I have been grinding my teeth now for two years also due to this have suffered constantly with cronic tention headaches. Both these I'm sure were sparked off from a break down I had two years ago. I'm taking Sertraline for depression and also amptripline for the constant headaches. The headaches most days on a scale of 1 to 10 are usually around the 7 to 10 mark. I wear a mouth guard every night. I am at my wits end

Hiya Sarah. I could have written your comment myself only I have been suffering for 4 years since my sister emigrated. Amitriptiline had no affect on me even after taking 50mg doses. I went back to my docs this week and he told me he couldn't do anything else to help me and to go for a walk in the park or do a dance class to relax! I have tried everything.Even paid out £500 for a chiropractor but with no luck.I am still searching for a cure for my headaches. It has a massive affect on my family and I hate that. It's very hard for people to realise how disabling this type of headache can be for the sufferer.I am at my wits end too. I can't imagine living the rest of my life with this. I hope you find relief soon.

hi i suffer from quite a lot of headaches at the moment and i am on amitripilin and also migraleve and also a nasal spray called sumatripan i think. i was taken into hospital last september they figured it out was to do with the nerves at the back of my eye as the pressure was so high and they where swollen because the hole where the nerves go through is very tight. they also wanted to try a lumbar puncture to see whether or not there was pressure in my brain as this could be the case as your doctor to refer you to a nurologist and to get a puncture if poss as could help

I am having problems with my nose. It always feels like its blocked (like I've got a cold) but I never get any other symptoms, I keep getting headaches around my sinus areas and am always coughing/hocking up flem - Yuck! I have never really noticed it until a few years ago and noticed I've been doing it for years. In the last few months the headaches are getting so bad I don't like to drive. My doctor has prescribe me a nasal spray and says its chronic sinusitis but I don't think it is, I think it could be a deviated septum (I broke my nose when I was 9/10) - Can anyone help?

hi i suffered a maxilla break 15 years ago and have since had sinusitis on a pretty much consitant basis i take 4-6 dose of antibiotics per year, it lasts for upto 10 weeks non stop, ive seen ent specialists and they have discovered that my septum has a deviation which doent allow the sinus to drain correctly. The headaches and pain behind the eyeys cheek none up to my ears and head are somtimes bearable but other times just make you want to butt a wall and knock yourself out. i have had several chest infection as a result and its just a night mare. The steroid sprays are only a tmp relief cos they will make it worse in the end, anti histamines dnt work, head over a boiling hot water filled with vicks or olbas oil sometimes works, anti infam drugs work to an extent, but so far im sorry to say you just got to put up wth it, believe me ive tried everything that i can get, and all th advice and docs have a different opinion, Best advice is keep blowing that nose, nt to hard, and keep away from anything than can irritate the sinus. no matter how off putting get up and clear all that yuk yellow green brown gunk from the back of the throat and nostrile. It may sound strange but cold conditions seem to suit better cos my nose then runs like a tap!!

Hi, I suffer very similar effects to yourself. Ive been getting headaches for years but recently they have been becoming a lot more frequent and persistent. Currently ive had a headache of sorts every day for the past 6 weeks. In this time I have been to my GP 4 times and still no referral to a nose ear + throat specialist. I have been prescribed 2 different nasal sprays, 2 types of anti histamine and anti biotics and although my nasal passge is abit clearer when using the headache persist. The GP had a look up my nose and noted my nasal passage was very narrow and that swelling was present and advised me that I was probably allergic to something. I would describe the pain on a good day similar to having a head cold around the bridge of my nose and on a bad day like somebody is screwing a nail into the bridge of my nose. Unfortunately I have not responded to any of the treatment as of yet and will continue to go to the GP until I am referred. This condition is severely affecting my life at the moment and cant believe that these long term headaches are normal.

Please talk to your mum about going to see a gynae. GP's tend to just say things are womens troubles, but you are suffering too much not to try and find out why. You could have cysts, polyps or even something like endometriosis to think of a few reasons. Best of luck.

I'm 31 a big build and have high blood pressure. I snore really loudly and hold my breath which as been observed by my partner. But what I'm worried about is that in that morning I wake up with headaches ,feeling really tired and my eye sight becomes disorientated all day. I've been to see a neurologist about the headaches and been prescibed topriamate which do work and I've been to the sleep clinic about the possibility of having sleep apnea. Which the clinic said I may have depending on the the oximeter readings. I'm more worried about the constant tiredness and eye disorientation. Are these symptoms connected to sleep apnea?

I can not really answer this, However, my partner also suffers high blood pressure and also complains of eye sight problems (seeing spots?) he is forever rubbing his eyes. He also suffers head aches and is always tired. However he doesn't snore or seem to suffer sleep apnea. Don't know if that is coincidence or if it has more to do with the blood pressure? And unsure if you are the same but my partner also has anger problems (which thankfully over the past few years I've been helping him to control better). I use quite a lot of garlic in my cooking as it is said to thin the blood, so it seems to help keep his blood pressure down. Maybe this would help you. If you happen upon an answer it would be a great help.

