I was told years ago that I had IBS many years ago and was prescribed Fibogel, which never worked but over the years increased my fibre intake which helped my constipation a lot. In the last 6years I was diagnosed with fibroids and polyps and been having excessive bleeding and sometimes excessive, debilitating pain. I contacted NHS Direct who advised I have further investigation done by camera as I have been under the care of UCH and they cannot see why I'm constantly receiving excess pain on the left hand side of my body. At first I wasn't sure what the pain was because it always came during or just after a period. My GP said having investigation with camera in a hospital would be inconclusive so wouldn't refer me. I'm very worried as my sister died of abdominal cancer in 2005. Please help!!

Hi, I'm 27 years old and have just been told by my doctor that I have cervical erosion (most likely caused by taking the pill). She's referred me to a specialist and has recommended that I have cervical cauterisation. I have the symptoms of cervical erosion i.e. post-coital bleeding and excessive discharge, but I also have quite severe pain during intercourse and also when I was examined by the doctor. Is this pain I'm having also a symptom of cervical erosion, and if so, will having my cervix cauterised fix not only the bleeding and discharge but also the pain?

Hi,i had treatment today because i have an ectropian and also had been bleeding for years after sex which had lately gotten worse aswell as me having 3 smears and not getting a reading back but later learned this was because the nurse performing my smears at the gp werent scraping enough so they also did a smear before my cauterisation today. Aswell as having the cervix cauterised today they advised me to go on a progesterone only pill as ive been on microgynon for years and apparently the oestrogen can cause the erosion to happen. Apparently its very common. They told me the cauterisation along with changing my pill should stop the bleeding and discomfort during sex aswell as discharge as the cauterisation toughens the erosion. I also work with a girl who i found out has the same thing and she was telling me she changed her pill to a progesterone only pill and now has no problems. No cauterisation needed because she may have caught it early on. I was dreading having the cauterisation as i thought it would hurt but it was fine. Uncomfortable but not painful. Hope this helps : ) x

I had my menopause at 39, had 10 years of HRT which did nothing and from 39 to 58 sweated uncontrollably until I could stand it no longer. Last August, my GP again prescribed HRT and I have not stopped bleeding very heavily since. In March I had a hysteroscope and all was normal although I was and am still bleeding very heavily. I have no break at all from bleeding. I am exhausted and really can't put up with this situation any longer. The first HRT stopped the sweats but I changed to another to stop the bleeding. The bleeding continues and the sweats have come back. Please help!

I had the implant put in last year (I'm eighteen and had it to sort out my generally heavy period) after a couple of months I noticed a significant differenence in my periods. They became more regular as in I would have one every other week, and they became heavier than they had been before. I went back to my doctor and had the implant removed after just one year, they were hesitant because they insisted that the implants cost the government a lot of money. Since then my periods have gone back to the way they were before, on time however they remain heavy. I believe it's just the implant.

I'm 36 and been having excessive discharge.. It's like I've wet my pants... I've also had sharp pains which then go into a dull ache and sometimes the right side of my vagina (the outer section) will became swollen, I also experience some bleeding (spotting) which is bright red in colour... It seems to happen not long after a period but not every month... Can be months between before it happens but it's also after I've had a period... Any ideas what is happening???

Hi, I had my first mirena coil fitted on 28/11/12 and ever since I have been bleeding, only small amounts, but constant. in january the bleeding started to get heavier so i went back to the sexual health clinic for swabs and it turned out that i had thrush and bacterial vaginosis so i completed the medications for these. this stopped my bleeding for about 3 days. then i started bleeding again very lightly. do you think it will stop by the 6th month mark on its own? or will i have to go back to have it removed?

My symptoms have included: excessive discharge, pain during intercouse, excessive heavy bleeding+clotting for 3 weeks on 1 week off, and bleeding after intercourse. I hope that this reassures all of you who have posted on here, as apparently all expected symptoms.

Hi. I got my lip pierced three days ago. I already have one on the other side that i have had for three years and it healed fine. This time I believe a blood vessel was hit and I've been having problems with it bleeding. Mostly at night when I'm sleeping. I read a lot of things online about excessive bleeding and I'm not to worried. The question i have is now there's a greyish string of something, dead skin i'm assuming, that came from the hole. I put pressure on it while it was bleeding so i think that's why it came out. I just want to know if it's a sign of infection or just dead skin? Also should i cute it off? Thank you. Also it has a ring not a stud in it. And I brush my teeth twice a day and use sea salt rinse everytime I eat or smoke.

The problem with terms like "excessive masturbation" is how to define them? If we pick an arbitrary number out of the air, then what shall it be? 4-5 times a week or 4-5 times a day? Such terms are subjective judgmental terms that have no objective rational basis. However, if we can objectively identify some indications of harm, then we can say that ANY behavior is harmful. With masturbation, if you are rubbing yourself raw to the point of bleeding, then that would be excessive. Or, if you are masturbating in inappropriate places, or if masturbating is disrupting your other relationships or social responsibilities, then it would be excessive. But if none of these things are happening, then there is nothing wrong with 4-5 times a day. You will NOT make yourself infertile and it will NOT make it more difficult for you to ejaculate.

