I'm not too sure if I have tinitus and exactly for how long? The noise in my ears is like a buzzing noise not too loud and I'm not aware of it during the day, but at night when I go to sleep, I become aware of it, is it going to get worse with time and because i'm not sure since when i've had it could it be just temporary and how to deal with it if it's here to stay or get worse??

I know exactly how you feel!! I'm 17 and have been diagnosed with ibs for a couple of years now. I hated sitting near people in case my stomach made noises, assemblies were the worst because they were so quiet, going round friends houses or any event I would worry weeks before in case my stomach made that horrible windy rumbling noise. the more I worried the worse it got. I made myslef become ill and became so depressed and withdrawn from situations purely because I felt so embarrassed about it. I am now becoming a lot better since starting college, I use mebervarine tablets when my ibs flares up and always have a peppermint tea every morning. And I always have to use the toilet like 2-3 times in the morning, I just felt so alone and like I was the only one suffering from this. I also find it worsens during that time of the month :(

hi im 17 and have a problem with wind..it seems to get trapped in my stomach and when i try to let it out it seems to come back up into my stomach and make a farting type noise.i find it mainly comes after i eat but it stays for the whole day.i am currently studying for exams and its really embarassing when im in an exam centre as i have to try so hard to hold it in eventhough i hold it in my stomach makes a noise like im farting.thankfully if i do fart it doestn smell bad but its gotten really bad im just fed up it has affected my studys...is it the way im eating my food as i usually eat my food quiet fast or is it something else...please help i really need to sort this out before my exams :(

I have exactly the same problem, can really sympathise with you. I am 30 and it has only come on me recently that i have noticed. I have even been to the doctor about it, to no avail. It is extreamly embarassing, having to go on courses and in quiet rooms amoungst people. It is uncontrolable, and unbearable. Sometimes has happens when i havent even eaten. I would really like to find an answer to this. It is causing a great deal of stress

I totally agree with you both i am in the exact same position it's is awful I thought I was the only one, I have tried appsolutly everything, I thought it may have been because I was constipated I have changed my diet taken laxatives, stopped taking nutrient tablets from holland and barrets which the doctor advised and it it still happening, I have taken days of college and been late nemouros times as I was afraid and embarrassed of this happening really hope someone will give us some good advice And a way of coping and making this go away 😞 really fed up now!

Hi, i need help,my belly just will not shut up it is so embarrassing, and i am now getting very anxious about it which i am sure is probably making it worse, it has got progressuvely worse in the past year and a half, never had the problem before. Doctor said IBS but all pills they have given me have not helped, i dont really get much pain, just discomfort and a lot of noise, before during and after eating, its never ending and ruining everything, i have at least 3 BMs a day it does feel like i am finished each time, however i eat again and i am straight back into the toilet, i only get an upset stomach when i know i am very nervous about it, its purely just the noise as though the gas has no where to go, hope someone can advise anything to help. I also have a new problem i dont know if it is related or not but i am now bleeding during sex, i have been on the pill for 9years and have never had a problem, now i dont want to have sex until i find out what is wrong as it is so embarrassing

Is your stomach discomfort due to acidity. Does it feel better or worse after you've had a meal? It could be indigestion. Go to your doctor to rule out the possibility of any stomach ulcers and H. pylori infection. I sometimes get indigestion discomfort and noise when I'm stressed and I have had H. pylori infection ruled out. My GI specialist said it was due to the IBS but I'm not so sure. If you are holding in gas, it could also be causing discomfort - better to let it out and avoid the foods that may be causing it.

If you are bleeding after sex you must go to the doctor to rule out anything serious. Don't delay. I had this but luckily it turned out to be endometriosis not cancer.

i am62 and i get a rearly bad smell from my noise like amonia

Yeah, its just a slight drop in blood pressure around your ears, do you feel kind of dizzy or see stars? Just get up more slowly and nothing should happen

i suffer with titinus myself and have seen numerous thearpy doctors about it,but as you know the is no cure for titinus.but there is one thing that helps during the day if you hear the noise try focusing on a different noise which blocks out the titins ringing noise and at night you can listern to a gagdet that plays different sounds like rain, waves, birds etc which you can purchase but i got mine give me from my hospitial as i was refered to audiology so mention this to your doctor.hope this helps!!!

Carolin & other sufferers, I find a noise source really helps. I use a dehumidifier but anything that gives off a slight noise helps. I use earplugs constantly even when in restaurants, it is a pain and I am still trying to find some really good ones that are not unsightly but cut out the dangerous noise levels. I have found bio ear plugs (v good), but I have long hair and they stick to the plugs like mad! Any help well received. Thanks.

Hey, I am going through the same thing right now. It is horrible, hope you are coping ok.

i missed the live webshow but like a lot of others am confused as to what my score of 35 means. i have always been very sensitive to noise and always notice the details that others miss. i think i am a bit odd but don't know if my oddness is anything to do with autism, i don't like crowds and the associated noise.

