hi i have this too and its so embarrasing its getting warm and i wear polo neck tops, i was giving steroid cream which helped the scars abit but hasnt stopped the spots

I am an 18 year old girl. I had the nuss procedure on my chest 2 years ago. My chest is quite unusual because on set of ribs did not grow enough causing my sternum to twist up to 90 degrees. Due to crowding of my heart and lungs along with shortness of breath and chest pains, they actually used 2 bars rather than one to fix it. I can breath now and have no more pains, but one side of my chest is still noticeably more sunken in than the other. I'm wondering if there is any non surgical possibilities.

I have a similar case with both Pectuus Carinatum and Excavatum causing my sternum to twist as well so one side of my ribcage is raised while the other is sunken. I had one nuss bar around the age of 15/16 but it worsened it. I am not sure there are any non surgical ways around it. Now 21 I have chosen to have another surgery, similar to the Ratvich where cartilage and bone is removed and the sternum is twisted. As well as this I will be seeing a plastic surgeon after my surgery.

i have had severe chest pain now for several months, I have been on the heart monitor that was clear, i had chest xray of my chest wich showed two grey patches on my left lung, my doctor sent me for pysio on my chest wich made this pain worse i went back to him and he told me there was nothing more he could do and to basically go away and live with it i have had no pain relief from them what so ever is this normal?

I am a 36 year old male, who as a teenager suffered from this condition along with being labelled as intersex or a true hermaphrodite. I had surgery for my chest at a hospital in Southampton and they cocked up by taking too much away. I also had lumps in the breast as well, I have had more surgery on my chest since in Swansea. But there is no difference, I will only take my top off in my own back garden. I would love to be able to take my top off in public and to be able to go swimming. Please can you help to improve the look of my chest.

Don't worry! I also have very dark hairs all over my body and I know from past experience that t was probably not the best idea to shave that area, but you can still fix it! What you have to do now is, just wait for the hair to grow back out (should take between 3-9 days?), then just wax that area. Waxing, while not permanent, does pull out the hair from the root, while shaving just trims it down and leaves a little stub. The waxing takes the hair clean out and leaves you smooth and dot-less. Remember to put a soothing cream on the waxed skin afterwards so the area isn't irritated. Good luck :)

Hi im 20 years old and i have always had one breast larger than the other, i also have always had one side of my chest bone stick out more than the other. recently my chest bones seems to be more and more prominant and people are noticing. My left breast seems to be gettin bigger and my right seems to be gettin smaller. When i had my daughter (2yrs old now) i went up to a size D-E and so they aren as full as they used to be anyway. i try finding bras that look ok but while my left breast buldges out my right breast is way to small for the bras im wearing iv tried B cup bras and i get the bulgde, C cup bra and you can see the bra coming away from my chest on the right. Im not concrened about it as in health wise, or should i be?? very paranoid people maybe noticing, iv resorted to buying boobtube tops as i can wear my bikini and no one notices my breasts just my chest bone instead.

hi im having the same problem but i am 13 and it shows alot and you ge stretchmarks mine is also on the left side:S

My chest goes in nearly three inches at the base of my curved sternum and my ribs are completely misshapen, especially on the left. You can also see my heart beating between my ribs. I thought I'd always had this condition but then I found some photos of me at primary school age on the beach and my chest was normal so it must have developed as I grew. I did always try to hide it in the changing rooms at school because a few people made fun or asked questions which I couldn't answer like "why is your chest like that?" Oddly, I've had two girlfriends who'd had previous boyfriends with the condition and so didn't mind it, though I was still slightly embarrassed by it. One of them even suggested that she could drink wine out of it! Whilst living with people at uni, I decided to make a fresh start of it and stop hiding it. The significant thing, when you leave school (here's an important one for the 'cool kids' out there) is that no one really cares about anything outside of school or if they do then you needed spend any time around them. I think learning to accept your own body is better than trying to change it. If you can accept it then everyone else can and if they don't, why should you care? I'm now married and expecting my first child. My wife doesn't mind it and I practice martial arts with little or no problems apart from one day when I developed chest pains after a long training session. I went to the doctor who got the nurse to do an ECG and the report said that there wasn't enough blood getting to my heart. I then went to the hospital and they kept me under observation for a few hours taking a further three ECGs and then decided that there was nothing wrong. They think that the first ECG was a misreading because of the electrode placement not being ideal on my oddly shaped chest. It might be useful if the NHS passed potential problems like this around with their equipment or if/when the staff are trained (my wife's a nurse and has just been trained on a machine which she's been using since she qualified several years ago!) as I found it a very stressful day, which isn't ideal for someone with a suspected heart condition.

