Don't be embarrassed, lots of young people have diabetes and it can be very easily treated. I would suggest going to the doctor and they will explain what you can do to control it. Being tested is very easy and don't be afraid to tell your mum and dad that you are worried. Supportive parents can mean the world when dealing with health concerns.

A week or so before my period, I have noticed many symptoms which I think could be the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome. I have always suffered from painful stomach cramps, back ache, and going from eating small amounts to eating lots for a few days. But recently I have had tender breasts, many headaches, and I'm having trouble with getting and staying asleep. Should I see a doctor straight away or record a diary of the symptoms, and affects first?

female 18. Hello, i think i may suffer from Endometriosis. I have recently started bleeding inbetween my periods and keep getting reacurring stomach ache. I saw a gneacologist back in december but i did not have this problem then and so was not diagnosed with anything. Is it possible these could be symptoms of chlamydia or does it sound more like the symptoms of edometriosis.

I am 48 and think I maybe suffering from perimenopause symptoms. I have a marena coil in situ so haven't had any periods for years so I cannot tell by the change in periods symptoms. I have occasional daytime sweats ( not night ) .I have had a particularly bad period of IBS symptoms too but the worse for me is the crashing fatigue. It comes on in an unexpected wave and I feel drugged and have to sleep but sleep does not relieve the symptoms and I wake the next day still really tired with aching muscles and no energy at all. This can last for a few days and then I feel the "wave of symptoms " lift and I feel normal again. I saw my GP a year ago who ran all sorts of blood tests and the only thing abnormal was my vitamin D levels ( only mildly ) so I started on supplements but to be honest the symptoms haven't gone away. I can hardly function at all. Does this sound like it could be down to the onset of the menopause and is there anything I can do or take to relieve the symptoms ? Many thanks

I also have a mirena coil in situ and my symptoms are exactly as you described. My blood tests too also showed all normal except serum vitamin D levels being insufficient. I feel so low at times I struggle to get up and get on with the day- my GP feels that antidepressants are needed but I still wonder if its perimenopause as Im 46 and lead a very busy life.Im going to explore natural oestrogen supplements to see if it makes a differene. x

hi im 46 have a mirena coil and i am going through exactly the same symptoms. After doing a lot of searching i am beginning to think that it may all be down to the coil itself and i am now seriously thinking about having it removed. The last time i felt like me was when i left my first coil in place for 3 months past its removal date. My weight dropped and i generally felt good.

Sarah, your body is different to everyone else's. therefore your symptoms, Particularly with Lyme, are going to show slight differences from others. You are extremely lucky that your doctor had recognised the symptoms. Two weeks of antibiotics is insufficient for a cure. Keep vigilant for any odd health symptoms.

It's possible to have endometriosis and not to have symptoms from it. Some women have extreme pain etc but some may not even know they have it because it could be very mild or in a place that doesn't bother you. If you have no symptoms and it's not preventing you from conceiving then don't worry about it as mild endo with no symptoms is actually quite common!

hi. i have been told that i have ibs as have the usual symptoms of constipation etc. what worries me most is the pain i am getting in back and over my shoulder blades and i feel like i am having heart problems the pain is so bad!! are these also symptoms of ibs? as i am very worried. mentioned to my gp but he seems to think it all to do with ibs symptoms??? help!!

Hi, I have all the symptoms in these case histories and more. I've had a CT scan, 2 cystoscopies, blood tests for PSAs, urine tests, 2 internal prostate checks and several courses of anti-biotics. All the tests said everything was OK. Originally I was told that I had a urine infection, then it was cystitis and now I am told I have prostatitis. I am told to take painkillers as and when needed to combat any pain associated with all of my symptoms. The thing that depresses me is the fact that the medical profession doesn't have the faintest idea what causes the symptoms or have any idea how to cure them as I was told this by my urologist. Another thing is that no two people seem to have the same set of symptoms - of which there are many - and no two days are the same. I wake wondering what combination of symptoms I am going to have that day. Another thing I've noticed is the age range of people on this board who are suffering these symptoms, showing that it's not an just 'an old man's problem' So it seems that the snswer is - there is no answer! We're stuck with it. Sorry to finish on a downer but if anyone out there has any tips how to manage these symptoms, please post them here.

