Hi I damaged my middle right finger nail a couple of months ago by shutting the car door on it. The damage to the skin at the top of the nail which healed quickly and I expected to lose the nail. It's slowly grown out but there is still some nail at the tip. I was concerned about whether my nail will regrow or will I be left with a lumpy nail bed for the rest of my life? If so, is there anything I can do about it? Many thanks Kate

I have some red rushes on skin and nail problems (seperation of the nail from the nail bed), I had the nails clippings tested for fungal but it turned not to be fungal. I am wondering if a food intolerance test would help identify my problems. There is a page claiming to make food intollerance tests. They refer to the Embarasing Bodies program on their page: "As featured in The Times Newspaper (2011) and the TV program Embarrasing Bodies (2010)". I this a reliable page? Did anybody use their services? Can the Embarrasing Bodies confirm their reliability? Their web page is: www.testyourintolerance.com Thank you

Hi I am also looking at this page and owndered if you found any answers or went ahead to use it many thanks,

Hi, I am also trying to find credible reports for this website. I came across one at: http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1899527#i This appears to relate to someone who has used them and heard about them on a TV programme though they dont state which. This is the best I have found so far.

I have not found any reliable sources regarding this page... They promise a lot, but their contact address is a PO box... it looks more like a scam to me... Anyway, I've been looking for solutions to my skin problems and read several books about Orthomolecular medicine which is about treating patients with huge amounts of vitamins... it claims that most of our sicknesses is a result of lack of vitamins... beacuse of the poor quality of the food this days we don't get enought nutritions and vitamins and that's why we get sick. following advise I've been using vitamin suplements, especially vitamin C. daily I take about 10-15 grams of vitamin C (that's right GRAMS). my nails are stronger than ever, and I have not been sick, not even small colds for several months now, and before I regularly was catching cold... I recomend this page: http://www.doctoryourself.com/ it has lots of advice for different sicknesses, also books like 'Vitamin K2 and the Calcium Paradox: How a Little-Known..' by Kate Rheaume-Bleue; 'Vitamin C: The Real Story, the Remarkable and Controversial.. ' by Steve Hickey; 'Ignore the awkward! How the cholesterol myths are kept alive' by Uffe Ravnskov; 'Doctor Yourself: Natural Healing That Works' by Andrew W. Saul. these books show thousands of examples how people were treated with 'just' vitamins... after reading these I understood that doctors don't really want us healthy they want patients witch will be buying medicine forever boosting the chemists pockets.... I strongly recommend these possitions... for your health...

Hello, I have had fungal nail infection in my big toe for a few years now and have tried putting a cream that the doctor gave me on it every day for 3 months but instead of getting better it gradually lifted away from the nail bed and has now fallen off completely! I have cleaned the nail bed up and am now continuing with the cream...but my worry is that my nail will not grow back??? Has this happened to anyone else? did your nail grow back?

That went away but my toe nail next to my big nail (on both feet) is discoloured and brittal. It doesnt grow out, it grows up. iv tried leaving it, iv tried the cream they give me. I dont think its fungal nail infection as its only them two toes. Iv had it for around 5-6years. My toe nail next to my big toe on my right foot came off last night (well half if it) it just lifted off, didnt hurt or anything. what is wrong with my toe nails? thanks.

I had an accident 14months ago, that broke the toe nail on my left big toe about half way down. I washed it regularily and dressed it but didn't see my GP as I had started a new job and feet problems are not tolerated by my employer, since then the skin has grown over the top of the nail and its infected. Can I see anyone other than my GP as I'm embaressed that I didn't get it sorted earlier and would like to just visit a clinic.

Hi there, i have an unusual nail that keeps growing and splitting in the middle of the nail and i could pick at it to which i did once but that made it worse as i could feel more sensitivity underneath. I don't understand why i have one nail that does this. it grows lumpy like little mountains/ridges is the only way to explain it across the nail. It's my thumb nail and on my right hand side. Rest of my nails are fine apart form this one. I did shut it in a door when i was a teenager but that was like 15 years ago. It did grow funny after that happened but now its splitting. I was on medication for depression but that was over a year ago i stopped taking them and now this happens. My diet hasn't changed so i don't know what to do.

I cant feel the tips of my fingers and around the nails, and I can rip tips of my nail off without them bleeding and any pain. The base under the nail seems to grow over the nail it self and looks very dry. Have tried hand and nail cream for that. The sides of the nails seem to curl up instead of downwards to the skin and look discoloured and out of shape.I have taken clippings to the doctors and the result came back with no fungal infection. Can you suggest what it can be? Many thanks Lloyd

For about 3-4years or so now I've had problems with my toe nails it started when I hurt my big toe and the nail went black and bruised underneath... As the bruise started to grow out the nail left was yellow/white very discoloured. It has since spread to my other big toe and I've had problems with half the nail even coming away from the base... Like grown up with a ridge across the toe! I went to the doctors and they took samples and sent them off.... The reply "it's not fungal nail, it's trauma to the toe and will go" 2 years later I'm still trying every product off the shelves to try and help... At my wits end!

I have had problems with the big toe nail on my right foot for about 3 years after the nail was cracked and came off. The nail that grew back is very sensitive and thick. There's also a small growth at the cuticle which isn't painful, but it catches when wearing socks as it sticks out from the nail. The growth is black at the root, like dry blood or a bruise. Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this or how it can be treated?

