im 16, female. Being a teenager i eat a lot. But for some reason i don't put weight on, i lose it! In 1/2 weeks i can easily lose half a stone. I swim 3 times a week for my local club but every other day i don't do a fat lot to be honest. Im actually really lazy. I have phases where i have no appetite for 2weeks to a month and i barely eat anything just live off water, then the next thing i know is that i just cant stop eating. But then it changes back into me having no appetite. It really worries my parents and friends just how little i occasionally eat when im passing through these phases and how much weight i lose constantly. What do i doooo?

Hi I have had weight loss surgery and lost 9 stone 9lb's, however since losing the weight, I now have excess skin on my stomach and due to weight loss on my breasts they are very saggy and to add insult to injury have inverted nipples which seem to have got worse since the weight loss, I am unsure whether or not to apply to my GP as I don't know if the NHS would allow this.

I've been on the pill for the last at least 7 years, and I've been having unprotected sex with this guy for the last 6 months. Turns out he's got someone else too and she's 4 months pregnant :( obviously I'm gone but I'm worried I'm carrying his child too. I finished the pill for my weeks break on the 11th December, I had sex with him on the 14th and my period came on the 15th (I only just found out about the other girl, wouldn't have touched him with a barge pole otherwise!). The last few days I've had a complete loss of appetite, or should I say I'm hungry but the second food is near me I wanna be sick, the only thing I wanna eat are oranges! I've had sharp pains in my lower abdomen and a 'period back and stomach ache' and feel as though my period is about to start any second even though it's not due for another week. I'm so tired but I can't sleep, but I'm not sure if all this is because of my 'situation' with him

hey i suffer from ulcerative colitis and i had all them symptoms when i first got diagnosed but it did take a while for the doctors to pick it up, could be something else but on a similar line but you seriously need to go back to doctors and explain and demand something more to be done as its not nice feeling like that!! ..

I can go a month or longer without having a bowel movement. I went to my G.P and he referred me to the hospital, I have had the camera looking at my hole bowel, they took a biopsy due to finding small White spots but came back clear. I then had the muscles tested and it came back fine. I have been going to the hospital for over a year now every 4 months and for is period of time he has told me to tKe 6 movicol, 20ml of lactose and 1 tablet (can't remember the name, it's 5mg and it's relatively new) I have to take all this on a daily basis, he told me even if I go if have still to continue taking this everyday, I stopped after taking this after 8 months as I don't feel it's making a difference. I now take at least 6 sen a max strength and at least 10 Dulcolax at the same time (Which take over 12 hours to work, even though i take them at the same time) every 2-3 days as the pains return in my tummy become really sore. This has caused me to lose my appetite, as I think the less I eat the less often the pains will occur. Due to these issues I have lost weight and I am concerned about stopping taking the tablets and getting my appetite back as I will put all my weight plus more on. Can anyone help please?

I am a 19 year old male my symptoms for nearly the past year is that i have hair loss and hair thinning but it is accompanied by a daily itch on my scalp especially on the top of my scalp and sometime it intensifies so much causes me to feel very depressed and whenever i try to relive the itch it pains. Also when my scalp is itching my scalp appears red ton the whole top of my scalp. i have been to my doctor, a dermotologist and a qualified tricologist at the institute of tricology and they all say different things to me. my dermotologist say's i have folliculitus and androgennic Alopecia but the ticologist say's that i do NOT have male pattern baldness as i am also have thinning and hair loss on the sides of my scalp and on the back but says that i have telegon effluviam. This is all well an said but they don't seem to deal with the scalp pain and tenderness that i am going through. On another note whenever there an itch there is hair loss as well, i also seem to be losing hair from my eye brows and eye lashes and my eyes seem to always itch and sting whenever i try touch them after i have touched my hair. I have also been told that my hair seems to look very crimpled as well whereby it looks unhealthy and that some hair are easily broken if thats any help. on another note when looking at my hair strands as one does when being worried about hair loss my hair is noticibly thinner near the root tip then the top og the hair strand is this normal?

Crohns disease, like any disease, has varying degrees of severity. I have 'suffered' for 9 yrs. But for anyone who is newly diagnosed please dont assume the worst. The drugs that are used to treat crohns (not cure, no cure as yet) can be effective. My symptoms were, increase frequency in opening my bowels. This was strange to me as I had suffered all my life with constipation, very painful abdomenal cramps that would normally ease once I had gone to the toilet, tiredness and loss of appetite. The loss of appetite, and obviously inturn weight loss, was due to the cramps happening soon after I had eaten any food, so if I didnt eat food then I wouldnt get the pain. I have read literature on this condition and I understand there are many symptoms that can help diagnose this condition but only internal examination can confirm it. My sister also has this disease and her symptoms are similar but not exactly the same. Im not sure whether this comment will help anyone from worrying needlessly whether they have this condition but heres hoping. Btw I had half my bowel removed 14 months back and for now, life is normal, my bowels arent but ive been pain free since recovering from the op, so obviously to me that is fantasic.

One theory about 'fat belly' is that it is a consequence of too much carbohydrate, which turns to fat in the liver, hence it enters the bloodstream around the waist. To combat this, just have sufficient low glycaemic carbs to fuel your activities, and sate your appetite with protein and fat. Alcohol will stunt any weight loss; it is burned first for energy because there is nowhere to store alcohol in the body.

Hi, I also have been suffering from the same symptoms. Belching after I eat, no energy, bouts of diarrhoea, two instances when I didn't make it to the toilet, loss of appetite, pain in the abdomen area and nausea especially if I am late to eat a meal. Peppermint tictacs have been my saviour and has helped ease my upset stomach. Get yourself checked for parasites. My symptoms started after a holiday in the USA in 2007 and I while we were there I visited Mexico where I had some to eat and drink. I live in New Zealand.

