when a male block as got impetigo on there upper leg and it is red and blisters with green pus? can all three females can we catch it off bed covers and can we catch it off towels and do we need to change the bed covers? can we still catch the impetigo anyway?

I'm a female 25 and only last 5months I've started developing a rash on my face,it's blotchy, itchy, mostly around my eyes and mouth and will last for 2weeks of the month. The main trigger for rash is my menstrual cycle, bang on menstruation, I break out in this rash but it's only on my face, this is only time it happens. I've gone to my local GP and he reckons it is impetigo! I have explained to him about my menstrual cycle but he insisted it's impetigo, however I think it is something else. Any women who can help??

No, you could scold yourself. Im currently having an outbreak on my face, I've been using the creams that have made it worse, cracked my lip and caused further infection. I usually use my own methods, that take a while but help it heal better. Firstly- good hygiene, changing pillowcase every day, never using a towel on infected area. Home remedies- take echinaea and ascorbic acid (vital c) good nutrition like home made soups (butternut squash) avoid all sugar! It promotes inflammation, helps bacteria breed and slows healing. I find eating eggs exasperates it for me too. I use liquid echinaea dabbed on area and an oil or natural calendula balm if sore and cracked. Coconut oil is excellent too in place of this. If everything else fails, slather in coconut, its worth a go. It has to be a jar of 100% coconut btw.

I really hope this helps you xxxxxx

I have been prescribed fucidin and oral antibiotics costing me a fortune at the chemist. It is always little tiny blisters that ooze and then go yellow and crusty. Seems to happen when i get stressed. I don't want it anymore it stress's me out even more any help would be great...

Are you sure it is impetigo? You may want to check "dermatitis herpiformis". It is related to gluten sensitivty/intolerance. Good luck!

Helen, ask for a prescription of RETAPAMULIN CREAM from your GP , stings at first but leave it on, it's working. It is awesome. Works very quickly. Start taking Acidophilus regularly, can get this from health food/Hollant and Barrett.

I got tested for herpes and the results came back positive saying i had genital herpes, although i have had no signs except an outbreak of sores on my chin which the doctors put down to impetigo. I have asked my previous sexual partners if they have got it and they all said no or had not been tested. is it true that herpes onl comes up on a test if its flared up at the time? or can it be detected even if no symptons are there.

Hi,im 22 and had an ongoin problem with the skin around my mouth.Ive been to the doctors a few times and they suspect it could be dermatitis or impetigo and have been given fluxocillin? and amicyclovir i think are the tablets ive had 2 courses of these and the skin isn't healing up and feel I'm getting nowhere wth it. for the past couple of days it's been leaking a clear liquid constantly and keep having to wipe it and eventually it will scab over a bit, it feels really hot like it's burning and is very itchy. Do you have any other suspitions of what it could be or any cream I could try?

Hey, Im 22 as well and have the exact same issue as you except mine appears around the jawline and then descends down the neck when its at its worst! Ive had the fluxocilin as well to no effect, head back to your doctor and ask for bactoban and another oral antibiotic, theyre always a bit hesitant to use them because although more effective on going use will lead to the impetigo developing an immunity (well the underlying bacteria which is usually staph but on occasion strep) which makes it even more difficult to treat later down the track. The best advice is to remain studiously clean and let your bodies immune system fight it off, if you can allow for this then it tends not to reappear nearly as frequently. Hot water (ie shower head on it) is a great reliever of the itch and also said to be effective in discourage its spread, the same can be said of sunlight which you should try and get enough of! before the introduction of antibiotics for its treatment, radiation therapy was a common alternative. Lastly as the itch can become dementing in its irritation i strongly recommend an over the counter antihistamine such as loratidine (common brands are claratine and telfast) which is normally used for hayfever and its symptoms but will have the effect of greatly reducing the itch and any inflammation. Good luck

I've had impetigo at the right corner of my mouth for 7 weeks on and off. I've been prescribed a 7 day course of fluxocillin antibiotics which cleared it but it returned within 2 weeks. I was then given crystacide cream which made it worse and 10 times more painful as it cracked and dried out my skin to the point where I couldn't open my mouth to eat. I then got given another 7 day course of fluxocillin which cleared it up only to have it return within the next 2 weeks. What can I do to finally get rid of this horrible and painful problem?!

This doesn't sound like impetigo, this may be herpes as cold sores (herpes virus) and impetigo can be similar in appearance to an untrained eye. Do the blisters have a honey/yellowy crust? If they do it may well be impetigo. If I was in your shoes I would visit the GPs or local GUM clinic

I too had bn suffering impetigo for bout 4 years on and off. I went for a food allergy test and turns out i have a yeast allergy , since cutting out the bread i have been free from impetigo. Seemingly the yeasthas bn causing stresses in my stomach bringing impetigo on !

Do people report having similar symptoms to shingles, e.g headache, feeling sick, numb hands? Can stress bring on Impetigo? How can l build my immune system so l do not get an outbreak of Impetigo? l am 62 y/o cleaner, yet children usually get Impetigo. l was bitten above knee years ago, by a spider while vacuuming at work, and in that spot above my knee this skin condition outbreak appears from time to time and l wonder if anyone, with it, is like me and feels sick with it? Thanks so much Vanessa for the advice about the Tea Tree oil. I have been battling impetigo for two or more weeks. I have a really bad case. My impetigo covered 1/4 of my face. It wept for two weeks or more....I read this yesterday on 07/03/12 and I went out and bought a bottle of the tea tree oil for $4.35. I used it at 6:00 p.m. yesterday and by 5:00 today my face was no longer weeping. The impetigo is drying up. Yeaaaaa……..Thanks again!

