This sounds very much like genital herpes. I was diagnosed with it last year and had the same symptoms. Don't panic just visit your local gum clinic and soon as possible or wait and see if you get another outbreak and then go immediately as they will them be able to swob the sores and give you a definitive diagnosis.

so me and my boyfriend both get cold sores and the other day I performed oral sex and the next day we realised I had a cold sore so now im freaking out that hes going to get HSV 2 which will pretty much ruin his life and possibly our relationship.. So can HSV 2 develop from HSV 1 and if he already gets cold sores does that reduce the risks? We both don't have HSV 2 but im panicking he could get it from the cold sore.. Additionally would HSV 1 on his genitals be really bad like HSV1 and what would be need to do to sort it out but I thought as we both get cold sores it wouldn't matter because we have it anyway.. thanks..

As long as he has already been exposed to the same virus he will be fine. However, with first time exposure, HSV-1 can be passed onto other areas of the body; HSV-1 & HSV-2 are both interchangeable.

I masturbate frequently(1-4x a day) and one night i felt this pain. I found a red sore on top, and close to the edge of the head of my penis. I then found two other sores or blisters under the head of my penis. The ones at the bottom hurt more, even running water makes it hurt. Im a vigin but I have received oral sex from my gf. It was her first time so I wasn't concern about STDs or anything. Other than the pain from the sores, the edge of the head hurts as well when I touch it. Prior to the pain and sores, I cleaned around the end of my head(where my foreskin folds up behind the head) with a wet q-tip. Could that be what caused the pain and sores and should I be worried?

You should really visit your local GU Clinic or Sexual Health Clinic to rule out any STD's.

Hi I'm really worried about my husband's rash/scabs/sores on his skin, basically his skin tag on his back started to get sore and itchy, it eventually turned very hard to touch and started to bleed. We then noticed that every other one of his skin tags (and he had a quite a few) were Hardening and falling off. However the first one started to flatten and formed a large sore which itched extremely and started weeping an orangy fluid which dries into a thick crust. He also had sores develop on his scalp and ankle area. He attended the gp and was sent to a skin specialist at our local hospital and was given antibiotics and steroid treatment. While taking the antibiotics the sores cleared but as soon as the treatment had finished the sores came back. He has been on antibiotics since last June and now the antibiotics aren't working aswell as before he has had numerous skin samples that have been taken but has had no diagnosis and is still suffering these itchy sores/scabs. Please do you have any advice as we are at our wits end and don't know what else to do, this is affecting his mental health family life and work, please help.

Hi I'm 16 & I'm a girl. For the past two years I've had sores (after some research I think they look like blisters sometimes) on my vagina that keep coming back. They are mostly painful & always release some white discharge & blood (almost like a huge pimple that has white stuff in it). Most of the time they come just before my periods. My vagina normally gets itchy but I can't really scratch or anything because I end up popping the sores/blisters & feel pain & sometimes I bleed. The sores sometimes cause me a lot of pain even when walking, depending on how big they are & where exactly they are. I am too shy to visit my GP about this. I am very worried & would like some help please. Oh and I haven't had any sexual partners during the last 2 years + I've never had sex. PLEASE HELP.

It sounds like genital herpes you have. This can be caused by cold sores around the mouth (mainly the puss from the cold sore) coming into conact with any skin lesions of the lining of the vagina. It can be passed mouth to genital directly or if you have picked or squeezed a cold sore around your mouth and then touched your genitals without washing your hands you can get it that way. If you have unprotected sex with either male or female and they have any skin lesions that come directly into contact from the puss you may pass the virus onto them unknowingly. My advice is to go to any walk in nhs std clinic next to your local hospital. It's totally confidential. Not even you GP is advised that you've attended. You can also take a close friend for support, and you call them for the result, so no embarrassing letters or messaged!

Sores can mean so many things, if you masterbate without some type of lubrication you could get sores from it. Now if your sores have pus coming from them go see your family's practitioner and get an STD swab. But please keep open mind that you may not have herpes and may just be rough patchs:) goodluck

I'm 18 and since being around the age of 3 I've always had cold sores, but as getting older they've got worse, I go back and forth to the doctors because the problem is beyond a joke now, in 2 week I had six cold sores and one which was under my eye. The cold sores are now starting to leave scars around my mouth and returning constantly, even with 3 different creams prescribed by the doctor and tablets being given. No matter how many times I go back they just say it's natural, but being a 18 year old girl in this day in age walking around with COLDSORES on your face isn't nice. The cold sores are just little things they come up very big like blisters, I've even had one popped and the thing inside it swobbed to see if it was anything. Please someone help.

I have suffered from cold sores all my life. I got sick of trying to get rid of them quickly. I have found the most amazing stuff and even though I was getting a cold sore a week at one point, I now haven't had one for over a year! There is no cure, but I am delighted that I have found something that stops me having out breaks. It's a lip balm, I get it off the internet, it's free postage and packing too. Go to the Presley Lip Balm website. I hope it works for you as well as it has me, because I'm estactic.

