Im a 15 year old girl. I recently went to the doctors because my vaginal discharge has a fishy odour and was yellowish and creamish and was quite excessive. It's gotten to the point where i have to wear a pad everyday and leggins underneath my trousers in order to hide the smell. My doctor did a swab test but found nothing abnormal. She prescribed me with antibiotics and now it has turned thick, creamy and has a salty odour. Is there a different reason as to why this is happening to me or is there anyway i could get normal clear non odour discharge? Any help on this would be great!

i am 28 and live with what you describe, about a week before my period i get alot more discharge than usual,it is something i have just learned to live with.i would advise thin panty liners so you can feel fresh.

I was very interested in the advice given this weeks update for under arm sweating. Can the 'cure' be on Nhs ? I saw the update and this looks perfect solution for my daughter who sweats a lot and has some body odour as well. It runs her social life and people don't understand she us very clean but the body odour econes excessive and I feel for her . If not how much would it cost and how do I choose the practitioner to help

I'm 40 and I think I may have Fish Odour Syndrome. I have and the symptoms since puberty. I only seem to have the odour on the lead up to and during my period (which thankfully is only about 2 days). Soem months seem worse than other. It doesn't seem to make any difference how scrupulous i am with personal hygiene. It leaves me so self conscious, I am washing every hour at work but it doesn't seem to make any difference. If anything, it gets worse if i use anything perfumed, or when I get hot. I eat no meat of fish, but do eat eggs, beans and soya. Do you think avoiding these will help? and will I need to go to my GP for testing/dignosis. (I am currently on SSRI's for reactive depression, so am a bit apprehensive about going to see her about something else). Hoping for some advice

Hiya I know it's embarrassing, I suffered briefly recently (I'm the same age). It's also known as bacterial vaginosis, and is really due to an imbalance of bacteria. I cured it by eating lots of probiotic yoghurt - I was getting thru a big tub every two days and also got probiotic capsules from Holland & Barrett, which I took twice a day. It cleared up in about 10-14 days. Give it a go, you've nothing to lose. Being overly hygienic will make the problem worse as this kills good bacteria as well as bad bacteria. Hope you get sorted soon.

I am a 19 year old female and I have struggled with persistent discharge since before I can remember. It has not been of direct importance to me till now as I have recently got into a relationship. In the past year, I have visited my doctor, who told me I had a yeast infection and supplied me with antibiotics however this did not stop the discharge. I have also visited a clinic where I was diagnosed with BV and given antibiotics however, these too, did no help the problem. I have tried over the counter solutions such a canesten and balance activ gel, but these have not worked either. The discharge varies. It can be clear, white, with no odour or with a strong odour. It is very persistent. I would really like to get this issue resolved, any help would be appreciated. Many thanks, Ellen

I'm 40 and I always used to have quite a heavy discharge which never caused me any problems and didn't have any unpleasant smell. However, in the last 2 years my vag discharge has almost completely stopped but I have always got an unpleasant vag odour which I have been to the gp about and had various swabs, all negative. I went through an early menopause a year ago and was treated with hrt which made my periods return but my lack of vag discharge and unpleasant odour is still the same and I also have alot of tenderness and pain around the vagina and wearing jeans and trousers is now getting very uncomfortable. I have been given ortho-gynest cream to use by my gp nurse. I would really like my natural vag discharge to return and for the embarassing vag odour to disappear but it won't. can anyone tell me what is the cause of this vagainal odour? Is it to do with the menopause and is it normal as I feel very embarassed about this??

try buying & taking/eating sum acidophillus yohgurt unless u buy sum acidophillus capsules. it doesnt cure th odour completely 4 u-i dont no wot kind of pill or medicine does. but it temporarily gets rid of th embarressing odour 4 u with ur partner etc. i dunno! try tht & c if it wrks or helps uz. it does & helps my problem. thats y i always have 2 regulary take it/eat it. so now iv startd buying & using sum 'puritans pride- acidophilus plus pro biotic with pectin' capsules. there's 100capsules in a jar 4 just $10 wot lasts longer & is cheaper 2 purchase than the yohgurt that is deer & has an expiary d8 on it. i only take 1 capsule evry morning or every 2nd morning, just try/take whats comfortable & works 4 u 4 ur body.

im not sure y my comment up there keeps having that ' & ' so just ignore & dont worry about that, i cant get rid of it off there.

Hi. I have suffered from halitosis and still not sure whether the bad odour is coming out from my mouth or not but i am feeling much better now. Brushing, flossing and scraping tongue not less than thrice per day didn't work for me. I was wondering from where the odour is coming...i have very good teeth to be honest...but had bad breath. Now i realized its the food that i eat that is causing bad odour. First thing be cautious while choosing something to eat. Please do avoid strong odorous food. I did the same and now feel my breath is kinda fresh(don't know how they smell to others). I guess i am getting paid for the sacrifices i made.

I am 33 years old and i have suffered from a vaginal dishcharge and a fishy odour since i was 14 years old. There is no burning or itching with the discharge, and the odour is just coming from the skin of my vagina. I have seen doctors and had swabs done, but they all come back negative. This cannot be normal. The discharge is constant and never stops, sometimes its bad and other days there's very little. This problem has gone on long enough and i am extremely depressed. I have read about BV and it sounds like thats the problem. Can it be hereditary? I also suffer from an anal fishy odour, is this linked? I need help as i feel the doctors i'm seeing are not taking me seriously

well done to the TMAU and odour sufferers community for addressing this definition of TMAU. Fortunately, I didn't read it but, to be honest, I am disgusted by the references within the now-removed definition and furious that the TMAU community were not consulted with for the writing of the description. However,I am still not satisfied with the definition and would like you to take my comments into account: a)please refer to the disorder as TMAU or Trimethylaminuria ('fish odour syndrome'in brackets only) because, as I explained on national TV alongside Dawn Harper, the title 'fish odour syndrome' is misleading and stopped me from getting diagnosed. b)please do not patronise our community by describing an odour disorder as 'a tad distracting or embarrassing' because this is an insult to those who suffer sever depression as a result of the acute social isolation resulting from this condition (again, I did mention this on national TV alongside Dawn Harper) C)Please refer to 'a pungent odour which can smell of rotten eggs, faeces or rotten fish' and do not limit the smell to 'fish' because this is scientifically innacurate. d) Please amend the following "variety of antibiotics and probiotics available that can help ease the condition" by inserting the phrase 'in some cases' in front of 'can help ease. e)Please refer sufferers of odour conditions to TMAU.org or MEBO Research for further information as most doctors are unaware of the condition. IDEALLY, CONSULT WITH SOMEONE WITH AN ODOUR CONDITION TO WRITE THE DESCRIPTION!!!

Hello Donna, Just wondering is it a constant problem with the odour or does it vary from day to day. In particular do you notice it flaring up after your gran-daughter eats particular types of foods? Also if you don't mind me asking is it a sweaty "classic" type bo or is it a more unusual type of odour(s) maybe garbage, fishy which unfortunately I suffer from

i sweat but not as in wetting the underarm of my top, but i get the sweat odour, i could shower today and that nite i have that horriable odour of sweat
