I'm 17 years old - female - and since I was about 13/14 I've had an uncontrollable obsession with plucking out body hair. It started with the first time I plucked my eyebrows, that was fine for a while, but it's almost like I became addicted to the sensation of pulling out hairs. I plucked out nearly all of my eyebrows and soon moved onto my eyelashes. When people asked I told them that I had reacted to a mascara which made my eyelashes fall out.. When people started noticing -I mean really noticing- I managed to move the obsession onto my leg hair. I got red spots and lumps from digging the hairs out when they hadn't grown properly. Eventually I managed to move it to my pubic hair.. I can't get rid of the obsession from there. I sit, hunched up, for HOURS digging and ripping out hairs that haven't even grown back in. I use small scissors and needles to get to the short hairs and there doesn't seem to be any way to control it. Along with back pains my 'privates' look awful, all red lumps and scabs and it completely destroys my confidence. I honestly don't know what to do. As well as this, I have an obsession with squeezing spots and blackheads on my face. Again, I can spend hours right up close to the mirror attacking my face until it's all red and blotchy and painful, trying to get something out of every pore. This only happens once or twice a week but it makes me feel awful and once I start I really can't stop. Nobody knows about ANY of this and i'm really suffering. Should I go to the doctors about it..? I've tried just stopping using will power but I genuinely can't..

I'm not sure if this will help, but you're not alone. Take a look at www.stoppickingonme.com, it might help, it might not. Hope it does.

go to the doctors. the hair pulling thing is called trichotillomania and is so much more common than you'd think - it's an impulse control disorder in much the same way that skin picking is. things like cbt and medication can really, really help.

I have an obsession with smelling my fingers after I've come into contact with something that isn't mine. It's not something that particularly affects me but i do it all the time. Is this OCD?

My boyfriend does this too. Only his has to do with when he touches body parts like his neck, arms, ears, legs, etc. I have never seen any indication of that happening in reference to any southern body parts. (if ya get my meaning) It actually kind of grosses me out but I understand after being with him for nearly a year that it is just something he does and it is on a regular basis. He seems to try to hide it and when asked about it he says it's to make sure he doesn't stink. I told him that the best solution for that if there is any question is to take a shower. He showers on a daily basis so I know he doesn't smell but he does it even when he is clean. I want to help him and be understanding but I do not want him to embarrass himself in front of others by doing it. I have no idea what to do either and it is very frustrating. I understand where you are coming from on this and from what I understand it can be related to OCD, Tourettes, anxiety and other possible psychological disorders.

im a 15 year old girl, and like most teenagers i have acne on my forehead and cheeks. but my main problem is that i squeeze my spot and skin - its like an obsession, i literally cannot stop myself from doing it, and afterwards i get really angry at myself for it. Do I have OCD? I have to do things in routines for example when i have a bath I have to wash the bath out twice leaving the bathroom in between and have to have to do everything in an order. If someone messes up my order I become very anxious. I also seem to have an obsession with even numbers... I don't know what to do?

I have an obsession with chewing things, since I was tiny, plastic, metal (in fact I was once in hospital for having swallowed an earring) my fingernails, I've taken to pulling out strands of hair and chewing them(and swallowing), for a couple of years now, sometimes from my head, but especially my eyelids, it's becoming obvious, I'm 19 now but when I was younger I was a self harmer... are they connected?

sadly there isnt anything over the counter, some people try st johns wort but it reacts with the contraceptive pill so its not suitable for everyone. its kind of a natural antidepressant. im glad you're getting referred to someone who'll help. a lot of solving OCD is letting go of the obsession so you dont have to perform the compulsions to compensate for it. you're scared of vomit (obsession) so you have to do all these other things to avoid it (compulsion) its basically teaching yourself that the world wont end if the thing you're scared of happens. good luck x

i could make this comment to all that blog here.overeaters anonymous has been the on ly thing that helped me with my food obsession.wish you all the best.

Since 5" is within the normal range, there is not need to be treated with medicine to enlarge it further. This kind of obsession is similar to athletes who already have spectacular bodies, but who wish to push themselves even further with body enhancing drugs.

Squeezing the spots around my breasts has become an obsession but now I've left myself with lots of scars, what could I do to make these scars go away? It's very embarassing

hey. maybe perhaps speak to your GP about it? It might even just be the case that you have a very fast metabolism and your body just burns everything you eat. Try not to get too obsessed with putting weight on as maybe one day you will start to gain weight really easily. Just eat healthily and exercise a lot to gain muscle too:) hope this helps xo

Same here. I've been put on weight gain drinks via my GP. You should try asking your GP for them! No noticeable difference yet but I've only used them for 2 weeks!

Please don't be nervous, scared or worried Neil. No one on here will be able to tell you what your problems is, but I think you know that already. And I also think you know - you should make a trip to see your own Doctor. Just think after the initial embarrassment of telling your Doctor - you should with his/her help get the diagnoses & treatment you need. Just think how much better you will feel, once you know just what your problem is. Good Luck.

often being too clean can make things worse, but if your sexually active to be on the safe side you need to get it checked by a doctor. i know it can be very difficult and embarrassing, i suffered with something from puberty throughout my teen years, im now 22 but im so glad now that ive finally seen a doctor and im getting things sorted. dont make the same mistakes as me, get it seen to soon. the sooner you deal with it, the sooner you can forget about it and get on with your life :)

Ladies, let me reassure you. I am a lesbian and have seen many womens labia. The pictures on this site are all of perfectly normal labia. I have seen much bigger ones than these - this "small labia" obsession is just a fashion thing, like being size zero is at the moment. You are NOT ugly, abnormal or disfigured down there at all. We are all as different down there as we are in our faces.