I became really ill, 10 months ago, and started to feel sick constantly and have really bad headaches. Then a few weeks later my glands started to swell. So I have been felling like this (feeling sick, having headaches and had swollen glands) for 10 months now. My doctor has just left it now as I have been tested a lot of times for many different things, refered to hospital and am on tablets to improve my head. However I became really ill again last friday and woke up the next morning to have two new bigger swollen glands and a swollen face. Any suggestions of what it could be, or to improve my symptoms.

I'm 24, I first started my periods at 13 they were always heavy, painful and were accompanied by bad headaches. After about 3 years of this my periods became very irregular and more heavy/painful. I did go to a gynocologist in my late teens who said just go on the pill. As I have a heart condition my options are limited with the pill but I have been on micronor for about 3 years now. While it did not regulate my periods it did make them a little better but they were still very irregular. However since about December they have been very heavy again (I used a tampon and pad and need to change them every 2hours or so or I leak. I am bleeding more than I'm not, I currently bleed for about 5-7 days and get 4-7 days break. I also am in alot of pain, headaches and cramps so much that I really feel I cannot go to work- being anything other than curled up has me nearly in tears. I am also very depressed just before I get one. Is anyone else experiencing this type og thing?

hi I have a lump on the back of my head and get constant headaches and shooting pain in the same place where the lump is. I have had the headaches for 3 years now and been to a gp twice. the first time I was told the headaches were due to stress, the second time I was told it was due to skeletal muscles problems in my head/neck.but neither gps, who gave very different diagnosis took any blood or did any tests. I still have really painful headaches and a lump and I don't know what to do, can anyone give me advice?

I've been suffering for a number of years with grinding my teeth. I agree it always seems worse when I'm stressed out. However, there seems times when I'm not and I still grind my teeth. Why??? I have chronic problems with the left side of my face/head with severe headaches being the worst symptom. Would the teeth grinding be a direct link to this. To add to this I'm aware that my left nostril has collapsed and again, will this be an other factor to these headaches. I've one of those headaches right at this moment and no painkillers help.

hey i collapse on 10/08/2011 and was in hospital for 2 nights it was due to my headaches that i collapsed plus the fact that my blood pressure dropped to low. Sometimes when i get theses headaches my head feels like it is twitching from the inside and then shoots down my spine causeing really sore back pain i now have been referred to a neurologist for this and i am really scared. Iam really scared because i have done some research on my symptoms and all i got back was that they were linked to MS now i am not one of those people who think that if they pinpoint a symptom to one condition that thats what the've got but honestly i am really scared now please help

I am 47 and have been suffering most of my adult life with headaches and often wake up with a migraine. I discovered my problem is caused by clenching jaws and grinding teeth (more so at night). I've tried mouth guards at night (although they protected my teeth, they didn't stop the headaches & I chew more). I had botox injections into jaw joint (v painful but helpful for 3 months.... only temporary). I had a breast reduction 2 years ago as I thought the weight of my breasts was causing neck tension resulting in headaches. Although happy I had it done, 2 years on, I'm still suffering so I'm more sure than ever, my problem is jaw clenching. I'm a very positive person and I'd love to know what I can do to help myself. I find having constant headaches, debilitating and have impacted on my everyday life and am also at my wits end.

I have terrible headaches and i was looking on here to seebif anyone else had that problem and if maybe it was related. I like a few others got it from scab picking about 3 years ago when i was pregnant, alsi had occasional nosebleeds. I havent seekee any help it seems fairly small but the headaches ughh!!

I have suffered headaches and a sore neck for maybe 15yrs but about 4years ago I started suffering varying degrees of dizziness and what i called fuggy brain, also the headaches increased in severity and didnt respond to normal Meds. I was terrified i had MS or a tumour and the symptoms were debilitating, exhausting and depressing. After CT scans and numerous doctors appointments, about a year ago I finally saw a neurologist who specialized in migraine. It took him 5minutes to prescribe me a low dose beta blocker called Cordilox to regulate vasal dilation for the 'migraines' he said I obviously suffered from, plus Naramig to deal with the pain of the headaches when they occurred. the Cordilox took about 8 weeks to kick in but the dizziness gradually subsided and hasn't returned. The headaches still occur and the Naramig is a godsend. I have a rubbish neck and it definitely aggravates the headaches, thus manipulation of the neck and thoracic area definitely helps alleviate and prevent the headaches, however it's the Meds that have given me back my life. Good luck to other dizziness sufferers - it's hell but there are options. My neurologist said that if this stuff didn't work there were other options too but I haven't required it.

