I have a small mole on my back that became very itchy after going on holiday to tenerife this summer. It was so itchy that I couldn't avoid scratching it and in the end it did bleed. I spoke to a doctor in my local GP surgery and he told me that it was ok and showed me pictures of what cancerous moles would look like to help my understanding - this kindof put my mind to rest. However, it is now 5 months later and I still have some noticeable itching most days and am concerned that there may be an issue - is it normal for moles to itch regularly? I never a problem with this mole before I went on holiday. Thanks Kel

I have a what looks a bit like a mole on the rear of my left leg, this mole is not raised up but if you rub your fingers over it it feels like a lump beneath it. Their is no hair growing from it and is sometimes itchy and has what looks like dried skin over it. It is light brown in colour with a bit of redness around it. Should I be concerned??

My GP has refused to refer me to Hammersmith hospital, where there is a mole mapping service. I believe I am at high risk (fair skin, many moles, and many years working overseas in the sun, with the occasional itchy mole). He even went on to google to find local mole clinics - I don't mentioned their names, but I've already done that and not willing to risk the services which largely have negative feedback. What can I do?? I'm going to change my GP back to my old one in the hope for a better service. Macmillan recommended Hammersmith, so I feel they should know what they're talking about.

Hi I'm 24 female and I have a mole on my back, I have noticed it for the last 2 years as being itchy and I keep picking it, but more recently it has become constantly itchy and sore to touch and it is bothering me now. As I have had it for a while now is it something that I should be worried about?

i had a normal mole on my arm and then one day i accidentally burnt it while getting something out of the oven. i had a scab over the mole for about a week and then when the scab came off i was left with my mole, but it had thinned out and spread into more moles next to the original mole. is it worth getting it checked out?

Hi, yesterday i had a really itchy feeling on my lower back and i showed my partner when i got home from work and he said it was either a mole or a spot, i had been scratching at it all day so it was quite inflamed and red in colour. today he says it looks like more of a mole and it is not as itchy today . i am worried because i have already had to have a mole removed on the top of my back which was not malignant melanoma, i have been left with an awful keloid scar. do you think i should be worried about this? thanks Claire xxx

Over a year ago I found a lump under my left nipple, I had it remover n September, but that armpit, part of the breast closest to the armpit and a mole next to my armpit are all very itchy, I'm not certain if the mole's itchy or jut the general area and so I just keep catchig it, but it's sore. In the itchy area of the breast the tissue has also thickened and become sore. Last week I saw my doctor about the mole only, he vaigly glanced at it at said it was fine, he sais he could refer me to get it removed but it wasn't needed in his oppinion. I'm wondering if he aught to have examined it closely/at all and being only 19 is the thickening in the breast tissue a worry at all?

I have a rather large mole on my back that has recently changed. It appears to have another mole growing from the inside and it protrudes quite a way. I have been to the Doctor twice about it and both times I've been told that it's nothing to worry about. The area around the mole is either numb or itchy. I am very oale skinned and always wear factor 50 sun cream. Can I go back to the Doctor and insist it is removed?

My little sister is 7 years old and she was born with a flat brown mole on her back. In the last year the mole has formed a white ring around the mole. My mum has taken her to the doctors and the said it was because the mole was going. A year on and she still has the mole with the ring around it. Should we be worried or is this normal?

I think you should see another doctor, one who specializes in skin concerns. Don't wait. A growing mole is something to take seriously. Go do it. Now.

Go straight back to the doctors! You can't be too careful!!!

I have had quite a large puffy mole just under my left armpit for as long as I can remember. I have never had any problems with it till 7 days ago. My mole felt like it was catching on the side of my bra and was becoming red around the outer circle of it. To stop anymore irritation I put a plaster over it for a couple of days. When I removed the plaster I was horrified to see the mole had swollen a little and there was an angry looking pus blister that decided to leak. When I wiped it clean I noticed the mole had like a crater style hole in it. I covered it back up to stop infection and when looked 24 hrs later, the area that was a hole had skin that had turned black. I have just checked it again and glad to say the affected area has cleared up and scabbed over but it is so itchy. Is what I have elaborated on normal when a mole gets irritated or do you think there is something really wrong. I have never worried about it before but am really worried now. Any info would be great and helpful.
