Conditions with symptom: 'loss of sex drive'
Hi, I am 43 years old, married with a 21 months old baby boy. 4 years before falling pregnant, back in 2004, I noticed a huge loss of sexual drive. Then I also noticed that I was lactating and because both my husband and I were trying for a baby, my GP put me on a course of hormone so that my level of prolactin could be brought down. Our GP also explained that this high level of prolactin could cause a loss of libido and to make sure there was no tumour in my brain, I had a MRI wich appeared normal. 6 years later my libido is not getting any better especially now that I am breasffeeding. My relationship with my husband is at a all time low and I have no sexual drive at all. My questions to you is 1)what level of prolactin should I have before considering taking a hormone treatment to bring down the level of prolactin 2)is there any other treatment to bring back my sexual drive? 3) will counselling help? thank you Abbi
i am only 20 and even tho i love my boyfriend and am very attracted to him im finding that i have a very low sex drive..when we on the rare occasion have sex or forplay i enjoy it but i never feel in the mood to start off with even though we are very affectionate is there anything to improve my sex drive?my sex drive has always been low .. no matter what we try.
i have been told that zinc can increase your sex drive. don't know if it will work for you but it is surely a relatively easy treatment to try. hope things improve for you soon.
Hi I have had weight loss surgery and lost 9 stone 9lb's, however since losing the weight, I now have excess skin on my stomach and due to weight loss on my breasts they are very saggy and to add insult to injury have inverted nipples which seem to have got worse since the weight loss, I am unsure whether or not to apply to my GP as I don't know if the NHS would allow this.
I gradually lost my sex drive and all desire ending up with being sexually in the pre-puberty position. I was diagnosed as having an underactive thyroid and given testosterone 80 mg and levothyroxine 100 mg I am now on 120 mg of testosterone plus anti depressants Venlafaxine 37.5 quick release for evenings and 75 mg slow release in the morning. while I have started to regain some sex drive a long lasting erection or sex drive is rare it has improved. I now have incontinence and while my hernias have been treated I still have gall stones that so far have not caused me pain. I was checked and cleared for prostrate cancer but the incontinence is still not clearing up or improving.
Hi, I am a 24 year old woman and I have had no sex drive and struggle to get lubricated for over 2 years. I have had full hormonal tests which have all been normal and I have a happy relationship. I have been on the pill before and the injection but have been off it for nearly a year with no improvement in sex drive. The problems came about from when I went on the injection but never improved. It's really affecting my life but I have no idea where the problem could be!?
In September I had the contraceptive implant fitted and ever since then my sex drive has dropped to absolutely nothing. It is causing problems in my relationship as I would like nothing more than to feel aroused and want to have sex but I don't. I am 18 and my partner is 19 and we have been together almost two years. We don't know what to do, should I have the implant removed? Is it the implant causing this change in my sex drive?
i always used to have a high sex drive and frequent unwanted erections. However this year everything has completely flipped, my sex drive is gone and I now struggle to get an erection most of the time - My body isn't interested even on the odd ocasion that I am. Oddly, morning erections are still strong. Im not sure what to do about this or who to speak to, as a 24 year old man I'm a little nervous talking to my friends. Any advice or help in the right direction would be great!

We have 2 children aged 6 and 3 but for the past 5 years I have suffered with re-ocurring depression. With this my sex drive is none existant. I have took anti-depressants about 4 times ranging from 3 months to 2 years. Even thought now I am no longer on them my sex drive has not improved. Please help as my husband keeps thinking that I am neglecting him and do not care his feelings but I just cant get my head around even having sex never mind enjoying it :-(

Hi I'm 26 and been with my boyfreid for over 3yrs now. I have totally lost my desire for sex and it has been at least a year. Sometimes if there's a lot of oral towards me I can push myself into feeling something but it never leads to intercourse because it always painful. However I just have no desire and dread the day my boyfriend can't be patient anymore. It's really putting pressure on our relationship. I've spoken to the doctor and nurse several times but they always turn me away and say it's a relationship problem or we are not doing enough foreplay which is why they think the sex is painful. I used to have such a high sex drive and now there's nothing there. Please please help me. I can't stand it anymore. I'm 26! Low sex drive shouldn't be an issue! :(
Your doctor and nurse are ignorant. Look at the programme of 26th June ( a young woman had suffered painful sex for a year, was told it was psychological, of course it wasn't). I was told the same thing repeatedly all my life and I only found a cure a few years ago. I'm appalled that after all these years medics are still unaware of a vaginal condition that can be treated with hormonal cream, usually only given to menopausal women. Change your doctor, ask to see a specialist. Not only will the cream deal with the pain, as it changes your hormones it will re-activate your desire. It's worked for me - I'm 71!!!!
