HI im 25 and I have a contraceptive implant which is due to be replaced in september. It is my second one, for the last 5 months my periods are heavier and longer with spotting for several days after, i suffer terrible insomnia for atleast 4 days every month, mood swings, hot flushes, slight depression etc. Is this just due to that the implant is running low on hormones, if so would that mean its less effective as a contraception and needs replacing sooner?

I am 21 and my doctors just cant seem to figure out what is wrong with me. My breasts, not just my nipples although that's where the tenderness starts. They come back normal in breast tests. I get ovarian cysts and my period has never been normal even after having my Iud in for almost 2 years is still not regular. I am tired of being in pain, tired and sore. Thyroid tests come back good, and they wont even consider me for PCOS because I am "not over weight or hairy enough" for a 5ft 2in 145LB or 10.3 stone 162.5cm young woman. I just dont know what to do. I live in the United States and just love this show, wish I could find an answer to this I am tired of long and irregular periods, tender and sore breasts, cystic pain in my hips, insomnia and depression.

I am a 25 year old female and have suffered with stress/anxiety and insomnia on and off for the last 5 years. I have recently been prescribed propranolol for the 2nd time from my GP which i am refusing to take as on several occasions it has given me strong palpitations. I was also prescribed Zopiclone to help me sleep (7.5mg) - this is also the 2nd time i have been prescribed this and it worked wonders the 1st time. This time it worked for 2 weeks or so until i started waking suddenly in the night screaming/shouting with no recollection why. This wasnt much of a problem so i carried on taking them, until i suffered hallucinations recently. I woke at around 4am to see a man in a white coat stood at my bedroom door, as i moved closer he faded away but had the face of my late grandad... i then saw in the hallway an lady with a big head dress floating up and down and turning to look at me. Although this doesnt sound scary i found it so disturbing i darent continue taking the Zopiclone incase it happens again. Has anyone else suffered hallucinations from Zopiclone?

I am very interested in the above comment from "Ant". I have been suffering from dreadful IBS for just over 12 months. In June'2011 after a night out I ate a kebab and during the night got severe vomiting and diorrehea a few times. I wasnt right after for weeks and had cramps and wind particuarly on my right lower side. After 3 weeks I went to the GP who gave me a 4 day course for Flagyl 400 mg. He also gave me Colofac, told me to take digestive ensymes. I also got Diflucan, two 150mg tablets (to kill yeast). He also told me to give up bread and beer. I tried for a couple of weeks, but its impossible to stick to these diets !! In Jan'12, after negative blood tests, I went in for scopes (both ways) which came back negative apart from very slight diverticulitis. The scopes and bloods were clear for Coeliac and HPylori and was advised that I have post infectious IBS which could last up to 12 months. I still have it really bad (mainly constipation). Other symptoms are tingling/numbness,and whitey seed like things in stools. I'm suffering depression and insomnia with this now and cannot get answers from anyone. The "Health Shops" suggest this is Candida, but again diets are their only long term suggested remedy. I am using Threelac now, no great benefit and have spent a fortune on other supplements. Can the doctor prescribe a long term anti-fungal course of tablets to keep these symptoms at bay? Also, could I be suffering from "C difficile"? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Tks, Shea.

Hi, seems we are both going down the same route to figure out our problem... I have been taking digestive enzymes (the Global Health brand) as well as threelac for nearly two weeks... I have now started going to the toilet every day as I used to.. From what I have read; candida is left to grow in your gut when the transit of your food is sluggish and constipated; the candida then stops you producing digestive enzymes and so you become constipated. A catch 22 situation which digestive enzymes seem to be helping me with at the moment. I am hoping that In a few weeks I may see a bit improvement in my symptoms. I'll update you on how I go if it's of some use to you. Ant :)

I have also recently been experiencing visual disturbances, weight gain And insomnia.

Im 15 and I haven't ever had sex or taken the pill. I have self-diagnosed insomnia and depression. My period is sometimes (sorry to be graphic) blackish brownish and clotty. Its foul and I'm scared, please help.

Dont worry, When its black its oftern because its old blood. Mine are sometimes black my gp said there was nothing to worry about and that it was just old blood coming out of my body. As for the clots they can be really annoying but i found exersing everyday while i was on my period reduced them. If you are really worried tho, go see your GP they should be able to give you advice on what to do.

Hi, I've been suffering from insomnia for months now and the very few times I do sleep I end up with what I assume is night terrors because I wake up with scratch marks on my arms and tears that seemed to have streamed at least a few hours before. I was also diagnosed with mild aspergers syndrome when I was seven and that may or may not have something to do with it.

I'm in surgical menopause and currently on HRT. I'm still having hot flashes ,hair loss, low libido and severe insomnia. The surgery was September 6, how long should I give my body to get used to the new HRT? I'm only 40 years old and the low libido, and other symptoms are gettting me down.

Is it weird that I hate sex?! I'm 17 and lost my virginity at a young age and when I was 8 I was molested. I only have organisms if I receive oral. If I have intercourse I hardly ever enjoy it. People tell me im weird because everyone else loves it. Am I crazy? (And if it helps I also suffer from insomnia, depression, and self harm)

No not weird. Dont talk bout your personally stuff with others. You leaving yourself open to ridicule by at times narrow minded people. Get some thing done bout depression, as that's fixable. Cd someone for the self harming, as that's a issue.