Hi, I don't know you personally, but that sounds horrible. I self harm too and to the same extent that you do. My only advice could be that you listen to music? Listen to a song called Angela Baker and My Obsession With fire by Senses Fail and Hold on till may by Pierce the Veil. Music really helps me cope :)

How can be you be autistic at 61 ? As if you sort of grow out of it ! I'm 51 and I have been diagnosed with Asperger's for 2.5 years . I still haven't been able to grow out of it ! Your so right . I'm dyslexic as well. At school I was in the remedial class and I never cought up with the rest. Dyslexia is big picture thinking , while autism is obsession with detail. That's what makes me crazy , sometimes , but it is a gift. I've been called a visionary . I agree with adults being treated as adults .

I verge on depression but I tell the doctor I'm not 'just' depressed but the way I am gets me depressed. I can't plan my time I don't give jokes the brainpower to translate them and I go from one obsession or period of talking to friends to periods of hermitdom where I don't want to have to 'deal' with people. I just wish I had a diagnosis or name to throw at people to give myself a break when I've let people down. I scored 40 but still don't 100% believe I'm that different from other people.

Nadine..I feel so sorry for you both...BB is socially crippling, it ruins lives..I'm 62, I've suffered this curse since I was 13 yrs old...I've just about survived it, I've lost count of the embarrassing situations and snide comments...My mouth is immaculate, even though I say it myself...It is a curse as far as I'm concerned...But your poor hubby hasn't got a BB, but he thinks he has...He must be tormented beyond belief...Please be patient with him...Just keep telling him he is wrong..It sounds like he has developed an obsession with his breath... He needs to seek help before it takes him over completely, as does BB itself...G/Luck..x

They say trichotillomania is most common in 8-13 year olds I think but I'm 19 & started pulling from the back of my scalp last year. I have this obsession with pulling dark, coarse hairs and now have a bald patch which I'm too scared to look at, but if I do maybe it will shock me into stopping? I love my hair and would be devastated if it was noticeable which it could become if I don't stop. I also have OCD which I think has contributed to this massively. I find I tend to do it mostly whilst watching tv and less likely when I'm out the house. I also filled out a survey on the trichotillomania uk website which you might want to have a look at.

i started when i was about 13 years old, like you i went for the frizzy thick hairs. until two years ago i didnt know that i was balding at my crown untill my hairdresser told me she couldnt cut my hair because there wasnt enough hair there! its very depressing especially when people dont understand that we cant help it. im now 19 and still battling trich. i wish i could have my thick hair back but ive damaged the follicles too much that the hairs growing back wiry which leads to more pulling! god help us!

Hey thanks for your reply! I read somewhere about a girl who wears gloves or headscarves when she is watching tv to help stop her pulling, I may try this technique! I also seen my hairdresser last week and she said there is stubble growing back which is good but if I keep pulling I could possibly damage the follicle and it may not grow back. Hopefully I will find something to help stop me pulling!

i'm 15, and i used to, for around two years, worry constantly about it... i let it run through my mind everyday!! but i went to my doctor who said it was entirely normal. the past few months have been great, i'm way more focused on other things. i hate this whole, 'you need to remove this, you need to remove that' -- it's all media, and an obsession with the perfect image! even this video is suggestive of that labiaplasty is 100 percent neccessary, which it isn't. i haven't had oral sex but my boyfriend has been down there and hasn't said a thing about it. at this age, girls, most boys will be so happy to be with a girl and be able to even go downstairs they wont care what it looks like. if a boy's going to be pathetic, move on from him, he's not right for you - or anyone! the right guy will love you for you. as you should too!

I have 6 verrucas on my right foot, Ive had them since I was young, they're just normal size and arent as bad as the ones in the pictures. Ive tried bazzuca and over the counter stuff but doesnt seem to work. I also asked the doctor about it but they just said to use over the counter things for 3 months and it should work, but they havent! Im so desperate to get rid of them as I can't wear sandals or flip-flops or go swimming! Can't even take my shoes off on holiday, I sunbathe with them on!! My boyfriend also thinks it's really weird that I have such an obsession with him not touching my feet or looking at them etc. I am so desperate to get them sorted!!

I've written on here before and Im still bloody clueless on what I'm supposed to do.... My food obsession becomes increasingly worse as every minute goes by. I punish myself for eating, but why can't I stop... WHY?!? I dont want to talk to my mum about it as she suffered from bulimia and anorexia most her life (she's better and healthy now) and I don't wanna scare her, my boyfriend gets annoyed at me if I say I'm fat and my friends tell me the same old rubbish (oh your not fat, blah blah blah) can someone please advise me what I should do. I excersize 5 times a week and am trying to stop my problem with food but I have no idea how to...

Hey guys, my embarrassment about my labia is almost ruining my life I think we all have to remember that we're all different, natural and beautiful. I've been sexually active since I was 15 and I'm now 20, I've had 13 sexual partners. None of whine have ever said anything negative about me, sometimes I get told how sexy I am or how they look like a love heart. And everyone I've had sex with has wanted to have sex again and again Yet I still can't get over my own problems with myself, I cry a lot an I think about it almost every day. My obsession with it has caused my to have to take time off work to deal with the depression is caused me. One day I hope that women everywhere will lean to accept themselfs for who they are. I'm considering surgery but I'm scared I'll be unhappy and feel even worse. Good luck girls

If your labia effects you both physically and mentally then I would definately recommend getting surgery. I tried for 5 years for the operation on the NHS but got no were so I wouldnt waste time trying to get it done that way. I had my surgery 5 days ago and I can honestly say it is well worth having it done.