I am unsure of whether I have Haemorrhoids but I have what feel like small skin tags around my anus. Also, after I pass a stool I bleed heavily, the blood doesn't appear to be coming from my anus but just behind it, and it tends to start bleeding after I wipe. I don't think the bleeding is caused by excessive or rough wiping as there is far to much blood. I've have only experienced these symptoms over the last 2 days but I am worried and too embarrassed to see my GP, please help.

I'm 16 years old and have irregular, excessive vaginal bleeding. Before, i have bled for as long as 13 weeks continually, although lately, it is usual to bleed for 3-5 weeks. this was causing me to be exhausted, pale and feel weak alot of the time. My GP prescribed the mini-pill Cerazette (Desogestrel), and doesn't think i am anaemic. The pill has done little, other than induce all the negative effects (hormones, weight gain, bloatedness, etc) i have been on the pill for around 2 months, and have been bleeding for 3 weeks already. please help?

I have had irregular periods, bleeding in between periods, not knowing if I am going to bleed from day to day I can't tell you how many pairs of underwear have been ruined! I have tried to see if there are any patterns to it and I think it happens when I'm feeling stressed or anxious but my doctor said it's usually the opposite??? I have had a colposcopy and soooooo many smear tests I honsetly don't know where to turn next. I do worry that it might be hiding something more serious especially since I seem to be getting other symptoms in that region now. If anyone has any other suggestions please help. By the way, good luck with your baby plans, you are not greedy!

I have this problem too! I was offered cauterisation, but am not keen as the consultant said everything looks healthy! I'd love to know what causes this as it's very inconvenient and putting me off sex (much to my husbands frustration!).

hi i was on the jab and had no periods but i did have problems with weight, mood and skin. i was also put onto pill which gave me very irregular cycles. i would suggest you try another form of cotraception.

I had a similar situation as yours. Normally am 26 days cycle and 2-3days into bleeding. Suddenly everything changed, started having heavy bleeding and very painful. I had to use tampoon and pad at the same time and within an hour i have to change. I went to my GP and referred to a gynaecologist and detected i've got fibroids and have been offered to have the Mirina implant which has helped a lot with the bleeding and the pain. I was also on Tranexamic acid which helps with the bleeding. And because i was bleeding so much i was birder line anaemic and was put on iron tablets. Please as your GP to refer you to a gynae and get it sorted. All the best.

i do, i eat plenty of whole meal and fibre based cereal... still hasnt solved the problem... i also just got out on the ER (emergency room) at hospital for excessive bleeding from my behind. it was all over my bathroom and kitchen just constant flowing until it got to the point where i was too dizzy to stand... they just say it was tramua..? im lost

are you bleeding actually *during* sex? or afterwards? either way you need to go and get checked out. chlamydia will cause bleeding and pain after sex. if you're bleeding during sex then it sounds like he's tearing you somewhere which isnt good - ask the doctor to give you an internal exam to check everything is okay.

first of all calm down. what do you mean 'bleeding'? do you mean bleeding in between periods? that the bleeding *is* your period? are you losing a lot of blood? what else is going on?

You should definately see your GP. You may need to see a gynaecologist for further investigation. Any abnormal bleeding should be checked out. Lots of things to consider. Are you on the pill? It can cause breakthrough bleeding. Are you up to date with your smear tests? Polyps can cause bleeding. Please go to your doctor and try not to worry.

my story, ive had rectal bleeding from the anus,on and off for 17 years, also know i have piles,as ive seen them on many occassions,,especially if i get diarroah which often makes them prolapse, and they then need pushing in with my finger, ive never been officially told my bleeding is from these piles, but i would assume it is,after such a long time with this problem, also the doc saying significant bleeding from the anus, rarely is a sign of cancer, has helped ease any doubt i might have,im 47 btw,,one other thing, the bleeding has always bee seperate from the stool

I have been on the Depo Injection for 1year now. In the beginning I had no bleeding at all however, over the past 9 months I have had irregular bleeding and an unusual brown discharge. I have also been bleeding after sex however usually only after climax. Even if it is not penetrative sex. Sex can also be painful. I have had an STI check which is all clear. Although I have been to my GP many times, I do not seem to be getting anywhere! Help! Thanksx

Please do update - I have had the same experience, though I didn't find my GP very sympathetic or interesed on the two occasions i've seen them before - so I keep putting off going to see them. The hole has been there for about 3 years now and has been getting bigger; I have not and do not take drugs of any kind but it's the embarrassment associated with it that is scaring me. Does anyone know if there's a way just to see a specialist, bypassing the GP?

I'm a teenager and I suffer from excessive sweating in my arm pits which is really embarrasing and lowers my self esteem. I feel I am unable to play sports, wear certain clothes or do what I love doing such as performing on stage as my excessive armpit sweat stops me from doing so because it may cause people to laugh at me and bullying. I have tried using anhydrol forte which is a treatment for excessive sweating but it only works for about 5 days and as I have sensitive skin it is really painful when using it after a few days because I get rashes and it becomes really sore. I would love some help on how to cure this problem as it would really help my lifestyle. Thank you