I think it's something like 50% of women can't have an orgasm through penetrative sex alone, so you may only be able to orgasm from clitoral stimulation - making penetration less enjoyable. But that's normal. Obviously what you went trough as a child may have affected the psychological connection to sex (but as you say you suffer from self harm I hope you are having, or seeking, counselling for this). Also, you are 17 and still finding what you really enjoy sexually so it may take a bit of time with a loving partner to discover the best way for you to orgasm and enjoy sex. Hope this helps

My periods are really bad I have headache for days leading up to them & insomnia, then they are really heavy & full of clots (please look at galleries I'll upload a pic) I have pain a lot but more in period sometimes with bowel movements or just generally I'm also very tired at time of period but dic says blood levels okay at min - please help

On Friday my doctor put me on a combined pill, I have only been on a few days and already I am really miserable and have a wild temper, I am totally fed up. I had a blood test and it said I was menopausal. To be honest I don't have a clue what is going on with me. Will I get worse before I get better or do I need to get back to my doctors thanks

Hi. I'm 39. Experiencing bad nausea, changes in body temp, acne, weight gain, mood swings, night sweats, insomnia, delayed period and headaches. Ive had hormonal problems for 23 years...lost nearly all my hair. Drs havent helped at all. I presume i'm hitting the menopause. Highly unlikely im pregnant.

Im 17 and have been suffering from horrendous dark circles under each eye. Comments are made on a daily basis and have tried a number of creams to remove them, of which none have worked. I am also a sufferer of Insomnia and am 100% sure the two problems are linked. What i would like more than anything is for a solution to the dark eye problem, so if anyone knows of any creams or other solutions that would be most helpful. Thank You

I have suffered from Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria for 6 years now, it has been depressing at times. I also suffer from insomnia and more recent hot flushes, it was only very recently that my doctor linked these symptoms together and has decided to test for Thyroid Disease (which my mum has)and I am strangely hoping I have it, at least it will be a step closer to controlling it. My advice would be to mention any other regular symptoms to your doctor on your next visit, no matter how insignificant or separate you think they are :)

I am currently going through with the stressful symptoms of menopause. I am 49. I have hot flushes, insomnia, anxiety, memory loss, impatience. It's all about acceptance. I have a good support from my partner, he just laughs when I tell him I am feeling those symptoms. I hope they go away very soon and feel the same for all of you who are suffering the same. At the moment I am not taking any medication for that and I hope not to take them in the future. I work as a care and sometimes when I have to bend to help those people to get dressed I feel I am going to explote with the hot flushes.

I never had terrors as a kid, but around 20 started to get them. My partner at the time suffered insomnia and it was worsened by my disturbing episodes. We eventually moved to separate beds and eventually to no relationship at all. There isn't much I can add to this, but I have definitely found stress, over tiredness and overheating to be big factors for me. Also, if the room is too dark then the terrors last much longer. Light helps me to orientate myself faster. Over all it really sucks. My new partner is far more sympathetic, and helpful. Which is pretty amazing as sometimes I'm pushing/hitting him. The worst is when we are sleeping at other peoples houses and I've screamed like I was being murdered. Very embarrassing.

I am now in my eight year of the menopause, (my mother went through 12 years of it) I will go mad. I have insomnia, anxiety, memory loss, impatience, and the hot flushes are absolutely horrendous, I get them every 5-10 minutes all over not just face and neck but right down my whole body and it lasts for ages, its such an intense heat and at night time its worse. I have severe vagina dryness and having sex is very sore and haven't had sex for a very long time, my husband had to move into the spare room as I cannot sleep with him anymore due to the hot flushes. I have tried everything from Health Shops, Acupuncture, Phyto Soya nothing works. I cannot go on HRT. I work full time and I'm just exhausted, please, please can anybody help.

Ive suffered from eczema since I was born but had a couple of years eczema free, over the past year my eczema has went completely out of control that I cant handle it any more, Ive been admitted to hospital a few times but nothing I do seems to manage or calm it down. The hospital have tried absolutely everything and nothing has ever worked! I'm done with steroids, oral drugs, and steroid creams which are only weakening my skin or dampening my immune system anyway which in the long run is worse for eczema! Does anyone know of an alternative route to take for anything to help manage my skin, I know have been diagnosed with insomnia and severe depression I am clueless what to do. Any ideas?

I'am the same since birth or from childhood, i'am in the army and to find that hot climates are the way forward I notice that the swelling goes down the itching goes away and returns to normal skin but still see the redness if u look for it tho, but since back in the uk for the past couple of years then I went to the GP and they have given me some sprays & roll ons but every time I used them it swells up like scraps very redness and very itchy but stop using them now so the tick is the hot weather I try to get into the sunas and into steams rooms to cut the itchy and the redness and the swelling down.

I am currently watching my Mum go through the stressful symptoms of menopause. She is 54. She has hot flushes, insomnia, anxiety, memory loss, impatience, and she finds it difficult to go into town alone. I believe the stress caused by the menopause is mainly caused by society's complete lack of understanding and honoring of this natural cycle. Women going through this need support from their families and work collegues. They should not try to suppress their symptoms with drugs, but allow space in their lives to nuture themselves. Do not that push yourself to carry on as you always have. Take plenty of breaks, work at a slower pace, ask for help at home. It's all about acceptance. Seeing my Mum go through her cycle has taught me these things.

I totally agree! I had a severe bout of anxiety/depression 2 years ago and looking back have no doubt it was the onset of the menopause. Through that I've learned to change the way I do things, mainly now because of the sweating. Do a bit and rest a bit is the only way for me! Apart from the sweating, lack of libido is the worst thing for me. There's a great forum that I use called Menopause Matters http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/index.php with wonderful discussions and posts from like-minded ladies.

I absolutely agree , wise words from a younger woman. I suffered dreadfully ,however took HRT to relive the symptoms [ especially hot flushes and sleeplessness] as they were hugely embarassing and 'not seen' in the workplace or in day to day life, or if they were they were ridiculed...[ poor old girl]. I now have to come off HRT and feel very aprehensive about it. Shameful really ...after so many of us women have honoured and nutured others.