I'm 14 a recently have been getting headaches when i masturbate. They start before orgasm and gradually get worse up to the point of ejaculation. It's a sharp pain at the lower base of my head/neck, they can go on for a few minutes or sometimes hours. I've looked on the internet and i think they maybe called cotial headaches. I really don't know what to do - i don't want to stop masturbating but im also too embarressed to go to the doctor. It's really getting me down, please help.

Yes it is true that can give you headaches, i was prescribed it a few years ago when i had an anal fissure after having my first child. I got terrible headaches from it but you are only supposed to use a tiny amount. I was referred to a specialist who was going to do a small operation to stretch the anus to prevent it splitting everytime i went to the toilet. I chickened out of the op though and it eventually healed on its own.

hi 16, bloating and headaches is completely normal during and before your period! your not alone in this. most girls/woman have different symptoms. im lucky because i dont bloat or get cramps. by my best mate becomes a bloated monster just before shes about to come on. dont let it worry you, its completely normal!!!

Could it possibly be an STI, after exhausting all other avenues I'm starting to think HPV, or something along those lines, also I never used to get headaches, now I have sore points at the top of my head and can't stand bright lights as this causes my headaches as well! Starring to feel someone what of a hypochondriac and before I met him I never stepped foot in a doctor's, was never ill or really suffered colds... immune system, white blood cell infection? Someone please suggest something

I have poly cycstic and was put on the pill at the age of 13. Last year i was suffering severe headaches. I was diagnosed with cerebral venous sinus thrombosis and this was caused by the pill. I advise all women who suffer severe headaches to get them checked out. This saved my life by visiting my GP

My daughter has had a lump on the back of her neck for about 8 months, it started about pea size but is now about an inch across. It moves and causes her quite alot of pain. she has recently been getting the most severe headaches too. she has a small lump growing on top of her head now too. she has been to the doctors numerous times, she was told it was probably a gland, then a cyst, she was given antibiotics and pain killers for her headaches but the lump is still the same? should we ask for a scan? quite worried about it now.

Hi, I recently got told that I suffer from severe chronic tension headaches, stress and a sleeping disorder. I kept on going to the doctors continuously, talking about my problems, having loads of tests and everything just came back negative, so he put me on anti-depression pills to make me sleep, which was then supposed to make my stress levels reduced. I used to get headaches around 30 times a day, varying in pain levels, and i'd get dizzy all of the time because the stress was so bad. My doctor wanted me to go to a stress management class, but I feel like a physco going. Also, i've recently just got a boyfriend, and since then my headaches aren't as bad - but i don't want to be too dependant on my boyfriend just because he helps me reduce my stress levels. Can someone help me please? I feel like i should go to some sort of therapy, i feel myself going crazy inside with stress and there is no medication that can help me!

What causes this?

I do suffer with very bad headaches and migraines....however have never really had trouble with my ears apart from a damaged ear drum many years ago after an accident. However since I had a bad cold seem to have had an inner ear infection for about a year. I was just starting to think it had gone when I went on a weekend away. As soon as I got off the plane 10 hours later I felt wobbly and have stayed that way ever since. My doctor really isn't interested and gave me pills to help with vertigo and nothing else. I already take tablets for my headaches, they do something to the blood vessels. I feel really confused about it all and whether these things are connected and what I can do about it. I do take antibiotics for my skin and don't know whether these affect my migraines. I feel helpless and don't know where to turn.

Hi, my hair has been coming out for just over a year after having nerve block injections in the back of my head trying to relieve constant headaches. Nobody will confirm this was the cause but it is certainly a huge coincidence! I've seen a dermatologist who says it's my age as I've just turned 40 and will stop soon! I don't know if it's linked to my headaches as they have been constant for 16 years. My head tingles and almost feels crawly and itchy, then it tingles in certain spots where the hair falls out. I'm really worried about this as it seems worse than ever and I want t to stop. I woud be grateful for any advice.

hey im 19 and iv given up on getting answers from my gp and need your help. iv had server headaches for about the last five years. iv been to the gp more times than i can remember i was told by one gp to not take pain killers and stop taking the pill and another said to take more pain killers and keep taking the pill. they finally sent me for a head ct and it came back abnormal saying i had narrow third and lateral ventricles. because i only had headaches and the odd vision problem they put it down to normality and that was that but im worried that it may be something more serious but dont want to go back to the gp as they just dont take me serious please help

Hi I have suffered with severe migrains for some time now and also had a bout of cluster headaches about four years ago. When I get a severe headache at night I got to bed looking normal but wake up in the morning with dark bruising on my cheek bones below my eyes and in really severe cases a brown mark between my eyebrows as well. It looks like I have been in a fight! I often get comments at work from colleagues asking if I have been in a fight. It does cause difficlt questions at times as I work with a large number of children. My doctor has no idea what it could be! Any ideas? It worries me that it comes when I have these bouts of severe headaches.
