For the past couple of years I have been experiencing pain on urination during my period and for up to a week afterwards. I have taken urine samples to my gp but they come back normal. Other symptoms include more frequent than normal urination and a burning pain but also a pain sort of in the area of my bladder. I am 34 years old with no children.

in advanced prostate cancer that has spread - the most difficult sympton is frequent urination that makes sleep IMPOSSIBLE & affects mood/quality of life. If the prostate was removed, would it relieve the symptom, or, is there anything else that can be done. Antibiotics no longer work.

there is always a chance of pregnancy if not on proper contraception. however i think the frequent urinationonly happens later in pregnancy when the baby is pushing down on the bladder. The stomach cramps could just be period pains. If you had a period after and used protection its unlikely you are pregnant but if you are worried you could take a test, there simple to do and there are plenty of cheep ones in shops. A few of my friends got a water infection after the first tiem they had sex, make sure you always go for a pee before and after sex to prevent this. Drink lots of water incase it could be a water infection starting as frequent urination is a sign. Another thing is if you didnt you protection there could be a sign of an STI. however i wouldnt worry too much if you used protection.

The frequent urination could be a bladder infection, all you need to do it go to the doctors and describe your symptoms if it is a bladder infections all they do is give you medication and its sorted within a week, if you came on your period you shouldn't be pregnant but if it's a short one, get a pregnancy test.

you can have chrons in any part of your body so i would get checked out properly before you make any decision bout leaving the army yet x

Hi. I have recently been diognosed with early signs of mild crohns. The only symptom that i had was vomiting. Every day for ten months..vomiting..after the first couple of months i was vomiting anything up to ten times aday everytime i ate or drank. No pain or aches other than thoses aches caused from being sick ie sholders aching slight headaches etc. No problems going to the toilet and it didnt seem that it was anything specific causing the sickness. . I had previously taken part in a crohns research test as my mum has crohns. My sister and i both had a capsual endoscopy..my results came back that there were ulcers in my small intestine..this was not to say it was crohns they said but could do further tests.. which i meant to look into but didnt get round to it.. afew months later i started to be sick daily..looking back on it i had been sick every now and then but at the time didnt think anything of it. After being referred to the gastroentology (may have misspelt that!) I had many tests common to looking for crohns.... throat endosopy, colonoscopy, barium meal, xrays, mri scan, ultra sound.. the endosopys were meant to pick up any signs of crohns especially in the first part of the large intestine i believe, where biopsys were taken but all the results came back clear. Eventually i had another capsule endoscopy and the results came back that i had crohns ulcets in my small intestine that were not picked up by any other tests. Ive gone a long way around telling you but i have found that the "standard" things about crohns that you hear are not the only signs of chrons..there are so many different symptoms and levels of severity. I would suggest you get referred to a specialist..and when you book in for the appointment , if you can,ask to see the specialist themselve and not one of their junior doctors. As good as the junior doctors are..the senior doctor will have a greater knowledge. If they send you for tests, ask also to have a capsual endoscopy, these take 3 radial type pictures a ssecond for 12 hours!! So the camera pretty much collects a video from top to almost bottom.. I hope you get sorted.. and i hope this many help you even if a little. If you get pushed aside slightly call the doctors secretary and pester pester pester! Call for cancellations if you can. I didnt like to make a pest of myself..but if id of pestered before i had of got further quicker. Either way you need to get it diagnosed and treated or dissmiss it. Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Sorry mate for that, I´m suffering from this too, try natural medicine I´m on it for several months, still with prostatitis but feeling much better.

