Can anyone help me with a skin problem? I have VERY dry skin all over my body which is flaky and peels off all the time, and whenever I move I leave a cloud of 'dust'. I have had this since I was born, and it is really affecting my confidence. I never wear black clothes as they are always covered with flaky skin if I do. I have tried all sorts of cream, including aqueus cream, and bathing in balnium oils to no avail. It appears to get worse when I am under the weather and when it is cold. I drink lots of water, but this does not seem to help. The only time my skin improves is when I am on holiday in hot climates. I am now really fed up with living with this and so far have found nothing that helps.

I am 45 and have the same problem and mine gets worse in winter which I put down to the central heating. I have put humidifyers on rads in lounge and bedroom but I really suffer with the cold so heating is on full blast all winter and I know it doesn't help. I feel like a snow globe and fed up too and having to wash things after one wear just to get rid of the skin cells. I think it is diet and have tried evening primrose oil but that's just helped my nails grow. So going to try fish oil next

I have very painful ripped skin behind my ear, which becomes very dry and flaky, I dont know if its connected but I also have, what feels like, ripped skin along my bum crack, which stings alot and is very red. Please help if any one knows what this could be!

Hi there, I'm 16, never had intercourse, and I have had eczema in the past, a couple years ago eczema used to manifest its self during the winter on my joints such as arms and legs. However, recently it has gone away, but in my genital area, parts of my skin has started to become red, cracked, itchy, and on the sack, quite flaky. When the skin flakes off, the patch of skin swells slightly, goes red and some form of liquid is coming out as well, it's completely transparent, and not a lot comes out. Only a tiny amount in say, about 10 minutes, then it stops, and just becomes very itchy. I do masturbate daily, would it help if I stopped for a while, or if there's anything else I could try? Thanks

You need to talk to your doctor. They might refer you to a urologist or dermatologist. This certainly isn't normal and it sounds like it really bothers you so get it sorted! It might be embarrassing for a few minutes but that is FAR better than suffering for years!

I am 22 years old and when i was 17 i developed dry, red, itchy, flaky skin on my face after a family holiday to florida. A year ago I was diagnosed with contact dermatitis, but like others i do not know what i am allergic to. I was perscribed a steroid cream and emoliant, but after using these for a year my skin is still the same. I work as a nurse and the long days cause my skin to become even more dry and flaky and it just looks awful, even make up doesnt cover it! (I know its not my makeup that causes the problem as I have changed it numerous times!) any suggestions on other things i can try?? I hate the way it looks and really makes me self concious!

I have suffered from athletes foot almost all my life. I am now 41 years old. However I am confused as to what my condition actually is as I have a conflicting symptoms. My feet do not get hot, sweaty or smelly and the skin is never moist. I do not suffer from split skin between the toes either, although when I was much younger I did. The main symtoms that I have are extremely dry, cracked and flaky skin around the heels, ball of the foot and along the underside of the toes. I regularly remove alot of the dead skin using a pumey stone but then the skin becomes incredibly dry and cracks which is very painful. But if I apply any sort of moisteriser I find this encourages the skin to "bubble" and peel and flake off. I seem to have been in a never-ending cycle for the last 30 years! I also suffer from bunions. I have been to various GP's over the years but nothing that I have tried has ever helped. I find that when I use any sort of athletes foot treatment (spray or powder) all this seems to do is make the skin even dryer and more flaky. Help please!

I've had Psoriasis in my hair since I was a young child, I use selsun or polytar shampoo which you can buy over the counter but my doctor prescribed me bettamousse which is a steroid based mousse, this always clears it up straight away when its really bad.

My gran has suffered with eczema inside and just outside for many years. She has this constantly. They weep fluid from the inside and look very flaky and dry on the outside. They also look very painfully sore and gets a build up of flaky skin and dried fluid. She has this in both ears but no where else on her body. She has been to see the doctor many times but nothing has worked. She has tried drops, creams, lotions and antibotics due to the condition causing ear infections. She is getting nowhere with her gp and she's in her 70's and feels that she's being a nuicence keep going and has resided herself into thinking there is no cure. Can anyone please please help??

I have ichthyosis too. I think my skin is sensitive to the emollients the Dr's prescribed. As my skin itches and is dry and flaky all over. What has the dermatologist recommended for you?

I have an underactive thyroid and when I get out of the shower/bath my skin also appears like this (picture of uticaria)although I am not quite sure that this is uticaria? In addition my skin is really dry and flaky and lacking in moisture/collagen and makes me look older than I actually am. Is there something that I can take/do to improve/rid my skin of this nuisance. Thank you. I currently take 125mg each day of Levothyroxine.

Sounds like a fungal infection, a bit like dandruff or athlete's foot. I know it's nerve-wracking, but talk to your GP and he'll be able to help. It's not fun when such sensitive bits of you are so sore. Your GP will have seen it before and is trained to be helpful and supportive, and obviously to keep things confidential.

I have similar problems on my hands where they go very inflamed and a red rash, i went to the doctors and he prescribed me with some cream... i went when it was at its worst so it was a stronger cream than usual but within a few weeks it had cleared :) it still becomes like that sometimes when im stressed or run down according to the doctor but if i put the cream on it seems to control it quicker! hope it turns out ok!

Im 14 and i got this as well all you need to do it take of the flaky skin and then put cream on them once a day or more and in less than a week it will be gone

When you say excema? Is that medically proven or are you just talking about dry skin? If its the case of dry flaky skin, It may be that you penis is growing and building new skin which is not uncommon at 14. I recall being 14 myself and having very dry cracked skin on my penis while it was growing. My suggestion is if it is getting uncomfortable, go to the doctor. Also, many soaps are too harsh. the penis doesn't need soap, just warm water. I hope it helps.

Hi im 14 and on my left nipple some skin is a bit flaky and dry. My skin is very dry anyway, i was just wondering if is was anything or i just need to moisturise it more often. The only time that i do moisturise my whole body is when i get out the shower. Just a bit worried ??

Hi I'm 15 and get really dry flaky skin around my nose, and actually on my nose its not really dry, but there are all these peely bits... I have to pull all these bits of skin off cause they look horrible, but then that obviously makes it red and sore, and sometimes bleed a little, and on my actual nose the unsightly red patches are quite embarrassing and can ooze a bit. And now it is starting to spread to one of my cheeks and down towards my mouth. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be cause I dont want it taking over my whole face?! Please reply, I used to be the lucky one with nice skin, and now I have the worst skin out of all my friends, so I need to get rid of it NOW!

Hello I have been on roaccutane (isotretnion) for my acne for a month now and I am aware that the side effects are dry lips, dry skin etc. However my skin is extremely dry on my forearms and it is very itchy, red and flaky.. I was wondering if this could be eczema and is it normal that roaccutane could cause this?
