Having severe problems with Vaginal discharge. Find that my vagina becomes itchy, swollen and tears. Sometimes when this happens my discharge is white almost like cottage cheese (YUK!) Had a tablet from the doctor for Thrush as thought it was that. But it came back about 3 weeks later - worried it might be something else - also had a severe Kidney infection that left me in hospital a few weeks ago (with Swollen Kidney too) could it be related????

I have a duplex kidney on my left side and have had UTI's all my life. Last month I had severe pain in my kidney region and was given antibiotics from my doctor. They didn't help my pain so I went to the local walk in centre and was given stronger antibiotics and told yo do a urine sample. Still no relief so went to my own surgery again, This time my urine results were back and clear which the doc said may be because of the two lots of antibiotics, He said he would arrange some tests which I'm still waiting on. For possible kidney stones! Since all of this my urine smells like chemicals and is often cloudy. And on and off I get pain in my kidney region. Any advice would be good. Thanks

Hi there. I have had kidney stones twice, once in 1999 and again in 2010. Both times my left system was completely blocked. I had surgery the first time to remove them and the second time I had a nephrostemy and then lithotripsy which broke the kidney stone into smaller stones which continued to block my left system. Eventually they were removed surgically. since my second bout of kidney stones I have had terrible, continuous pain in my left kidney, although the pain does feel different to stone pain. I am unable to lie on my left side and if I breath deeply I get a kind of spasm in my left kidney. This pain is making me totally miserable. I informed my consultant of this pain and he just shrugged his shoulders and said that there were no stones left according to my x-rays and that I would just have to put up with it. He then discharged me. I have been back to my GP but they keep giving me antibiotics in the event of an infection but nothing seems to help. can anyone give me any advice. I feel as if my left kidney is swollen, I can feel it all of the time.

I have an enlarged labia which has never really bothered me looks wise however i have crippling reoccuring cystitus and kidney infections.I have had every medical test under the sun carried out to see if there is a reason for this. The only factor I haven't told my GP is my enlarged labia as I'm mortally embarassed to actually talk to someone about it. If anyone thinks it could be a factor for infection in my reoccuring kidney problems please let me know. Also...I go through the motions with my boyfriend of enjoying sex...but all it does is rub the excess skin! sometimes its excruciating.... we have been together for 2 years now so it's kind of past the point of saying. I'm just saying this because for those out there who says that this is 'normal' it's not. It is a real problem and GPs should be recognising that

I have enlarged labia too and like you suffered for years with painful friction during sex!! It was only when I met my husband that i thought to myself 'I want to enjoy sex!' I used to get so swollen and almost bruised from sex.... the solution ... lots and lots of lube!! Your boyfriend will like it too is it makes it feel better for them. Try a silicone based one as it doesnt go dry. Foreplay helps too and making sure that you part your labia before you start having sex, at the time he goes in so to speak to avoid them getting pushed inside (really hurts!) Just remember that you are perfectly normal! I really wouldnt have thought that your labia would cause your infections. just really keep your fluid intake up to help prevent them.

I am constantly gettig bladder infections and also thrush with this i personaly think it is a contributing factor and have read else where that it can be. I don't know what to suggest though apart from telling your doctor. But in all honestly i have told mine and they didn't take me seriously!

Hi just a few questions. I'm basically a ball of medical problems. Firstly I had really bad kidney infections sincethe age of 16 and I was told last year that I have interstitial cythisis but I also have some urgency problems. Iv come off all my meds and am Waiting on further treatment but could be waiting months. It's really painful lately and everything i experience that burning sensation. Is there anything you could suggest to help me? I also have really bad nausea. Out of nowhere I'll feel like vomiting. After I eat, before I eat. Even when I'm doing nothing at all I'll just get a sudden sickness and feel very bad. Iv had bad constipation all my life but it seems to be getting better as of late. But I stil might not go for 3 maybe 4 days sometimes. How do I sort all of this? I'm so tired lately and am Getting barely any sleep so that's not helping to my stomach and bladder problems.