Let's start with a background. I am a 22 year old, 120lb. American female with a history of chronic constipation since I was 16. An x-ray proved that my large intestine was completely full of fecal matter. I have been known to go several weeks without having a bowel movement. This was explained away as being due to major depressive disorder and anxiety, which I was diagnosed with the following year. I have been on Sertraline for 2 years. I also suffer from acid reflux, despite a fairly well balanced diet. I am not sexually active. Lately, I've gained quite a bit of weight for my size. I went from 110 lbs that I maintained for 6+ years to weighing 120 lbs, despite me exercising (this includes my job as a housekeeper) nearly every day of the week. Some other changes have occurred as well i.e. frequent urination, constant bloating, and very painful abdomen cramps after exercising. The cramps often leave me doubled over and moaning, and a bowel movement usually follows (but not always). I have always been an active person, involved in tennis, gymnastics and soccer throughout high school and running throughout college. I do not understand why I suddenly have such pain, since there has been no drastic daily activity change. The feces are not hard, or fatty, or dark or runny. They appear smooth and quite normal. The frequent urination has also become bothersome and interferes with my daily life. Most distressingly it causes me to wake up and use the restroom 5 or more times during an 8 hr. night. Quite a bit of urine does come out each time, even if I do not drink water. Lately my thirst has increased as well. I have considered ibs, diabetes, or getting older to be the culprit. Diabetes does not run in the family, and I do not eat excessive amounts of sweets, drink sugary drinks, or eat a lot of pastas, bread, or fruit. I do drink 1 cup of coffee daily, eat veggies, enjoy some dairy, and incorporate protein and fiber. If I am so healthy, what the hell is going on!?

I have a few concerns that I don't know if I should worry about or not. Please help me. -Painful Intercourse. Me and my boyfriend can't have sex because it hurts me so bad. It burns very bad. And it's gotten worse. I am not too dry and neither of us have any STDs. -Bleeding during Intercourse. I bled really bad a few times very randomly. One time it was just him fingering me. Two times after that was during sex. Not to rough or anything. Wasn't related to my period. -Painful Urination. When I pee it hurts. But it's not the urinating itself that hurts towards the end of my pee there's a needle sharp pain that comes from my vagina. Not every time but most of the time. -Bumps in vaginal canal. I don't know if this is normal or not. I've read that it is but also that it could be a concern. Both my boyfriend and I have felt bumps in my vaginal canal. They are decent sized bumps and are higher up in the canal. (We just discovered this recently which is why I'm worried) -Vaginal Discharge. since I was younger I've always had discharge. Don't know if it's normal or not, assuming it is. But lately it's a lot more and it has a sort of yellow tint and a strong odor. -Pain in ovaries. I have been having bad pressure pains near my ovaries. Sometimes it's sharp pain. -Frequent Urination. I have been peeing a lot! Like 5-10 times a day and that is not normal for me! I'm not sure if all these symptoms are related but all I can think of is cancer cancer cancer. And id like to get this out of my head. Should I be worried?

I would see my GP as soon as possible. You seem to have a lot going on and are very worried about it. Even just to put your mind at rest you should see someone...And don't be palmed off. Be assertive tell them all of your symptoms and ask lots of questions. No one should have to endure all of the discomfort you describe, but if you don't have it investigated you will just continue to worry. Please see your GP soon and let them put your mind at rest. Thoughts are with you.

Debbie i think if you prolapse is classed as servere it is different, uterine prolapses from what i have read seem to be more problamatic than cystocele, do you remember how yours was graded??? Mine has been deemed as moderate cystocele. I think i will try get a second opinion from a women consultant, maybe more sympathetic, as over time prolapses tend to over increase in size! Can i ask how if the results from your surgery have been worthwhile going through with it? Thanks for the comment Mandy, i dont see why you cant use the cones, as they are are used to strengthen the muscles i think. My physio seemed to think this weekend that i may have an over active bladder, as she thought my frequent urination very bad for just prolapse. Does anyone else really suffer with frequent urination from their cystoceles???

My husband has been having a difficult time ejaculating, a hard time keeping an erection, difficulty keeping a steady urine flow. He has to struggle pushing to urinate and the flow will stop and go, with the same struggle each time to restart the flow of urine. He has a few of the the symptoms as far as frequent night urination. I've heard a lot about the problems a prostate can cause with urination. ..but does it also cause the issues I've mentioned sexually

Here's what comes to my mind (I'm not a doctor but have had similar symptoms and been tested for various stuff)... Frequent urination, frequent infections- Have you been checked for diabetes? Dark, smelly urine- This could be bacterial vaginosis (if so, you just need antibiotics, but it can recur). It also sounds like your hormones are out of whack. Maybe the deppo isn't for you? I know that I personally have had weird reactions to hormonal contraceptives (sadly my reaction to my body's own hormones can be much worse!) I can relate to it all feeling like a mystery and like GPs never have time to listen to the whole picture. I know it sounds silly but stuff like getting 30 mins of walking a day and some sunlight has helped me most, even though I still have a lot of the symptoms you describe.

