    Phimosis

A tight foreskin is most commonly diagnosed at an early age, as 95% of 16-17 years olds should be able to retract their foreskins fully. Read more →

I'm 22 and recently I've found I can't pull my foreskin over the top of my penis, it is painful when I try to do so and painful after sex. Also it is dry around the top of the foreskin and it has cuts/slits around the top of the foreskin after sex. What shall I do?

well even i had the problem last 2 weeks ago even during urination i felt lot of difficulty because my foreskin was almost closed, i heard this problem arises in people whose penis is not circumsized , in my case when my foreskin is tight, i just catch the right top most edge of foreskin near the tip of the penis with right thumb and index finger and left tip with left, just pull it upwards slowly (its hard to explain) just try it and see u r foreskin will losen up do it for few days when ever ur forskin is tight(main cause is between the penis and forskin we have to clean properly, other wise it just sticks and causes this problem) if ur penis is circumsized u wont face this problem

My foreskin is incredibly tight. When I say this I mean that I stretch it at all, and when I urinate my penis head triples in size due to the pressure of the urine, and this is incredibly painful. The tip of my foreskin is constantly cracking as well and this is also painful and makes urinating even worse. I also get green gunky discharge, could this be from where I am not able to pull the foreskin back and clean properly?

I would see your GP ASAP. I had huge problems through childhood, and finally ended up with an emergency circumcision when I was 12. After being at the doctors once a month with problems like you desribe, I have not been back a single time, and I'm now in my 30's! I actually ended with such a severe infection, the tip of my penis was the size of a plum. The final straw was when I started bleeding from inside my foreskin. I am currently going through the same process with my little boy (aged 5), who also has phimosis, but more modern techniques mean he suffers less than I do! My wife thinks I am over reacting, but she doesn't understand how painful it can be!

I have never been able to retract my foreskin and at times its been embarrassing but if I wear a condom its not too painful the initial penetration, and I've had gf's understanding and caring enough too lube me up really well orally in order to penetrate easily but its still a source of discomfort for me. I really want to avoid circumcision if possible as I've heard its painful and i'd rather stay as nature intended anyways. could it be that my foreskin is attached underneath somewhere or that its just too tight to retract? it feels as if its attached somewhere.

If it feels that the frenulum is pulling and tight you should see your doctor and ask to be referred to a urologist who can make a small procedure to free it up. It will be about a month to heal properly before you can have sex again.

when i get an erection it goes so hard and sticks up at such an angle that it touches my stomach. it is very uncomfortable and makes sex almost impossible, combined with a very tight foreskin sex has become a no go as every time i have sex my foreskin splits and is very painful for days afterwards (even with lubricant!). i'm desperate for a solution, is there anything that can be done?

Sounds like there are 2 things going on. The foreskin is something you need to see your doctor about. It is very likely that you'll need a circumcision which is a simple quick operation done in a single day. This should totally resolve the foreskin problems. As for the angle issue, you can try positions like missionary or lotus where your bodies are more parallel (not at 90 degrees like doggy style). Check out http://www.sexinfo101.com for lots of positions. If it is such a strong angle that it is just too hard to have sex then talk to your doctor because it may need treatment.

So my problem is I have recently come to notice tht my foreskin cannot retract apart from a couple of millimetres around the tip it's starting to become quite a big worry as me and my girlfriend are wanting to have sex however this has put me off I don't know whether it will be painful or not I have tried to retract my foreskin but it is very tight. I really need some help and advice, thanks

I'm very aprehensive about pulling my foreskin back and hate the thought of it. When a girl takes part in oral sex it feels painful to me and don't like the feeling. I've only ever pulled my foreskin back once or twice but really didn't like it. Is there a way I can get more comfortable with this?

Sounds like you have a tight foreskin, see your doctor about having it removed and hey presto! your be getting your dick sucked like theres no tomorrow!

Hi, I have 2 issues and don't quite know what to do. I'm 26 and have had sex with multiple partners but I am never able to ejaculate with a partner or through masterbation. I do have wet dreams and these are normally within 24 hours of having sex. I have asked a doctor and at the GUM clinic about this issue with no sign of a resolution. My second issue is slightly more urgent.... My foreskin recently swelled up making it impossible to pull he foreskin back over the head. I can feel hard bumps through the foreskin where the head and shaft meet. My penis is very sensitive and sometimes painful, I am urinating more regularly with less urine coming out. Please help!

you may have been born without foreskin, but unlickly. It can be a sexal problam. Only 1 in 20,000 are have this problam. Otherwise most lickley you had the forskin cut off when you were born. This is a poplar choise. it is called crimasine. basicly they numb the penis and burn it off. ask you'r perents. but if you think you have a sexal problam go to the drs/hospital when it is next open for tests.

Hi I'm Harry, I'm 15, 16 in a week, and have been suffering with a problem with my penis, all my life. The glans of my penis is extremely painful to touch but is fine when the foreskin is over it. It doesn't hurt to urinate but because it is so painful, it is impossible to bare cleaning it properly, so it generally gives off a very unpleasant smell that really kicks my self-esteem. It regularily produces a white discharge under the foreskin which is difficult to clean, and again smells. The foreskin can become tight at times but I naaturally have a lot of excess foreskin. I have visited my GP about it but they have only suggested canesten which did nothing. Thank you. Harry.