Hi I have had chronic non Bacterial prostatities for 18 years , went through everything and finally 1 month ago I cam across a study for using flower pollen extract to treat prostatities on the same day I got some and in 3 week I started to see the impact it is amazing , you should take it for 3 month in fact I do not mind taking it for ever, try it and give it at least 3 weeks, the dosage is 379 mg per day

I have a tiny - pin prick - size hole in my septum and have developed severe anxiety because I feel that it is causing all my nsal symptoms: dryness, inflammation, crusting and so on. I have seem several consultants all of whome say that a how this size will not cause these symptoms and that I should seek help with the mental health issue. I actually find it hard to believe that my symptoms are not caused by this because when I shine a torch up my nose I think it looks bad. I hate sinus rinses because they seem to irritate me and I am struggling to find anything to help me manage the symptoms.

Hi, I was diagnosed with IBS in 2004 but the symptoms still persisted. In 2005 I collapsed with severe stomach pain. I was told by my Doctors that there was a chance that I could have Coeliacs Disease - Wheat & Gluten Intolerance. The symptoms of Coeliacs Disease are exactly the same as the symptoms of IBS. I would recommend to try eliminate Wheat & Gluten (bread, pasta, cakes, biscuits) out of your diet to see if it eliminates some of symptoms. I hope this helps for some of you!

Hi, i was sent for an endoscopy last summer as my iron levels were low, at the clinic they found i had a hiatus hernia, then a couple of weeks later they recalled me to tell me i had coeliacs disease but needed a blood test to verify it. i started on a wheat gluten free diet the next day, while i waited for my GP to contact me but this never happened, i eventually had the blood test 5 months after starting the diet and it was negative so went back to eating normal foods now i'm back to square one, i've now been told if your on a gluten free diet the blood test will show up negative is this true. i actually felt really well on the diet i had no acid even though i have a hiatus hernia and no stomach pain or nausea and my doctors dont seem interested..i would like to know weather i have this disease or not.i do have other problems.(diverticulitis and under active thyroid). i just want to get my life in order..

Yes this is possible! Go to the chemist explain your symptoms to the pharmacist, take your boyfriend (if he can't go ask for two pills explain why) and both of you get a anti thrush pill take at the same time and don't have intercourse for a week. This might help it has helped me, men don't have the symptoms as we have usually they are asymptomatic If this doesn't help go to your local gum clinic and discuss your symptoms with them. Best wishes.

I went to my doctor and whilst I was waiting I had 2 blood clots Very big ones, and i was scaned they said i lost my baby, but i am still having all my symptoms but my hormone levels dropped rather than doubled so i did lose my baby. like i said im still having the symptoms but I know from last time all the symptoms stop straight away. so i am very confused. Thankss everyyone xx

I am just getting over 'flu like' symptoms, although I do think it was just a bad cold...however I do agree it's quite confusing as people have noted different levels of symptoms. For example my pregnant friend and her 3 children have all had confirmed swine flu (caught from school)- and all suffered with different symptoms. They are all fine now and have likened it to a really bad cold. So my advice is be prepared but don't panic.

I am 47 years and in the past 1 1/2years I have been diagnosed with Rheumatiod Arthristis, which was then poo poohed by the next consultant who thought I may have Fibromyalgia. Since then I have been treated for this condition with little effect. Watching your programme last night I believe I may have the same symptoms as someone who is perimenopausle. Can you post these symptoms on your website, including what the lady said who had problems with her hands please. I'm out of my mind with these symptoms and would appreciate all the info you can give me. Thanks very much

I am 22 years old and have a toddler of 15 months. I have been suffering with PMDD since my periods started and it took over 1-2weeks of the month, but since I have had my baby it is now 3 weeks of the month that I am suffering severe symptoms. I have researched and scoured the Internet and found a website that suggested that I keep a menstrual diary as this will help you explain to your dr. what symptoms you have and when. After two months I took my diary to the dr. It was very clear that I was not having any symptoms the day after i started bleeding for 1 week and then the symptoms started again, he prescribed me anti-depressants I understand that these can relive some symptoms but not all and I really don't feel that taking anti-depressions is getting to the route of the problem. I want the PMDD dealt with not just some symptoms that it causes. I left feeling more depressed and tense than when I went in, it also made me feel quite hopeless, like there is no other option for me...? I am going to a family planning clinic, I am hoping they will be more sympathetic and understand more about PMS and PMDD.

