I was diagnosed with genital warts last year and have had them frozen off. I've only had 2 small warts but I am concerned about the connection between genital warts and cervical cancer. Am I in more risk of getting cervical cancer as I've had genital warts?

im a man with genital warts what can i do to get them removed

Go and have a smear test done. I had genital warts and when I had my smear test done I had cervical abnormalities. It DOES NOT mean you have cancer, just that there could be some inflammation. I didn't have cancer, and the treatment was simple and painless. In Wales you can have a smear test done from 20, in England it is 25.

its a virus so unless medicine progresses amazingly, you're stuck with it. good news is though that your body should clear the virus in a couple of years so you wont have it any more. in the mean time you might want to have a chat with your doctor about smear tests. i have the wart virus and im happily married so its totally possible to find someone awesome. its actually pretty benign as STIs go as long as you keep up to date on your smear tests.

Hi I've had genital warts. If you can go to a clinic and get them assessed, they might not be genital warts. They could be something else normal. It's best to go and get them checked out and then at least you'll know what they are. If they are warts then you can get them treated easily. I found the best treatments to be cryo (freezing) or Podofillotoxin. Trust me though, go and get them diagnosed, it's the best way to know for sure.

My boyfriend has been told he has genital warts so I've to get checked out. I don't have any symptoms so will i have the hpv virus? What do they do to test for genital warts?

they will do a physical exam to see if they can find anything and then a smear test and take a swab that will have to be sent to a lab, you can contract the HPV virus which can carry the disease but doesnt generally mean you will see any warts but means you can give them to others, symptoms can take a long time to show so it doen not mean your boyfriend hasnt been faithful and he probably didnt know himself till lately, unfortunatly we all have a past and these things happen, try not to let it affect your relationship if you have contracted it ( and hopefully you have not) :) good luck

I am 39 weeks pregnant and since 30 weeks I had a recurring outbreak of genital warts , ( I had genital warts 7 years ago) it is my first out break in 7 years ! I noticed a wart below my boyfriend's scrotum. We've been together and have been sexually active for over 2 years. We were both prior to to our relationship. Neither of us has been in a situation where we would contract genital warts from anyone. But we have been having sex with each other for a while. Is it possible this is genital warts or just a regular wart? He tells me he's had it since he was very young (he's 19) and he hasn't worried about it because he's always had it. Comments are appreciated.

I have had genital warts and very stupidly had sexual intercourse my partner for 7months luckily hasnt caught them & probably has the virus i was discusted so didnt tel him either, the best thing to do is go to the sexual health clinic or to your gp they will give you cream or freeze them & try to aviod sexual contact as they can spread easily

The virus can be transferred by skin to skin contact, you dont have to have sex, but condoms help prevent transfer. However, if you're able to be intimate enough to have sex with someone, you should be able to discuss the consequences.

Hi. Im 17 and was diagnosed with Genital Warts at early 14. A few months ago i had Genital Warts treated. They were in a really awkward place. The area what is between the vaginal hole and ur anal. Well I had them frozen. 3 Days later i had sex. Ever since then my skin rips in that same place everytime. I dont know what to do. Iv tried leaving it for a period of time.

Hi am a 17 year old male and i think i have genital warts on my penis and testicles, i went to my local GP and was given cream to use, i used it for maybe two weeks then went to a sexual health clinic to check if i had any other std, which i thankfully don't, while i was there i was going to get a cream which only required one treatment and it would get rid of my genital warts, however the doctor that examined me said that i did not need it because i did not have genital warts and said they were cysts or growths, and told me not to use the cream given to me by my GP, i did as he said, so my question is should i trust the specialist or my GP? i have recently found out about fordyce spots and think that's would they could be if not genital warts, they seem to fit the description, look like white heads and am able to pop them, there is a lot of them also.

Hi, I've had genital warts before. If you've not had intercourse then it might not even be genital warts. The best thing to do is go to a GUM clinic with a friend or with your parents and get them properly diagnosed. You might find it's nothing. If they are genital warts it's nothing to worry about, you'll just have to get them treated and your immune system will eventually supress the virus.

I'm 17 years old and have just been diagnosed with genital warts on the left of my labia inside the vulva by a doctor from the GUM clinic my doctor told me it was just skin tags and completely normal as i have also been suffering from a bad thrush infection whitch can cause flair up off skin tags another doctor told me they was aswell but she was unsure so she asked for another doctors opinion on it and she said genital warts this is all so confusing as my mum does not think they are genital warts as they don't look like them and I don't really have any more choices than to use the cream and treat them as genital warts but its driving me mad not knowing for certain, I have also had the the vaccination against HPV genital warts in 2009 which protects you 90% against the infection ,could anyone please give me some advice on this as I just need to know 100% what I have :(

The vaccination against hpv causing cervical cancer is only for two types of HPV. There are many more types. The types that cause warts are not responsible for cervical cancer. I would think that the GUM clinic doctor is most likely correct given the amount of vaginas they have inspected.

hi, i have been checked at a gum clinic about a month ago and was in formed i had genital warts and bacterial vaginosis!! i know for sure that b.v has gone, but after using cream for genital warts and the warts disappear can the infection still be there? im really nervous about having sex again and maybe giving them genital warts?? but i dont know if i still have the infection. im too scared to get checked out again because last time it really hurt and made me bleed!!

i had sex once with no condom, and after i had it, small white bumps formed and is still there after a few months, they dont itch or in pain, but i am constantly worried that i have an std, i got checked out and they said it is nothing, but is it something, also does genital warts cause brain damage, and can they go away on their own. how do i know if i have an std? what is the difference between syphillis and genital warts, can genital warts cause other stds. I cant seem to focus, and i can only understand things by watching and not by hearing. i cant finish tasks, is this normal.