Hi, please can you help, i am 28 years old and had both of my big toes nails removed including then nail beds when i was 14, i know it may sound daft but this causes me problems particularly in summer months as i am too embarrased to go out wearing open toe shoes incase people laugh and stare at the mess the operation has left. I am extremely envious of other girls wearing pretty shoes in summer - its really getting me down. I have tried nail extensions at various nail salons but there is nothing for the nail to stick to, is there anywhere i can have nail implants?

I have a fungal nail infection for years. It is just white underneath my toenail, so the nail is separated from my toe.I`ve used over -the-counter nail lacquer but it did not help.I went to my GP and she said because it doesn`t look too bad, she won`t give me tablets to take instead, I should try that nail laquer again or JUST PAINT OVER IT with nail polish!Summer us coming and I am not going to cut that toenai off.

My big toe nails have been cracking and breaking from the side for several years. The amount of nail that breaks off is not severe, but it does cause problems when wearing sandals as my nail/s then look asymmetrical shape. At first I thought I may have stubbed my toe causing the nail to crack, but sometimes it just happens randomly. Is this a deficiency of vitamins/iron or an potential issue with my nails? Thanks

The nail on my big toe was growing away from the nail bed and was discoloured.Terbinafine antifungal cream had no effect. Every morning for the past two months after bathing I have applied a generous amount of Vicks vapour rub behind the nail and over the whole nail area and covered it with a tube of gauze. It is improving and although not growing as fast as the nail on the other foot it is not now growing away from the nail bed.

My big toe nail has been falling off for about 3 years. The nail looks dry and yellow, the nail bed is bruised, but I've not banged my toe. My Dr prescribed Amorolfine Medicated Nail Lacquer in June 2014, saying it would take about 6 months to have any effect. My nail has started to grow back and come off twice since then. My toe is very painful and does not look good. Any suggestions or advice?

I halfway pulled off my thumbnail at work, had to go to ER were they had to remove the nail. The doc said it might not grow back right. I went to nail salon when the nail fist stared to come in they overlaid my nail to protect it. I kept doing this till my own nail came back, now stronger then the rest of my nails.

I acidentally hit my thumb with a hammer and it bled under the nail. I thought the nail would drop off, and new growth emerge underneath. Although the nail grows, it splits into a top and bottom nail just after the new growth area at the base of the nail. The top grows more than the bottom.I've had it for three years. Will it ever become one nail again ?

My big toenail on my right foot "came away" a few months ago..it felt loose for a while and one day I was able to pull it away/off..I had to get the tweezers out and remove a side bit of my nail also..After the nail came away,it seemed as though a new/fresh nail was growing through, pushing the old one away..I thought ths new nail would grow over time into a normal nail, but a few months later and only the bottom half has grown, inwards slightly, so I don't have a normal long nail. I had a re-occuring ingrowing toe-nail on my left foot when I was a teenager..that is all cleared up now..perhaps the two things are connected? I'm a new mum also, to a 9month old baby..maybe this has something to do with it??? I can't think what else has changed in my life.

Hi, I trapped my toe under a wheely bin 3 months ago, same as you it was sore for a week or so then stopped, the nail was a pretty shade of lilac but I was not worried, a few weeks later I went to cut the nail... And it just lifted up... Yet still no pain. So it turned out the purple colouring was fluid under the nail. I had to cut the whole nail away (GP refused to help) as it was all still weeping. I suspect I damaged the bone by the way the whole toe has behaved. It's taken almost all of 2 months since the nail lifted for the skin to heal but that's because I had to walk on it. I got non stick dressings from boots, small section taped on, changed two or three times a day. The nail! Well there is nail growing back, very thick but soft and barely half way grown yet. If you think the nail has a blister under it try using a hot needle to burn a hole in the nail just in front of the matrix but must be careful not to put the needle too far in. Or see a GP who should be able to do it. It may be that there is a thin seal at the edges of the nail and you can slide something under the nail to break that seal and release the fluid.

Hi on a couple of my fingernails the nail is coming away from the nail bed in the centre of the nail and it feels a little tender I have been trying to grow them out to see if it improves but unfortunately not. The nail is not discoloured in anyway.

I had a nail bed injury years ago, after a heavy metal gate, managed to rip off my toe nail, through a pair of DM boots. The nail was initially hanging by a small amount of nail, and bled profusely, but then I eventually lost most of the feeling in it, pulled it off, and after the infection, went to the Doctors. They didn't particularly help me and agreed it was infected, but gave me no idea what to do next. Even though I went to see them when the nail started growing at a sideways angle and curling up at the top. Is it too late for a nail bed repair, or is there any other options open to me, other than just to have it removed permanently?

I am a nail technician, most fungal infections can be treated with tea tree, a antiseptic you can buy at the chemist, some nail infections can be caused from wearing false nails where the false nail lifts and water gets trapped between your nail and the false nail thus creates a nice warm place for bacteria to thrive, making your nail infected. most off these type of infection will grow out over time. doctors can prescribe antibiotics for some nail infections.or if its for feet you must see a chiropidist. Black nails mostly are brusing which will grow out Do not use the same nail file or buffers with any one else becaue this can cause cross contamination, donot file you nail plate down as this can weaken the nail bed, also do not cut live cuticle as this protects you nails from infection getting in to the matrix which is where your nail starts growing from. hope this helps a bit

I've lost the nail on my wedding ring finger to nail psoriasis completely, it's just crumbled away and all that's left is the nail bed. I also have NP in four of the nails on my toes and they have already separated from the nail bed...painlessly i might add! Its pretty distressing.
