I often have to push out my poop by inserting my finger into my vagina. It's like the poop is stuck and building up and pressing against the vaginal wall. I worry that my partner can feel it when we have sex, but I'm more worried about the health implications. Do you think this could be a prolapsed rectum or prolapsed vagina? I have had no children and I am 34 years old.

alison, i have had the same problem since i had my second child in 2000, i have never seen the doctor about it and have just put up with it for all this time, i kinda though i was the only person who had to do this! it has just became the norm for me... even though it is far from normal!have you been to see a doctor? i have thought about it, but was embarrassed :( its good to know im not the only one! i would really like to get it sorted out, maybe now that we have shared it with each other we should share it with the doctor and get it sorted out.

Hi Alison & Laura, I'm the same. I'm 25 and have suffered for a number of years. I have recently had a baby and it gotten much worse. Not sure which one it would be classed as but now I have seen this I will be visiting my doctor first thing on Monday to sort it out.

So, I've been struggling with my boyfriend to have sex we can get it an inch or two in but struggle any further and I feel uncomfortable. I took a mirror to investigate and noticed flaps in the vagina entrance I'm not sure if these are Hymenal tags or maybe I've prolapsed (I have none of the symptoms I don't think, but maybe it could be symptomless?). Fingers and tampons are fine and I had previously had slept with someone once a year ago without problem. Is it normal to not be able to see into the vagina? Should I be worried about these flaps? Could it be psychological?

Hi, I'm a 27 year old female with no children. I have a small internal bulge between my vagina and anus. It doesn't hurt and is firm to touch, I only feel it when I go to the toilet and clean myself. It feels raised as I wipe. Could this be internal piles or could it be a prolapsed rectum?

Go to a doctor at once - something that is firm to touch is more concerning than something soft and fleshy. It needs investigating.

I have just been diagnosed with prolapsed front vaginal wall and a prolapsed uterus. If you have any type of prolapse down there, it should worsen when you go to the loo for a bowel movement if you strain at all. Or if you want to check, lie flat on a bed and (as gross as it is, hook up a mirror and pull your legs up to apply light pressure to the tummy and cough hard. You should see it try to come forward (or out) if there is a prolapse. There is nothing worse than being frightened to go to the doc's, so I sympathise but you must go as prolapses only get worse over time and eventually give you terrible and constant period like pain and lower back pain. Also severe bowel troubles which follow your menstrual cycle (I realise that you are not cycling just now however). This can be fixed if indeed this is what is wrong. Please go and see doctor regarding your missing period. Bear in mind I am no medic at all but it may help you to know that my sister's period was missing for nearly 18 months when she came of the depo but it came back and everything was normal. Let me know how you get on and good luck. :)

I'm 13, and i have this small ball like shape in my vagina hole, slightly poking out when my flaps are closed, i don't think its my hymen because a hymen is a thin layer of skin though, this is more like a tube with a ball on the end, and the ball has a dimple on it, im so worried, do i have a prolapsed cervix? I have started puberty and i get discharge but not periods, thanks

I'm 25 years old and I had my first born 6months ago and today I noticed something while I was washing in the shower. Where my wee hole is there is a piece if thin skin about 2cm ling hanging on and in my vagina there are two skin tags and my cervix is right at my opening. It kinda looks like minced beef. I'm hoping its just skin tags and a prolapsed uterus, but am really unsure. I suffer from herpes type two and my outbreaks are always mild little blisters never pieces of skin hanging. Please help.

Hi I am worried about vaginal prolapse and wondered if you would consider putting a picture on the website of what the inside of a vagina that is not prolapsed should look like. I have two children and am about to try for a third and after watching the episode of the women suffering with a prolapsed vagina I decided to check my own and noticed that I had a slight bulge that pushed down when I did a big cough. I have a healthy sex life and dont suffer with incontinence but I am worried that I might close to having a prolapsed vagaina and that a 3rd child might make it happen sooner! Or maybe it is all fine? Please help. Thank you!