Several years ago I had kidney stones so I know what that feels like. Currently I am having days when I feel like I am passing stones (or attempting to) through my urine. The feeling is identical to when I had kidney stones. However, I do not have any kidney pain or any other lower back or any other pain at all. It also only occurs once every few days and has been going on for about a month.Could these be stones from (say) the prostate? I have had a urine test and there was no indication of infection, I have also had a prostate examination and that was also satisfactory as were my PSA levels. Any ideas?

I suddenly stopped being able to use tampax after 22 years with no problems, also two doctors couldn't find my cervix for a smear test, when I've had no previous problems. The gynocologist, eventually managed the smear test and, also did an ultrasound and kidney scan. He concluded that everything's fine, I just have a short vagina. It shouldn't suddenly change though, I was wondering if it could be vaginal erosion, but wouldn't a gynocologist be able to see that? What else could it be?

have you tried atkins ?? this is the only diet that works for me as like you i have tried everything else but nothing else seems to work

I am following a low carb, high protein diet similar to the hardcomb diet. It is worth giving it a go as it is good and easy to follow and you will feel the difference. It is an alternative to low fat but yet you become so educated to food make up that you begin to look at the food in it's entirety and then you take notice of fat, carb ,sugar and fibre content. You will actually enjoy it and you need never be hungry. Good luck

My son had to be circumcised when he was 7. It was a long time ago and at the consultation I was in a bit of shock and didn't really take in what the doctor said. I had initially taken my son to the doctor as there was very occasionally blood in his urine. The bits I remember from the consultation (after any kidney problems were ruled out) are that my son had a skin condition, and if he wasn't circumcised he may get scar tissue which could cause problems later in life. I may be totally making this up but my ears heard some longer name for the condition and that it was abbreviated to PXO. I would really like to know if this is the same as the guy had who had the scar tissue in his urethra and/or the name of the condition.

because you've been getting back/abdominal pain and fevers, sounds to me like a kidney infection (pyelonephritis). Kidney infections may permanently damage your kidneys. if you look it up on google it will tell you everything you need to know.. but i'd suggest going to the doctor and saying that you think you have a kidney infection so they can have a look.

Ive only 1 kidney had 1 removed when i was about 8 yrs old im 24 now female.. My urine is dark and and wakin at night to use the loo alot i have pain in the left side were ive no kidney im weak and tired all the time.. Also have scarin to the kidney from alot of infection..

You have to go to the Dr. I also have had a kidney removed and the symptoms that you have described sound like a urine infection. You need to sort this out - you have only one kidney so look after it.

i am 21 years old/ female and have found that if i need to go to the toilet that i MUST go. If i hold it in it hurts my kidneys. I have also found that i have been getting a lot of urine infections as well. I know that in my family there are a lot of kidney problems but i am not to sure what they have been, my dad had a kidney removed- as i said previous i am not to sure why - should i be asking my parents from my family medical history as that this might be the cause of haven a week pelvic floor as well have having to go to the toilet all the time?

My five year old daughter was frequently ill since being born, it turned out she had urine infections and at the age of three and a half two kidney stones were found measuring 2 cm and 5 mm. Six months later she developed more kidney stones, they have grown to 4 mm and the doctor is hoping she will pass them. Is that so? Also her left kidney is small, but her right is ok? what could be wrong to cause this.

Hi, I have not a Kidney Stone, but have some discomfort in one of my Kidneys. It only happens now & again, but can be very painful, at times. Mainly the night, during sleep. I do have some discomfort, sometimes during the day. But this feels more like a internal bruise. It always is in the same kidney. Had test a longtime ago. (10years) showed nothing. Seems to happen once a month. I find it a little weird & should probably have more tests. But it's never got any better or worse. I put it down to dehydration, but think its odd, it's always the same Kidney.

