I have a heart condition I was born with mine, I always got cheast pain the doctor told me its in my head, but I think it could be stress. You might be stressed just go to the doctor to see if anything different has changed in your cheast if not . Try to relaxe more with a book or bath and just chill for 10-15 mins. This might stop the pain. Hope I helped a little

I am nearly 15 and I have had a heart murmur since I was a baby. I have been experiencing chest pains on my left side but quite high up and feels like sharp stomach pains. They last for about 10 minutes at a time and I have a hot flush during. I've had about 5 in the space of a month and a half and I am currently stressed with exams etc at school. Any ideas? I'm not keen on visiting the doctor as I don't want to worry my family but if necessary then I will. Thanks

I'm the same. Apparently my heart murmur has gone but I've had chest pains recently. I wondered if it was related to my heart murmur. Unfortunately I haven't found out yet.

Hey,ive been recently diagnosed with a heart murmur.I have been told to stay away from stimulants such as food colouring :red and yellow mostly, and caffine. My pulse rate suddenly goes incredibly fast and i feel light headed and like im going to faint if I get hiccups. My mum was serioucly worried when she could feel my heart beat was very strong and very fast. I was just wondering if this kind of heart murmur might be dangerous to me?

I would like to whole-heartedly thank Embarrassing Bodies team for this episode. I have been backwards and forwards to various GPs for years with various health complaints; most recently I reported some severe breathlessness and have been wrongly treated for asthma, prescribed diazepam, and threatened with beta-blockers for 'panic attacks'. This show featured a young girl who suffers from a very loud heart murmur, and I recognised the same noise as a sound I hear after a bout of extreme stress or exertion. On Saturday I visited a GP at my local drop in clinic, and I indeed too suffer from a heart murmur, which may well be responsible for some of my health complaints. I am now extremely relieved and grateful to finally have some answers and I'm currently waiting on results of a chest xray which I was only given 'as a precaution' and a date for an echo to discover the severity of the murmur. Had it not been for Embarrassing Bodies, the murmur may well have never been detected and I may have spent years on wrongly prescribed medication. I never would have dreamt that I had a heart murmur in a million years and had it not been for this programme, neither would my GP!

Hi, I am the girl on who was in this episode with a heart murmur, i only just saw this comment. Really reassuring to know that someone else has the same problem! Glad to have helped in some way.

I am 15 years old and was born with a heart murmur. I'm told that I don't have it any more. But my mother says that my heart beats very loudly and I often have sharp pains in the left side of my chest lasting about only 45 seconds, during the pain I can barely breathe. Is this related to my murmur? And why am I feeling this chest pain?

I was diagnosed with aortic stenosis and endocarditis at the age of 7, I had an aortic valve replacement when I was 8. I am now 24 and obviously have now got a heart murmur. Most of the time I wouldn't even notice a difference in my beat but occasionally I get this rush of strong fast beats and it sometimes panics me and feels quite uncomfortable. I have been told this is normal for a murmur but worry that if something serious was to happen what signs would I need to look for? Also is dull aches through my left leg connected to my heart condition??

If you’re worried why not contact the show and have a proper consultation with one of our Dr’s? You can apply via the link on our home page.

My doctor heard a heart murmur 3 weeks ago, apparently I was first diagnosed with one when I was 4 years old but no doctor has ever said anything about one since I have been going to doctors myself. I am now 60 years old and have 3 children. I am waiting to see a cardiologist. I have Lupus SLE, Arthritis and problems bottom vertebrae in my spine, This heart murmur was found when I went to the doctor as I suddenly lost my hearing. I do get palpitations but they sound like a normal heart beat unless I am walking or doing something. I get slight chest pains at times and these could be at any time even when in bed. Is this anything to worry about? My doctor has worried me because he keeps insisting if I get chest pain to phone 999

Is it after you exercise? I had a really high heart one stage it was 140bpm then 170bpm and only every went down to 120bpm when resting along with the same symptoms as you, so I think you should get this checked at your doctor for any abnormalities. They picked up a quite and serious heart murmur which related to a much larger problem. I also had open heart surgery due to this, if anyone needs any help or questions about it.Thanks, tell me how it all goes.

I went to the doctors today and he found a heart murmur i keep fit i do lots of cycling and running daily i am really worried i am due to have a heart scan.

I also have asthma as well as a heart murmur. I don't always take my medication but last night I did take montelukast for asthma and had one of my most frightening hallucinations within 2 hours of taking the tablet. If anyone takes Prednisone in acute cases of asthma, many people find that they suffer very broken sleep, night sweats and hallucinations while they are taking it. I had a bad reaction to it the last time it was prescribed and have had hives ever since (4 years now!). But I didn't have asthma as a child and didn't know I had a heart murmur until 4 years ago yet have always suffered hallucinations.

I kept falling over, so saw my gp. He diagnosed a heart murmur (never knew I had one) which was causing the falls and said it was grade 2 and did a ecg that day. He asked me to come back later for another ecg. The nurse asked me if I have been stressed and said it did show something up on the ?sinus rythm and that the doctor would review. I never heard anything. Since then I have one episode of bad chest pain that was on and off for a day. Bloods came back fine.since then I have looked in to my family medical and my mother sister aunt and even my daughter have a heart murmur. My daughters caused vacant episodes and she was under the cardiologist as she's grown she's not had episodes for a long time. My auntie recently went to her gp who did a ecg and she ended up rushed to hospital having a replacement valve. Couldit be a genetic valve issue. Should I go back my gp hasn't really told me my results

I am 21 yo and I have had Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (severe) from birth until I was 16, when it was treated by cryogenising a part of my heart with probes inserted through veins in my legs. Now all I am left with is a weird p-wave on my ECGs, which may or may not qualify as a murmur. Both my sister and brother have heart murmurs. Not really relevant to the thread but MEDICINE IS AWESOME ! (:

Hi, I am the girl on who was in this episode with a heart murmur, i only just saw this comment. Really reassuring to know that someone else has the same problem! Glad to have helped in some way.

Hi I am 20 weeks pregnant and had a ecg trace yesterday which suggested prolonged QT (390/460 qt/qtc) My doctor says that he heard a heart murmur. I've always had palpitations just a couple now and again but more so during pregnancy and calcium vitamin D increase my palpitations so I don't take these suppliments. My GP has referred me to a cardiologist but the appointment is nearly a month away and I'm really scared of a sudden heart attack or something so sorry to be drastic but its true. Everyone's says take it easy but I have a disabled son so challenges are already placed for me day to day. Is it serious ??