Hi, I am 48 yrs old and have suffered from a prolapsed bladder for approx 3 yrs.I asked my GP to refer me to a gynaecologist as I felt that things were not right in my vagina. He discovered that I had a prolapsed bladder, bowel and womb. I had a hysterectomy 3 weeks ago, and repairs to the front and rear walls of the vagina to repair the other prolapses. I feel good now, just a slight discomfort when sitting, which I believe is normal as the stitches are still disolving inside. I will hopefully be back to work is approx 3 weeks time. Am looking forward now to no periods and not worrying about getting pregnant.

hi, i'm 14, and i think i have a prolapsed vagina, or whatever it's called when your bladder and rectum are inside your vagina. The inside of my vagina feels really strange, and not how i think it should feel, and also when i look in the mirror i can see flesh inside instead of just black. Is this bad ?

When I have unprotected sex with my boyfriend the bottom of the outside of my vagina often hurts. I think it's simply due to friction, and it goes away after a few days. However, recently I had a closer inspection down there and I discovered that I have some looser skin on the underside between my vagina and my perineum, and it's this bit that hurts. I can't remember if I ever had this before. Could this skin have been stretched or prolapsed like haemorrhoids from inside my vagina?

Protected or not, when you have sex, the skin of your vulva and especially around the opening of your vagina is going to get tugged and rubbed, and if you find that you hurt more when you have unprotected sex, it might be because the condoms you use those others times provide extra lubrication. It's really important that you have sufficient lubrication (your own or something non-irritating from a bottle) to prevent the friction and irritation that can cause tiny tears in the skin of your genitals both internally and externally. When using condoms, use a water or silicone-based lubricant, and try to avoid lubricants that contain irritants (scents, 'warming ingredients', and even glycerine if you have sensitive skin or tend to get vaginal thrush/yeast infections. I'm diabetic and get thrush easily, and I find that simple silicone lube that has 'hypoallergenic, for sensitive skin' on the label works best for me, and unlike water-based lube, it doesn't dry out quickly or get tacky). Even when not using condoms, don't use hand/body lotion or mineral oil - use proper lube that's designed for your genitals. Those tiny tears (lacerations) in the vaginal/vulva skin itch like paper-cuts, and I know they hurt like mad. Almond oil applied externally can help soothe and moisturize the skin while it's healing; you can apply a bit with your finger after showering and after each visit to the toilet.

You should go back to your doctor. You shouldn't have to accept wetting yourself at the age of 23. If you have a prolapse it won't repair itself. You will be wetting yourself for the next 60+ years?

I think that I have a prolapsed vagina after looking at your pics. Is there anything that can be done about this, does it involve surgery and will it make my vagina feel looserto my partner? How long does the surgery take (if required) and is it day surgery?

See your GP so they can diagnose and treat your prolapse. I think I've heard of pessaries being used for support, but your doctor should have more of an idea. Best of luck!

I am almost 50 yrs old, w/a prolapsed cervix, right @ the entrance to my vagina. I believe my uterus has fallen too. I don't want a hysterectomy but would like a repair so I can retain my uterus. I also do not want mesh used as there have been problems w/it. Even the FDA says not to use it. I am in Canada & need a doctor who will perform a repair. Also on a few occasions while on the toilet heard a sound coming from my vagina, I felt it & it wasn't' gas from my bowel. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Hi Linda, this sounds like it could be your cervix that has prolapsed and descended out of the vagina. A visit to a pelvic health physio for more specific information and to see if a pessary might be appropriate can help.

Hi, I had the same problem 5 years ago when I was 36, and suggest you go and see your GP . I went and spoke to my GP who sent a referral to my local hospital. I then had to see a doctor at the hospital who diagnosed me with a prolapsed womb. After a long conversation and the doctor explaining everything to me, I decided that she was right and I did need surgery . After the operation to fix my prolapsed womb, I followed the after care I was given and I have had no problems since .