I was around 24 when I started getting pain in my left side constantly. It was like a stabbing pain and I found myself always pressing in just below my ribcage to try to relieve the pain. I was diagnosed with a blocked kidney. This I was told was the reason for all the pain I was getting as the kidney was effectively blowing up like a balloon inside me constantly before slowly draining. I then had an operation to fix this. They told me they had found that the kidney had blown up and down so many times that they had to effectively shave off a lot of dead skin from my kidney. This meant that although my kidney remained, it was less than half the size it was originally. They also told me they had fixed the tube that was causing the problems, cutting and widening it. Within a few months I was back in for the same operation because of recurring pain but this time the doctors said they could not find anything wrong. After this though I then developed what I`ve been told is IBS. At first, I would be having a nice day and all of a sudden my stomach would feel as though it had just collapsed and I was rushing to the toilet. This used to take the pain away, just clearing my bowels although I got very bad sweats and very lethargic actually passing the motion. This now, does not take the pain away, in fact after each visit to the toilet I find that the pain gets worse and worse to the point it is so excruciating that I literrally conk out in bed. Its only after sleeping again that I then feel better. This has now totally ruined my life, I have no life, I cannot plan anything, Im scared to go anywhere, I have no energy, I sweat from head to toe EVERY time I fall asleep and cannot enjoy doing anything sporty or leisure like with my children for fear of what may happen to me. Just 2 months ago my wee boy nagged at me to take him to the local funfair and for once I thought I am going to stand up to this illness and do what I want for a change. I did go and went on a ride with my boy. I shouldnt have as within seconds I found myself uncontrollably sweating from head to toe, went pure white and was taken to the first aid room. Tests showed I had a urine infection and was told to go and see my doctor again. Further tests have now been done and it has been established that the kidney on my left hand side is blocking again. They still cannot explain how a blockage from my kidney is causing problems with my bowel, other than to say because it is all in the same area, they could affect each other. I am now awaiting an operation again on my kidney but am unsure if this is actually going to stop the problems from my bowel. I just want a normal life again . Can anyone help me?

Some of your symptoms and stories such as pain, lethargy, sweats, conking out, no life, unable to plan anything - I relate to ALL of these. Im not used to using these email pages and wondered if you could tell me after submitting your comment, do you get a reply back from this health page or embarrassing bodies OR is it just a page to express your comments and seek comments from other people. I would be interested in getting a reply from embarrassing bodies or reading replies from other comments. Thank you. I hope your situation improves.

my father had his removed about 2 years ago and seems to be fine. My grandad died from prostate cancer. I discussed family history with my GP and he said to forget about it until mid 50's! I note the links people have said with regard to painful kidneys. I have a pain in my left kidney area but unsure if its my kidney or an old sporting injury. Is there a link with kidney pain? should I force my GP to do a blood test? Im 36

im 18 and i have suffered regulary from cystitis for the past two years, i have been to my gp over 15 times bt still got nowhere. i have tried everything such as cranberry juice, 6 pints of water a day etc. i recently had a cystoscpoy where the surgeon also stretched my tubes to try and help the problem but still i am no better. this problem is really making me depressed. i often come home from college and i have stopped going out with my friends due to it, i have a great boyfriend but avoid sex incase it makes it worse, i really feel like it is ruining my life. i do have a duplex kidney (one kidney splits into two) and i have been told this can make problems worse. does anyone have any advice it would be much appreciatd.

I'm 16 and I've only had 3 that have been about 6 months apart each time :S I used to have to take quite a lot of medication when I was younger due to kidney problems I don't know if that has anything to do with it..

You have to go to the Dr. I also have had a kidney removed and the symptoms that you have described sound like a urine infection. You need to sort this out - you have only one kidney so look after it.

i was in hospital with a blocked kidney due to puj and had a case of bowel incontinence is this due to the kidney condition does anyone know