I don't know how old you are or your situation of just how loud you enjoy your music. BUT - I have this similar situation that started after suffering a concussion and whiplash in an automobile accident. (I was rear-ended) I constantly hear ringing and at night I hear a noise like we left the tv going in another room. I have not talked with my doctor about it, but now I think that I need to! My dad has had tinnitus for about 10 yrs. He is 81 and has been in 10 motorcycle accidents in his life. He also has problems with ear wax!

Randomly i will be sat and hear a ringing noise that nobody else can hear. Im 15 and listen to my headphones pretty loud, i get told to turn them down by teachers and my parents. Is the noise a result of damage?

I am 16 years old and I have a constant high pitched noise in my ears. I'm not sure how long I've had it for but I know it's been atleast 1 year. When my ears get blocked for any reason, the noise gets louder. I've gotten used to it and tend to ignore it but I really want to know what it is.

I have exactly the same. Always a high pitched noise. Like one of them mosquito things. I have it all the time. And sometimes I hear noises in my ears that aren't actually there. Like bangs and squeaks and stuff

sometimes, at any time of the day, i hear a very high pitched noise in both ears, i'm only 13. the noise sounds like the beep on a machine in a hospital when a heart has stopped beating, it sounds like that, it's really annoying...it comes and goes, about once a day. HELP ME!

This could be caused by tinnitus. Like a ringing noise in your ears? I get that sometimes. I put it down going to gigs and the music is just unnecessarily loud. This is in a lot of clubs now a days. All those warnings about your ears being damaged by loud noises (phones, ipods etc.) are there for a reason. If it is seriously bothering you, go to your doctor. Please don't be embarrassed by seeing them, they have seen everything under the sun and are there to help you. Promise. :)

i get this same high picthed noise in my ear but it only happens when everything is silent ANY IDEAS :~(

When I try to go to sleep, I get a noise in my ear that is very irretating. It's like a digging noise and usually in my left ear but can be in my left. it usually stops if i lie on that particular ear. I would like it if someone could tell me what this is and if i would have to go to the doctors! help!

I used to get this when I had runny wax 'gunk' in my ear. I used to get a watery wax substance in my ear. sometimes at night it would sound like digging I found putting cotton wool in it or ear drops a few hours before bed. I have since had my tonsils out and it has stopped. I do have other pain now though.

im 16 and i have heard this ringing that is like one of those plug in mice deterrors. is is occasionally quite annoying and afterr watching EB i realise that it is possibly tinnitus. i have heard this noise for about 8 years that i can atleast remember i always thought that it was normal though is there anything i can do that will reduce the noise?? x

I've had tinnitus for a few years, mine is because I have an underactive thyroid, I'm also a musician (guitarist) in a rock band. I always use earplugs in loud environments. I feel like my tinnitus is getting worse - my ears are so sensitive to noise, the ringing gets louder with stress. I used to go to gigs without earplugs before I had tinnitus and came home and my ears were ringing deafeningly loud. I've seen a doctor, I know that there's no cure but I need some more techniques (I mask the noise at night with White noise from an untuned radio station). I don't want tinnitus to prevent me from pursuing a career in music (I try not to let it get in the way)

I have that too. There are white noise sounds on you tube that you can listen to, some videos last for 8 hours so you can listen to it when you sleep. White noise seem to cancel out tinnitus, try it.

I seriously thought every body heard these ringing loud pitched noises.. It may sound daft but I've always had them and there not constant just when it's silent and some times I'll have a little burst and i will hear a high pitched noise for about 10 mins.. and I always have a ringing noise when I come out of a club.. Maybe I should see a doctor,, but I really did think this happens to everyone :-S..

hi, i'm seventeen years of age, and currently doing my A levels. i believe i have IBS. I've been to my doctors on a number of ocasions and to be honest, they've been useless. i suffer from great anxiety already, and the noise that my bowels make add to this. It makes me very embarrased, and the noise is actually worse to me than the pain and discomfort. I am worried that there is nothing that can be done as my doctors haven't helped very much at all. I have tried many laxitives and pills to calm my nerves, and chamnged my diet, but nothing seems to work. hope you can help?

I'm 37 and was diagnosed with tinnitus about 7 years ago. I had a hearing test at my hospital which was fine and then spoke to a specialist who explained what tinnitus was and that there was no cure, it may come and go itself and different ways to try and cope with it. To start with it was really upsetting and frustrating especially when trying to get to sleep at night, it nearly drove me mad for the first 3 years. Now although it is always there and never goes, I have learnt to live with it and seem to be able to ignore it/blank it out, basically just get on with things. My hearing is very sensitive to loud and high pitched noise, the tinnitus is worse after a loud noise like a smoke alarm or if someone is clapping near my ear. My husband asked me the other day if I could hear a faint ringing noise of someone's house alarm going off? My reply "honey, its me your talking to, I hear ringing all the time!". You will learn to cope with it, your doctor can refer you to your local tinnitus clinic and you can always look on this website www.tinnitus.org.uk
