out of my reach. I am a single parent of 2 young men who are studying so although pleased with my weight loss are not in a position to help. Any suggestions?

I hate when my husband touches my stomach too... Absolutely hate it!!!! ... I am 30 years old and look disgusting I hate the way I look now. I weighed 210 when I graduated and with a couple of life changes within a year I was around 120 to 140 and never even acknowledged I was loosing weight so fast.... I felt suicidal when I was younger and got put on depression medicine but I just weened myself off of it... I will never see myself as skinny until I get this excess weight off of me. I do work out constantly.... 4 miles running then richard Simmons for 45 minutes or the eliptical weights and leg pumps for the excess skin on my legs....I am very hard on myself if I don't go every day.I never have had kids . I quit smoking in November of 2011, so now it has been worse on loosing weight ... With running I have to wear a wrap on my stomach because it hurts when I run with out the wrap. I did go see a doctor last year for the excess weight and they quoted my visit plus hospital stay at 12 thousand.... I am a military wife I will never be able to afford that so I guess I will be struggling with this until I die. I hope one day god will answer my prayer to be able to feel beautiful as a young woman.

Hi, could anyone help me with some advice. I have the same problems as most comments I have read. I went from a size 10 to size 20 after I had my son. It took me 3-4 years to lose weight and now I am left with excess skin iv been going to the gym for 5 years it helps to keep the weight off but I still have excess skin on my belly thighs and arms. Has anyone been successful at getting surgery on the NHS? If so how long did you have to wait? Iv kept the weigh off for 5years now but can no longer live with the saggy skin. I'd go private but just can not afford it.

My name is claire and I'm 31 at my heaviest I was 27stone 8 pound I'm now 9 stone 11 but my doctor without viewing me under my clothes has said that I need to lose another stone and half to be put forward for any kind of excess skin removal surgery. I want to know if this is true because I believe the excess skin that surrounds my arms, stomach, thighs and especially pubis would have quite a considerable weight and am already displease with the way my ribs and collar bones pertrude. What are the guidelines for GPS to put forward a patient for skin removal surgery. My excess skin is making it difficult to exercise as my skin slaps so violently, I sweat so bad and get irritated in the folds between my thighs and pubis, when I go to the toilet I wee on myself as the excess skin gets in the way. Due to excessive washing to combat the many abscesses I have had on my upper inner thighs I suffer with Bv regularly. Losing the weight has been a loss in my self asteem and confidence. Should my Gp be helping me? Desperate

Firstly ccongratulationsfor losing your weight. They should be supporting you and realise that this is affecting your mental health and hindering your further weight loss because of the sores and embarracement you feel. Unfortunately you may have to bare all to your dr so they can see the sores. Good luck and congrats again for your loss.

Hello, I was just wondering if your GPS has considered polycystic ovaries syndrome. I have suffered from this for 15 years and didn't put on excess weight until after child birth but have always suffered with excess hair and have just been put on metformin to try and help my symptoms also spironlactone can help with excess hair. It will not cure it but will hopefully help the symptoms. I only wish I could have been put on this when I was 20. I have never heard of cold weather causing excessive hair. I wish you luck with your daughter and hope she gets some answers soon.

Im 21 years of age with PCSO and have excess hair on my face, lower back, breasts and thighs. The hair on my thighs and ingrown hairs and boils. I am also over weight and struggling to lose it.I have tried clomide and metformin they didnt work they gave me bad migranes. I would love to get rid of the excess hair and have children but my doctors are just not doing anything about it because of me being over weight. Could you help me with getting treatments for these two annoying problems i have or give me some information on what treatments i can get. Thankyou i would really appreciate your help.

Hi, I WAS diagnosed with PCOS ten years ago. I also have all the side effects including weight gain and excess hair. While the weight is slowly starting to come under control it is the excess facial and body hair that is giving me huge grief. I have fair skin and very dark brown hair so it really shows up. Conventional hair removal is not very effective and i was going to do a course of laser hair removal but was told by the beautician it would not work because of the PCOS. Is this true?

i am a 28yrs old female & i suffer with excess hair. i have previously been tested for PCOS but do not have the condition. this effects my daily life & holds me up getting ready in the bathroom to go anywhere & therefore holds others up in my house. to shave to go swimming or to go out on the pull is a complete chore which takes forever.i am approx 4st overweight & TRYING to do something about it but when i have lost weight before the excess hair doesnt seem to have reduced. also when i was in the correct weight range for my height i had some excess body hair then.this knocks my confidence more than my weight does as i think extra weight on a woman would be more acceptable to a man than extra hair would. so i have no confidence in being intimate with a man.the other problem i have is ive looked into laser treatment which is supposed to work'best' with dark hair. well all my hair that i need removing isnt dark -im ginger/aurborn so some of the hair is that colour & some is dark. i havent got the money to spend on laser & esp when i dont know if it will treat all the hair & if it didnt it'd be a waste?? is it free on the nhs? given my hair colour i have pale skin so the hair shows easily. i can make such a mess of my skin trying to get rid of this hair cos im so determined to get rid of it when i know its there. i just want a solution!! please advise, thanks!

You don't always lose weight. With excess insulin comes weight gain. You should ask to be checked out - either way, you'll at least know how to proceed.
