Hi, I'm 23 now, but when I was 20 I had an extremely painful week for my right breast occuring just before my period. It was swollen, my nipple was fully erect the entire week, warm to the touch, & far more sensitive & tender than my usual pre- menstrual period. After a full week of pain (wearing a bra was excruciating, no bra, even worse) the pain almost instantly subsided, my nipple retracted (slight inversion), & I remember feeling very little sensation in it anymore. I was very alarmed, went to see two doctors about it and was told that nipple inversion happens and it probably isn't harmful. three years later, I have my feeling back ... but, touching my breast often turns into a painful experience down my entire arm & often makes me stomach bloat terribly. Please, could someone tell me what they think? I'm scared that the doctors took something serious too nonchalantly.

Can I get nipple inversion correction surgery on the nhs? Hi. I am 18 and have true inverted nipples. Meaning they have never been erect. I am so self conscious about this. I have had multiple sexual partners and have never been able to take my bra off infront of them. I have a new partner who I am planning to have sex with n the near future. However I am not comfortable with him seeing my breasts. They have effected my self confidence since I can remember from around the age of 12. Please help...I want them gone and don't know what to do!!!!

Hi. I have the same issue. It effects my self confidence a lot. Could you please tell me how you got on? Can you get it on the NHS?

I think I have 1 inverted nipple, and 1 normal one. The inverted nipple isn't fully inverted, it is inverted in the middle part of the nipple. It does come out if I keep touching it ( it becomes hard ) and the whole nipple could be seen, sometimes, with a tiny small folding. The other nipple seems at all fine. The "inverted" nipple is always inverted, as long as I remember. May I ask, is this "shy", " inverted " nipples? Or another thing?

One of my nipples is like more down and a weirder shape to the other its scary and weird the others perfectly fine but my left is totally odd its embarrassing is this normal I'm only 14 ://

I have exactly the same!! I'm trying to find out what it is but can never find anything related to it!! It makes me so uncomfortable and I still hate to get my boobs out in front of my boyfriend!! Hopefully your question will help me out too!!

Hi, i am 18 years old and have had a sore itchy nipple for a few months now. When i have itched the nipple it has split and bled slightly. Now my nipple always seems to have discharge on the top of it, or it seems really dry. I have tried moisturising it, but it doesn't stop the itching and discharge. My breast has also become very sore now, as if it is bruised and it feels very tender when i touch the nipple. Should i go and see my GP?

Hi I am 21 and have also been suffering from a sore itchy nipple too. My right one seems to have dry skin all around the nipple and i have also tried to keep it well moisturised. Really dont want to go to my GP as only have a male GP in the surgery i go to and i feel way too uncomfortable.

I'm not sure if I have a third nipple. It's on my lower abdomen diagonally below my bell button and it's pink almost exactly like my nipples on my breasts. It looks kind of like it has a small areola and a tiny nipple inside it but I'm not sure. Could this be a third nipple?

Hi I'm 17 and one of my nipples looks inverted and has been this way for as long as I can remember, however I don't think it is an inverted nipple as it is like a cut in my nipple. My nipple can become erect but is sore and sometimes has white gunk. I am very embarrassed about this.

you may wanna go to the doctor. My friend had the same symptoms and she was diagonosed with breast cancer. It could also just be an infection but its better to be safe than sorry.

I'm 20 years old and both of my nipples are inverted. my right nipple is usually out but becomes inverted sometimes while my left is usually inverted and comes out if it's stimulated enough. I also have discharge that's white from both of my nipples but it's very little and does not smell. And I have white bumps on both of my nipples they sort of seem like zits because I can pop them but I'm not sure what they are. I also accidentally cut the tip of my left nipple 2 years ago so now the skin on the tip of that nipple is lighter than the one on my right nipple. I have embarrassing nipples and need help. Any advice?

