I have a question regarding foot blisters. I know someone who has a blister on the back of each foot. It started out as a normal blister but after 7 years the blister has become very hard and feels like bone. When the foot is upright its like a big lump sticking out of the back of the foot. Like I said its very hard, like bone. What advice is there available for such a problem? Is it something that will need operating on?

Hi ! At the end of January this year, somebody stood on my foot in a club with heels on. For a couple of weeks, my foot was painful and very bruised, however I could walk on it and move my toes so I didn't think I needed to get it checked out. Having previously breaking my ankle and leg, it was obvious to me that my foot was perfectly mobile, despite the bruising. Now ( 3 months after), I still have bruising down the side of my foot and pain if I apply pressure to it or wear tight fitting shoes. I also dance a lot and am experiencing pain in my foot after I have been dancing for a while. Is it worth( or too late )getting my foot checked now? And do you think anything even would be able to be done to it if there was a problem, due to how long it's been left? Thanks for reading!

You stop growing at 21 unless you have a growth problem where you dont stop growing I am 6 foot 5 so youay be taller than that.

I have a lump/growth under my toenail of the big toe at the top right corner of the left foot. It is very tender and is sore all the time. I cannot wear normal shoes as the top of the shoe puts pressure on the area and causes great discomfort. The nail is growing normal from the bed but is raised at a 45 degree angle over the growth. I also have an infection on the other side of the toenails edge as it is being depressed into the flesh causing it to be ingrown. Using fucidin cream on the infection to keep it at bay but not sure what to do for the lump/growth. I keep the free edge of the nail trimmed to below the growth so it does not grow over and at an angle. Doctor said I will have to have the nail removed but that seems a tad drastic. I would like to leave that option as a last resort. Would it be possible to have the lump/growth removed and not the nail or would the nail need to be removed to treat the lump/growth?

i had the same thing at the age of 16, its cause by some sort of trauma to the toe which grows of the bone upwards, the only cure is the have the lump removed which does entaile having the nail removed. its a simple operation which is done with you still awake, they just numb your feet so you can feel anything. i was told that my nail would not grow back but it did and 14 years later i still have a nail. id get it done soon than later or its just going to kep growing

I have a lump on the right hand side of my right foot and puss + blood seems to be coming out of it.i went to my doctor about this and he said its just an infection.ive had this for about 6 months now and its stopping me playing sports i dont no how to get rid of this .im 14

that sounds to me like you have ingrowing toe nail, i had that on both of my big toes when i was 10 it was really painful, i suggest you go back and tell your doctor about it and how long its been there. I had to have both of my big toe nails removed but it was such relief and it really doesn't both me. Your doctor should then refer you to get it removed if it is an ingrowing nail.

my left foot has started peeling underneath all my toes(not in between them) and also underneath on the top half of the foot, i've noticed the peeling for a few months and didn't think anything of it, but just recently it has become sore and very smelly, it really smells cheesy and i refuse to take my sock of when my fiance or anyone is present, yet my other foot is perfectly normal.what is it??

I am a 15 year old girl who has suffered from bunions most of my life. Around 15 months ago I consulted the NHS about my problem, which I later had an operation in which they sorted my feet out by removing the bunion and re-aligning my tose... However they only did one foot of the two. The foot that they opperated on has left two scars around 10cm and 4cm. After my surgery my foot was fine but I still have a lot of redness left on my foot where there is still a lump on the side of my right foot. On my left foot that I haven't had operated on I still have a bunion that wont seem to go down, it's at the same point as my left foot's was. Is there anything I can do to sort out my feet?

I had tailors bunion surgery nearly 8 weeks ago, at first I was happy with my results but my foot was very swollen so I couldn't see the remaining lump as much. I am actually in more pain now when I walk than before the surgery and not in the same place. I don't know if it will go down I am disappointed as post op was awful. The hospital only changed my dressing once as well I had to go to my gp and ask. Are you having you're other foot done and are you still in pain? My op is next month I'm having doubts whether I want to feel like this and still have a lump.

Hey all! I don't exactly know if i have a bunion or something similar to it, but please help! My foot looks like it has a bunion but its quite big and throbs to walk on. It is like a huge lump that covers most of that area. My big toe also sticks up along with it and when i walk all my weight is transferred to the right side of the foot. It makes walking difficult, i can only wear certain shoes, and my foot looks deformed and structured wrong ! Please help! Chelsie x

Hi Chelsie, Here is a link to more info about how bunions form and how to stop the progression and relieve the pain! They are often due to muscle imbalances around the hips, knees and feet as a result of the way we walk and move in this modern world. http://pelvichealthphysio.blogspot.ca/2014/05/healthy-feet-healthy-pelvic-floor.html

I am 44 and i have deformed right foot size 2 and a size 6 left foot. I have operations on the right foot to try and straighten foot and toes but it has not worked. My right leg is very week and thinner than the left. The left leg and foot is my life saver as it keeps me upright and walking. I also have a curved spine! SHOULD I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH CP BEFORE NOW?? For the last 2 years my left foot is hurting at the ball of my foot when standing and walking like a stabbing pain and then the foot goes numb and I can't move I became paralysed to a point trying to move the foot leg to the nearest seat. I have been to hospital and they have said I have CP I have never been told this before?? What do I do?? The said I have to get a operation now on the left leg to stretch tendon??

