Hi, I am 36 and have just recently experienced excessive sweating. It only happens some evenings when I am sleeping. It can happen several times during the night, and is so bad that I am dripping wet and so is the sheets. The weird thing is, is when I wake up due to sweating, I stop sweating. What is this??? Why has it just started to happen & what can I do about it?? Any ideas? Thanks

I'm getting married next year and want to control my excessive sweating so it doesn't ruin my day. Is there anything that I can take to keep it under control just for the day? I have tried all of the antiperspirants and am really dreading sweating in front of all my guests. Any ideas please

Hi Natalie Have you tried Anhydrol Forte? Its a roll on topical treatment that I have used once a week at night for 5 years now, and it stops me sweating for the whole week. I didn't too sweat badly to start with, but I also recommended it to a friend who constantly sweated, and it changed his life. You cannot shave within 24 hours of using it, and it has to be applied lightly to just the armpit (and not on the skin around it to avoid irritation), but it has been a god send. Boots sells it. Hope that helps.

There is a medicated deo you can use called Driclor, I have used to help me reduce excessive sweating. It was prescriped by my doctor. I would speak to your local GP about it and see whether it is something that could help you

Show all answers for this question

I've read that propantheline bromide can help with excessive sweating but there is some debate about the effectiveness of this. I have been using driclor for the past 2 weeks and it is making my sweating worse and not better. My GP doesn't seem willing to prescribe this but surely it is worth giving it a go to see whether it has the desire effect. Please can you advise me.

Hi EB Over the past three years I have noticed an increase in bodily sweating. The most socially awkward aea is the top of my head which is bald. A warm day can set this into floods even without excessive exercise. I havent noticed if this is diet related. I would say that I am a little over weight (A stone or two). I also notice that the top of my head acn feel quite hot often and I also get some symptoms of facial flushing. Sweating can be excessive two on my back and armpits and all over to a degree. Social situations can be a trigger but the symptons can even happen when I am on my own. I am 49 and around 14 stone 5"9 I have mentioned it to my GP a couple of years ago. He tells me this can vary from person to person and that not a lot can be done about it. Excerise can lower stress and reduce symtons. Any advice would be appreciated. thank you

Is their any chance you can expand on these items, i am 44 years old and i have the same condition. It has been very difficult in getting my GP to understand my condition? Many thanks Wayne

Hello there, I am a 35 year old girl who is having massive problems with excessive sweating, I have suffered with this for most of my adult life. I have tried various deodrants specific to excessive sweating which initially did help a litle, but seem to have worn off. This problem does appear to be getting worse. I have visited my G.P and i did not find them hepful at all. This is seriuosly bothering me I have suffered with quite bad depression in the past but I mNged to deal with this with help from my G.P and medication. I am no longer taking medication but fear my excessive sweating may cause a relapse in my depression. I would be grateful if you could offer me any advice or any herbal rememdies that could help. Many thanks.

I'm a teenager and I suffer from excessive sweating in my arm pits which is really embarrasing and lowers my self esteem. I feel I am unable to play sports, wear certain clothes or do what I love doing such as performing on stage as my excessive armpit sweat stops me from doing so because it may cause people to laugh at me and bullying. I have tried using anhydrol forte which is a treatment for excessive sweating but it only works for about 5 days and as I have sensitive skin it is really painful when using it after a few days because I get rashes and it becomes really sore. I would love some help on how to cure this problem as it would really help my lifestyle. Thank you

Hello I haven't got a problem with sweating but I have read an article recently that said that Cypress essential oil is good for sweating. The lady in the article said it had reduced the amount of sweating her hands did. I also know someone who has seen a hypnotherapist about their excessive sweating and it has helped them deal with the anxiety about it. I hope this info helps. xx

Firstly, botox is not a practical solution to sweating but you can buy products like dricol from any chemist. This is an absolutely brilliant product and I am sure there are others like it. I only use it about once per week to once per fortnight and that is enough to completely stop me sweating. Please anyone who is suffering from excessive sweating just try this, you can buy it off the shelf at boots and it changed my life

I always suffereed with excessive sweating of my hands and feet. When i was 16 it got too much as i was really getting depressed about it. I was referred through to a specialist and i had surgery to 'cure' me! I had what is called s sympathectomy. This cut the sympathetic nerves in my chest to stop the excessive palm sweating. It has been amazing! I still suffer from sweaty feet, but its easier to manage that. There may be other procedures that could help other areas of the body, but i would recommend the surgery any day, it changed my life!!