Stop drinking drinks ,beer even natural juice and just run 45min a day .....I myself had huge boobs on both upper and lower part of chest but my doctor advised me to eat vegetable and forget the sweets ..so I stopped eating lunch only ate breakfast and dinner which really made my chest fat lesser but when my lower chest fat was left I started a to play football as I'm good at it 2hrs each day plus my extreme diet made me loss by boobs especially by drinking green tea (jasmine,or any. Else) so I say it is not impossible to get rid of man breast as i had breast about 8cm in diameter I thought it can only be removed by surgery and I was very scared and most of the boys at school made fun of me last 2 years ago but know i have more muscular chest which Is straight just in 1yr 2mth...I hope u follow this advice .......by the way of you are going to gym start doing bench press up and push ups 30min a day will help your moobs to reduce.....all the best

I am 22 and I have asymmetrical pectus excavatum which means that the dip in my chest is worse on the right side of my chest. I had the 'nuss procedure' when i was 18 which improved my chest slightly although not enough to say that i was satisfied. The procedure involves inserting a titanium bar into the chest and cranking it round to 'pop' the chest into place. The bar remains in the chest for about a year. Unfortunately mine harboured an infection and had to be removed with all results reversed. Following this i had Bio Alcamid inserted much like the fluid used in the video clip. The results were far better and although my chest isn't perfect it is far less noticeable. Contact your GP to be referred to a specialist. The younger you are the more likely you are to get results as the musculascelital parts of your body are more responsive to manipulation.

I'm 35. I have had a reduction 14 years ago. I was taken down from a 34i ( the bra was too small for me). My breasts have grown back to a 38g. I have got very misshapen breast which I hate with a passion. I suffered with a severe infection 8 weeks after the surgery. I have also had to have 2 lumps removed and the one breast reduced again. I suffer terrible pain with my back. I have also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia so the pain is worse. Is there anything I can do.

I've had a misshapen upper lip from a keloid since I was in an accident as a child, and it's pretty much ruined my life by destroying every bit of my self confidence. I've been made fun of, I literally don't know how to smile. Maybe a bit of a grimace. When I finally worked up the courage to ask a doctor, when I was around 30, about plastic surgery options, she laughed at me then said not to bother, since there's nothing that can be done that wouldn't make it worse. As I get older, it looks worse. I don't ever expect any help about it, but I felt a need to say all this "out loud" here on the internet.

I'm 38 years old and have hated my breasts since I was about 14 /15. Tonight I found out they have a name! Not only are they this tubular shape, they're also small - I am a 34aa. I've always said it looks like they were made in Petite Filous pots! I joke, but I'm quite depressed about it. Seeing this programme gave me a small glimmer of hope, but I think it's unlikely our cash strapped NHS would help. So many of us on here with the same problem. Well done on the weight loss, Melanie, so sorry you can't get it done now but be proud of what you've achieved. Misshapen sisters of the world unite!

hey there, i was late developing and i didn't get my 1st period until i was 16 and didn't really have much going on in the chest department either. i am now 20 and i have a rather large chest in less than 4 years.... enjoy having smaller chest, seriously... you have to carry them around all your life so make the most of not having them. i have serious stretch marks and pain in my back and neck and its very uncomfortable. i know what its like to be 15 and want a chest but just enjoy being a teenager and it will come when your ready :)

i unfortunately have a funnel chest as you would call it and mine is pretty deep. it is really effecting me with self confidence and it also leaves my chest tight sometimes. i would like nothing better but to have a normal chest and would like to know how. i also have a heart murmer/echoe. will this effect whether i can have it or not?