I have suffered with most (actually all) of the above mentioned symptoms for most of my adult life. These symptoms begin around one week before my period begins and my default emotion is despair. Very often the tell-tale thoughts which occur at the start of these regular episodes are those which convince me that the only way I will gain respite from these destructive symptoms is to leave my husband of almost 23 years. I have three children aged 14, 11 and 5 and have displayed symptoms of post-natal depression with each of them. In a previous comment, however, the hereditary nature of PMDD was discussed and I can resonate with this entirely. I am due to visit the doctor on Wednesday to present him with my self-diagnosis. I really need to find a resolution to this issue as I am truly at the end of the line.

Hi Lindsay, I am 43 and have been experiencing these symptoms for about 18 months. Have been to my GP on many occasions to find that they just change the steroid cream to calm things down. One thing I have noticed is the symptoms appear either before or after my period. Using sanitary towels can also cause a flare up. I saw a gynaecologist who said it looked 'normal down there'. Redness, burning and swelling is not normal to me. It gets me down because I don't know when it will flare up and my husband is understanding because intercourse is painful and very uncomfortable. Reading up on the Internet, I believe these symptoms are related to a condition called vulvodynia. It seems they could last weeks, months or even more depressing, years. I had thrush before experiencing these vulvodynia symptoms due to the antibiotics I was on and it has gone downhill since then. when the symptoms are at their worst, even showering can be very uncomfortable. They say to try using cold damp flannel on the area to try and cool things down but have anyone tried sleeping with a flannel down there. You just feel lime you've wet yourself and that's unpleasant. I hope things settle for you soon because I know how unpleasant the symptoms are and it seems more common than I thought.

Hi I 've noticed a few people have been talking about having symptoms of hayfever/blocked nose/congestion etc all year round. I also have these symptoms but I have a condition known as Vasomotor rhinitis, essentially NONALLERGIC rhinitis. This is apparently fairly common and for most it is a real nuissance. Unlike allergic rhinitis symptoms are NOT caused by allergens. In the case of vasomotor rhinitis symptoms are triggered by enviromental irritants such as smoke, pollution, purfume, changes in temperature. For me it usually causes my nose to go red, swell, nasal passages dry out and nasal itching. I find it utterly embarrissing and often means I need to 'escape' if I am in the company of anyone until all swelling has gone- so it does significantly affect my life. Anyone with these symptoms may find it helpful to read up on NONALLERGIC rhinitis, if your symptoms seem to match any of the descriptions then make an appointment to see your doctor. They should refer you to have allergy tests done first to rule out the possibility of allergic rhinitis.

Hi. I think i have Nonallergic rhinitis. I have been to ENT who say there is NOTHING wrong. They are definately wrong. I have been tested for allergies, which all tests came back clear. And i don't seem to be allergic to anything as there is no rhyme or reason to my problem and nothing i do particularly seems to trigger it. The lining in my nostrel swells up and i can't stop sneezing, my nose just runs like a tap, them my eyes get sore and my throat also on some occassions. I can rarely get a nights sleep as it can be fine when i go to bed and as soon as i wake up and move it triggers and that's me. It is miserable when it starts up, and does stop me from being able to do things at times as all i do is sneeze and wipe my nose as its just constantly drips and soaks through tissues in no time at all. Aerosols are a definate trigger but other than night it just seems to flair up at any time and any place. Anti-histamines can help, but even the non-drowsy ones make me sleep, and if i have taken them on a regular basis for say a week when i have had a bad spell they stop working. i can go for long enough and my nose is fine and then it can be bad one day and fine the next, or can be bad for weeks.

I have been with my partner for around 6 months now and never had the symptoms before, but a week ago I had symptoms for Cystitus after a naughty week away, my pharmasist gave me some Cystitus treatment which seemed to do the trick now I don't got to the toilet as frequently, and it doesnt hurt, but still hurts inside during sex and I'm getting a thick and smelly discharge could this be Trichomoniasis and can it normally take 5 months before symptoms to arise? please help!