I have had night sweats for a year now, and disturbed sleep. I am 41 and believe it is peri menopausal symptoms, how can I stop these and get my sleep back? Also suffer mood swings and panic attacks and frequent urination..

I suffered with terrible period pains from the age of 12, I am now 42, I have had endometriosis since a very young age. All treatments failed so by the age of 30 I had a total hysterectomy TAH with both ovaries removed. I was told that this would cure the disease. I am now 42 and have under gone a further 10 operations to remove severe endo with obstruction of my Ureter ( as a result I suffer with severe IC and frequent / painful urination)unfortunately, endo had affected my life tremendously. I am a classically trained musician but yet to discover a normal working/family life! The pain is dreadful.I have now been diagosed with fibromayalgia ( apparently this has links with Endo)Perhaps I will be able to work in my next life? Is there anyone out there that has suffered so much?

Hiya I am a 32 year old woman and I have very excrutianting pains for the past 5 years, I under went a laparoscopy 3 years ago to be told there was nothing there and that I needed to see a psychiatric nurse as it all in my head, I am unable to have a relationship due to this. I decided to get a second opinion one I had moved and joined another doctors surgery, I explained all my problems, huge blood clots collapsing with the pain and the fact its now effecting my bowel, she put me for another hysterectomy to which they have now found widespread endometriosis and state they couldn't burn it off, they are trying to make me take the injections to which I dont want due to the side effects and for me to have a bit of a quality of life I have asked for a hysterectomy. They are not willing to help me at all and I am so tired of all the pain and fight to try and get what I need. So I can sympathise with what you are going through just wish the nhs would listen and understand what we have and go through and if they arnt willing to help what use are they? i even stated I do not want children and have been told it would be impossible for where the endometriosis is so where is the harm?

I was just watching your show and that young 18 year old girl that came on who had frequent urination was advised to "retrain" her bladder. As a medical student I just wanted to show my concern for that advice. Holding in urine or trying to retrain her bladder can cause serious aderse effects to the patient which may include infections and UTI's. The girl SHOULD have been advised to visit a Urologist as she may have abnomal increased renal blood flow or another renal abnormality. I don't think the right advice wa given and this young girl may now go on to think her condition is normal and go on to develop further complications.

My pee is normal colour.. light pale… apart from some of the mornings, 1st urine in the morning is bit dark coloured. AT work I go to loo very frequently, every hour, the amount of urination is normal, I don’t find any difficulty in urination. But I feel as if my blabbed gets filled quite quickly, I don’t feel any pain, but its just frustrating some times going for pee every now and then, during the day. I can sleep without going to toilet for 8 hrs at night but then 1st thing I do in the morning isgot to toilet as my bladder is so full. Is this normal! Can you please comment.

I have this, and writing this in the hope it will help others. I only got a diagnosis as I have private health insurance, all my doctor would do was keep doing urine tests which were always negative, and tell me to drink cranberry juice, the practice would not have referred me anywhere on the NHS, they only sent me to a specialist when I mentioned I had insurance, despite them knowning I was in terrible pain. My symptoms were awfull bladder pain, frequent urination and getting up during the night all the time. My whole life revolved around my bladder. If you dont have insurance and your doctor wont refer you to a specialist try the IC diet, I control my IC by drinking no fizzy drinks, avoiding most fruit and quiting the protein supplements I used for the sports that I do, by eliminating them I am fine. I think for alot of people diet is the key, with me it took 2 weeks to work but it did and now I am fine.

For the past 5 or 6 years I have had microscopic hematuria. I have constant low back pain and frequent trips to the bathroom. I also get a swollen belly. My doc sent me to a urologist who said I have a mass amount of blood and a few white cells in my urine. He did 2 cystoscopys and the first one there was a lesion. Could I have IC? He started me on Vesicare for the frequent trips to the bathroom. I have many other symptoms also