I had impetigo on my arm and i got antibiotics to clear it up which did the job. Well over a year later I still get tingling on my arm where I had the impetigo! Will this always tingle or can I do anything about it? It feels like something is on my arm and is very annoying.

my girlfriend has just been diagnosed with impetigo. She has had it for about a week now. We live together and sleep in the same bed, but i have yet to see any signs of impetigo on myself. Is this normal?? i am worried about my girlfriend most, its dropped her self esteem down a lot. She is, and always will be beautiful to me, no matter what. She is too embarrassed to go in public. Her breakout is white, and then a crusty yellow around her nose and left eye. Im seein that a lot of people get it back quite often. Is it something that will always come back after you get it the first time? i have so many questions. can a person be immune to impetigo? I am just really worried and Im going to do everything i can to help my girlfriend get through this. I just need some advice

I've had it pop up 5 times now and never passed it on to my partner thank god. I think so long as you're careful- good hand washing, separate towels, clean bed linen etc-it doesnt seem to pass on. Or maybe we've been lucky so far. It can only get into your skin through a break anyway though it only needs a tiny one. It doesn't recurr for everyone. Some people only get it once. As far as what you can do, just be supportive and patient. That's all you can do really. Encourage her to eat well too. Plenty of fruit, veg and grains easy in the sweet, dairy and fatty stuff. It really does speed up healing when you eat well. Hopefully by now she's pretty much healed anyway. It is really upsetting and makes you feel absolutely horrible. It's great she has you to support her

EMUAID is the best topical treatment cream for impetigo. I am 24 years old and got impetigo in my early twenties I found that when I moved to Australia it got worse and I was getting it nearly every week. I think it had something to do with the heat. Anyway I searched and searched for years for something to try and get rid of it and used grapefruit seed oil and cold sore creams and antibiotics but nothing seemed to work. I came across EMUAID on the Internet, it is a little bit pricey but so worth it. I can't recommend this product enough, it works as soon as you put it on and it's gone the next day or max two days. I hope this helps Any one who's suffering from impetigo.

When I was 15 I got impetigo all around my mouth. It was not a pleasant experience. At first I thought it was just chapped lips, but then the crusting and all of that fun stuff began to occur. No one had any idea what it was so my mom ended up taking me to the hospital where I found out it was indeed impetigo. It went away shortly after applying the antibiotic cream.

I have been getting what I'm pretty sure is impetigo about once a year for ten years. I just recently went to the doctor and he gave me clindamycin phosphate lotion which is usually a treatment for acne but it kills bacteria which is what impetigo is so it worked pretty well.

I have been suffering from recurring impetigo for about 7 years. I picked it up in Zante when I was 20, possibly from a swimming pool, when I developed a large circular patch of impetigo on the inside of my left thigh. The strange thing with my impetigo is that it only comes back if that part of my leg gets in the sun! My GP is mystified, but cannot examine/fully diagnose the problem, as I tend to go to the GP in preparation for a holiday to get a prescription of flucloxacillin and fucdin cream. I agree with all the comments about keeping the area clean and covered and well moisturised. My impetigo starts off with a raised red itchy swelling of the skin, which then swiftly develops into multiple blisters full of yellow liquid, which then burst while I walk, leading to the usual cycle of weeping crusty sores infecting the skin around them. The fucidin cream can keep it under control if I manage to keep my leg out of the sun completely, but otherwise it seems useless once my impetigo 'erupts'. So good to see that other people struggle with this condition, as I sometimes feel like a total idiot on holiday trying to keep my left leg covered up, and limping around trying not to let it rub on my other leg!

Hello -- maybe you could try earthclinic.com - a website that offers help from the public -- remedies they've tried that actually work! I had impetigo - I applied apple cider vinegar - it does sting but just for a minute, then when it dried I applied zincofax. It did take three weeks for it go go away though. Good luck!

Hi, I also been getting impetigo since grade school I've yet to spread to others, but yesterday my baby daughter kiss me on the mouth where my outbreak is. I Hurried to wash her lips and hands with soap and water. I so hope that helps prevent her from being a victim of impetigo. What do someone do who has touched your sores, should they go see a doctor?

Hello I had singles on my face when i was 15 for about 3 weeks & told by the doc it occur from stress???? Ever since then iv suffered from really really bad outbreaks of coldsores & impetigo. which i woun't go outside the house with because it's too embrassing & i look like a freak with it. About 3 weeks ago i had a bad flare up of impetigo & had2 take 2weeks off work because of it i was put on 2 courses of antibiotics & granodin ointment. Even the GP told me it was the worse case he had ever seen!!! I think the ointment was the best treatment i have ever used for clearing up impetigo as fucidin cream is not strong enough4 severe cases which i get!!! I wish some1 would invent a vaccination to prevent getting it as it takes over my life when it does occur! i can't go out, i can't sleep with it or shower properly cuz im afraid it will spread & no1 will cum near me with it!! please help!

I have just had impetigo on my top lip and it is an embarassing scab for the time you have it. I went to the doctors and was prescribed steroid creme, it took about a week for the scab to completely disappear. This is the second time i have had impetigo with in six months which worries me.
