Hi my 20mnth old son has a skin condition that's baffling me. On his back he has a large area of raised skin mottles to the touch and it has been getting bigger for the last year or so now. It doesn't bother him most of the time but when it does it itches and nothing I use soothes or reduces the area of raised skin. I've used creams like Diprobase, powders like anti fungal items and changed diet but nothing helps and though I've searched your site and many others nothing seems like this condition. It's not contageous but I'd like to find a way to remove this lager area of raised skin and discomfort for my child, in itself I've not been worried apart from the fact that the patch of skin is covering more of his flesh at quite a quick rate. The raised skin is not discoloured ion any way either. I've also talked to my Health Visitor and Midwives at the Health Clinic but this seems to get me nowhere. Is there anything you can suggest or any way you can help? Thankyou,

Some of my fingernails have raised, horizontal lines, what I would describe as a 'water ripple effect'. My little finger nails are clear, but the rest of my nails have at least one raised bump or more. It's been like this for what I would say about a year, give or take.

It's where you either bite or rip them off, i get it too. Went to the doctors and mentioned it simply pressure built up when you bend them.

About six months ago I had a burning sensation when I went for a wee, so I had a look and found a small raised white lump inside my vagina. It went away after about a week but today it was hurting to urinate again so I had another look and there's a few raised reddish lumps and some are almost white-ish and there's discharge. What do you think it could be, what shall I do?

Could be anything from boils to an infection or std. You should go see your doctor immediately to get a proper diagnosis. It will be very quick and you'll probably get a course of antibiotics or a topical cream. Never worry, because your doctor will most likely have seen thousands of this thing before.

i have about 8-10 small black spots raised on outer lips of my vagina. the fisrt one i got was quite raised and sore ,i seem to be getting more and more _ they are on both sides around my vigina on the outer lips. I've always been told I have a sexy p***y and its been looked at and treated well but now I'm so embarrassed and worried. Im so embarrased by what it looks like i dont want anyone looking there - where once i really enjoyed that. I don't even know what to say when I call the doctors office so I don't want to...it's really embarrassing.

Since mid September, I have an unexplained itch. It was literally a case of nothing the one day and the next day the itch appeared. Sometimes the itch can be al over my body and other times it can be in just one area. If I scratch the itch, only slightly I get a red raised area which looks a bit like I've rubbed against a nettle bush. I also get the raised area if I rub myself dry with a towel. I have had 2 blood tests which came back clear and also been treated twice for scabies. I am on a constant course of Anti-hystamines to help the itch. First of all I was on Loretadine which worked for a while but then had to change to Fexofenadine. Sometimes the Anti-Hystamines will help with 95% of the itching and then other times they will only help with about 50% of the itching. The anti-hystamines also help to reduce some of the raised areas that have been scratched but I still get the vivid red area. My doctor has now referred me to a dermatologist as he has run out of options but the referral could take 6 months. Is there anything else I can do to help diagnose the problem???

Right. Ok. I'm 15 now. I used to self harm, by cutting myself, quite a bit, but I haven't for over a year now. I sometimes punch walls or dig my nails into my still until I draw blood when I'm really angry or upset, to relieve the craving for pain, but this isn't a regular thing. Personally, I feel I have gotten over the things that caused me to cut, but every now and then, the urge is still there. I started off with scissors, but turned to razor blades and Stanley knife blades, causing quite deep cuts. Consequently I now have very prominent, raised, white scars. I feel very self conscious, and my confidence is very low. In PE, someone once noticed, and asked about them, and I felt so awkward, I had no idea what to say. I now, constantly wear long sleeves in PE, and around school in general, and out of school too. In summer, people question this, and it can get very uncomfortable due to the heat. However, the thing that bothers me the most is that I wear long sleeves, even around the house, because although my mother knows, my dad doesn't, and I really don't want to him to find out, as I know how it will go down. The second main problem, besides my confidence and self consciousness, is when I look at them, it reminds me of everything I went through, and it really brings me down. So what I really want to know, is can anyone help with anything that will fade them, so they are not raised anymore. Foundation wont cover them, and Bio-oil doesn't work because they are raised, and if it does, I don't have the time, and when I used it, I couldn't manage the twice a day application due to school and late nights etc. Please help me if you can. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello Rach,im same age and also have the same problem and even though yourve over come it you should maybe consider counceling because they can then help you to not have such thoughts keep coming back to you. Bio-oil didnt help me either but some stronger specific stretch mark oils can be useful too.... I know its not nice having to constantly wear long sleeves and my family dont even know I have deppression so I have to be very careful around them but dont let your scars get you down if they are hard to fade because think of it as a step forward that your over coming your depression and dont step back, good luck x

I have a mole on the front on my neck which is quite raised and feels more like a bump but is very small, I also have one around the back of my neck which isn't as raised but is a similar size, they're both the same colour (dark brown). I have another one on the centre of my back I think it's a little wider but not really raised only very slightly compared to the others but it's quite difficult to tell the colour or size so this is a rough idea. - Should there be any concerns?

Hi, I have a raised mole on my chin that went black, I accidentally scratched it and it fell off and started bleeding quite a bit. It doesn't hurt but is still raised and reddish, though the mole itself had gone. I have quite a few raised moles on my face another on on my cheek has scabbed over and bled before. I also have a flat reddish mole on my jaw line. They have all grown considerably over the last 4 years, however my doctor says there is nothing to worry about. I tan quite easily and don't burn, however I am concerned, should I be?? I'm sure if I make another appointment with the doctor he will make me feel as if I am wasting his time again.
