Hi Martina, The continuous heart burn can be due to several things such as over eating - try cutting down your portion sizes, eating fatty foods or eating late at night. The eggy (or sulphurous) burps you get are a sign that you are not digesting your food quickly enough (particularly meat), which means there's too much in your intestine, and it's beginning to ferment. The heat of the bath can also accelerate the process. Have a bath at least 4-6 hours after you have eaten. Hope that helps :)

I am having left testicle pain(at the back of the testicle) pain for more than a year now. I am 38 this year. I did go for physical checkup and scrotum ultrasound which all came out negative. I had quite a bad heartburn and lower abdominal pain 1 year ago where I went for endoscopy and colonoscopy. The Gastroentologist found two polyps at my rectum and removed it. Now I don't have stomach or lower abdominal pain except heartburn at times. But the left testicle and pelvic pain which started since a year ago with lower abdominal pain and heartburn is still there. Left testicle pain is more prominent especially when there is a sudden move even when I wear trousers or pants. The pain is more like a stinging pain. My PSA is negative and CT scan also came out negative. Doctors said it could be a nerve problem which could heal by itself and since scrotum ultrasound, physical check, CT scan and urine test, other blood test came out negative, I don't have to worry. But the left testicle and pelvic pain is still there. How not to worry? Please help.

Your question sounds like a setup for a coeliac disease diagnosis! I had all these symptoms which are now all clear with a gluten free diet, and for eczema which I also had on my hands it was cured by Tissue salts for skin disorders (Scuessler brand works for me)

I regularly get a taste of ammonia in the back of my throat (3-5 times a week - anytime) - I have had tonsil problems for years, in that they are permanently enlarged, I have breathing problems and snore loudly. I also suffer from heartburn quite often, although not so much lately, so I am wondering if these problems could be related. I have found recently that the taste comes after I have gulped down a drink but it is very irregular. My partner says he can't smell it but the taste for me is really pungent and overpowering. I can even feel it in the back of my nose. There is no pain associated but the regularity of this problem has become a cause of concern. It started about 4 months ago.

you need to get your tonsils removed through surgery, it's possible they may have some sort of infection which isn't tonsillitus. the important thing to know is that the tonsils are a part of the body that are not needed for anything, they're basically useless. all they do is get infected, getting them removed will be beneficial to you, a lot of children get them remeoved when they're young if they have suffered from tonsilitus more than twice, and will probably solve your problem! it's a scary thought but theres nothing to be affraid of trust me! good luck

I have the exact same problem :( It started when I was 17 and I am now 20. I feel sick almost everyday and I have been to my Doctor so many times and his repsonse was 'I'm stuck'. He has no idea what it could be, at first he thought it might be IBS but I don't have any other symptoms. He has tried me on 4 different types of medication but nothing seems to help. It has a massive impact on my life as sometimes I can't keep arrangements with friends as I feel too sick to go out, or I have to go home early on a night out because I feel sick. I also nearly got fired from a job because I had to keep going home early. I really wish I can find what the problem is as I am missing out on so much in my life.

I am a 45 year old man and didn't have farting issues until I had an ENDOFUNPLICATION just over 2 years ago; basically part of my stomach had protruded through my diaphragm and causing excessive heartburn. I had the above operation and not one bout of heartburn and I was so thrilled not to have the excruiating pain in my throat but about a month after the op I started to fart uncontrollably. Now I fart so much and so loud that it's just not funny anymore. Whenever I visit anyone I know I won't be staying long as I know my guts will be unable to hold in the massive amount of held in farts. I sodding hate the condition and it's really REALLY pi**ing me off.

Hi Pam,how are you getting on with the Esomeprazole, is it a 20mg tab? Well Pam burning the candle at both ends would make anyone feel yuckish lol. Hope you had a good time though, but now its time to get boring and taking care of yourself lol. Pam I gave up coffee altogether 2 years ago. Recently I have reduced my chocolate intake and I don't take much meat or milk anyway. Pam as far as I know PPI's work best if taken on an empty stomach in the morning, even if heartburn is more severe during the night. Pam at 5am yesterday and this morning I have again taken a gamble and cut my morning dose of 20mg tab in half as I am still free of heartburn since taking a half tab at 5pm (doctor advised you must take both doses 12 hrs apart. Since last week I have also been taking 2 tablespoons of cider vinegar (with the mother)diluted in warm water with a teaspoon of Manuka honey to make taste more pleasant. However, today I have taken a spoonful of prescribed Peptac (Gaviscone) as I thought I was going to experience heartburn. If I feel the same tomorrow I will go back to taking a 20mg dose of Esomerasole at 5am, however continue to take 10mg (half a tab)at 5pm. Pam please let me know if you are feeling the benefits of Esomeprazole as I instantly did.