I'm 16 and my vitiligo first showed on my nipple a few years ago. The edge of the nipple doesn't really raise when erect so it's completed covered half of my nipple. I noticed when on holiday that it's spread to my back and stomach in patchy dots (Although I don't stay out in the sun much abroad, stay covered up when out and also apply a high spf lotion too). I know there is no cure - i've tried prescribed creams and I've also got skin camouflage make up from the Red Cross, alongside I've tried fake tanning on the area's but never works...BUT my question is, does the melanin ever "come back" to the pigment? Also, can you (skin) graft on the nipple? Because i'm really insecure about it and would love to have that done if possible. Thank you!

I have the exact same problem, I'm eighteen and have had it there all of my life, the rest of my body doesn't bother me but I'm so self conscious about my nipple and I'd love to know if I could get a skin graft or tattoo over it? Would be interested in hearing back from you if you do find a way?

I have always had inverted nipples and felt very embarrassed and self conscious. 3 weeks ago I had them corrected by Adrian Richards at Aurora Clinics - I feel and look totally different - and love my new, neat, protruding nipples. Everyone at the clinic was very caring and I felt very looked-after.

Hi, I have just read all the above comments which reminded me so much of my own feelings when I was young. I'm 60 years old and have always longed for normal nipples. I did manage to breastfeed my children as one nipple didn't retract fully until a couple of years after finishing breastfeeding. My GP at the time was amazed that I managed to breastfeed, but I was very determined. I too tried Avent Nipplette without success and eventually had an operation which was also unsuccessful because not all milk ducts were severed. A second operation (by the way, they are no big deal!)was successful, although the nipple is not prominent. Do think about your possible wish to breastfeed before an op and discuss it with the surgeon, as the severing of milk ducts reduces the ability to breastfeed. To all the young girls: Dont worry about boys/men! If they dont want you because of inverted nipples they are not worth spending time with! No one has ever humiliated or rejected me because of my nipples, so be proud and confident like Sars who posted the first comment. Ps: I had my op because the inversion got worse and felt uncomfortable.

It depends on the grade of the inversion, but sometimes the ducts are totally separated which does make breast feeding impossible... Go and see the consultant for advice

I'm worried that I have a third nipple too. It wasn't made clear to me whether a third nipple could grow onto an existing nipple. I have 2 as normal and then when I woke up this morning I found a spot/pimple next to my right nipple, on the bit surrounding it. It looks slightly similar as the end is sort of the same and when I push down on it, it feels the same as when you push down on a nipple. Does anyone know what it could be?

Could it be a blocked duct, I don't think a third nipple would grow but if it's on your areola that could be what it is; sometimes you can squeze them in a warm bath and they will excrete and usually go away.

I have th same thing , a little spot that looks like a small nipple on the areola (the area surrounding the nipple) it hasent Alleays been there and I'm really worried about it :O I think it might just be a clogged gland because you don't randomly grow third nipples :)

Hi there, just wondering how bad ur nipple was & did they take nipple of when u got ur boob job done? I looked at getting boob job done as I went from a c to a cup but he said that I would have to get the nipple taken of so they do a procedure which he deceived as pushing my nipple out & tying knot at bottom then putting it back on but I'd have scar under chest grinning job & scar around the nipple. I seen ma friend scar around her nipple when she got a boob lift & it was a ghastly sight.

im 27 and I have 1 inverted nipple. I have 2 children and both pregnancies my nipple never came out and I was unable to breastfeed off that side both times as baby couldn't latch on which resulted in a breast abcess. ive tried using nipple shields and suction cups but my nipple never stays out. is there anything that actually works or do you think surgery is the way to go. after feeding 2babies from just one breast one nipple is permanently out and the other is not- its very unbalanced and getting me down.

The advent nipplette or supple cups are a non surgical cost effective solution!!! They work I have tried them, and I am finally getting rid of this embarrassing problem!! And depending on the grade of the inversion, it is permanent. I wish I could tell everyone, I was so relieved when I found them.

I heard get a piercing on your nipples help. Nipples like this can also be pulled out by a doctor. There is noting to be afraid of this is all normal

how long have you been using the niplette te? is it really functionable? please i need help, i bought a niplette of mine to fix mu nipples.. i hope. this really will help ....