I'm actually writing for my mum she has not been well for around six weeks she is constantly bloated, loss of appetite which has made her loose weight feels worse in the morning and feels better throughout the day. She has had tests blood tests and they've come back normal she has to wait till January to have a MRI scan on her small intestine but suffers terribly with anxiety which I think is making all of this seem worse has anyone else got or had these symptoms and could shed some light on. Please my mum is my best friend and she so worried I just want to help.

I am a sixteen year old girl and recently my relationship with food has got quite bad. I go through phases of loosing my appetite (which is normal for teenager; I've checked with my G.P). When I do loose my appetite, I'm glad. It's almost as if I WANT to as it feels good to know that I don't want to eat, therefore I won't resulting in me possibly loosing weight. When I do regain my appetite, I feel disappointed, as if all the purging has gone to waste and I feel so guilty after eating anything. Then I start to panic, and I just want to get the food out of me. The idea of making myself sick to achieve this has slowly become more appealing and less scary. I really don't want to go down that road and I was wondering where I could get advice? I have really low self esteem and confidence also; I can't stand to look at myself in the mirror without feeling hate and disgust. All I think about every minute of everyday is my weight, and how I'd like to be someone else, and how I could avoid my next meal. It's slowly taking over my life, and it restricts me having a normal social life (I can't go out for meals etc.)

omg, as I am reading different comments here I realise we are so many girls that have almost the same problems... and what scares me is that the ones that don't have them, don't even understand us and it's impossible for them to help us... What should we doooo???? It's terrible to cope with these issues on our own...

I had h pylori in October and this was discovered after a trip to Turkey whereby I cam home unwell with sickness and diarreah also constant burping, and loss of appetite. I have never experienced anything like this. I have never been one to burp and alway enjoyed my food. Now as soon as I eat or drink I get a reflux motion with severe burping. The test at the hospital showed no acid reflux but GAS in the gullet. I have been given anti acid tablets all the same and referred to a dietician. Any help would be good

Hi I hope you can help me. Sometimes I feel spaced out and a rapid loss of memory. I have had 11 lots of blood taken and they all came back all clear. I also sent a urine sample away and that was clear too. I spoke to my aunty and she has the same symptoms and has had them for 4 years now. When I feel out of it if someone asks me to get them something then I sit and stare and try process what they said but I can't. When I have these episodes I lose my appetite and don't understand people very well. When I do get the episodes I feel really dizzy like being extremely drunk but I don't stumble or fall at all. I hope you can help me.

Hi! I'm a 17 year old girl and I just started having sex with my boyfriend of 6 months, we are both each others firsts. For intercourse we did use protection every time (not the oral part however.) Last week I started experiencing aches and pains, dizziness, head aches, loss of appetite and fatigue, later on during that weekend I developed a sore throat. My lymph nodes are not swollen but I am a bit of a hypochondriac and I may have spent a little too much time on google and convinced myself that I have HIV. I won't have the chance to go to my youth clinic to get tested this week and I am freaking out so if someone could shed some light on this for me that would be awesome. Thanks!

my husband has problems but I have difficulty persuading him to get the doctors!! Every morning he goes to the toilet and has loose bowel movements - up to 5 times before he leaves the house (in an hour) and the first couple of times he says clumps of blood come out instead of poo. He was diagnosed as having a stomach ulcer yrs ago so avoids spicy foods, but that hasn't bothered him for some time now (no pain) he also smokes and drinks and lately he is eating less food than normal - not sure if it because he doesn't want to be on the loo so much or loss of appetite!!! He knows he should go to the doctors but he doesn't like ours due to them being very slow to pick up on things (nearly 3 yrs to diagnose my endometriosis). Any ideas what this could be? he thinks maybe piles - i'm not too sure.

It's a shame that when you struggle to get the money together to go privately you are then left in limbo unable to get nhs help for fills or defills or assistance with nutrition or advice. My nearest hospital was over an hour away and so busy on a Saturday I have to book 6 weeks or more in advance and pay over £130 each fill or advice session. It's very difficult to know what's best when you aren't losing weight. I have maintained over 3,stone weight loss over the last 7 years which means I can buy clothes in "normal" shops or supermarkets but was hoping to be more in the 12 to size 14 range than 16 to 18 essentially still seen as overweight. I have watched my food intake in the main and exercise regularly but my band doesn't help at all. It's now no different to before I had it. Sometimes it catches me out and I am sick but it's infrequent and only an embarrassing hindrance rather than a weight loss tool. It has never helped curb my appetite but just made me feel pain and a choking sensation. Not pleasant. Any non bander who says it's the cheats easy way out knows NOTHING. It's hard work and erratic. What you may be able to eat one day might be impossible another. Not much fun at a dinner party when you feel like you are about to throw up and have to get up from table for the third time!!! Think long and hard before you embark on a band and only if there are health issues.

They can be. The small white worms are called pinworms and are airborne as eggs and inhaled or transferred from fingernails ( usually from scratching) and ingested by mouth accidentally. They are sticky little buggers that are fairly hard to get rid of. One if the signs are incontinence, irritability, itchy anus, loss of appetite and worms in the stools. Contact the doctor and they can prescribe a pinworm treatment (it is usually best to treat the entire family as reinfection is very easy and spreading is VERY easy. Short nails for a time and frequent hand washing will aid in stopping reinfestatipn. Hope this helps!