Hi, I've been suffering with aheartburn ever since I was a teenager I'm now 32. I've bought every heartburn medication I possibly could over the counter which obviously never worked. I went to see a Dr few years ago begging to get my condition sorted as it was getting in the way of my every day personal and professional life. I've been put on Tevazol which didn't work and also Lansoprazol which didn't work either. It puts me through great pain, heartburn always comes on within seconds of me having food of any kind, I don't suffer from coeliac condition and also waiting for my concultation with a Dr and hopefully have an endoscopy soon after. One of the symptoms is like a frog sound coming out of my throat which is embarassing and also painful. It bloats me and leaves me in a great discomfort and also gives me chest pains. Any idea what it could be? I must say, I'm fit and not overweight, my diet is pretty healthy and I gave up smoking 2 years ago.

Hi Debbie as you are only 37 you must be terribly worried. Debbie you must try to eradicate heartburn altogether to avoid further damage to your oesophagus. For almost 20 years I have tried all PPI's as well as over the counter treatments to ease heartburn with no great results. Therefore, I have suffered from endless sleepless nights. After searching the internet I discovered a PPI named ESOMEPRAZOLE which I asked the doctor to prescribe me. I take 20mg at 5AM and another 20mg at 5PM and since being prescribe it almost 3 weeks ago I have not experienced any heart burn at all. This is the first time in many years (probably 10) I have managed to go for 3 WEEKS WITHOUT HEARTBURN. I can now lie flat in bed without waking up in the middle of the night being sick with acid burning my nose and insides. Debbie I am 53 years old and when I was diagnosed with Barrett's two years ago I searched the internet. I discovered the "HALO" treatment (Radio frequency ablation therapy) for Barrett's oesophagus. I then asked my doctor about the treatment and she did not appear to have any knowledge before asking ME what the NICE guidelines recommended. However, I discovered there is loads of information which is easily accessed via the internet about the "HALO" treatment and desperately want to speak with all who have had it (u tube provides good videos). Debbie, hope this information has helped you. I live in Scotland.

Hi Michael, I also HAD your problem and due to suffering heart burn for 20 years I was diagnosed with Barretts oesophagus(a change in cells which can develop into dysplasia which is pre cancerous cells. I was prescribed 40 mg Omeprazol daily which did not help symptoms particularly during sleep when I would waken up being sick which also came down my nose and I could actually feel my nose being burned with the acid. As a result I suffered from endless sleepless nights. After searching the internet I discovered a Proton Pump Inhibitor named Esomeprazole which I asked the doctor to prescribe me last week. I take 20 mg at 5 AM and another 20 mg at 5 PM (if I don't take medication between 5&6 AM I still suffer from heartburn. However, since taking ESOMEPRAZOLE I have not experienced any heart burn at all. Michael I hope this information helps you. Just for the record heartburn is a serious condition which can also cause asthma.

Hi Pam great to hear the doctor obliged your request. However, your doctor and receptionist have a duty to treat you nice and listen to your concerns/request and I sincerely hope Esomeprazole works for you. Over the years I have always found that I must take PPI's before 9am otherwise I would suffer from heartburn day and night where it became more severe to the extent that I just stayed up all night. Therefore, as I am up for work anyway at 5am I take one 20mg tablet on an empty stomach at 5am and another 20mg tablet at 5pm. Pam as you probably already know there must be a certain time of day that suits you best to take your medication. To my knowledge I think that PPI's do have a greater effect when taken early in the morning on an empty stomach. Pam I am pleased to tell you that I still remain free from heart burn and hope Esomeprazole works for you. At 5pm last night I took a gamble and cut my 20mg tablet in half to make it a 10mg dose and to my delight I did not suffer from heartburn. Therefore I will try the same at 5pm tonight but still take 20mg at 5am. Pam I do understand your anxiety as I am very lucky to have never suffered from any adverse effects from PPI's. Therefore take care, I hope you keep well and look forward to you updating me in the near future.

i recently tryd to take an overdose of anti depresants but only took 17 and ever since hav had realy bad heartburn/indigestion which gets worse wen i eat im to embarassed tell my doctor but wnt to know if i coud have done some permanent damage?

Hi, I'm having a problem with bouts of wind. (Belching) this lasts for ages and I have to go on long walks to relieve myself. I have been diagnosed with Barratts, I do not however have heartburn. I'm at my wits end, I have told my Dr, he prescribed Lansoprazole and Domperizone. None seem to work. I have tried to self diagnose on the net but to no avail. Please help if you can.