My right nipple has been inverted for as long as I can remember, whilst my left nipple is perfectly normal. My nipple does 'come out' when erect though, and so I had them pierced two weeks ago. It's pushed the nipple more outwards and made it look more normal - although there is still a difference between the two. I don't think you'd know my nipple was inverted though now unless I told you, so I'd highly recommend trying this if you can stand the pain!

Hi, I am 48, I wouldn't call it a lump I have on my nipple but more an extra bit of skin that has grown on the side of my nipple. it has grown over 6 months approx. it looks the same colour as my nipple and seems to just part of my nipple now, it doesn't hurt.

Hi Mary My nipple became inverted when I became pregnant with my first child, however it was very slight about a quarter of the nipple inverted. When I had my son it always popped out but I found it painful so just fed him from my other chest. When I got pregnant 2 Nd time nipple got worse midwife told me about nipplette it was great I used it early on in pregnancy & my nipple would pull out & stay out for a good hour, my son preferred feeding from that nipple. Got pregnant 3rd time & nipple worse nipplette didn't work struggled to pull it out, in the end had to use fingers & shield to feed him, became so painful & ended up with thrush in the milk duct of that nipple. The nipple doesn't even come out at all now. I also went from a c cup to not even filling an a cup & doctor at hospital said nothing they can do:( x

I have something that appears to be a third nipple but I'm not really sure.. It's right next to my "normal" nipple- by other means it looks like I have two nipples on my left boop.. At first I thought it was a zit or something (lol) and it was sort of soar, but now it looks like my natural nipple and it's really annoying. At this point I don't really care, because it's not like a go and flash my boops everywhere, but it's kinda embarrassing too.. Any ideas what it might be except for a third nipple? It's not that soar anymore....

I would definitely go and get it checked, it could be something more serious, they don't usually "appear", they are there from birth, growing with you, and as the site says they run down the body, so you are more likely to have one underneath your nipple than next to it. Please get it looked at ASAP!!

hi my name is zoe and im 14, and i have one nipple which is normal, that is on my right breast, but on the nipple on my left breast, the nipple goes in slightly, as in right at the end of the nipple, and i was talking about it to my friends mum, who is training to be a nurse, and she said that that type of thing could be breast cancer, and i dont know what to do, HELP!!

I'm 21 and my 3rd nipple appeared when I was about 8/9. My mother took me to the doctor, who said she had never actually seen a third nipple before but that's what she thought it was. Since then I've had nothing to confirm it actually is a 3rd nipple. It's about the size of a mole, under my right breast. It looks like its slightly split in half and has a dark area around it like a nipple does. When I was younger it really upset me, but as I got older I just accepted it. Anyone who's seen my boobs hasn't noticed it unless I tell them. My Fiance doesn't care about it either as he has a split nipple, so we are weird together. If any young girls or boys out there are worried about their 3rd nipples, don't. Chandler from friends got rid of his "nubbin" and regretted it! I'm not convinced it would be worth it.

my nipples sometimes itch - but are never painful and there are no lumps or inversion. when they are squeezed a small amount of liquid sometimes comes out this can be pale green/white and sometimes black. this has been going on for years - i thought it may be due to the hormones when i was taking oral contraceptives, but i have not been taking these for the last 6 years - what's going on?

I'm 14 and my left nipple is really weird; it's like the inside of the nipple is all broke and crumbly (ew I know, I'm sorry) it's different to my right nipple and I don't even know if it's 'inverted'. I went to the breast clinic when I was about 11 or 12 and they said that it's just still developing but I have to disagree as it's still the same now!

I also have this, it seems like my nipple has a cut in it

Im 15 nearly 16, my left nipple turns inwards. It has been like this since i started puberty at 13. I only comes out if i put pressure around the nipple. When my nipple is out, it looks soggy and sometimes there is a bit of discharge. I am really worried but i don't want to go to the doctors. Is it something serious.