I just wanted to mention that I have been a sufferer of excessive sweating for 30 years. I was offered botox injections about 10 years ago but I also have a fear of injections. Recently a product called Certain Dri - a 72 hour Roll on protection for excessive sweating was mentioned to me. I have been using this for a month now and from the first night of using it, its absolutely fantastic and I'm able to wear the tops I want to without hiding. It was a discovered by my sister-in-law and the distributor is DSE Healthcare Solutions.

I had excessive sweating under arms since puberty but in my 20's had 2 cerivcal sympathectomies and they were fantastic. However a side effect was excessive sweating on one side of my head and my back. I had botox recently and it helped the back this was on NHS, had botox privately for scalp - not great but I will try it again. I am interested in tying perpirex, have tried aluminum chloride but its too itchy. Have been using liquid glycopyrolate and it helps. It was prescribed by a dermatologist. Thanks to him for it.

Hi there. I know what you are going through. I have excessive feet sweating that i find really embarassing. It is so difficult to get rid of the odour. I jus feel like my life is over. I have used anhydrol been given medication for the sweating and nothing works.

I have had excessive sweating for as long as I can remember, it was worst on the palms of my hands, the sweat would literally drip off them. When I was 13 I had the endoscopic sympathectomy operation that was talked about on the show and since then my hands have been completely dry. The surgery changed my life! I have had no side effects and no excessive sweating elsewhere. The operation was extremely painful though as it involved puncturing both my lungs to reach the nerves. I had to stay in hospital for a week so although it was the best thing for me I would urge anyone else to think very carefully before considering surgery.

I have had an excessive sweating problem for about 3 years now, i never thought it was really a problem but as i got older it just got worst. I tried all of the antipersperants and roll on there is out there. I reacently went to my doctor an told her what was going on. I was fed up with it and was finding it was very stressful. I love to socialize and would but always found myself trying to hid and thinking that everyone was looking at me and my problems. I now use Certain Dri it is avalible in drug stores and you don't need a perscription for it ethier. I can finally start living my live the way i want and finally have complete control over this excessive sweating. I am very thankful that no on ever found out about my problem, i hid is very well and was never made fun of and i would recommand Certain Dri its the best!!!!!!!

My sweating is completely different from the comments above. Mine is excessive sweating from the hands, i can be cold, hot, worried, calm, it isn't my temperature that affects my hands sweating. They just sweat most of the time, actually dripping wet. I leave wet patches on whatever i touch. It completely gets me down and definately holds me back from doing Alot!

Hello, please help me! I am 21 years old and have had issues with excessive sweating for years. Within half hour of getting out of the shower, I will begin sweating all over. I am mostly effected by the facial sweating, with make-up or without, my face will shine within minutes of washing and progressively get worse throughout the day. If there is anything people have tried and found to work, please let me know. Without sounding too dramatic, this is seriously effecting my life, I am fed up of feeling so insecure and just want to feel confident in how I look. Please help, thank you.

Hi there, I also suffered for many years with excessive sweating, and found school and especially summer very difficult! Go to your doctor and ask to be referred to a dermatologist, if possible they can give you botox injections and for me it completely stopped my sweating!

I have excessive sweating under my armpits and on my face. I watched embarrasing bodies and im sure I heard one of the doctors saying something about a contraceptive pill that helps reduce the amount of sweating, or did i hear wrong? Can anyone help?