You may wish to look at using a water based lubricant so the foreskin moves more easily. Another, but much more intensive option is if your foreskin is that tight, that it is painful you may need to look into circumcision. Removing the foreskin would expose the head of your penis and rid the problem of the tight foreskin. However, that would require serious thought.

Hi, i'm 14 and i can't pull back my foreskin AT ALL. I'm only just able to see the very tip of my glans and even doing that is very painful. This is when i am erect and flaccid. I'm able to urinate normally and with no discomfort but I am concerned for my hygiene as I'm told you are supposed to wash under your foreskin, something I've never done. Does my foreskin HAVE to be able to be pulled back, if so, what can i do to help peel back my foreskin. Thanks.

Once after swimming I forgot my underwear and decided to go commando and accidently caught my penis in my zip, just between the glans and the foreskin. As the open wound healed it somehow joined the skin of the glans and foreskin together and as time progresses it seems to 'zipping up' more of the glans to the foreskin. This has the effect of making sex quite painful as the skin is pulled back too far and it quite often opens up small regions of the stuck together part, which is quite painful. any suggestions ?

I had that happen two me it would not heal as i got a hard on it split open,i was circumcised in the end, this cured problem

Terrible situation.. Bite the bullet and go to the Doctor have him give you options. Either they may be able to micro sugery or maybe you might have to loose the foreskin.. Either way you need to have his tended too, your sex life will suffer, your self esteem will also decline and you end up missing out on one of the greatest pleasures in life..

I also have these spots on my foreskin all the way down the bottom of my penis down to my scrotum but mine are somewhat irritating and a few are painful. My doctor pierced the painful ones with a hot needle and was able to extract large hard cysts. These have healed up and have not returned. The largest was 1/2 inch across. I have been trying to remove the smaller systs myself from my foreskin but it is hard to do and painful but once I remove the cysts they do not return.

I'm 16 and my penis is about 5 inches when erect. When I get an erection my foreskin does not go over my bellend, I don't think this is normal and I'm worried about having sex as it could be painful. I've tried pulling my foreskin back when erect but I can't really pull it down and its really painful. Please help!!! Thanks

I'm 17 years old and have had a tight foreskin my whole life. Throughout my sex life starting from when I was 15 I haven't been able to ejaculate from sex, will this change when I have my foreskin removed in a few weeks? Sex can be quite painful, but occasionally I can get my foreskin over the head.

These could be Fordyce's spot, perfectly normal small white spots on the penis. These can commonly group around the base of the glans (where the foreskin recedes from) and can be slightly painful if they are quite big and rub against the foreskin. You should be able to pull your foreskin back all the way past the glans so you can clean beneath it properly. In the bath or shower, lightly stretch your foreskin to try and encourage it to move about more easily. If this problem continues, go see you doctor for some advice.

After sex one day out of the blue my boyfriends penis got small paper cut like cuts under his foreskin just under the head, this could have been due to lack of lubrication also his frenulum (line that connects foreskin to head of penis) got weak and sore. It heals up fairly well but the cuts reappear after sex, even when we have left it weeks to heal. It doesn't hurt during sex but immediately after and his cum starts to sting badly then it is painful for him to touch it at all or urinate. Now his foreskin has swollen to double the size on one side his penis? Neither of us have std's. Any advice or creams to use? Just don't want aftermath of sex to be painful for him anymore:( Thankyou

I had a similar thing a few years back. I went to the docs and they gave me some cream to try to improve it, but in the end I chose to have a circumcision. The white ring for me was scar tissue that I had somehow developed apparently so the foreskin wouldn't pull back easily so thats why you get the little cuts from the skin trying to stretch. Go see your GP the cream might work for you.

I'm 31 and need advice, that i cannot pull my foreskin back any more than few cm as it very tight, it so painful while i doing masturbation but i don't want to cut out the foreskin?. what shall i do?

On the last series of 'Embarrasing Bodies', you talked of men suffering with tight foreskins and having sex was painful. Your only solution seemed to be by having it removed courtesy of the NHS or a private hospital. I had exactly this problem in my teens, a very tight foreskin. I worked out an extremely simple solution to this painful and embarrassing issue. It didn't drain resource's from the NHS, cost a small fortune, mentally break me down, suffer embarrassment or have time off for the healing to repair itself. Quite simply, over a 1 month period, I had very hot baths. I would pull the foreskin back and gradually over the month, the foreskin would stretch and elasticate itself so that it could be drawn back and not tear, bleed or be painful. I hope you could use this advice to help on your web site or programme as there must be countless angst men that are suffering with this problem and are extremely scared of their man hood being carved up, I know I was when I watched your piece but so glad I used common sense to a painful and embarrassing problem.

I'm afraid I don't understand what the problem is. So, your foreskin covers your glans. How is that a problem? Is it uncomfortable or painful? Does it interfere with anything? Some guys have lots of foreskin, some have very little, and most guys fall in the middle, but as long as you are able to retract the foreskin occasionally for cleaning and it's not too tight, all these variations are completely normal.

hi, I'm 16 and the last few times i'v put on a condom it has been quite painful around where the foreskin has been pulled down. This never used to happen before. I think i might have too much foreskin? it's quite hard to explain what it looks like so i wont even try. Please comment if you know any thing!