I have suffered from psoraisis in my scalp for as long as I can remember (now 44) with the only respite from the use of chinese medicine which caused my periods to stop (so stopped that) and during pregnancies. Over the last few years it started in my finger nails and then big toe nails which can be painful. I keep my toe nails short as they are quite misshapen. It had cleared in my scalp with the use of ActiveSkin cream and shampoo from Natural Skincare Factory in Aberdeen. But has recently reappeared to varying degrees - seems to depend a lot on stress and tiredness.

Hi, I'm a 28 year old male and I have a concave chest. I dont have PE or rotational scilosis. My concave chest was caused by my elbow interfering with my chest plate during birth development. I can fit my right elbow in my chest cavity perfectly. As for my breathing, I'm fine. I work a very physically demanding job and I'm a smoker. I hope this can help anyone who is concerned about their condition. No need to panic. Just because you have a concave chest doesn't mean you have a genetic illness or need corrective surgery. As for those with a condition that requires surgery, you have my sympathy and support. Best of luck to ya.

I am 36 with two kids, my breasts were barely A before nursing and now barely AA after nursing. I don't even have anything left in my breast, feels like the little breast tissue I had were sucked out with breastmilk too. Anyway, I am quite frustrated and discouraged with my absolutely flat chest. Even my husband has bigger chest than me (he is a skinny guy). I want to say I feel the pain of all those flat chest women out there and a bit relieved when I see the comments above, know that I am not the only one with flat chest. For normal days I wear padded bra, my biggest problem is wearing swimsuit. What can I do to make my chest look not so flat with swim suit?

I have had exactly the same problem! Last year, I found a Modbe brand tankini top that has a lightly padded cup & is rouched (vertically) across the bust. I love it! The best swimsuit I've found that makes me look like I have some sort of bust :). You could also check out Hapari swimsuits, I believe they have "pockets" that you can insert water-wearable pads to add some to your bust. Good luck!

Hi, the pain I had in my chest went from my diaphragm upwards and was like an ache that spread right across my chest. I would sometimes get sharp pain too that would go through my chest up towards my shoulder area. The other thing that used to happen was an indigestion type feeling and food would repeat on me a lot. No disrespect to your specialist but I don't think they always understand what it's like. When I first seen mine he said he doubted it was endo as it wouldn't cause pain other than when I had my period. I think that sometimes they think we are being irrational about symptoms that we associate with an illness we think we may have. That's all I can say is that since my surgery, despite still having some pain, the pain in my chest has gone.

I'm a 17 year old girl. I have pectus carinatum. The middle bone of my chest sticks out in the centre of my chest and my left side of the chest is sunken in. I feel that it has gotten worse over the years. I would like to know what I could do about it. I'm very self conscious about it and so I don't wear any thing low cut or even swimwear. is there any surgery available and what is involved?

Hi i'm a 21 year old girl and I have a mix of both excavatum and carinatum I found out about it when I was around 15. I've since had the Nuss procedure with one bar for two years and I am soon going to have a more invasive surgery as it wasn't successful in my case. I felt similar to you and still dont feel confident enough to wear swimwear. I was also referred to a plastic surgeon as my Pectus may not ever be corrected completely. You should be able to see your local GP who should refer you to the nearest hospital who specialises in Pectus. I hope this helps you and anyone else! :)

My daughter had severe caranatum. Joe at Pectus Services is the best and I highly recommend him. She wore a brace he designed for a year and her chest is perfect. He can help. Her procedure was done at a younger age but I'm sure he can help you or offer guidance. Good Luck. You can find Pectus services online. Check it out.

Hello I am 14 and going through puperty, I believe I have an opposite to a Funnel Chest it happens to be called a Pectus Carinatum which means the chest bone - sternum sticks out, It has knocked my confidence - It was noticed by one of my friends. I went to A&E they said it's a barell chest but it's definitley NOT! I'd like to know if this normal just going through puberty or if this is a serious matter, Please reply a.s.a.p!