Hello, I need help. I have had a foot complaint for around 7 years now and it started with intense itching around the little toe on my right foot (only affects one foot) of course the first thought is athletes foot but I do not get a build up of fungal. Over the years this has spread to all the other toes and all along the sole of my foot. My whole foot itches so bad I cannot describe it! And the skin is so dry. However it does not have the sponge effect as people have mentioned here. Also some of my nails have been effected having a yellowish colour and grow ridged and brittle. This is horrible for me and can never build up the courage to go to the doctors. I really want my foot back! Please help give me some idea of what this could be.

This sounds exactly the same as I have - Have you had any response as to what it could be?

I have the. Same problem I don't know how to. Make it better

The main reason verrucae are painful is because they form a lump of dense skin, which is hard, and if this occurs under a part of the foot that you put a lot of pressure on (the heels, or balls of the feet, or toes) you will feel this when you walk. Over time, continually walking on a hard lump causes increasing pain - Just try taping something like half a dried chickea to the bottom of your foot and walk around on it - it's not too bad initially, but over time it will get worse, and worse, and eventually you won't be able to walk. Most treatments try to reduce this lump (the verruca) using acids or freezing, however, if your verruca is painful it's worthwhile remembering that it is just a lump and you can make it less thick by rubbing it down. Take something clean and abrasive and rub it down. It will feel better. You may need to file it down once or twice a week, and it's by no means a substitute for professional advice, but if you are in pain then it should help a great deal.

i started with one veruca on the bottom of my big toe and now i have... Let me see... 5 on my big toe, 1 on the ball of my foot just under my big toe, 1 on the ball of my foot just underneath my big toe and one in the crease between the ball of my foot and my second toe. They do not cause me any pain and because they are on the underside of my foot they are not noticable. They are just very annoying and i would like to get rid of them before they spread onto the heel or onto the other foot. I have tried bazuka gel but it didnt work and made my skin peel which didnt make my foot look very attractive, is there something that does not do that and will keep my feet looking nice so i can wear sandles as summer is not far away?

Firstly I really must know which foot it was my right foot not left :)whoops. I am sat here now two days after surgery on my Right foot, I am feeling fine with minimal pain and have got pain relief to take. I have a shoe to protect the bandaged foot and crutches to help me get around. I am under no illusion my foot is going to take a long time to heal but I can get around. Hope everyone is doing great those who had there op or are looking into having a bunion to be done.

hello i am heavy on my feet i get through shoes like theres no tomorrow I've been through shoe within 4 weeks or less is there any advice

I suffer bunions [69 year old male]. The nhs. arranged to remove both of them at manchester royal july 09 [mr i fayyaz].I had the right foot only done [thank god] they cut open my foot big toe to instep and cut between my big and second toe.cut off the bony growth broke the long bone in my foot formed it in a sort of arch and put stapels in it to hold it till the fracture healed. They stitched up and dressed it with a C cast put me in recovery gave me some crutches sent me home [10 hours total] so far so good. after 2weeks I returned to hospital as my foot was discharging and swollen I was given anti bio,s told back next week. did that same again did that. eventually they xrayed aug 14 and found that staple they had put in was hanging out and they would have to remove them. The earliest it could be done sept 4 that was duly done and was it painful.I thought for a time I would lose my foot.[one way to get rid of bunions I suppose] 5 different courses of anti bio,s nurse to change my dressings and inactiverty [gained nearly 2 stone]I am just about now recovered but my toe is still pointing NNE the lump has gone from the side of my foot to the top the scars look like a road map and I cant walk very far. and there is still the other one to do.

I have 3 verrucas on my feet,2 on my right foot and 1 on my left foot.I started off realising I had a big verruca on my right foot,I checked the other foot and found another one (it was smaller) and a few weeks later I spotted one on the side of my big toe on my right foot. I think it might have spread from one of my verrucas. My big verruca is painful when I touch it or walk on it for too long,I'm going to try duct tape and hopefully it works!

A few years ago when i was about 9 i had a verruca develop just below my big toe on my right foot. As time went on nothing happened to it so my mum started trying bazooka verruca. I think this is what led to layers of dead skin forming over it. The dead skin piled high up until i had a great big lump of skin there. It was painful to walk at times but luckily most of the time i felt no pain. I do remember it being hard to put my socks on and it being quite itchy a lot. At the time i was still in primary school and went swimming every week with school. It was embarrassing to have all my friends see the unsightly right foot. September the 14th 2004. I believe that was the date i finally ridded my foot of the verruca. The dead skin caught against something and lifted a little bit, allowing me to pick it off. This might have been slightly unwise but after a good while i managed to yank it off, leaving a tender crater in my foot. This crater healed over the coming month or so and looking at my foot now you would never know :)

I'm 16 and when I was 13 I remember getting a bunch of verruca's on my foot. I only got shot of them last year but everything I tried didn't work! So I had my foot frozed and it got rid of them. After that, I started getting an ithcy foot in the exact area where I had the verruca's and its extremly itchy. When I sweat, or when i've been wearing socks I feel like I need to rub my foot across the carpet to stop it itching. But after I do this, blind spots start appearing afterwards and they're really itchy and my skins all broken. The itchyness is just not bareable at all! Is this athletes foot and if so how can i get rid of it?