Wendy are you getting your eyes checked by a opthalmologyst??? I had those symptoms & mine turned out to be iritis & uvitis! I dont want to scare you if you havent already you need to pester your doctor for a referral! Treated early enough they can treat it with drops & steroids. The opthalmologyst will just put drops in your eyes & shine lights into your eyes getting you to look in various directions.(hopefully you wont have this but idf you do I would recommend you buy a prepaid prescription (£29 odd for 3 months) as I forked out nearly £60 in 3 weeks of appointments before finding out this existed. I too dont have the genital ulcers (thankfully) though have experienced 3-4 of the symptoms as well as blood tests coming back with the likey type to have Behcets.

I noticed my hair was falling out in my early 20s, its started with itchy scalp and sores and my scalp was very delicate. The sores would come and go , but the itching was always there. After about 4 years I plucked up the courage to tell my Gp and he referred me to a dermatologist, who took a biopsy and diagnosed me with Lupus of the scalp ????!!!! and perscribed some tabelts which i was too scared to take as she said the side affect was reduced immune system,I was scared of getting ill. Now i am 32 and I have to wear wigs as i have bald patches all over my scalp. i think I may have this condition and will go back to the Gp.. i know it may be too late now as the hair folicles i think have been permantly damaged, but i just want to say if you think you have this condition go and see your gp ...dont feel shy. I think if i had gone in the early stages they may have been able to prevent my hair loss.......

My condition sounds very much like yours, it started about 4 years ago, itchy scalp, sores which would come and ago but the itching drives me crazy. My hair comes out in handfuls, not in patches but evenly all over and is now getting very thin all over. I went to my GP who gave me something for headlice! I was really worried so paid to see a dermatologist, who took a sample which came back clear.I then saw a NHS dermatologist, and have had to wait 10 months for a patch test which is in August. but I really dont feel confident that they will find the solution to my problem. They have all given me so many lotions and potions, but nothing has worked! I hope you finally get some help Esther, but as this condition is not life threatening, I feel doctors dont pay enough attention to it, after all, a womans hair is her crowning glory!! good luck.

Yes i does sound like the same thing. i have a GP appointment next week so lets see what happens...but you are right, because it can't kill us they are not too bothered !

I am 44 years old and have suffered from cold sores and mouth ulcers since a baby. I remember trying the purple stuff - gentian violet - that I understand has been withdrawn from sale in the UK because of lead content. What I wanted to raise with anyone who suffers from cold sores is that food higher in Arginine than Lysine can aggravate the cold sore virus. In particular, I found (unfortunately) that eating chocolate, rice and peanuts actually aggravates my cold sores. I had 14 cold sores in 14 weeks and realised that my "healthy" snack option of rice cakes wasn't helping my cold sores. I stopped eating rice, chocolate(because of the cocoa content) and peanuts and haven't had them in more than 10 years. My cold sores occur much less frequently and for much shorter periods of time. Now it is usually too much sunshine or stress that brings them on. I can eat small quantities of white chocolate just to get the taste, but too much and the cold sore appears within three hours - literally. I avoid cocoa dusting on fancy coffees and desserts. It helps me - might be worth a try.

i am still young and i have had ingrown hairs and sores in my pubic region for nearly a year now.. i scrub in the shower i use savlon an bio oil for the healing and scars. but i can push to get rid of all the little sores... im still a virgin and im dead ashamed and dont want anyone to see me.. i need help...

After emergency hospital admittance, rounds of specialists, dermatologists, infectious disease md and the CDC in Atlanta I feel very lucky to have reached the PG diagnosis (much quicker than many) thru my hardworking PCP and the third dermatologist who worked cohesively w/him by gathering all the previous biopsies etc. and medical reports of previous physicians who refused to share data. I will say, if they had relied on biopsies alone I would be in sad shape right now... They developed a fluid (alter as needed) treatment plan of oral steroids and steroid cream and ointment applied to the singular large ulceration on my lower back. The pain is like no other. I share a deep, abiding sympathy for anyone who has not had their pain needs addressed. This is nearly a malpractice issue. While PG is rare, we do live in America, for the most part. There are enough internet documents (nearly) to assist any good MD in ruling out most other issues. The remaining defining characteristics of the PG ulcer get very close to a diagnosis. My PCP writes the script for any pain meds and he is quite sensitive to the "idea" that this pain is much like the pain of a burn victim. If there was no pain during healing that would be a bad sign. As the ulcer heals we see progress on the outside, however, remember this was created by the immune system turning on itself. Therefore it makes sense that the healing occurs from the inside out. We cannot see the cell or nerve damage that is regenerating under the layers of new skin. Hang in there to any/all who are still suffering. Press those PCP to assist with pain management and work with any other specialist. Your PCP is the 'hub' of your healthcare.... I had forgotten that.