Hi... are you sexual?... These could be a genital warts. Genital warts can vanish and can come back. They need to be treated by a GP. Have a good luck at them and see what they look like, some warts like a bit like cauliflower florets.

my bf noticed three spots/bumps in the genital area. Got them looked at at a clinic, but the Dr wasn't sure what they were. He said they might be warts, although they don't have the typical appearance of warts. He also said that treatment wasn't strictly necessary because a) he wasn't sure they were warts anyway and b) even if they were they were very small, so I should only seek treatment if they get bigger. My question is if it is warts will it affect family planning or would my kids get it and whats the best way to test for genital warts

Go see a real doctor. The one one you went to should have done a biopsy and had an analysis. Wait till it gets bigger? I dunno but I would get a second or even third opinion.

very very rarely do mothers/fathers pass warts onto children during childbirth. They could be pearly penile papules which aren't contagious or an STI. it's just something weird men's bodies do

i have the same problem that all you guys have, i am 22 years old and this happen to me before 3 month and its not something natural but it comes from humano papiloma virus, have a lot of types like genital warts, pearly penile papules , i have, actually i can say i had caz i used one product with name Clabin Plus and its very effective to remove genital warts after 2 days they just gone. But when applying burn a little bit and also can irritate your skinn around the wart area, but when you applies you should cover the wart with duct tape to ensure not to come in contact with other area. Also have others product for genital warts like Condyline 25% its helpfull you can buy in Ebay or in pharmacies. MAke sure after you use those product to use antiirritation cream , or vaseline, those are more for genital warts which have strong chemicals be carefull when you use. Best wishes Adnan

    it doesnt hurt ?

yes hurt a little bit caz its strong medication , but the best way to get rid of genital warts its to go to dermatologist with liquid Nitrogen with freezing method its also very effective. But its not danger just dont worry about your warts, make sure to take good treatment

When I turned 14 I started masturbating I had never been with anyone before but after searching extensively online I was convinced I had genital warts. I am 17 now and had thought this for 3 years, thinking that I must have touched somebody's unwashed hand and then touched my private parts and that's how I got the disease. But while searching genital warts online for like the one hundredth time I found out I had PPP I was somewhat relieved but it wasn't life changing seeing as how genital warts are harmless also. Im just glade to know that it's something that naturally happens.

Hi there, Sophie. Genital Wars are very common amongst sexual active individuals - you'd be surprised. Caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), there are several subtypes of the virus with strains 6 & 11 causing 90% of Genital Warts. There is no HPV test for men unless visual symptoms occur - this probably means your boyfriend is a carrier of HPV. Genital Warts are not a health risk but can cause distress in many patients due to the stigma being attached to it, and also the fact being they're very contagious. Don't be embarrassed, just go to your local GUM clinic and they'll give you some treatment. Who knows, you might not even have warts. Better safe than sorry.

Hello. I've had sex 4 times with my partner who i have been with for over a year now. He told me he has genital warts, whereas he hasn't had any other sexual partners meaning the only way he could have got them is by being passed down from his mum at birth. (which i know is very rare) He wouldn't go to the doctors to get it checked out, nor would he tell anyone else about it. Even though he is certain he thinks thats what it is, im not too sure it is. We have used a condom everytime, but there is a lump at the bottom of his penis which it didn't cover. As far as i know i haven't had any warts or lumps at all, but i am still worried i might have the virus, but the warts aren't visible. Is there any checks i could do for them if the warts aren't visible? And is there anyway of checking if the lumps he has are actually genital warts? And could it be anything else? Thankyou!

Hi, I got diagnosed with genital warts last year and was completely distraught, I felt so disgusting and ashamed and couldn't stop crying. I tried lots of different creams but they didn't seem to help so I just gathered some courage and went to the local GUM clinic. I am SO glad I did, I got them frozen off with kryotherapy once a week for six weeks and they haven't come back. The freezing was only painful once and the rest of the times it was just uncomfortable but it is worth it. If you get genital warts you should really go and see you gynaecologist and get rid of them as soon as possible, you shouldn't suffer in silence. Genital warts are very common, you don't need to feel embaressed about it, there are people to help. I also quit smoking and try to eat as healthily as possible because my GP said that genital warts come back in most people who smoke so I went straight to Boots on the way home, I am terrified of getting the little horrible bumps back but I know that if I do I can get them frozen to death that same day :)

Kurtis, HPV is a virus so there is always a chance that the warts come back until the body has killed off the virus itself, which can take up to a couple of years or so depending on how good your immune system is. Quitting smoking and taking extra vitamins is said to help keep the warts away, especially the smoking. But yes, my warts are gone and hopefully they won't come back! I wish people spoke about sti's more, genital warts especially is so incredibly taboo and "disgusting", if more people knew about it and how common it is people wouldn't be so embaressed about going to the doctors.

If you think you have genital warts it is important to see a health care professional. HPV causes genital warts. HPV is also connected to cervical cancer although the strands that cause each are different. I have warts and have had precancerous cells on the inside and outside of my cervix. I had to have a little surgery to have them removed. Fortunately by the will of GOD I have not had the precancerous cells return. The warts on the other hand always come back even after having them removed by acid.

Hi, I have had genital warts about a year ago now and since then i have had the odd one which has been treated. However i am really concerned incase i have warts inside my vagina. I have noticed a few pinkish lumps inside but when i have been back previously to get checked they said i am all clear however i am really worried that they have been missed as when i first noticed i had genital warts and went the gum clinic they said i didnt have them when i actually did and ended up getting them frozen off. The warts i have had previously are a fleshy colour and dont look like warts. Is its normal to have pink bumps on your inside vagina tissue??