I am 24 and have been having painful urination for about 7 years now. When this all began I saw my GP who did tests. This sharp, stabbing like pain when passing urine would happen monthly and each time a MSU was completed with mixed results. After about 3 years of suffering I was sent to a urologist, nil found so a preventative course of antibiotics was started. I took a small dose of antibiotics every day for 2 years. I didn't want to stay on antibiotics for the rest of my life. So when I changed cities and spoke with a new GP, I was encouraged to stop my antibiotics. Since then I haven't had as many periods of painful urination however more recently it has started up again. I use the cystitis sachets, warm baths and hot water bottles to relief symptoms along with pain relief. However I have found I experience painful urination within a day or so following intercourse, and intercourse itself can be extremely painful. I am yet to go speak with my GP. I have been with my partner for the past 7.5 years and have been finding the thought of intercourse frightening due to the the thought of suffering afterwards. I have read around and ensure I go to the toilet Pre-intercourse, washing, urinating afterward, etc. but nothing seems to work. I need help as I am worried our relationship may suffer due to the symptoms I experience now following intercourse. Does anyone have any advice??

Try Waterfall D Manose - also called Sweetcure. Just Google it to find the website - it is refined in Yorkshire. Sweetcure is a white pure powder - a natural sugar that picks up the bacteria in the bladder and soothes the burning too. I had cystitis constantly but it stopped within 3 days of taking a teaspoon of Sweetcure daily in warm water. I still take a teaspoon at bedtime to keep cystitis at bay. Like you I had been prescribed antibiotics - but they gave me thrush so i was in constant discomfort. Sweetcure saved me - I wish doctors would prescribe it.

At 20 years old, 5 times a week might even be a bit low. Many 20 year old guys masturbate before going to sleep and many do it again when waking up. It's all good... You wont break it.

Hi Baz, did your Doctor/Urologist do the PSA tests because they didn't even offer or mention them to me before they even suspected Prostatitis. All I had was the DRE test which I'm sure triggered off other symptoms as well. Now that I have confirmed Chronic Prostatitis I asked about the PSA test and all I got was they wouldn't be worth doing because they would be high due to my chronic prostatitis!!! My symptoms are still numerous and vary from time to time: urinary frequency, urinary urgency, pain in the pelvic area aggravated by long term sitting, pain or discomfort during or after ejaculation, discomfort with aching pain radiating from the rectum, feeling of golf ball size mass in the pelvis or rectum, discomfort/pain in penis, supra pubic pain, pain between scrotum and anus radiating to tailbone, lower back pain, groin pain, pain during urination (disuria), frequent urination at night (nocturia), reduced stream, incomplete emptying of the bladder, hesitancy, discomfort or relief after bowel movement, clear discharge from the penis during difficult bowel movements. Secondary to the persisting symptoms, anxiety, depression, loss of self-esteem, loss of sex drive and social withdrawal can develop. Had antibiotics: Ciprofloxacin, Doxycycline and put on Flomaxtra. All didn't seem to work and made me feel worse; being light headed, nauseous and even blacking out on the odd occasion. No bacteria or blood has been found in the urine test. Just on pain killers and taking Saw Palmetto at the moment. I've had CP/CPPS (chronic prostatits, chronic pelvis pain syndrome) for 10 months now and my urologist mentioned he wants to do a Cystoscopy and prostate drainage for further investigations. Having to go part time at work due to symptoms, Damn this PROSTATITIS!

Hi Im 18 end when during urination my penis head is burning

I hope this can maybe help some of you, anyone who is sick of constantly having cystitis. Im 23 and i used to get it a few times a year. Last year it started getting worse and i started getting other symptoms too..IBS, pain during sex and I literally had to go to the loo all day every day. I spent so much time and money going to doctors and for ages I was indirectly told it was in my head. I became miserable and missed alot of work. I finally went in for keyhole surgery so they could investigate. I was told I had endometriosis caused by something called Interstitial Cystitis. They were able to remove the endometriosis but I.C. is not curable and just about managebale. I am researching it all myself to find things that work..I hav changed my diet so much which has helped a little but I am hunting for a doctor who will actually try and help me manage this. It's a tricky illness that effects people in different ways and though it has a huge effect on your life it isn't taaken very seriously. If you hav symptoms like mine (frequent urination, baldder discomfort, pain during sex, IBS, bloating, pelvic pain) speak to your doctor about IC and see if you can get checked for it. And please share your experiences with others. Because I constantly feel like Im going through this alone and it gets really hard sometimes. And if you find something that works then let us know. You're not alone going through it!
